25 Then after completing their mission Barnabas and Saul returned to[a] Jerusalem and brought with them John, whose other name was Mark.
Barnabas and Saul Commissioned
13 Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a member of the court of Herod the ruler,[b] and Saul. 2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” 3 Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off.

4 So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia; and from there they sailed to Cyprus. 5 When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. And they had John also to assist them. 6 When they had gone through the whole island as far as Paphos, they met a certain magician, a Jewish false prophet, named Bar-Jesus. 7 He was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man, who summoned Barnabas and Saul and wanted to hear the word of God. 8 But the magician Elymas (for that is the translation of his name) opposed them and tried to turn the proconsul away from the faith. 9 But Saul, also known as Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him 10 and said, “You son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, full of all deceit and villainy, will you not stop making crooked the straight paths of the Lord? 11 And now listen—the hand of the Lord is against you, and you will be blind for a while, unable to see the sun.” Immediately mist and darkness came over him, and he went about groping for someone to lead him by the hand. 12 When the proconsul saw what had happened, he believed, for he was astonished at the teaching about the Lord.

6 Poi, attraversata tutta[d] l’isola fino a Pafo[e], trovarono un tale, mago e falso profeta giudeo, di nome Bar-Gesù, 7 il quale era con il proconsole Sergio Paolo, uomo intelligente. Questi, chiamati a sé Barnaba e Saulo, chiese di ascoltare la Parola di Dio. 8 Ma Elima, il mago (questo è il significato del suo nome), faceva loro opposizione cercando di distogliere il proconsole dalla fede. 9 Allora Saulo, detto anche Paolo[f], pieno di Spirito Santo, guardandolo fisso, gli disse: 10 «O uomo pieno di ogni frode e di ogni malizia, figlio del diavolo, nemico di ogni giustizia, non cesserai mai di pervertire le rette vie del Signore? 11 Ecco, ora la mano del Signore è su di te, e sarai cieco per un certo tempo, senza vedere il sole». In quell’istante, oscurità e tenebre piombarono su di lui; e andando qua e là cercava chi lo conducesse per la mano. 12 Allora il proconsole, visto quello che era accaduto, credette, colpito dalla dottrina del Signore.

13 Und in Antiochia waren in der dortigen Gemeinde einige Propheten und Lehrer, nämlich Barnabas und Simeon, genannt Niger, und Lucius von Kyrene und Manahen, der mit dem Vierfürsten Herodes erzogen worden war, und Saulus.
2 Als sie nun dem Herrn dienten und fasteten, sprach der Heilige Geist: Sondert mir Barnabas und Saulus aus zu dem Werk, zu dem ich sie berufen habe!
3 Da fasteten und beteten sie, legten ihnen die Hände auf und ließen sie ziehen.

7 der sich bei dem Statthalter Sergius Paulus aufhielt, einem verständigen Mann. Dieser ließ Barnabas und Saulus holen und wünschte das Wort Gottes zu hören.
8 Doch Elymas, der Zauberer (denn so wird sein Name übersetzt), leistete ihnen Widerstand und suchte den Statthalter vom Glauben abzuhalten.
9 Saulus aber, der auch Paulus[a] heißt, voll Heiligen Geistes, blickte ihn fest an
10 und sprach: O du Sohn des Teufels, voll von aller List und aller Bosheit, du Feind aller Gerechtigkeit, wirst du nicht aufhören, die geraden Wege des Herrn zu verkehren?
11 Und nun siehe, die Hand des Herrn kommt über dich, und du wirst eine Zeit lang blind sein und die Sonne nicht sehen! Augenblicklich aber fiel Dunkel und Finsternis auf ihn, und er tappte umher und suchte Leute, die ihn führen könnten.
12 Als nun der Statthalter sah, was geschehen war, wurde er gläubig, betroffen von der Lehre des Herrn.

2 Un jour qu’ils adoraient ensemble le Seigneur et qu’ils jeûnaient, le Saint-Esprit leur dit : Mettez à part pour moi Barnabas et Saul pour l’œuvre à laquelle je les ai appelés.
3 Alors, après avoir jeûné et prié, ils leur imposèrent les mains et les laissèrent partir. 4 C’est donc envoyés par le Saint-Esprit que Barnabas et Saul descendirent à Séleucie[c], où ils s’embarquèrent pour l’île de Chypre. 5 Une fois arrivés à Salamine, ils annoncèrent la Parole de Dieu dans les synagogues des Juifs. Elymas le magicien
6 Ils traversèrent toute l’île et arrivèrent à Paphos[d]. Ils trouvèrent là un magicien juif nommé Bar-Jésus, qui se faisait passer pour un prophète. 7 Il faisait partie de l’entourage du proconsul Sergius Paulus, un homme intelligent. Celui-ci invita Barnabas et Saul et leur exprima son désir d’entendre la Parole de Dieu. 8 Mais Elymas le magicien (car c’est ainsi que l’on traduit son nom) s’opposait à eux ; il cherchait à détourner le proconsul de la foi. 9 Alors Saul, qui s’appelait aussi Paul[e], rempli du Saint-Esprit, s’adressa à lui en le regardant droit dans les yeux : 10 Charlatan plein de ruse et de méchanceté, fils du diable, ennemi de tout ce qui est bien, quand cesseras-tu de fausser les plans du Seigneur qui sont droits ? 11 Mais maintenant, attention ! La main du Seigneur va te frapper, tu vas devenir aveugle et, pendant un certain temps, tu ne verras plus la lumière du soleil.
Au même instant, les yeux d’Elymas s’obscurcirent ; il se trouva plongé dans une nuit noire et se tournait de tous côtés en cherchant quelqu’un pour le guider par la main.
12 Quand le proconsul vit ce qui venait de se passer, il crut ; car il avait été vivement impressionné par l’enseignement qui lui avait été donné au sujet du Seigneur.

Who do you claim to be?” 54 Jesus answered, “If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, he of whom you say, ‘He is our God,’ 55 though you do not know him. But I know him; if I would say that I do not know him, I would be a liar like you. Abraham est mort, les prophètes aussi, et toi tu viens nous dire : Celui qui observe mon enseignement ne mourra jamais. 53 Serais-tu plus grand que notre père Abraham, qui est mort – ou que les prophètes, qui sont tous morts ? Pour qui te prends-tu donc ?
54 Jésus répondit : Si je m’attribuais moi-même ma gloire, cela n’aurait aucune valeur. Celui qui me glorifie, c’est mon Père, celui-là même que vous appelez votre Dieu. 55 En fait, vous ne le connaissez pas, alors que moi, je le connais. Si je disais ne pas le connaître, je serais menteur, comme vous. Mais le fait est que je le connais et que j’obéis à sa Parole. 56 Abraham votre père a exulté de joie à la pensée de voir mon jour.
