기도에 대해 가르치시다

(마 6:9-15)

11 어느 날 예수께서 어떤 곳에서 기도하고 계셨다. 기도를 마치시자 제자 가운데 한 사람이 예수께 말씀드렸다. “주님, 요한이 제자들에게 기도하는 법을 가르쳐 준 것처럼, 저희에게도 기도하는 법을 가르쳐 주십시오.”

2 예수께서 제자들에게 말씀하셨다. “너희는 기도할 때 이렇게 하여라.

‘아버지
당신의 이름이 거룩히 여김을 받으시기를 원합니다.
아버지의 나라가 이 세상에 오기를 바랍니다.
3 우리에게 날마다 필요한 양식을 주십시오.
4 우리가 우리에게 죄를 지은 사람들을 다 용서합니다.
그러니 우리의 죄도 용서해 주십시오.
그리고 우리를 유혹에 넘어가지 않게 도와주십시오.’”

끈질기게 구하여라

(마 7:7-11)

5 그러고 나서 예수께서 제자들에게 말씀하셨다. “너희 가운데 한 사람이 밤늦게 친구 집에 가서 이렇게 말한다고 생각해 보자. ‘여보게, 빵 세 덩이만 빌려 주게. 6 내 친구가 여행길에 나를 찾아왔는데, 그 친구 앞에 내놓을 것이 하나도 없어서 그러네.’ 7 그러면 그 친구는 안에서 이렇게 대답할 것이다. ‘나를 귀찮게 하지 말고 가 보게! 문은 잠겼고 아이들과 나는 벌써 잠자리에 들었으니, 지금 일어나 빵을 줄 수가 없네.’ 8 잘 들어라. 그 사람이 친구라고 해서 그가 일어나 빵을 주지는 않을 것이다. 그러나 그 사람이 부끄러움을 무릅쓰고 끈질기게 조르면, 그가 일어나서 그 사람이 필요로 하는 만큼 줄 것이다. 9 그러므로 내가 말한다. 구하여라, 그러면 너희에게 주실 것이다. 찾아라, 그러면 찾을 것이다. 두드려라, 그러면 너희에게 문이 열릴 것이다. 10 누구든지 구하면 받을 것이다. 찾는 이는 찾을 것이고, 두드리는 이에게 문이 열릴 것이다. 11 너희 가운데 아들을 둔 사람이 있느냐? 너희 아들이 물고기를 달라고 하면 어떻게 하겠느냐? 아들에게 뱀을 줄 아버지가 있겠느냐? 12 그리고 너희 아들이 달걀을 달라고 하는데 전갈[a]을 주겠느냐? 13 너희는 악한 사람들이다. 그래도 너희 아이들에게 좋은 것을 줄 줄 안다. 그러니 하늘에 계신 아버지께서는 더더욱 당신에게 청하는 사람들에게 성령을 주시지 않겠느냐?”

예수의 힘은 하나님께로부터 온다

(마 12:22-30; 막 3:20-27)

14 어느 날 예수께서 벙어리 귀신을 쫓아내셨다. 그 귀신이 나가자 벙어리이던 그 사람이 곧 말을 할 수 있게 되었다. 사람들은 이것을 보고 깜짝 놀랐다. 15 그러나 그들 가운데 어떤 사람들은 이렇게 말하였다. “예수는 귀신들의 우두머리인 바알세불[b]의 힘을 빌려서 귀신들을 쫓아낸다.”

16 또 어떤 사람들은 예수를 시험해 보려고, 예수께 하늘에서 내려오는 표적을 보여 달라고 하였다. 17 그러나 예수께서는 그 사람들이 무슨 생각으로 그러는지 알아채시고 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “스스로 갈라져서 싸우는 나라는 모두 망한다. 가족도 서로 싸우면 흩어지고 만다. 18 이처럼 사탄이 스스로 나뉘어 자신과 싸우면 그의 나라가 무너지지 않겠느냐? 내가 바알세불의 힘을 빌려 귀신들을 쫓아낸다고 너희가 말하니 내가 하는 말이다. 19 내가 바알세불에게서 힘을 얻어 귀신들을 쫓아낸다면, 너희를 따르는 사람들은 누구의 힘을 빌려 귀신을 쫓아낸단 말이냐? 그러므로 그들이 너희의 재판관이 될 것이다. 20 그러나 내가 하나님의 능력으로 귀신을 쫓아냈다면, 그것은 하나님의 나라가 너희에게 왔다는 것을 나타낸다.

21 힘센 사람이 빈틈없이 무장을 하고 자기 집을 지킬 때 그의 재산은 안전하다. 22 그러나 그보다 힘센 사람이 달려들어 그를 이기면 어떻게 되겠느냐? 그 사람이 믿었던 무기를 빼앗고, 그의 재산을 약탈하여 자기 마음대로 나누어 줄 것이다.

23 내 편에 서지 않는 사람은 나를 반대하는 사람이다. 나와 함께 모으지 않는 사람은 헤치는 사람이다.

비어 있는 사람

(마 12:43-45)

24 어떤 사람에게 들어 있던 귀신이 그 사람에게서 나가게 되면, 그 귀신은 쉴 곳을 찾아 물 없는 곳을 돌아다닌다. 그러다가 쉴 곳을 찾지 못하면 이렇게 말한다. ‘내가 있던 집으로 돌아가야겠다.’ 25 그 귀신이 돌아와 그 집이 말끔히 치워지고 잘 정돈되어 있는 것을 보면 다시 나간다. 26 그러고는 자기보다 더 나쁜 귀신을 일곱이나 데리고 들어와서, 그곳에 자리 잡고 살게 된다. 그러면 그 사람의 형편은 처음보다 더 비참하게 된다.”

참으로 복 있는 사람

27 예수께서 이 말씀을 하실 때에, 그곳에 있던 사람들 가운데 한 여자가 큰 소리로 말하였다. “선생님을 낳아 기른 어머니는 복 있는 분이십니다.”

28 예수께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “오히려 하나님의 가르침을 듣고 따르는 사람들이 복 있는 사람들이다.”

몇몇 사람이 예수의 권위를 의심하다

(마 12:38-42; 막 8:12)

29 큰 무리가 모였을 때 예수께서 말씀하셨다. “이 세대 사람들은 참으로 악하다. 그들은 내게 표적을 보여 달라고 요구한다. 그러나 그들에게는 요나[c]의 표적 밖에는 어떤 표적도 보여 주지 않을 것이다. 30 니느웨 사람들에게는, 요나에게 일어난 일이 하나님께서 그를 보냈다는 표적이 되었다. 그와 마찬가지로 이 시대 사람들에게는, 사람의 아들에게 일어나는 일이 하나님께서 사람의 아들을 보내셨다는 표적이 될 것이다. 31 심판 날에, 시바의 여왕[d]이 이 세대 사람들과 함께 일어나서 이 세대 사람들을 죄인이라고 심판할 것이다. 그 여왕은 솔로몬의 지혜로운 가르침을 들으려고 멀고 먼 곳에서 찾아왔기 때문이다. 그러나 보라! 이제 솔로몬보다 더 위대한 이가[e] 여기에 있다! 32 심판 날에 니느웨 사람들이 이 세대 사람들과 함께 일어나, 이 세대 사람들을 죄인이라고 심판할 것이다. 그들은 요나의 설교를 듣고 회개하였기 때문이다. 내가 너희에게 말한다. 이제 요나보다 더 위대한 이가 여기에 있다!

세상을 비추는 등불이 되어라

(마 5:15; 6:22-23)

33 등불을 켜서, 그것을 숨겨 두거나 그릇으로 덮어 두는 사람은 없다. 등불은 등잔대 위에 얹어 놓아 집에 들어오는 사람들이 볼 수 있게 한다. 34 네 눈은 몸을 밝히는 빛이다. 눈이 성하면 네게 필요한 빛을 다 받는다. 그러나 눈이 성치 못하면 모든 것이 캄캄할 것이다. 35 그러니 조심하여라! 네 안에 어둠이 아니라 빛을 간직하도록 하여라. 36 네 몸에 빛이 가득하여 몸의 어디에도 어두운 구석이 없으면, 마치 등불이 너를 비추는 것처럼 네 온몸이 밝은 빛을 낼 것이다.”

종교 지도자들을 꾸짖으시다

(마 23:1-36; 막 12:38-40; 눅 20:45-47)

37 예수께서 말씀을 마치시자, 어떤 바리새파 사람이 예수께 자기 집에서 음식을 드시자고 청하였다. 그래서 예수께서 그 집에 들어가 상 앞에 앉으셨다. 38 그런데 예수께서 음식을 들기 전에 손을 씻지[f] 않으시는 것을 보고 바리새파 사람이 깜짝 놀랐다. 39 그때 주께서 그에게 말씀하셨다. “너희 바리새파 사람들은 잔이나 접시의 겉을 깨끗이 닦는데, 너희 속은 탐욕과 악독으로 가득 차 있다. 40 어리석은 사람들아, 겉을 만드신 분이 속도 만들지 않으셨느냐? 41 그러므로 마음으로부터 가난한 사람을 도와주어라. 그러면 너희에게 모든 것이 깨끗할 것이다. 42 너희 바리새파 사람들아 너희에게 화가 미칠 것이다! 너희는 박하와 운향과 그 밖의 모든 채소의 십분의 일을 하나님께 바친다[g]. 그러나 정의와 하나님을 사랑하는 일은 대수롭지 않게 여긴다. 십분의 일을 바치는 일도 게을리하지 않으면서, 정의와 하나님을 사랑하는 일도 반드시 실천했어야 하지 않겠느냐? 43 내가 다시 말한다. 너희 바리새파 사람들에게 정말로 화가 미칠 것이다! 너희는 회당에서 가장 높은 자리에 앉기를 좋아한다. 그리고 장터에서는 사람들에게 인사받기를 좋아한다. 44 너희에게 화가 미칠 것이다. 너희는 아무런 표지가 없는 평평한 무덤과 같다. 사람들은 무덤인 줄도 모르고 그 위로 걸어다닌다.”[h]

45 한 율법 선생이 예수께 “선생님, 바리새파 사람들에게 그렇게 말씀하시는 것은 저희 율법 선생들도 함께 모욕하시는 것입니다.” 하고 투덜거렸다.

46 예수께서 대답하셨다. “너희 율법 선생들에게도 화가 미칠 것이다. 너희는 지키기 힘든 어려운 규칙들을 억지로 사람들에게 지운다. 그러면서 너희는 그들을 도우려고 손가락 하나 까딱하지 않는다. 47 너희에게도 화가 미칠 것이다. 너희가 예언자들의 기념비를 세우는데, 그 예언자들을 죽인 것은 바로 너희 조상이었다. 48 너희는 조상들이 한 짓이 잘한 짓이라고 생각하고, 그것을 모든 사람에게 보여 주고 있는 것이다. 너희 조상들은 예언자들을 죽였고, 너희는 그 예언자들의 기념비를 세우고 있다. 49 그렇기 때문에 하나님의 지혜가 이렇게 말씀하셨다. ‘내가 예언자들과 사도들을 그 사람들에게 보낼 것이다. 그 예언자와 사도들 가운데서 더러는 죽임을 당하고 더러는 박해를 당할 것이다.’ 50 그러므로 이 세대는 세상이 생겼을 때부터 모든 예언자들이 흘린 피에 대한 책임을 져야 할 것이다. 51 곧 아벨[i]을 죽여 흘린 피에서부터 사가랴[j]가 제단[k]과 성전 사이에서 죽임을 당할 때에 흘린 피까지 책임을 져야 할 것이다. 그렇다! 내가 진정으로 말한다. 지금 살고 있는 너희는 이 모든 사람을 죽인 책임을 져야 할 것이다.

52 너희 율법 선생들에게 화가 미칠 것이다. 너희는 하나님에 대한 지식의 열쇠를 가로채었다. 그러고는 너희 자신도 들어가지 않고, 들어가려는 사람들도 가로막고 있다.”

53 예수께서 그곳을 떠나실 때에, 율법 선생들과 바리새파 사람들은 앙심을 품고 예수께 대들며 여러 가지 물음을 퍼부었다. 54 그분의 대답에서 트집거리를 찾으려는 것이었다.

  8. 11:44 사람들은…걸어다닌다 무덤에 몸이 닿은 사람은 부정을 타게 되어, 하나님께 드리는 예배에 참석할 수 없었다.

The Model Prayer(A)

11 Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”

2 So He said to them, “When you pray, say:

(B)Our[a] Father [b]in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
[c]Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
3 Give us day by day our daily bread.
4 And (C)forgive us our sins,
For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
And do not lead us into temptation,
[d]But deliver us from the evil one.”

A Friend Comes at Midnight

5 And He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; 6 for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; 7 and he will answer from within and say, ‘Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’? 8 I say to you, (D)though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.

Keep Asking, Seeking, Knocking(E)

9 (F)“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; (G)seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 11 (H)If a son asks for [e]bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13 If you then, being evil, know how to give (I)good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

A House Divided Cannot Stand(J)

14 (K)And He was casting out a demon, and it was mute. So it was, when the demon had gone out, that the mute spoke; and the multitudes marveled. 15 But some of them said, (L)“He casts out demons by [f]Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.”

16 Others, testing Him, (M)sought from Him a sign from heaven. 17 (N)But (O)He, knowing their thoughts, said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and a house divided against a house falls. 18 If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? Because you say I cast out demons by Beelzebub. 19 And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges. 20 But if I cast out demons (P)with the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. 21 (Q)When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace. 22 But (R)when a stronger than he comes upon him and overcomes him, he takes from him all his armor in which he trusted, and divides his [g]spoils. 23 (S)He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters.

An Unclean Spirit Returns(T)

24 (U)“When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ 25 And when he comes, he finds it swept and put in order. 26 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and (V)the last state of that man is worse than the first.”

Keeping the Word

27 And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, (W)“Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!”

28 But He said, (X)“More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”

Seeking a Sign(Y)

29 (Z)And while the crowds were thickly gathered together, He began to say, “This is an evil generation. It seeks a (AA)sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah [h]the prophet. 30 For as (AB)Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so also the Son of Man will be to this generation. 31 (AC)The queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation and condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and indeed a (AD)greater than Solomon is here. 32 The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for (AE)they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and indeed a greater than Jonah is here.

The Lamp of the Body(AF)

33 (AG)“No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a secret place or under a (AH)basket, but on a lampstand, that those who come in may see the light. 34 (AI)The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is [i]good, your whole body also is full of light. But when your eye is [j]bad, your body also is full of darkness. 35 Therefore take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness. 36 If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, the whole body will be full of light, as when the bright shining of a lamp gives you light.”

Woe to the Pharisees and Lawyers

37 And as He spoke, a certain Pharisee asked Him to dine with him. So He went in and sat down to eat. 38 (AJ)When the Pharisee saw it, he marveled that He had not first washed before dinner.

39 (AK)Then the Lord said to him, “Now you Pharisees make the outside of the cup and dish clean, but (AL)your inward part is full of [k]greed and wickedness. 40 Foolish ones! Did not (AM)He who made the outside make the inside also? 41 (AN)But rather give alms of [l]such things as you have; then indeed all things are clean to you.

42 (AO)“But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and (AP)pass by justice and the (AQ)love of God. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone. 43 (AR)Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the [m]best seats in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces. 44 (AS)Woe to you, [n]scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! 46 And He said, “Woe to you also, lawyers! (AU)For you load men with burdens hard to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers. 47 (AV)Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. 48 In fact, you bear witness that you approve the deeds of your fathers; for they indeed killed them, and you build their tombs. 49 Therefore the wisdom of God also said, (AW)‘I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute,’ 50 that the blood of all the prophets which was shed from the foundation of the world may be required of this generation, 51 (AX)from the blood of Abel to (AY)the blood of Zechariah who perished between the altar and the temple. Yes, I say to you, it shall be required of this generation.

52 (AZ)“Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered.”

Jesus’ Teaching on Prayer(A)(B)

11 One day Jesus was praying(C) in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord,(D) teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”

2 He said to them, “When you pray, say:

“‘Father,[a]
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom(E) come.[b]
3 Give us each day our daily bread.
4 Forgive us our sins,
    for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.[c](F)
And lead us not into temptation.[d]’”(G)

5 Then Jesus said to them, “Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread; 6 a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have no food to offer him.’ 7 And suppose the one inside answers, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can’t get up and give you anything.’ 8 I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity[e] he will surely get up and give you as much as you need.(H)

9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you;(I) seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for[f] a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

Jesus and Beelzebul(J)(K)

14 Jesus was driving out a demon that was mute. When the demon left, the man who had been mute spoke, and the crowd was amazed.(L) 15 But some of them said, “By Beelzebul,(M) the prince of demons, he is driving out demons.”(N) 16 Others tested him by asking for a sign from heaven.(O)

17 Jesus knew their thoughts(P) and said to them: “Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall. 18 If Satan(Q) is divided against himself, how can his kingdom stand? I say this because you claim that I drive out demons by Beelzebul. 19 Now if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your followers drive them out? So then, they will be your judges. 20 But if I drive out demons by the finger of God,(R) then the kingdom of God(S) has come upon you.

21 “When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe. 22 But when someone stronger attacks and overpowers him, he takes away the armor in which the man trusted and divides up his plunder.

23 “Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.(T)

24 “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ 25 When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order. 26 Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first.”(U)

27 As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.”(V)

28 He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God(W) and obey it.”(X)

The Sign of Jonah(Y)

29 As the crowds increased, Jesus said, “This is a wicked generation. It asks for a sign,(Z) but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah.(AA) 30 For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so also will the Son of Man be to this generation. 31 The Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with the people of this generation and condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to listen to Solomon’s wisdom;(AB) and now something greater than Solomon is here. 32 The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah;(AC) and now something greater than Jonah is here.

The Lamp of the Body(AD)

33 “No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light.(AE) 34 Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy,[g] your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy,[h] your body also is full of darkness. 35 See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. 36 Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be just as full of light as when a lamp shines its light on you.”

Woes on the Pharisees and the Experts in the Law

37 When Jesus had finished speaking, a Pharisee invited him to eat with him; so he went in and reclined at the table.(AF) 38 But the Pharisee was surprised when he noticed that Jesus did not first wash before the meal.(AG)

39 Then the Lord(AH) said to him, “Now then, you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness.(AI) 40 You foolish people!(AJ) Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also? 41 But now as for what is inside you—be generous to the poor,(AK) and everything will be clean for you.(AL)

42 “Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth(AM) of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God.(AN) You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.(AO)

43 “Woe to you Pharisees, because you love the most important seats in the synagogues and respectful greetings in the marketplaces.(AP)

44 “Woe to you, because you are like unmarked graves,(AQ) which people walk over without knowing it.”

45 One of the experts in the law(AR) answered him, “Teacher, when you say these things, you insult us also.”

46 Jesus replied, “And you experts in the law, woe to you, because you load people down with burdens they can hardly carry, and you yourselves will not lift one finger to help them.(AS)

47 “Woe to you, because you build tombs for the prophets, and it was your ancestors who killed them. 48 So you testify that you approve of what your ancestors did; they killed the prophets, and you build their tombs.(AT) 49 Because of this, God in his wisdom(AU) said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and others they will persecute.’(AV) 50 Therefore this generation will be held responsible for the blood of all the prophets that has been shed since the beginning of the world, 51 from the blood of Abel(AW) to the blood of Zechariah,(AX) who was killed between the altar and the sanctuary. Yes, I tell you, this generation will be held responsible for it all.(AY)

52 “Woe to you experts in the law, because you have taken away the key to knowledge. You yourselves have not entered, and you have hindered those who were entering.”(AZ)

53 When Jesus went outside, the Pharisees and the teachers of the law began to oppose him fiercely and to besiege him with questions, 54 waiting to catch him in something he might say.(BA)
