Judah’s Sons
3 Judah’s sons were Er, Onan, and Shelah. Bathshua[a] from Canaan was their mother. The Lord killed Er, the first son, because he saw that he was evil. 4 Judah’s daughter-in-law Tamar gave birth to Perez and Zerah.[b] So Judah had five sons.
5 Perez’s sons were Hezron and Hamul.

Er, Onan and Shelah.(C) These three were born to him by a Canaanite woman, the daughter of Shua.(D) Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the Lord’s sight; so the Lord put him to death.(E) 4 Judah’s daughter-in-law(F) Tamar(G) bore Perez(H) and Zerah to Judah. He had five sons in all.
