10 She was deeply distressed and prayed to the Lord and wept bitterly. 11 She made this vow: “O Lord of hosts, if only you will look on the misery of your servant and remember me and not forget your servant but will give to your servant a male child, then I will set him before you as a nazirite until the day of his death. He shall drink neither wine nor intoxicants,[a] and no razor shall touch his head.”(A)
12 As she continued praying before the Lord, Eli observed her mouth.

10 In her deep anguish(A) Hannah prayed to the Lord, weeping bitterly. 11 And she made a vow,(B) saying, “Lord Almighty(C), if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember(D) me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life,(E) and no razor(F) will ever be used on his head.”
12 As she kept on praying to the Lord, Eli observed her mouth.
