⁹ David said to Saul, “Why do you listen to the words of men, saying, ‘Behold, David seeks ^[a]to harm you’?

¹⁸ He also said, “^(A)Why then is my lord pursuing his servant? For what have I done? Or what evil is in my hand?

²² My God ^(A)sent His angel and ^(B)shut the lions’ mouths and they have not harmed me, inasmuch as ^[a]I was found innocent before Him; and also ^[b]toward you, O king, I have committed no crime.”

³² Jesus answered them, “I showed you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you stoning Me?”

⁸ while Paul said in his own defense, “^(A)I have committed no offense either against the Law of the Jews or against the temple or against Caesar.”

¹¹ If, then, I am a wrongdoer and have committed anything worthy of death, I do not refuse to die; but if none of those things is true of which these men accuse me, no one can hand me over to them. I ^(A)appeal to Caesar.”

²⁵ But I found that he had committed ^(A)nothing worthy of death; and since he himself ^(B)appealed to ^[a]the Emperor, I decided to send him.
