^2 (A)And he cried against the altar by the word of Yahweh, and said, “O altar, altar, thus says Yahweh, ‘Behold, a son shall be born to the house of David, ^(B)Josiah is his name; and on you he shall sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn incense on you, and human bones shall be burned on you.’”

²⁴ Then ^(A)the people of the land struck down all those who had conspired against King Amon, and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his place.

³ Now it happened ^(A)in the eighteenth year of King Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan, the son of Azaliah the son of Meshullam the scribe, to the house of Yahweh saying,

Josiah Reigns over Judah

34 ^(A)Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem.

Faithless Israel Called to Repentance

⁶ Then Yahweh said to me in the days of Josiah the king, “Have you seen what faithless Israel did? She ^(A)went up on every high hill and under every green tree, and she was a harlot there.
