12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each one’s work will become clear; for the Day (A)will declare it, because (B)it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. 14 If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

12 If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 their work will be shown for what it is,(A) because the Day(B) will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work.(C) 14 If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward.(D) 15 If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.(E)

16 Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple(F) and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?(G) 17 If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.

18 Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise(H) by the standards of this age,(I) you should become “fools” so that you may become wise.
