إِذَنْ، يَا إِخْوَتِي الأَحِبَّاءَ وَالْمُشْتَاقَ إِلَيْهِمْ، يَا فَرَحِي وَإِكْلِيلِي، هكَذَا اثْبُتُوا فِي الرَّبِّ أَيُّهَا الأَحِبَّاءُ.

أَحُثُّ أَفُودِيَةَ، كَمَا أَحُثُّ سِنْتِيخِي، أَنْ يَكُونَ لَهُمَا، فِي الرَّبِّ، فِكْرٌ وَاحِدٌ، نصيحة وحث أَجَلْ، أَطْلُبُ إِلَيْكَ أَنْتَ أَيْضاً، أَيُّهَا الزَّمِيلُ الْمُخْلِصُ، أَنْ تُسَاعِدَهُمَا، لأَنَّهُمَا جَاهَدَتَا مَعِي فِي خِدْمَةِ الإِنْجِيلِ، هُمَا وَأَكْلِيمَنْدُسُ وَمُعَاوِنِيَّ الآخَرُونَ، الْمَكْتُوبَةُ أَسْمَاؤُهُمْ فِي سِجِلِّ الْحَيَاةِ.

10 ثُمَّ إِنِّي فَرِحْتُ فِي الرَّبِّ فَرَحاً عَظِيماً إِذْ إِنَّكُمُ الآنَ قَدْ جَدَّدْتُمْ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى اهْتِمَامَكُمْ بِي. فَمَعَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ لَكُمْ مِثْلُ هَذَا الاهْتِمَامِ، فَإِنَّ الْفُرْصَةَ لَمْ تَتَيَسَّرْ لَكُمْ مِنْ قَبْلُ. 11 لَسْتُ أَعْنِي أَنِّي كُنْتُ فِي حَاجَةٍ، فَأَنَا قَدْ تَعَلَّمْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ قَنُوعاً فِي كُلِّ حَالٍ. 12 وَأَعْرِفُ كَيْفَ أَعِيشُ فِي الْعَوَزِ، وَكَيْفَ أَعِيشُ فِي الْوَفْرَةِ. فَإِنِّي، فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ، وَفِي جَمِيعِ الأَحْوَالِ، مُتَدَرِّبٌ عَلَى الشَّبَعِ وَعَلَى الْجُوعِ، وَعَلَى الْعَيْشِ فِي الْوَفْرَةِ أَوْ فِي الْعَوَزِ. 13 إِنِّي أَسْتَطِيعُ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ، فِي الْمَسِيحِ الَّذِي يُقَوِّينِي. 14 إِلّا أَنَّكُمْ حَسَناً فَعَلْتُمْ إِذْ سَاهَمْتُمْ فِي تَبْدِيدِ ضِيقَتِي.

15 وَتَعْرِفُونَ أَيْضاً، يَا مُؤْمِنِي فِيلِبِّي، أَنَّهُ عِنْدَ ابْتِدَاءِ خِدْمَتِي لِلإِنْجِيلِ، إِذِ انْطَلَقْتُ مِنْ مُقَاطَعَةِ مَقِدُونِيَّةَ، مَا مِنْ كَنِيسَةٍ سَاهَمَتْ مَعِي فِي حِسَابِ الْعَطَاءِ وَالأَخْذِ إِلّا أَنْتُمْ وَحْدَكُمْ. 16 حَتَّى وَأَنَا فِي مَدِينَةِ تَسَالُونِيكِي، بَعَثْتُمْ إِلَيَّ بِمَا أَحْتَاجُ إِلَيْهِ، لَا مَرَّةً وَاحِدَةً بَلْ أَكْثَرَ. 17 وَالْوَاقِعُ أَنِّي لَا أَسْعَى إِلَى الْعَطَايَا، بَلْ أَسْعَى إِلَى الْفَائِدَةِ الْمُتَكَاثِرَةِ لِحِسَابِكُمْ.

18 فَالآنَ عِنْدِي كُلُّ مَا يَسُدُّ حَاجَتِي وَيَزِيدُ عَنْهَا. أَنَا فِي بُحْبُوحَةٍ إِذْ تَسَلَّمْتُ مِنْ أَبَفْرُودِيتُسَ مَا بَعَثْتُمْ بِهِ إِلَيَّ، عِطْراً طَيِّبَ الرَّائِحَةِ، ذَبِيحَةً يَقْبَلُهَا اللهُ وَيُسَرُّ بِها. 19 وَإِنَّ إِلَهِي سَيَسُدُّ حَاجَاتِكُمْ كُلَّهَا إِلَى التَّمَامِ، وَفْقاً لِغِنَاهُ فِي الْمَجْدِ، فِي الْمَسِيحِ يَسُوعَ. 20 فَلإِلَهِنَا وَأَبِينَا، الْمَجْدُ إِلَى دَهْرِ الدُّهُورِ. آمِين!

Cari fratelli cristiani, ho tanta voglia di rivedervi! Voi siete la mia gloria e la ricompensa del mio lavoro. Miei amati fratelli, restate fermamente uniti nel Signore!

Ed ora voglio raccomandare a quelle due care donne, Evòdia e Sìntiche di vivere dʼamore e dʼaccordo con lʼaiuto del Signore. E mi rivolgo anche a te, mio caro Sinzigo, pregandoti di aiutarle, perché Evòdia e Sìntiche hanno lottato al mio fianco per diffondere il Vangelo, insieme con Clemente e con tutti gli altri miei collaboratori, i cui nomi sono scritti nel libro della vita.

Siate sempre felici di appartenere al Signore! Lo ripeto: siate sempre felici! Che tutti vedano la vostra bontà e la vostra dolcezza. Ricordatevi che il Signore verrà presto! Non state in ansia per nessuna cosa, ma in ogni cosa rivolgetevi a Dio, chiedendogli ciò di cui avete bisogno, con la preghiera e la domanda, in ringraziamento. Se farete questo, vivrete nella pace di Dio, che supera di gran lunga qualsiasi immaginazione umana. La sua pace proteggerà i vostri cuori e i vostri pensieri, tenendoli uniti a Gesù Cristo.

Ed ora, fratelli, mentre concludo questa lettera, voglio dirvi ancora una cosa: indirizzate i vostri pensieri su tutto ciò che è vero, nobile, giusto, puro, amabile, onorato, quello che è virtù e merita lode. Continuate a mettere in pratica tutto ciò che avete imparato, ricevuto, udito e visto in me. E il Dio della pace sarà con voi.

10 Mi ha fatto immenso piacere vedere quanto interesse avete di nuovo per me, e ne ho ringraziato il Signore. So che lʼavete sempre avuto, ma finora vi era mancata lʼoccasione per dimostrarmelo. 11 Non vi parlo così, perché adesso mi trovo in ristrettezze; infatti ho imparato a tirare avanti sia con molto sia con poco.

12 So come fare a vivere con quasi niente o nellʼabbondanza. Ho imparato il segreto di accontentarmi della condizione in cui mi trovo, sia che abbia lo stomaco pieno o vuoto, sia nellʼabbondanza che nella miseria. 13 Posso fare tutto ciò che Dio mi chiede, perché Cristo mi dà forza e potenza. 14 Comunque avete fatto bene ad aiutarmi in questa difficoltà.

15 Voi di Filippi lo sapete bene: da quando ho cominciato a parlarvi del Vangelo, dopo aver lasciato la Macedonia, nessuna chiesa, eccetto la vostra, ha avuto con me rapporti così stretti di dare e avere. 16 Perfino quando ero in Tessalonica mi avete aiutato due volte. 17 Ma anche se ho gradito i vostri doni, ciò che mi sta più a cuore è la ben meritata ricompensa che riceverete dal Signore per la vostra bontà.

18 Per il momento ho tutto ciò di cui posso aver bisogno, anzi, anche di più! Sono provvisto di tutto, grazie a quello che mi avete mandato quando è venuto Epafrodìto. I vostri doni sono come un sacrificio dal dolce profumo che piace a Dio. 19 Sarà lui che vi darà generosamente tutto ciò che vi occorre secondo le sue ricchezze. E vi darà la gloria, grazie a ciò che Gesù Cristo ha fatto per voi. 20 Al nostro Dio e Padre sia gloria per sempre. Amen, Paolo.

Closing Appeal for Steadfastness and Unity

Therefore, my brothers and sisters, you whom I love and long for,(A) my joy and crown, stand firm(B) in the Lord in this way, dear friends!

I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to be of the same mind(C) in the Lord. Yes, and I ask you, my true companion, help these women since they have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers,(D) whose names are in the book of life.(E)

Final Exhortations

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!(F) Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.(G) Do not be anxious about anything,(H) but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.(I) And the peace of God,(J) which transcends all understanding,(K) will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice.(L) And the God of peace(M) will be with you.

Thanks for Their Gifts

10 I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me.(N) Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. 11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content(O) whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry,(P) whether living in plenty or in want.(Q) 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.(R)

14 Yet it was good of you to share(S) in my troubles. 15 Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days(T) of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from Macedonia,(U) not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only;(V) 16 for even when I was in Thessalonica,(W) you sent me aid more than once when I was in need.(X) 17 Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account.(Y) 18 I have received full payment and have more than enough.
