⁵ Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread,
    but those who were hungry have ceased to hunger.
^(A)The barren has borne seven,
    ^(B)but she who has many children is forlorn.

⁹ He ^(A)gives the barren woman a home,
    making her the joyous mother of children.
^(B)Praise the Lord!

⁵³ he has filled ^(A)the hungry with good things,
    and the rich ^(B)he has sent away empty.

^9 (A)She who bore seven has grown feeble;
    ^(B)she has fainted away;
^(C)her sun went down while it was yet day;
    she has been shamed and disgraced.
And the rest of them I will give to the sword
    before their enemies,
declares the Lord.”

^10 (A)The young lions suffer want and hunger;
    but those who ^(B)seek the Lord lack no good thing.
