Amplified Bible
2 from the very nations of whom the Lord said to the Israelites, “You shall not associate with them, nor shall they associate with you, for the result will be that they will turn away your hearts to follow their gods.” Yet Solomon clung to these in love.(A) 3 He had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred [a]concubines, and his wives turned his heart away [from God]. 4 For when Solomon was old, his wives turned his heart away after other gods; and his heart was not completely devoted to the Lord his God, as was the heart of his father David.

2 They were from nations about which the Lord had told the Israelites, “You must not intermarry(A) with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods.” Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love. 3 He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines,(B) and his wives led him astray.(C) 4 As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods,(D) and his heart was not fully devoted(E) to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father had been.
