^8 (A)Deacons likewise must be dignified, not ^[a]double-tongued, ^(B)not indulging in much wine, ^(C)not fond of dishonest gain,

¹⁰ For ^(A)the love of money is a root of all ^[a]sorts of evils, and some by aspiring to it have ^(B)wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

⁷ For the ^[a](A)overseer must be beyond reproach as ^(B)God’s steward, not ^(C)self-willed, not quick-tempered, not ^(D)addicted to wine, not pugnacious, ^(E)not fond of dishonest gain,

⁵ Make sure that your way of life is ^(A)free from the love of money, ^(B)being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “^(C)I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you,”
