基督的先驱
1 神的儿子耶稣基督福音的开始[a]。 2 正如先知以赛亚[b]书上所记载的：
4 于是约翰就来了。他在旷野施洗[g]，并宣讲为罪得赦免而悔改的洗礼。 5 全犹太地区和整个耶路撒冷的人，都出来到他那里，承认自己的罪孽，在约旦河里受他的洗礼[h]。 6 约翰穿的是骆驼毛的衣服[i]，腰束皮带，吃的是蝗虫和野蜜。 7 他宣讲，说：“在我之后，有一位比我更强有力的要来。我就是弯腰为他解鞋带也不配。 8 我用水[j]给你们施洗，但他要用圣灵给你们施洗。”
耶稣受洗
9 在那些日子里，耶稣从加利利的拿撒勒来，在约旦河里受约翰的洗礼[k]。 10 耶稣一从水里上来，就看见诸天裂开了，圣灵好像鸽子降临在他身上。 11 这时候，有声音从诸天传来，说：
“你是我的爱子，
我喜悦你。”
耶稣受试探
12 圣灵立刻催促耶稣到旷野里去。 13 他在旷野里四十天，受撒旦的试探。他与野兽在一起，并有天使们伺候他。
在加利利的服事
14 约翰被逮捕以后，耶稣来到加利利，传神的[l]福音， 15 说：“日期满了，神的国近了！你们应当悔改，相信福音！”
第一批门徒
16 耶稣从加利利湖边[m]经过[n]，看见西门和他弟弟[o]安得烈，正在湖里撒网；他们本来是渔夫。
17 耶稣就对他们说：“来跟从我！我将要使你们成为得人的渔夫。” 18 他们立刻舍弃渔网，跟从了耶稣。 19 稍往前走，耶稣看见西庇太的儿子雅各和他弟弟约翰。他们正在船上修补渔网。 20 耶稣随即召唤他们。他们就离开了在船上的父亲西庇太和雇工们，并且跟着耶稣去了。
驱赶污灵
21 他们来到迦百农。安息日一到，耶稣就进了会堂教导人。 22 众人对耶稣的教导都惊叹不已，因为他教导他们，就像有权柄的人，不像经文士们。
23 忽然[p]，在他们的会堂里，有一个被污灵附身的人喊叫， 24 说：“[q]拿撒勒人耶稣，我们与你有什么关系？你来毁灭我们吗？我知道你是谁，你是神的那位圣者。”
25 耶稣斥责污灵说：“住口！从这个人里面出来！” 26 污灵使那个人抽疯，然后大声喊叫着从他里面出来了。
27 结果大家都惊讶不已，彼此谈论说：“这是怎么回事？！一个带有权柄的新的教导！他命令污灵[r]，污灵就都听从他！” 28 于是耶稣的消息很快地传遍了加利利周围所有的地区。
在迦百农治病
29 他们从会堂出来，随即到西门和安得烈的家去，雅各和约翰也一起去。 30 西门的岳母正发烧躺着，他们立刻把她的事告诉耶稣。 31 耶稣上前去，握着她的手，扶她起来，烧就[s]退了。于是她就服事他们。
32 到了傍晚，日落的时候，人们带着所有患病的、有鬼魔附身的，到耶稣那里去。 33 全城的人都聚集在门前。 34 耶稣就使许多患有各种疾病的人痊愈，又驱赶了很多鬼魔。他不准鬼魔说话，因为那些鬼魔知道他是谁。
在加利利传道
35 大清早，天还没亮，耶稣就起来，走出去，到一个荒僻的地方，在那里祷告。 36 西门和那些与他在一起的人去寻找耶稣， 37 找到了，就对他说：“大家都在找你呢！”
38 耶稣对他们说：“我们往别的地方去，[t]到邻近的乡村去吧。我也好在那里传道，因为我是为此而来的。” 39 于是耶稣在全加利利往来[u]，在他们的会堂里传道，并且驱赶鬼魔。
洁净麻风病人
40 有一个麻风病人来到耶稣面前，跪下来[v]恳求他说：“如果你愿意，你就能洁净我。”
41 耶稣动了怜悯之心，就伸出手来摸他，说：“我愿意，你洁净了吧！” 42 麻风病立刻离开他，他就被洁净了。 43 耶稣当下催他离开，并严厉地告诫他， 44 说：“你要注意，对任何人都不要说什么，只要去把自己给祭司看，并且为了你的洁净，献上摩西所吩咐的祭物，好对他们做见证。” 45 但那个人一出去，就开始大加宣扬，把这件事传开了，结果耶稣不能再公开进城，只好留在外面荒僻的地方。可是人们还是从各处来到他那里。

Juan el Bautista en el desierto(A)
1 Principio de la buena noticia de Jesús el Mesías, el Hijo de Dios.
2 Está escrito en el libro del profeta Isaías:
«Envío mi mensajero delante de ti,
para que te prepare el camino.
3 Una voz grita en el desierto:
“Preparen el camino del Señor;
ábranle un camino recto.”»
4 Y así se presentó Juan el Bautista en el desierto; decía a todos que debían volverse a Dios y ser bautizados, para que Dios les perdonara sus pecados. 5 Todos los de la región de Judea y de la ciudad de Jerusalén salían a oírlo. Confesaban sus pecados, y Juan los bautizaba en el río Jordán.
6 La ropa de Juan estaba hecha de pelo de camello, y se la sujetaba al cuerpo con un cinturón de cuero; y comía langostas y miel del monte. 7 En su proclamación decía: «Después de mí viene uno más poderoso que yo, que ni siquiera merezco agacharme para desatarle la correa de sus sandalias. 8 Yo los he bautizado a ustedes con agua; pero él los bautizará con el Espíritu Santo.»
Jesús es bautizado(B)
9 Por aquellos días, Jesús salió de Nazaret, que está en la región de Galilea, y Juan lo bautizó en el Jordán. 10 En el momento de salir del agua, Jesús vio que el cielo se abría y que el Espíritu bajaba sobre él como una paloma. 11 Y se oyó una voz del cielo, que decía: «Tú eres mi Hijo amado, a quien he elegido.»

Jesús llama a cuatro pescadores(E)
16 Jesús pasaba por la orilla del Lago de Galilea, cuando vio a Simón y a su hermano Andrés. Eran pescadores, y estaban echando la red al agua. 17 Les dijo Jesús:
—Síganme, y yo haré que ustedes sean pescadores de hombres.
18 Al momento dejaron sus redes y se fueron con él.
19 Un poco más adelante, Jesús vio a Santiago y a su hermano Juan, hijos de Zebedeo, que estaban en una barca arreglando las redes. 20 En seguida los llamó, y ellos dejaron a su padre Zebedeo en la barca con sus ayudantes, y se fueron con Jesús.
Un hombre que tenía un espíritu impuro(F)
21 Llegaron a Cafarnaúm, y en el sábado Jesús entró en la sinagoga y comenzó a enseñar. 22 La gente se admiraba de cómo les enseñaba, porque lo hacía con plena autoridad y no como los maestros de la ley. 23 En la sinagoga del pueblo había un hombre que tenía un espíritu impuro, el cual gritó:
24 —¿Por qué te metes con nosotros, Jesús de Nazaret? ¿Has venido a destruirnos? Yo te conozco, y sé que eres el Santo de Dios.
25 Jesús reprendió a aquel espíritu, diciéndole:
—¡Cállate y deja a este hombre!
26 El espíritu impuro hizo que al hombre le diera un ataque, y gritando con gran fuerza salió de él. 27 Todos se asustaron, y se preguntaban unos a otros:
—¿Qué es esto? ¡Enseña de una manera nueva, y con plena autoridad! ¡Incluso a los espíritus impuros da órdenes, y lo obedecen!
28 Y muy pronto la fama de Jesús se extendió por toda la región de Galilea.
Jesús sana a la suegra de Simón(G)
29 Cuando salieron de la sinagoga, Jesús fue con Santiago y Juan a casa de Simón y Andrés. 30 La suegra de Simón estaba en cama, con fiebre. Se lo dijeron a Jesús, 31 y él se acercó, y tomándola de la mano la levantó; al momento se le quitó la fiebre y comenzó a atenderlos.
Jesús sana a muchos enfermos(H)
32 Al anochecer, cuando ya se había puesto el sol, llevaron todos los enfermos y endemoniados a Jesús, 33 y el pueblo entero se reunió a la puerta. 34 Jesús sanó de toda clase de enfermedades a mucha gente, y expulsó a muchos demonios; pero no dejaba que los demonios hablaran, porque ellos lo conocían.
Jesús anuncia el mensaje en las sinagogas(I)
35 De madrugada, cuando todavía estaba oscuro, Jesús se levantó y salió de la ciudad para ir a orar a un lugar solitario. 36 Simón y sus compañeros fueron en busca de Jesús, 37 y cuando lo encontraron le dijeron:
—Todos te están buscando.
38 Pero él les contestó:
—Vamos a los otros lugares cercanos; también allí debo anunciar el mensaje, porque para esto he salido.
39 Así que Jesús andaba por toda Galilea, anunciando el mensaje en las sinagogas de cada lugar y expulsando a los demonios.
Jesús sana a un leproso(J)
40 Un hombre enfermo de lepra se acercó a Jesús, y poniéndose de rodillas le dijo:
—Si quieres, puedes limpiarme de mi enfermedad.
41 Jesús tuvo compasión de él; lo tocó con la mano y dijo:
—Quiero. ¡Queda limpio!
42 Al momento se le quitó la lepra al enfermo, y quedó limpio. 43 Jesús lo despidió en seguida, y le recomendó mucho:
44 —Mira, no se lo digas a nadie; solamente ve y preséntate al sacerdote, y lleva, por tu purificación, la ofrenda que ordenó Moisés, para que conste ante los sacerdotes.
45 Pero el hombre se fue y comenzó a contar a todos lo que había pasado. Por eso Jesús ya no podía entrar abiertamente en ningún pueblo, sino que se quedaba fuera, en lugares donde no había gente; pero de todas partes acudían a verlo.

1 Ésta es la historia de cómo empezaron a anunciarse las buenas noticias acerca de Jesús, que es el Hijo de Dios y el Mesías. 2 Todo comenzó como Dios lo había anunciado por medio del profeta Isaías:
«Yo envío a mi mensajero
delante de ti,
y él va a preparar todo
para tu llegada.
3 »Alguien grita en el desierto:
“¡Prepárenle el camino a nuestro Dios!
¡Ábranle paso!
¡Que no encuentre estorbos!”»
4-8 Por esos días, Juan el Bautista apareció en el desierto. Se vestía con ropa hecha de pelo de camello y usaba un taparrabos de cuero. Comía saltamontes y miel silvestre.
Juan le decía a la gente: «¡Bautícense y demuestren que ya no quieren hacer lo malo! Sólo así Dios los perdonará.» También decía: «Después de mí viene alguien más poderoso que yo. ¡Ni siquiera merezco ser su esclavo! Yo los he bautizado a ustedes con agua, pero él los bautizará con el Espíritu Santo.»
Todos los que vivían en la región de Judea, y en Jerusalén, iban al desierto para oír a Juan. Muchos confesaban sus pecados y Juan los bautizaba en el río Jordán.
Juan bautiza a Jesús
9 En esos días, Jesús estaba en la región de Galilea, en un pueblo llamado Nazaret. Desde allí viajó hasta el río Jordán, donde Juan lo bautizó. 10 Cuando Jesús salió del agua, vio que se abría el cielo, y que el Espíritu de Dios bajaba sobre él en forma de paloma. 11 En ese momento, una voz que venía del cielo le dijo: «Tú eres mi Hijo, a quien quiero mucho. Estoy muy contento contigo.»
Jesús vence al diablo
12 De inmediato, el Espíritu de Dios llevó a Jesús al desierto. 13 Y Jesús estuvo allí cuarenta días, viviendo entre los animales salvajes. Satanás trataba de hacerlo caer en sus trampas, pero los ángeles de Dios cuidaban a Jesús.
Jesús comienza su trabajo
14 Después de que metieron a Juan en la cárcel, Jesús fue a la región de Galilea. Allí anunciaba las buenas noticias acerca de Dios: 15 «¡Ya está cerca el día en que Dios comenzará a reinar! Vuélvanse a Dios y crean en la buena noticia.»
Jesús elige a cuatro pescadores
16 Jesús pasaba por la orilla del Lago de Galilea, cuando vio a Simón y a Andrés, dos pescadores que eran hermanos, y que estaban pescando con sus redes. 17 Jesús les dijo: «Síganme. En lugar de pescar peces, les voy a enseñar a ganar seguidores para mí.»
18 En ese mismo instante, Simón y Andrés dejaron sus redes y siguieron a Jesús.
19 Un poco más adelante, Jesús vio a Santiago y a Juan, hijos de Zebedeo. Ellos también eran pescadores, y estaban en una barca arreglando las redes. 20 Jesús los llamó, y ellos lo siguieron, dejando a su padre en la barca, con los empleados.
El hombre con un espíritu malo
21 Jesús y sus discípulos fueron al pueblo de Cafarnaúm. El sábado, Jesús fue a la sinagoga y comenzó a enseñar. 22 Todos estaban admirados de sus enseñanzas, pues cuando les hablaba, lo hacía con autoridad, y no como los maestros de la Ley.
23 En la sinagoga, había un hombre que tenía un espíritu malo. 24 El espíritu le gritó a Jesús:
—¡Jesús de Nazaret! ¿Qué tienes contra nosotros? ¿Acaso vienes a destruirnos? Yo te conozco. ¡Tú eres el Hijo de Dios![a]
25 Jesús reprendió al espíritu malo y le dijo:
—¡Cállate! ¡Sal de este hombre!
26 El espíritu malo salió gritando y haciendo que el hombre se pusiera a temblar muy fuerte.
27 La gente se quedó muy asombrada, y se preguntaba: «¿Qué es esto? ¿Una nueva enseñanza? ¿Qué clase de poder tiene este hombre? Con autoridad y poder ordena a los espíritus malos que salgan, ¡y ellos lo obedecen!»
28 Y Jesús se hizo famoso en toda la región de Galilea.
Jesús sana a mucha gente
29 Luego Jesús salió de la sinagoga y se fue con Santiago y Juan a la casa de Simón y Andrés. 30 Cuando entró en la casa, le dijeron que la suegra de Simón estaba enferma y con fiebre. 31 Jesús fue a verla, la tomó de la mano y la levantó. En ese mismo instante la fiebre se le fue, y la suegra de Simón les sirvió de comer.
32 Al anochecer, la gente le llevó a Jesús todos los enfermos y todos los que tenían demonios. 33 Todo el pueblo se reunió a la entrada de la casa de Simón. 34 Allí Jesús sanó a mucha gente que tenía diferentes enfermedades, y también expulsó a muchos demonios. Pero no dejaba hablar a esos demonios, porque ellos lo conocían.
Jesús anuncia las buenas noticias
35 En la madrugada, Jesús se levantó y fue a un lugar solitario para orar. 36 Más tarde, Simón y sus compañeros salieron a buscarlo. 37 Cuando lo encontraron, le dijeron:
—Todos te andan buscando.
38 Pero Jesús les dijo:
—Vamos a otros pueblos cercanos. También allí debo anunciar estas buenas noticias, pues para eso vine al mundo.
39 Jesús recorrió toda la región de Galilea anunciando las buenas noticias en las sinagogas de cada pueblo, y expulsando a los demonios.
Jesús sana a un leproso
40 Un hombre que tenía la piel enferma se acercó a Jesús, se arrodilló ante él y le dijo:
—Señor, yo sé que tú puedes sanarme.[b] ¿Quieres hacerlo?
41 Jesús tuvo compasión del enfermo, extendió la mano, lo tocó y le dijo:
—¡Quiero hacerlo! ¡Ya estás sano!
42 De inmediato, aquel hombre quedó completamente sano; 43 pero Jesús lo despidió con una seria advertencia:
44 —No le digas a nadie lo que te sucedió. Sólo ve con el sacerdote para que te examine, y lleva la ofrenda que Moisés ordenó.[c] Así los sacerdotes verán que ya no tienes esa enfermedad.
45 Pero el hombre empezó a contarles a todos cómo había sido sanado. Por eso Jesús no podía entrar libremente en los pueblos, sino que tenía que quedarse en las afueras, donde no había gente. De todos modos, la gente iba a verlo.

- Marcos 1:40 Puedes sanarme: lit. puedes limpiarme. En tiempos de Jesús, las personas con enfermedades en la piel eran consideradas como impuras delante de Dios. John Prepares the Way(A)
1 This is the beginning of the Good News about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
2 The prophet Isaiah wrote,
“I am sending my messenger ahead of you
to prepare the way for you.”
3 “A voice cries out in the desert:
‘Prepare the way for the Lord!
Make his paths straight!’ ”
4 John the Baptizer was in the desert telling people about a baptism of repentance [a] for the forgiveness of sins. 5 All Judea and all the people of Jerusalem went to him. As they confessed their sins, he baptized them in the Jordan River.
6 John was dressed in clothes made from camel’s hair. He wore a leather belt around his waist and ate locusts and wild honey.
7 He announced, “The one who comes after me is more powerful than I. I am not worthy to bend down and untie his sandal straps. 8 I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
John Baptizes Jesus(B)
9 At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan River. 10 As Jesus came out of the water, he saw heaven split open and the Spirit coming down to him as a dove. 11 A voice from heaven said, “You are my Son, whom I love. I am pleased with you.”
Satan Tempts Jesus(C)
12 At once the Spirit brought him into the desert, 13 where he was tempted by Satan for 40 days. He was there with the wild animals, and the angels took care of him.
Calling of the First Disciples(D)
14 After John had been put in prison, Jesus went to Galilee and told people the Good News of God. 15 He said, “The time has come, and God’s kingdom is near. Change the way you think and act, and believe the Good News.”
16 As he was going along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew. They were throwing a net into the sea because they were fishermen. 17 Jesus said to them, “Come, follow me! I will teach you how to catch people instead of fish.” 18 They immediately left their nets and followed him.
19 As Jesus went on a little farther, he saw James and John, the sons of Zebedee. They were in a boat preparing their nets ⌞to go fishing⌟. 20 He immediately called them, and they left their father Zebedee and the hired men in the boat and followed Jesus.
Jesus Forces an Evil Spirit out of a Man(E)
21 Then they went to Capernaum. On the next day of rest—a holy day, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach. 22 The people were amazed at his teachings. Unlike their experts in Moses’ Teachings, he taught them with authority.
23 At that time there was a man in the synagogue who was controlled by an evil spirit. He shouted, 24 “What do you want with us, Jesus from Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”
25 Jesus ordered the spirit, “Keep quiet, and come out of him!” 26 The evil spirit threw the man into convulsions and came out of him with a loud shriek.
27 Everyone was stunned. They said to each other, “What is this? This is a new teaching that has authority behind it! He gives orders to evil spirits, and they obey him.”
28 The news about him spread quickly throughout the surrounding region of Galilee.
Jesus Cures Simon’s Mother-in-Law and Many Others(F)
29 After they left the synagogue, they went directly to the house of Simon and Andrew. James and John went with them. 30 Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever. The first thing they did was to tell Jesus about her. 31 Jesus went to her, took her hand, and helped her get up. The fever went away, and she prepared a meal for them.
32 In the evening, when the sun had set, people brought to him everyone who was sick and those possessed by demons. 33 The whole city had gathered at his door. 34 He cured many who were sick with various diseases and forced many demons out of people. However, he would not allow the demons to speak. After all, they knew who he was.
Spreading the Good News in Galilee(G)
35 In the morning, long before sunrise, Jesus went to a place where he could be alone to pray. 36 Simon and his friends searched for him. 37 When they found him, they told him, “Everyone is looking for you.”
38 Jesus said to them, “Let’s go somewhere else, to the small towns that are nearby. I have to spread ⌞the Good News⌟ in them also. This is why I have come.”
39 So he went to spread ⌞the Good News⌟ in the synagogues all over Galilee, and he forced demons out of people.
Jesus Cures a Man with a Skin Disease(H)
40 Then a man with a serious skin disease came to him. The man fell to his knees and begged Jesus, “If you’re willing, you can make me clean.” [b]
41 Jesus felt sorry for him, reached out, touched him, and said, “I’m willing. So be clean!”
42 Immediately, his skin disease went away, and he was clean.
43 Jesus sent him away at once and warned him, 44 “Don’t tell anyone about this! Instead, show yourself to the priest. Then offer the sacrifices which Moses commanded as proof to people that you are clean.”
45 When the man left, he began to talk freely. He spread his story so widely that Jesus could no longer enter any city openly. Instead, he stayed in places where he could be alone. But people still kept coming to him from everywhere.

John the Baptist Prepares the Way(A)
1 The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah,[a] the Son of God,[b](B) 2 as it is written in Isaiah the prophet:
“I will send my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way”[c](C)—
3 “a voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.’”[d](D)
4 And so John the Baptist(E) appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance(F) for the forgiveness of sins.(G) 5 The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. 6 John wore clothing made of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist,(H) and he ate locusts(I) and wild honey. 7 And this was his message: “After me comes the one more powerful than I, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie.(J) 8 I baptize you with[e] water, but he will baptize you with[f] the Holy Spirit.”(K)
The Baptism and Testing of Jesus(L)(M)
9 At that time Jesus came from Nazareth(N) in Galilee and was baptized by John(O) in the Jordan. 10 Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.(P) 11 And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son,(Q) whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”(R)
12 At once the Spirit sent him out into the wilderness, 13 and he was in the wilderness forty days,(S) being tempted[g] by Satan.(T) He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.
Jesus Announces the Good News(U)
14 After John(V) was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee,(W) proclaiming the good news of God.(X) 15 “The time has come,”(Y) he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe(Z) the good news!”(AA)
Jesus Calls His First Disciples
16 As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 17 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 18 At once they left their nets and followed him.(AB)
19 When he had gone a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat, preparing their nets. 20 Without delay he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.
Jesus Drives Out an Impure Spirit(AC)
21 They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach.(AD) 22 The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law.(AE) 23 Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit cried out, 24 “What do you want with us,(AF) Jesus of Nazareth?(AG) Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”(AH)
25 “Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly. “Come out of him!”(AI) 26 The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.(AJ)
27 The people were all so amazed(AK) that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.” 28 News about him spread quickly over the whole region(AL) of Galilee.
Jesus Heals Many(AM)(AN)
29 As soon as they left the synagogue,(AO) they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. 30 Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they immediately told Jesus about her. 31 So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up.(AP) The fever left her and she began to wait on them.
32 That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed.(AQ) 33 The whole town gathered at the door, 34 and Jesus healed many who had various diseases.(AR) He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.(AS)
Jesus Prays in a Solitary Place(AT)
35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.(AU) 36 Simon and his companions went to look for him, 37 and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!”
38 Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.”(AV) 39 So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues(AW) and driving out demons.(AX)
Jesus Heals a Man With Leprosy(AY)
40 A man with leprosy[h] came to him and begged him on his knees,(AZ) “If you are willing, you can make me clean.”
41 Jesus was indignant.[i] He reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” 42 Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed.
43 Jesus sent him away at once with a strong warning: 44 “See that you don’t tell this to anyone.(BA) But go, show yourself to the priest(BB) and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing,(BC) as a testimony to them.” 45 Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places.(BD) Yet the people still came to him from everywhere.(BE)
