18 بَعْدَ هَذَا، غَادَرَ بُولُسُ مَدِينَةَ أثِينَا، وَذَهَبَ إلَى مَدِينَةِ كُورِنثُوسَ. 2 وَقَابَلَ هُنَاكَ يَهُودِيًّا اسْمُهُ أكِيلَا، وَهُوَ مِنْ بُنطُسَ. وَكَانَ قَدْ جَاءَ مُؤَخَّرًا مِنْ إيطَاليَا مَعَ زَوْجَتِهِ بِرِيسْكِلَّا. وَسَبَبُ رَحِيلِهِمَا عَنْ إيطَاليَا هُوَ أنَّ كُلُودِيُوسَ أمَرَ بِأنْ يُغَادِرَ كُلُّ اليَهُودِ رُومَا. فَذَهَبَ بُولُسُ لِرُؤيَتِهِمَا. 3 وَلِأنَّ حِرفَتَهُ وَحِرفَتَهُمَا وَاحِدَةٌ، فَقَدْ بَقِيَ وَعَمِلَ مَعَهُمَا، إذْ كَانَا صَانِعَي خِيَامٍ. 4 وَكَانَ فِي كُلِّ سَبتٍ يُنَاقِشُ النَّاسَ فِي المَجْمَعِ، مُحَاوِلًا أنْ يُقنِعَ اليَهُودَ وَاليُونَانِيِّينَ.
5 وَعِنْدَمَا وَصَلَ سِيلَا وَتِيمُوثَاوُسُ مِنْ مَكدُونِيَّةَ، كَرَّسَ بُولُسُ كُلَّ وَقْتِهِ للتَّبشِيرِ بِكَلِمَةِ اللهِ مُبَيِّنًا لِليَهُودِ أنَّ يَسُوعَ هُوَ المَسِيحُ. 6 فَلَمَّا عَارَضُوهُ وَشَتَمُوهُ، نَفَضَ مَلَابِسَهُ، وَقَالَ لَهُمْ: «دَمُكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ وَحدَكُمْ! وَأنَا لَسْتُ مَلُومًا. وَمِنَ الآنَ فَصَاعِدًا سَأتَوَجَّهُ إلَى غَيْرِ اليَهُودِ.»
7 وَتَرَكَ بُولُسُ المَكَانَ، وَذَهَبَ إلَى بَيْتِ رَجُلٍ اسْمُهُ تِيتيُوسُ يُوسْتُوسُ. وَكَانَ هَذَا رَجُلًا مُتَعَبِّدًا للهِ،[a] وَبَيتُهُ بِجِوَارِ المَجْمَعِ. 8 فَآمَنَ كْرِيسبُسُ قَائِدُ المَجْمَعِ مَعَ كُلِّ عَائِلَتِهِ بِالرَّبِّ. كَمَا آمَنَ كَثِيرُونَ مِنَ الكُورِنثِيِّينَ الَّذِينَ سَمِعُوا بُولُسَ وَتَعَمَّدُوا جَمِيعًا.
9 وَذَاتَ لَيلَةٍ قَالَ الرَّبُّ لِبُولُسَ فِي رُؤيَا: «لَا تَخَفْ. بَلْ تَكَلَّمْ، وَلَا تَصْمُتْ. 10 فَأنَا مَعَكَ. وَلَنْ يُهَاجِمَكَ أحَدٌ فَيُؤذِيَكَ، لِأنَّ لِي فِي هَذِهِ المَدِينَةِ أشخَاصًا كَثِيرِينَ.» 11 فَبَقِيَ بُولُسُ سَنَةً وَنِصفَ السَّنَةِ، وَهُوَ يُعَلِّمُ كَلِمَةَ اللهِ بَيْنَهُمْ.
بُولُسُ أمَامَ غَالِيُون
12 عِنْدَمَا كَانَ غَالِيُونُ حَاكِمًا عَلَى مُقَاطَعَةِ أخَائِيَّةَ، وَحَّدَ اليَهُودُ جُهُودَهُمْ فِي الهُجُومِ عَلَى بُولُسَ. وَأخَذُوهُ إلَى المَحْكَمَةِ. 13 وَقَالُوا: «إنَّ هَذَا الرَّجُلَ يُقنِعُ النَّاسَ بِأنْ يَعْبُدُوا اللهَ بِطَرِيقَةٍ تُخَالِفُ الشَّرِيعَةَ.»
14 وَكَانَ بُولُسُ عَلَى وَشْكِ أنْ يَتَكَلَّمَ عِنْدَمَا قَالَ غَالِيُونُ لِليَهُودِ: «لَوْ كَانَتْ هَذِهِ مَسألَةَ مُخَالَفَةٍ مَا أوْ جَرِيمَةٍ خَطِرَةٍ، لَكَانَ مَعقُولًا أنْ أسمَعَ لَكُمْ أيُّهَا اليَهُودُ. 15 لَكِنْ بِمَا أنَّهَا مَسألَةٌ تَتَعَلَّقُ بِمُصْطَلَحَاتٍ وَأسْمَاءَ وَبشَرِيعَتِكُمْ أنْتُمْ، فَعَالِجُوهَا بِأنفُسِكُمْ. أمَّا أنَا فَلَا أُرِيدُ أنْ أقضِيَ فِي مِثْلِ هَذِهِ المَسَائِلِ.» 16 وَطَرَدَهُمْ مِنَ المَحْكَمَةِ.
17 فَأمسَكَ الجَمِيعُ بِسُوستَانِيسَ رَئِيسِ المَجْمَعِ، وَرَاحُوا يَضْرِبُونَهُ أمَامَ المَحْكَمَةِ. أمَّا غَالِيُونُ فَلَمْ يُبدِ أيَّ اهتِمَامٍ بِذَلِكَ.
عَودَةُ بُولُسَ إلَى أنطَاكِيَّة
18 وَبَقِيَ بُولُسُ هُنَاكَ أيَّامًا كَثِيرَةً. ثُمَّ استَأْذَنَ الإخوَةَ، وَأبحَرَ إلَى سُورِيَّةَ بِصُحبَةِ بِريِسْكِلَّا وَأكِيلَا. وَكَانَ بُولُسُ قَدْ حَلَقَ شَعرَهُ[b] فِي مَدِينَةِ كَنخَرْيَا، لِأنَّهُ كَانَ قَدْ نَذَرَ نَذْرًا. 19 فَوَصَلُوا إلَى مَدِينَةِ أفَسُسَ، وَتَرَكَهُمَا هُنَاكَ. ثُمَّ دَخَلَ إلَى المَجْمَعِ لِيُنَاقِشَ اليَهُودَ. 20 وَعِنْدَمَا طَلَبُوا مِنْهُ أنْ يُمَدِّدَ إقَامَتَهُ هُنَاكَ مَعَهُمْ، لَمْ يَقْبَلْ. 21 لَكِنَّهُ قَالَ وَهُوَ يُغَادِرُ: «إنْ شَاءَ اللهُ سَأعُودُ إلَيكُمْ.» ثُمَّ أبحَرَ مِنْ مَدِينَةِ أفَسُسَ.
22 وَلَمَّا وَصَلَ إلَى مَدِينَةِ قَيصَرِيَّةَ، ذَهَبَ إلَى مَدِينَةِ القُدْسِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الكَنِيسَةِ، ثُمَّ إلَى مَدِينَةِ أنطَاكِيَّةَ. 23 وَبَعْدَ أنْ أمضَى وَقْتًا هُنَاكَ غَادَرَ، وَسَافَرَ مِنْ مَكَانٍ إلَى آخَرَ فِي مُقَاطَعَتَي غَلَاطِيَّةَ وَفَرِيجِيَّةَ، مُقَوِّيًا كُلَّ أتبَاعِ المَسِيحِ.
أبُلُّوسُ فِي أفَسُسَ وَأخَائِيَّة (كُورِنثُوس)
24 وَجَاءَ إلَى مَدِينَةِ أفَسُسَ يَهُودِيٌّ اسْمُهُ أبُلُّوسُ، وَهُوَ رَجُلٌ مُثَقَّفٌ مِنَ الإسكَندَرِيَّةِ لَهُ مَعْرِفَةٌ عَمِيقَةٌ بِالكُتُبِ، 25 وَقَدْ تَلَقَّى تَعليمًا فِي طَرِيقِ الرَّبِّ. كَانَ أبُلُّوسُ يَتَحَدَّثُ بِحَمَاسٍ[c] وَيُعَلِّمُ عَنْ يَسُوعَ تَعلِيمًا سَلِيمًا، مَعَ أنَّهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ يَعْرِفُ إلَّا مَعمُودِيَّةَ يُوحَنَّا. 26 وَكَانَ يَتَحَدَّثُ بِجُرْأةٍ فِي المَجْمَعِ. فَلَمَّا سَمِعَهُ أكِيلَا وَبِرِيسْكِلَّا أخَذَاهُ جَانِبًا، وَشَرَحَا لَهُ طَرِيقَ اللهِ بِشَكلٍ أدَقَّ.
27 وَلَمَّا عَبَّرَ عَنْ رَغبَتِهِ فِي الذَّهَابِ إلَى مُقَاطَعَةِ أخَائِيَّةَ، شَجَّعَهُ الإخْوَةُ، وَكَتَبُوا إلَى التَّلَامِيذِ هُنَاكَ يُوصُونَهُمْ أنْ يُرَحِّبُوا بِهِ. فَلَمَّا وَصَلَ، كَانَ عَونًا كَبِيرًا لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنْ خِلَالِ النِّعمَةِ، 28 إذْ كَانَ يَهْزِمُ اليَهُودَ فِي المُنَاظَرَاتِ العَلَنِيَّةِ مُبَرهِنًا مِنَ الكُتُبِ أنَّ يَسُوعَ هُوَ المَسِيحُ.

18 Dopo queste cose Paolo partí da Atene e venne a Corinto.
2 E, trovato un certo Giudeo, di nome Aquila originario del Ponto, venuto di recente dall'Italia insieme a Priscilla, sua moglie (perché Claudio aveva ordinato che tutti i Giudei partissero da Roma) si recò da loro.
3 Or siccome era dello stesso mestiere andò ad abitare con loro e lavorava; per professione infatti essi erano fabbricanti di tende.
4 Ogni sabato insegnava nella sinagoga e riusciva a persuadere Giudei e Greci.
5 Quando Sila e Timoteo giunsero dalla Macedonia Paolo era spinto dallo Spirito a testimoniare ai Giudei, che Gesú, era il Cristo.
6 Ma poiché essi contrastavano e bestemmiavano, egli scosse le sue vesti e disse loro: «Il vostro sangue ricada sul vostro capo io sono libero da ogni colpa; da ora in poi andrò ai gentili».
7 E allontanatosi di là, entrò in casa di un tale di nome Giusto, il quale serviva Dio e la cui casa era attigua alla sinagoga.
8 Or Crispo, capo della sinagoga, credette al Signore con tutta la sua famiglia; anche molti dei Corinzi, udendo Paolo credevano ed erano battezzati.
9 Una notte il Signore in visione disse a Paolo: «Non temere, ma parla e non tacere,
10 perché io sono con te e nessuno ti metterà le mani addosso per farti del male poiché io ho un grande popolo in questa città».
11 Cosí egli rimase là un anno e sei mesi, insegnando fra di loro la parola di Dio.
12 Ma, mentre Gallione era proconsole dell'Acaia, i Giudei insorsero tutti d'accordo contro Paolo e lo condussero al tribunale,
13 dicendo: «Costui persuade la gente a servire Dio, contrariamente a quanto la legge insegna».
14 Come Paolo stava per aprire la bocca, Gallione disse ai Giudei: «Se si trattasse di qualche ingiustizia o misfatto, o Giudei, io vi ascolterei pazientemente, secondo la ragione;
15 ma se sono questioni che riguardano parole, nomi e la vostra legge, vedetevela voi, perché io non voglio essere giudice di tali cose».
16 E li scacciò dal tribunale.
17 Allora tutti i Greci presero Sostene capo della sinagoga, e lo percossero davanti al tribunale. Ma Gallione non si curava di queste cose.
18 Ora Paolo, dopo aver dimorato là ancora molti giorni prese commiato dai fratelli e s'imbarcò per la Siria con Priscilla ed Aquila, essendosi fatto radere il capo a Cencrea, perché aveva fatto un voto.
19 Quando giunse ad Efeso, li lasciò lí. Ma egli entrò nella sinagoga e si mise a discutere con i Giudei.
20 Questi lo pregavano di rimanere con loro piú a lungo, ma egli non acconsentí;
21 ma si congedò da loro, dicendo: «Devo proprio passare la prossima festa a Gerusalemme, ma ritornerò di nuovo da voi, se piace a Dio». Cosí partí via mare da Efeso.
22 Sbarcato a Cesarea, salí a Gerusalemme, e, dopo aver salutato la chiesa, scese ad Antiochia.
23 Dopo aver trascorso là un po' di tempo, ripartí percorrendo successivamente le regioni della Galazia e della Frigia, confermando nella fede tutti i discepoli.
24 Or un Giudeo, di nome Apollo, nativo di Alessandria uomo eloquente e ferrato nelle Scritture, arrivò ad Efeso.
25 Costui era ammaestrato nella via del Signore e fervente di spirito, parlava e insegnava diligentemente le cose del Signore, ma conosceva soltanto il battesimo di Giovanni.
26 Egli cominciò a parlare francamente nella sinagoga. Ma, quando Aquila e Priscilla l'udirono, lo presero con loro e gli esposero piú a fondo la via di Dio.
27 Poi, volendo egli passare in Acaia, i fratelli lo incoraggiarono e scrissero ai discepoli che l'accogliessero. Giunto colà, egli fu di grande aiuto a coloro che avevano creduto mediante la grazia.
28 Egli infatti confutava con grande vigore i Giudei pubblicamente, dimostrando per mezzo delle Scritture che Gesú è il Cristo.

18 After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;
2 And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.
3 And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.
4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.
5 And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.
6 And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean; from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.
7 And he departed thence, and entered into a certain man's house, named Justus, one that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue.
8 And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.
9 Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:
10 For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.
11 And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.
12 And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat,
13 Saying, This fellow persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law.
14 And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said unto the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, O ye Jews, reason would that I should bear with you:
15 But if it be a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it; for I will be no judge of such matters.
16 And he drave them from the judgment seat.
17 Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things.
18 And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.
19 And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.
20 When they desired him to tarry longer time with them, he consented not;
21 But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus.
22 And when he had landed at Caesarea, and gone up, and saluted the church, he went down to Antioch.
23 And after he had spent some time there, he departed, and went over all the country of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples.
24 And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.
25 This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.
26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.
27 And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace:
28 For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publicly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.

In Corinth
18 After this, Paul left Athens(A) and went to Corinth.(B) 2 There he met a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla,(C) because Claudius(D) had ordered all Jews to leave Rome. Paul went to see them, 3 and because he was a tentmaker as they were, he stayed and worked with them.(E) 4 Every Sabbath(F) he reasoned in the synagogue,(G) trying to persuade Jews and Greeks.
5 When Silas(H) and Timothy(I) came from Macedonia,(J) Paul devoted himself exclusively to preaching, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Messiah.(K) 6 But when they opposed Paul and became abusive,(L) he shook out his clothes in protest(M) and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads!(N) I am innocent of it.(O) From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”(P)
7 Then Paul left the synagogue and went next door to the house of Titius Justus, a worshiper of God.(Q) 8 Crispus,(R) the synagogue leader,(S) and his entire household(T) believed in the Lord; and many of the Corinthians who heard Paul believed and were baptized.
9 One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision:(U) “Do not be afraid;(V) keep on speaking, do not be silent. 10 For I am with you,(W) and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.” 11 So Paul stayed in Corinth for a year and a half, teaching them the word of God.(X)
12 While Gallio was proconsul(Y) of Achaia,(Z) the Jews of Corinth made a united attack on Paul and brought him to the place of judgment. 13 “This man,” they charged, “is persuading the people to worship God in ways contrary to the law.”
14 Just as Paul was about to speak, Gallio said to them, “If you Jews were making a complaint about some misdemeanor or serious crime, it would be reasonable for me to listen to you. 15 But since it involves questions about words and names and your own law(AA)—settle the matter yourselves. I will not be a judge of such things.” 16 So he drove them off. 17 Then the crowd there turned on Sosthenes(AB) the synagogue leader(AC) and beat him in front of the proconsul; and Gallio showed no concern whatever.
Priscilla, Aquila and Apollos
18 Paul stayed on in Corinth for some time. Then he left the brothers and sisters(AD) and sailed for Syria,(AE) accompanied by Priscilla and Aquila.(AF) Before he sailed, he had his hair cut off at Cenchreae(AG) because of a vow he had taken.(AH) 19 They arrived at Ephesus,(AI) where Paul left Priscilla and Aquila. He himself went into the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews. 20 When they asked him to spend more time with them, he declined. 21 But as he left, he promised, “I will come back if it is God’s will.”(AJ) Then he set sail from Ephesus. 22 When he landed at Caesarea,(AK) he went up to Jerusalem and greeted the church and then went down to Antioch.(AL)
23 After spending some time in Antioch, Paul set out from there and traveled from place to place throughout the region of Galatia(AM) and Phrygia,(AN) strengthening all the disciples.(AO)
24 Meanwhile a Jew named Apollos,(AP) a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus.(AQ) He was a learned man, with a thorough knowledge of the Scriptures. 25 He had been instructed in the way of the Lord, and he spoke with great fervor[a](AR) and taught about Jesus accurately, though he knew only the baptism of John.(AS) 26 He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila(AT) heard him, they invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately.
27 When Apollos wanted to go to Achaia,(AU) the brothers and sisters(AV) encouraged him and wrote to the disciples there to welcome him. When he arrived, he was a great help to those who by grace had believed. 28 For he vigorously refuted his Jewish opponents in public debate, proving from the Scriptures(AW) that Jesus was the Messiah.(AX)
