在拿撒勒被拒绝
6 耶稣离开那地方，来到自己的家乡，他的门徒们也跟着他。 2 到了安息日，他开始在会堂里教导人。许多人听了就惊叹不已，说：“这个人从哪里得来这些呢？赐给这个人的到底是什么样的智慧？藉着他的手所行出来的到底是怎么样的神迹？ 3 这不就是那木匠吗？不就是玛丽亚的儿子，雅各、约西、犹大和西门的哥哥[a]吗？他的妹妹们[b]不也和我们在这里吗？”这样，他们就对耶稣很反感[c]。
4 耶稣对他们说：“先知除了在本乡、本族、本家以外，没有不受尊重的。” 5 所以，耶稣无法在那里行什么神迹，只是按手在几个病人身上，使他们痊愈。 6 因为他们的不信，耶稣十分感慨。
差派十二使徒
于是，他就走遍各村庄四处教导人。 7 耶稣召来十二使徒[d]，开始差派他们两个两个地出去，赐给他们权柄胜过污灵， 8 并且吩咐他们说：“在路上除了手杖什么都不要带。不要带食物，不要带行囊，腰包里也不要带钱。 9 要穿上鞋子。不要穿两件衣服[e]。” 10 他又对他们说：“无论在哪里，你们进了一家，就要住在哪里，直到离开那地方。 11 如果有什么地方的人不接受你们，也不听你们，你们离开那里的时候，要把脚底的尘土跺掉，做为对他们的见证。[f]”
12 使徒们就出去宣讲道：人人都当悔改。 13 他们驱赶了很多鬼魔，又用油来膏抹许多病人，使他们痊愈。
施洗约翰之死
14 耶稣的名声被传扬出去，希律王也听见了。有些人[g]说：“施洗者[h]约翰从死人中复活了，所以这些能力在他里面做工。” 15 也有些人说：“他是以利亚。”还有些人说：“他是个先知，像古代[i]先知中的一位。”
16 但希律听了却说：“是被我砍了头的约翰！这个人[j]复活了！” 17 原来，希律为了他弟弟[k]菲利普的妻子希罗迪娅的缘故，曾经派人去拘捕约翰，把他捆锁在监狱里。希律娶了这个女人， 18 而约翰一直对希律说：“你占有自己兄弟的妻子是不可以的。” 19 所以希罗迪娅对约翰怀恨在心，想要杀他，只是不能。 20 这是因为希律敬畏约翰，知道他是义人，是圣人，所以保护着他。希律听约翰讲说的时候，虽然心里十分困惑[l]，还是乐意听他的。
21 可是时机来了。希律在自己生日那天预备宴席，招待他的大臣和军官们，以及加利利的首领们。 22 希罗迪娅的女儿[m]进来跳舞，使希律和一同坐席的人都非常喜悦。王就对女孩说：“你无论想要什么，向我求，我就会给你。” 23 并且对她郑重地起誓：“你无论向我求什么，即使是我国家的一半，我也会给你！”
24 于是女孩出去问她母亲说：“我应该要什么呢？”
她母亲说：“要施洗者[n]约翰的头！”
25 女孩随即赶快进到王那里，要求说：“我愿王立即把施洗者[o]约翰的头放在盘子里给我。”
26 王就变得很忧愁，但因所起的誓，又因坐席的人，就不好拒绝她。 27 于是王立刻派了刽子手，命令把约翰的头拿来。刽子手就去，在监狱里砍下了约翰的头， 28 把他的头放在盘子上，端给女孩，女孩就把它交给了母亲。 29 约翰的门徒们听到了，就来把他的遗体领去，安放在坟墓里。
五饼二鱼
30 使徒们聚集到耶稣那里，把他们所做的和教导的一切告诉了他。 31 耶稣对他们说：“来，你们自己单独到一个荒僻的地方休息一会儿吧。”这是因为来往的人多，他们连吃饭的时间也没有。 32 于是他们悄悄地坐船出发，往一个荒僻的地方去。 33 可是众人[p]看见他们离开了，并且有许多人认出他们[q]，就从各城镇一起徒步赶往那里，而且比他们先到了[r]。 34 耶稣下了船，看见一大群人，就对他们动了怜悯之心，因为他们像羊没有牧人那样。耶稣就开始教导他们很多事。
35 天已经晚了，他的门徒们来到耶稣面前，说：“这是个荒僻的地方，而且天已经晚了。 36 请遣散大家，好让他们到周围的田舍和村庄去，为自己买些东西吃[s]。”
37 但耶稣回答他们，说：“你们给他们吃的吧。”
门徒们说：“要我们去买两百个银币[t]的饼给他们吃吗？”
38 耶稣问他们：“你们有多少饼呢？去看看。”
他们察看后，就说：“有五个，还有两条鱼。”
39 耶稣吩咐他们，叫众人一组一组地坐在青草地上。 40 众人就一群一群地坐了下来，有的一百人，有的五十人。 41 耶稣拿起这五个饼和两条鱼，抬头望天，祝福了，然后把饼掰开，不断递给他的门徒们，让他们分给众人。他把两条鱼也分给大家。 42 大家都吃了，并且吃饱了。 43 他们把饼和鱼的碎块收拾起来，装满了十二个篮子。 44 吃饼的人，男人就有五千。
在水面上行走
45 耶稣随即催促他的门徒们上船，要他们先往对岸的伯赛达去；这期间，他自己遣散了人群。 46 他告别了他们，就上山去祷告。 47 到了晚上，船在湖[u]中，只有耶稣一个人在岸上。 48 他看见门徒们由于逆风，划船非常艰苦。天快亮的时候[v]，耶稣在湖面上行走，向他们而去，想要从他们旁边走过去。 49 门徒们看见耶稣在湖面上行走，以为是幽灵，于是喊叫起来， 50 因为他们都看见了他，就惊慌不安。耶稣立刻与他们讲话，对他们说：“鼓起勇气吧！是我，不要怕。” 51 接着，耶稣上了船和他们在一起。这时候风就停了。门徒们心里感到极其惊讶[w]， 52 因为他们不领悟分[x]饼的事，他们还是硬着心。
在革尼撒勒治病
53 他们渡过去，到革尼撒勒上岸，把船拴好。 54 一下船，众人就认出了耶稣。 55 人们跑遍那整个地区，听到耶稣在哪里，就把有病的人用垫子抬到哪里。 56 无论耶稣进到哪里，或村庄、或城镇、或乡下，人们就把病人放在街市上，恳求耶稣只要让他们摸一下他的衣服穗子。凡是摸着的人，都得了救治。

Jesus Goes to His Hometown
6 Jesus left there and went to his hometown, and his followers went with him. 2 On the Sabbath day he taught in the synagogue. Many people heard him and were amazed, saying, “Where did this man get these teachings? What is this wisdom that has been given to him? And where did he get the power to do miracles? 3 He is just the carpenter, the son of Mary and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon. And his sisters are here with us.” So the people were upset with Jesus.
4 Jesus said to them, “A prophet is honored everywhere except in his hometown and with his own people and in his own home.” 5 So Jesus was not able to work any miracles there except to heal a few sick people by putting his hands on them. 6 He was amazed at how many people had no faith.
Then Jesus went to other villages in that area and taught. 7 He called his twelve followers together and got ready to send them out two by two and gave them authority over evil spirits. 8 This is what Jesus commanded them: “Take nothing for your trip except a walking stick. Take no bread, no bag, and no money in your pockets. 9 Wear sandals, but take only the clothes you are wearing. 10 When you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. 11 If the people in a certain place refuse to welcome you or listen to you, leave that place. Shake its dust off your feet[a] as a warning to them.”[b]
12 So the followers went out and preached that people should change their hearts and lives. 13 They forced many demons out and put olive oil on many sick people and healed them.
How John the Baptist Was Killed
14 King Herod heard about Jesus, because he was now well known. Some people said,[c] “He is John the Baptist, who has risen from the dead. That is why he can work these miracles.”
15 Others said, “He is Elijah.”[d]
Other people said, “Jesus is a prophet, like the prophets who lived long ago.”
16 When Herod heard this, he said, “I killed John by cutting off his head. Now he has risen from the dead!”
17 Herod himself had ordered his soldiers to arrest John and put him in prison in order to please his wife, Herodias. She had been the wife of Philip, Herod’s brother, but then Herod had married her. 18 John had been telling Herod, “It is not lawful for you to be married to your brother’s wife.” 19 So Herodias hated John and wanted to kill him. But she couldn’t, 20 because Herod was afraid of John and protected him. He knew John was a good and holy man. Also, though John’s preaching always bothered him, he enjoyed listening to John.
21 Then the perfect time came for Herodias to cause John’s death. On Herod’s birthday, he gave a dinner party for the most important government leaders, the commanders of his army, and the most important people in Galilee. 22 When the daughter of Herodias[e] came in and danced, she pleased Herod and the people eating with him.
So King Herod said to the girl, “Ask me for anything you want, and I will give it to you.” 23 He promised her, “Anything you ask for I will give to you—up to half of my kingdom.”
24 The girl went to her mother and asked, “What should I ask for?”
Her mother answered, “Ask for the head of John the Baptist.”
25 At once the girl went back to the king and said to him, “I want the head of John the Baptist right now on a platter.”
26 Although the king was very sad, he had made a promise, and his dinner guests had heard it. So he did not want to refuse what she asked. 27 Immediately the king sent a soldier to bring John’s head. The soldier went and cut off John’s head in the prison 28 and brought it back on a platter. He gave it to the girl, and the girl gave it to her mother. 29 When John’s followers heard this, they came and got John’s body and put it in a tomb.
More than Five Thousand Fed
30 The apostles gathered around Jesus and told him about all the things they had done and taught. 31 Crowds of people were coming and going so that Jesus and his followers did not even have time to eat. He said to them, “Come away by yourselves, and we will go to a lonely place to get some rest.”
32 So they went in a boat by themselves to a lonely place. 33 But many people saw them leave and recognized them. So from all the towns they ran to the place where Jesus was going, and they got there before him. 34 When he arrived, he saw a great crowd waiting. He felt sorry for them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began to teach them many things.
35 When it was late in the day, his followers came to him and said, “No one lives in this place, and it is already very late. 36 Send the people away so they can go to the countryside and towns around here to buy themselves something to eat.”
37 But Jesus answered, “You give them something to eat.”
They said to him, “We would all have to work a month to earn enough money to buy that much bread!”
38 Jesus asked them, “How many loaves of bread do you have? Go and see.”
When they found out, they said, “Five loaves and two fish.”
39 Then Jesus told his followers to have the people sit in groups on the green grass. 40 So they sat in groups of fifty or a hundred. 41 Jesus took the five loaves and two fish and, looking up to heaven, he thanked God for the food. He divided the bread and gave it to his followers for them to give to the people. Then he divided the two fish among them all. 42 All the people ate and were satisfied. 43 The followers filled twelve baskets with the leftover pieces of bread and fish. 44 There were five thousand men who ate.
Jesus Walks on the Water
45 Immediately Jesus told his followers to get into the boat and go ahead of him to Bethsaida across the lake. He stayed there to send the people home. 46 After sending them away, he went into the hills to pray.
47 That night, the boat was in the middle of the lake, and Jesus was alone on the land. 48 He saw his followers struggling hard to row the boat, because the wind was blowing against them. Between three and six o’clock in the morning, Jesus came to them, walking on the water, and he wanted to walk past the boat. 49 But when they saw him walking on the water, they thought he was a ghost and cried out. 50 They all saw him and were afraid. But quickly Jesus spoke to them and said, “Have courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.” 51 Then he got into the boat with them, and the wind became calm. The followers were greatly amazed. 52 They did not understand about the miracle of the five loaves, because their minds were closed.
53 When they had crossed the lake, they came to shore at Gennesaret and tied the boat there. 54 When they got out of the boat, people immediately recognized Jesus. 55 They ran everywhere in that area and began to bring sick people on mats wherever they heard he was. 56 And everywhere he went—into towns, cities, or countryside—the people brought the sick to the marketplaces. They begged him to let them touch just the edge of his coat, and all who touched it were healed.

Nagtaka ang maraming taong nakikinig sa kanya. Sinabi nila, “Saan kaya niya nakuha ang karunungang iyan? At ano ang karunungang ito na ibinigay sa kanya? Paano siya nakagagawa ng mga himala? 3 Hindi baʼt siya ang karpinterong anak ni Maria, at kapatid nina Santiago, Jose, Judas at Simon? 14 Nabalitaan ni Haring Herodes ang tungkol kay Jesus dahil kilalang-kilala na siya kahit saan. 16 Pero nang mabalitaan ni Herodes ang mga sinabing iyon ng mga tao, sinabi niya, “Muling nabuhay si Juan na pinapugutan ko ng ulo!” 17 Ipinahuli noon ni Herodes si Juan at ipinabilanggo, dahil tinutuligsa ni Juan ang relasyon niya kay Herodias. Si Herodias ay asawa ng kapatid ni Herodes na si Felipe. Pero kinuha siya ni Herodes bilang asawa. 18 Laging sinasabihan ni Juan si Herodes na hindi tama na kunin niya ang asawa ng kanyang kapatid. 19 Kaya nagkimkim ng galit si Herodias kay Juan, at gusto niya itong ipapatay. Pero hindi niya magawa, dahil ayaw pumayag ni Herodes. 20 Takot si Herodes kay Juan dahil alam niyang matuwid at mabuting tao si Juan. Kaya ipinagtatanggol niya ito. Kahit nababagabag siya sa mga sinasabi ni Juan, gustong-gusto pa rin niyang makinig dito.
21 Pero sa wakas ay dumating din ang pagkakataong hinihintay ni Herodias. Kaarawan noon ni Herodes at nagdaos siya ng malaking handaan. Inimbita niya ang mga opisyal ng Galilea, mga kumander ng mga sundalong Romano at iba pang mga kilalang tao roon. 22 Nang oras na ng kasiyahan, pumasok ang anak na babae ni Herodias at nagsayaw. Labis na nasiyahan si Herodes at ang mga bisita niya. Kaya sinabi ni Herodes sa dalaga, “Humingi ka sa akin ng kahit anong gusto mo at ibibigay ko.” 23 At sumumpa pa siya na ibibigay niya sa dalaga kahit ang kalahati pa ng kanyang kaharian. 24 Lumabas muna ang dalaga at tinanong ang kanyang ina kung ano ang hihilingin niya. Sinabihan siya ng kanyang ina na hingin ang ulo ni Juan na tagapagbautismo. 25 Kaya dali-daling bumalik ang dalaga sa hari at sinabi, “Gusto ko pong ibigay ninyo sa akin ngayon din ang ulo ni Juan na tagapagbautismo, na nakalagay sa isang bandehado.” 26 Labis itong ikinalungkot ng hari, pero dahil nangako siya sa harap ng mga bisita niya, hindi siya makatanggi sa dalaga. 27 Kaya pinapunta niya agad sa bilangguan ang isang sundalo upang dalhin sa kanya ang ulo ni Juan. Pumunta ang sundalo sa bilangguan at pinugutan ng ulo si Juan, 28 inilagay niya ang ulo sa bandehado at ibinigay sa dalaga. At ibinigay naman ito ng dalaga sa kanyang ina. 29 Nang mabalitaan ng mga tagasunod ni Juan ang nangyari, kinuha nila ang kanyang bangkay at inilibing.
Pinakain ni Jesus ang 5,000 Tao(D)
30 Bumalik ang mga apostol na inutusan ni Jesus na mangaral, at ikinuwento nila sa kanya ang lahat ng ginawa at ipinangaral nila. 31 Dahil sa dami ng mga taong dumarating at umaalis, wala na silang panahon kahit kumain man lang. Kaya sinabi ni Jesus sa mga tagasunod niya, “Iwan muna natin ang mga taong ito. Pumunta tayo sa ilang para makapagpahinga.” 32 Kaya sumakay sila sa isang bangka at pumunta sa isang ilang.
33 Pero marami ang nakakita at nakakilala sa kanila noong umalis sila. Kaya mabilis namang naglakad ang mga tao mula sa ibaʼt ibang bayan papunta sa lugar na pupuntahan nina Jesus. At nauna pa silang dumating doon. 34 Kaya nang bumaba si Jesus sa bangka, nakita niya ang napakaraming tao. Naawa siya sa kanila, dahil para silang mga tupa na walang pastol. Kaya tinuruan niya sila ng maraming bagay. 35 Nang dapit-hapon na, lumapit kay Jesus ang mga tagasunod niya at sinabi, “Nasa ilang po tayo at malapit nang gumabi. 36 Paalisin nʼyo na po ang mga tao nang makapunta sila sa mga karatig nayon at bukid para makabili ng pagkain.” 37 Pero sinabi ni Jesus sa kanila, “Kayo ang magpakain sa kanila.” Sumagot sila, “Aabutin po ng walong buwang sahod ang gagastusin para sa kanila! Bibili po ba kami ng ganoong halaga ng tinapay para ipakain sa kanila?” 38 Tinanong sila ni Jesus, “Ilan ba ang dala ninyong tinapay? Sige, tingnan nga ninyo.” Tiningnan nga nila, at sinabi kay Jesus, “Mayroon po tayong limang tinapay at dalawang isda.”
39 Pagkatapos, inutusan ni Jesus ang kanyang mga alagad na paupuin ng grupo-grupo ang mga tao sa damuhan. 40 Kaya umupo nga sila ng grupo-grupo, tig-100 at tig-50 bawat grupo. 41 Kinuha ni Jesus ang limang tinapay at dalawang isda. Tumingala siya sa langit at nagpasalamat sa Dios. Pagkatapos, hinati-hati niya ang tinapay at ibinigay sa mga tagasunod niya para ipamigay sa mga tao. Nang madaling-araw na, sumunod sa kanila si Jesus na naglalakad sa ibabaw ng tubig. Lalampasan na lang sana niya sila, 49-50 pero nakita siya ng mga tagasunod niya na lumalakad sa ibabaw ng tubig. Natakot sila at nagsigawan, dahil akala nila ay multo siya. Pero nagsalita agad si Jesus, “Ako ito! Huwag kayong matakot. Lakasan ninyo ang inyong loob.” 51 Sumakay siya sa bangka at biglang tumigil ang malakas na hangin. Namangha sila nang husto, 52 dahil hindi pa rin sila nakakaunawa kahit nakita na nila ang himalang ginawa ni Jesus sa tinapay. Ayaw nilang maniwala dahil matigas ang puso nila.

A Prophet Without Honor(A)
6 Jesus left there and went to his hometown,(B) accompanied by his disciples. 2 When the Sabbath came,(C) he began to teach in the synagogue,(D) and many who heard him were amazed.(E)
“Where did this man get these things?” they asked. “What’s this wisdom that has been given him? What are these remarkable miracles he is performing? 3 Isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph,[a] Judas and Simon?(F) Aren’t his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.(G)
4 Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.”(H) 5 He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on(I) a few sick people and heal them. 6 He was amazed at their lack of faith.
Jesus Sends Out the Twelve(J)
Then Jesus went around teaching from village to village.(K) 7 Calling the Twelve to him,(L) he began to send them out two by two(M) and gave them authority over impure spirits.(N)
8 These were his instructions: “Take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. 9 Wear sandals but not an extra shirt. 10 Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. 11 And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, leave that place and shake the dust off your feet(O) as a testimony against them.”
12 They went out and preached that people should repent.(P) 13 They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil(Q) and healed them.
John the Baptist Beheaded(R)(S)
14 King Herod heard about this, for Jesus’ name had become well known. Some were saying,[b] “John the Baptist(T) has been raised from the dead, and that is why miraculous powers are at work in him.”
15 Others said, “He is Elijah.”(U)
And still others claimed, “He is a prophet,(V) like one of the prophets of long ago.”(W)
16 But when Herod heard this, he said, “John, whom I beheaded, has been raised from the dead!”
17 For Herod himself had given orders to have John arrested, and he had him bound and put in prison.(X) He did this because of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, whom he had married. 18 For John had been saying to Herod, “It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.”(Y) 19 So Herodias nursed a grudge against John and wanted to kill him. But she was not able to, 20 because Herod feared John and protected him, knowing him to be a righteous and holy man.(Z) When Herod heard John, he was greatly puzzled[c]; yet he liked to listen to him.
21 Finally the opportune time came. On his birthday Herod gave a banquet(AA) for his high officials and military commanders and the leading men of Galilee.(AB) 22 When the daughter of[d] Herodias came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his dinner guests.
The king said to the girl, “Ask me for anything you want, and I’ll give it to you.” 23 And he promised her with an oath, “Whatever you ask I will give you, up to half my kingdom.”(AC)
24 She went out and said to her mother, “What shall I ask for?”
“The head of John the Baptist,” she answered.
25 At once the girl hurried in to the king with the request: “I want you to give me right now the head of John the Baptist on a platter.”
26 The king was greatly distressed, but because of his oaths and his dinner guests, he did not want to refuse her. 27 So he immediately sent an executioner with orders to bring John’s head. The man went, beheaded John in the prison, 28 and brought back his head on a platter. He presented it to the girl, and she gave it to her mother. 29 On hearing of this, John’s disciples came and took his body and laid it in a tomb.
Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand(AD)(AE)
30 The apostles(AF) gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught.(AG) 31 Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat,(AH) he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”
32 So they went away by themselves in a boat(AI) to a solitary place. 33 But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them. 34 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd.(AJ) So he began teaching them many things.
35 By this time it was late in the day, so his disciples came to him. “This is a remote place,” they said, “and it’s already very late. 36 Send the people away so that they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.”
37 But he answered, “You give them something to eat.”(AK)
They said to him, “That would take more than half a year’s wages[e]! Are we to go and spend that much on bread and give it to them to eat?”
38 “How many loaves do you have?” he asked. “Go and see.”
When they found out, they said, “Five—and two fish.”(AL)
39 Then Jesus directed them to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass. 40 So they sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties. 41 Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves.(AM) Then he gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people. He also divided the two fish among them all. 42 They all ate and were satisfied, 43 and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish. 44 The number of the men who had eaten was five thousand.
Jesus Walks on the Water(AN)(AO)
45 Immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat(AP) and go on ahead of him to Bethsaida,(AQ) while he dismissed the crowd. 46 After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray.(AR)
47 Later that night, the boat was in the middle of the lake, and he was alone on land. 48 He saw the disciples straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. Shortly before dawn he went out to them, walking on the lake. He was about to pass by them, 49 but when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost.(AS) They cried out, 50 because they all saw him and were terrified.
Immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”(AT) 51 Then he climbed into the boat(AU) with them, and the wind died down.(AV) They were completely amazed, 52 for they had not understood about the loaves; their hearts were hardened.(AW)
53 When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret and anchored there.(AX) 54 As soon as they got out of the boat, people recognized Jesus. 55 They ran throughout that whole region and carried the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was. 56 And wherever he went—into villages, towns or countryside—they placed the sick in the marketplaces. They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak,(AY) and all who touched it were healed.
