  1. 1 Chronicles 7:14 Manasseh had contacts with the Arameans (see Gen 31:46f). Machir was the half-tribe that dwelt across the Jordan (see Num 32:39f) and was certainly the older of the two half-tribes (see Jdg 5:14). The Huppites and Shuppites belonged to the tribe of Benjamin, while Jabesh in Gilead, a town in the territory of Manasseh, was allied with the Benjaminites (see Jdg 21:12).
