4 耶稣被圣灵充满，从约旦河回来，圣灵将他引到旷野，四十天受魔鬼的试探。 2 那些日子没有吃什么，日子满了，他就饿了。 3 魔鬼对他说：“你若是神的儿子，可以吩咐这块石头变成食物！” 4 耶稣回答说：“经上记着说：‘人活着不是单靠食物，乃是靠神口里所出的一切话。’” 5 魔鬼又领他上了高山，霎时间把天下的万国都指给他看， 6 对他说：“这一切权柄、荣华我都要给你，因为这原是交付我的，我愿意给谁就给谁。 7 你若在我面前下拜，这都要归你。” 8 耶稣说：“经上记着说：‘当拜主你的神，单要侍奉他。’” 9 魔鬼又领他到耶路撒冷去，叫他站在殿顶[a]上，对他说：“你若是神的儿子，可以从这里跳下去！ 10 因为经上记着说：‘主要为你吩咐他的使者保护你， 11 他们要用手托着你，免得你的脚碰在石头上。’” 12 耶稣对他说：“经上说：‘不可试探主你的神。’”
13 魔鬼用完了各样的试探，就暂时离开耶稣。
14 耶稣满有圣灵的能力，回到加利利，他的名声就传遍了四方。 15 他在各会堂里教训人，众人都称赞他。
耶稣在拿撒勒传道
16 耶稣来到拿撒勒，就是他长大的地方，在安息日，照他平常的规矩进了会堂，站起来要念圣经。 17 有人把先知以赛亚的书交给他，他就打开，找到一处写着说： 18 “主的灵在我身上，因为他用膏膏我，叫我传福音给贫穷的人，差遣我报告被掳的得释放、瞎眼的得看见，叫那受压制的得自由， 19 报告神悦纳人的禧年。” 20 于是把书卷起来，交还执事，就坐下。会堂里的人都定睛看他。 21 耶稣对他们说：“今天这经应验在你们耳中了。” 22 众人都称赞他，并稀奇他口中所出的恩言，又说：“这不是约瑟的儿子吗？” 23 耶稣对他们说：“你们必引这俗语向我说：‘医生，你医治自己吧！我们听见你在迦百农所行的事，也当行在你自己家乡里！’” 24 又说：“我实在告诉你们：没有先知在自己家乡被人悦纳的。
被撵出城
25 “我对你们说实话，当以利亚的时候，天闭塞了三年零六个月，遍地有大饥荒，那时以色列中有许多寡妇， 26 以利亚并没有奉差往她们一个人那里去，只奉差往西顿的撒勒法一个寡妇那里去。 27 先知以利沙的时候，以色列中有许多长大麻风的，但内中除了叙利亚国的乃缦，没有一个得洁净的。” 28 会堂里的人听见这话，都怒气满胸， 29 就起来撵他出城。他们的城造在山上。他们带他到山崖，要把他推下去。 30 他却从他们中间直行，过去了。
在迦百农赶逐污鬼
31 耶稣下到迦百农，就是加利利的一座城，在安息日教训众人。 32 他们很稀奇他的教训，因为他的话里有权柄。 33 在会堂里有一个人被污鬼的精气附着，大声喊叫说： 34 “唉！拿撒勒的耶稣，我们与你有什么相干？你来灭我们吗？我知道你是谁，乃是神的圣者！” 35 耶稣责备他说：“不要作声！从这人身上出来吧！”鬼把那人摔倒在众人中间，就出来了，却也没有害他。 36 众人都惊讶，彼此对问说：“这是什么道理呢？因为他用权柄能力吩咐污鬼，污鬼就出来。” 37 于是耶稣的名声传遍了周围地方。
医西门岳母
38 耶稣出了会堂，进了西门的家。西门的岳母害热病甚重，有人为她求耶稣。 39 耶稣站在她旁边，斥责那热病，热就退了。她立刻起来服侍他们。
40 日落的时候，凡有病人的，不论害什么病，都带到耶稣那里。耶稣按手在他们各人身上，医好他们。 41 又有鬼从好些人身上出来，喊着说：“你是神的儿子！”耶稣斥责他们，不许他们说话，因为他们知道他是基督。

In The Wilderness, Jesus Is Tempted By Satan To Act Contrary To His Father’s Will
4 And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan. And He was being led in the Spirit in the wilderness 2 for forty days while being tempted by the devil. And He did not eat anything during those days. And they having been completed, He was hungry. 3 And the devil said to Him, “If You are[a] God’s Son, say[b] to this stone that it should become bread”. 4 And Jesus responded to him, “It has been written [in Deut 8:3] that ‘Mankind[c] shall not live on bread alone’”. 5 And having led Him up, he showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said to Him, “I will give You all this authority and their glory, because it has been handed-over to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. 7 Therefore if You worship before me, it will all be Yours”. 8 And having responded, Jesus said to him “It has been written [in Deut 6:13], ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only’”. 9 And he led Him into Jerusalem and stood Him on the pinnacle of the temple. And he said to Him, “If You are God’s Son, throw Yourself down from here. 10 For it has been written [in Ps 91:11] that ‘He will command His angels concerning You that they might protect You’, 11 and [in Ps 91:12] that ‘They will lift You up on their hands that You may not ever strike Your foot against a stone’”. 12 And having responded, Jesus said to him that “It has been said [in Deut 6:16], ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test’”. 13 And having completed every temptation, the devil departed from Him until an opportune-time.
Jesus Returns To Galilee And Begins Teaching In Their Synagogues
14 And Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit. And news about Him went out throughout the whole surrounding-region. 15 And He was teaching in their synagogues, while being glorified by all.
Jesus Comes To Nazareth And Reads Isaiah 61:1-2 In The Synagogue
16 And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought-up. And in accordance with the thing having become-a-custom with him, He entered into the synagogue on the day of the Sabbath, and stood up to read. 17 And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to Him. And having unrolled the scroll, He found the place where it had been written [in Isa 61:1-2]: 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because of which He anointed Me to announce-good-news to poor ones. He has sent me out to proclaim a release to captives and recovery-of-sight to blind ones, to send-out with a release ones having been broken[d], 19 to proclaim the acceptable[e] year of the Lord”. 20 And having rolled up the scroll, having given it back to the attendant, He sat-down[f]. And the eyes of everyone in the synagogue were looking-intently at Him.
Jesus Says: Today This Scripture Is Fulfilled In Your Ears. They Drive Him Out
21 And He began to say to them that “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your ears”. 22 And they all were[g] testifying concerning Him, and marveling at the words of [h] grace proceeding from His mouth. And they were saying, “Is not this One Joseph’s son?” 23 And He said to them, “You will surely speak this proverb to Me: ‘Physician, cure yourself’. Do also here in your hometown all-that we heard having taken place in Capernaum”. 24 But He said, “Truly I say to you that no prophet is acceptable[i] in his hometown. 25 And I say to you in accordance with [God’s] truth— there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah when the heaven was shut for three years and six months, when a great famine took place over all the land. 26 And Elijah was sent to none[j] of them, except to [the village of] Zarephath of-Sidon, to a widow woman. 27 And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet. And none of them was cleansed, except Naaman the Syrian”. 28 And they were all filled with fury in the synagogue while hearing these things. 29 And having arisen, they drove Him outside of the city, and led Him up to the brow of the hill on which their city had been built so as to throw Him down the cliff. 30 But He, having gone through the middle of them, was proceeding.
Jesus Goes To Capernaum And Teaches. They Are Astounded At His Authority
31 And He went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee. And He was teaching them on the Sabbath. 32 And they were astounded at His teaching, because His message was with authority.
Jesus Orders a Demon To Leave a Man. They Are Astonished At His Power
33 And in the synagogue there was a man having a spirit of an unclean demon. And he cried-out with a loud voice, 34 “Let-us-alone[k]! What[l] do we have to do with You, Jesus from-Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know You, Who You are: the Holy One of God!” 35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silenced and come out from him”. And the demon, having thrown him down into their midst, came out from him, not having hurt him at all. 36 And astonishment came over everyone. And they were talking-with one another, saying, “What is this message? Because He commands the unclean spirits with authority and power, and they come out!” 37 And the news about Him was going out into every place of the surrounding-region.
In Simon’s Home That Night, Many Are Healed
38 And having arisen from the synagogue, He entered into the house of Simon. Now the mother-in-law of Simon was being gripped[m] with a high fever. And they asked Him concerning her. 39 And having stood over her, He rebuked the fever, and it left her. And having stood up at-once, she was serving them. 40 And while the sun was setting[n], all who were having ones being sick with various diseases brought them to Him. And the One, laying His hands on each one of them, was curing them. 41 And demons also were coming out from many, shouting, and saying that “You are the Son of God!” And rebuking them, He was not allowing them to speak, because they knew that He was the Christ.
Jesus Proceeds On To Announce The Kingdom of God To Other Cities
42 And having become day, having gone out, He went to a desolate[o] place. And the crowds were seeking-for Him. And they came to Him and were holding[p] Him back that He might not proceed from them. 43 And the One said to them that “I must also announce the kingdom of God as good news to the other cities, because I was sent-forth for this purpose”.
While Jesus Teaches The Crowds By The Lake of Gennesaret, He Uses Simon’s Boat
44 And He was proclaiming in the synagogues of Judea.

Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness(A)
4 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit,(B) left the Jordan(C) and was led by the Spirit(D) into the wilderness, 2 where for forty days(E) he was tempted[a] by the devil.(F) He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.
3 The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God,(G) tell this stone to become bread.”
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’[b]”(H)
5 The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world.(I) 6 And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me,(J) and I can give it to anyone I want to. 7 If you worship me, it will all be yours.”
8 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’[c]”(K)
9 The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here. 10 For it is written:
“‘He will command his angels concerning you
to guard you carefully;
11 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’[d]”(L)
12 Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’[e]”(M)
13 When the devil had finished all this tempting,(N) he left him(O) until an opportune time.
Jesus Rejected at Nazareth
14 Jesus returned to Galilee(P) in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside.(Q) 15 He was teaching in their synagogues,(R) and everyone praised him.
16 He went to Nazareth,(S) where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue,(T) as was his custom. He stood up to read,(U) 17 and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,(V)
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news(W) to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”[f](X)
20 Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down.(Y) The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled(Z) in your hearing.”
22 All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they asked.(AA)
23 Jesus said to them, “Surely you will quote this proverb to me: ‘Physician, heal yourself!’ And you will tell me, ‘Do here in your hometown(AB) what we have heard that you did in Capernaum.’”(AC)
24 “Truly I tell you,” he continued, “no prophet is accepted in his hometown.(AD) 25 I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah’s time, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and there was a severe famine throughout the land.(AE) 26 Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to a widow in Zarephath in the region of Sidon.(AF) 27 And there were many in Israel with leprosy[g] in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed—only Naaman the Syrian.”(AG)
28 All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this. 29 They got up, drove him out of the town,(AH) and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him off the cliff. 30 But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way.(AI)
Jesus Drives Out an Impure Spirit(AJ)
31 Then he went down to Capernaum,(AK) a town in Galilee, and on the Sabbath he taught the people. 32 They were amazed at his teaching,(AL) because his words had authority.(AM)
33 In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an impure spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice, 34 “Go away! What do you want with us,(AN) Jesus of Nazareth?(AO) Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are(AP)—the Holy One of God!”(AQ)
35 “Be quiet!” Jesus said sternly.(AR) “Come out of him!” Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without injuring him.
36 All the people were amazed(AS) and said to each other, “What words these are! With authority(AT) and power he gives orders to impure spirits and they come out!” 37 And the news about him spread throughout the surrounding area.(AU)
Jesus Heals Many(AV)(AW)
38 Jesus left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus to help her. 39 So he bent over her and rebuked(AX) the fever, and it left her. She got up at once and began to wait on them.
40 At sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one,(AY) he healed them.(AZ) 41 Moreover, demons came out of many people, shouting, “You are the Son of God!”(BA) But he rebuked(BB) them and would not allow them to speak,(BC) because they knew he was the Messiah.
42 At daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for him and when they came to where he was, they tried to keep him from leaving them. 43 But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God(BD) to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.” 44 And he kept on preaching in the synagogues of Judea.(BE)

31 Then (AL)He went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and was teaching them on the Sabbaths. 32 And they were (AM)astonished at His teaching, (AN)for His word was with authority. 33 (AO)Now in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon. And he cried out with a loud voice, 34 saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? (AP)I know who You are—(AQ)the Holy One of God!”
35 But Jesus rebuked him, saying, [n]“Be quiet, and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him in their midst, it came out of him and did not hurt him. 36 Then they were all amazed and spoke among themselves, saying, “What a word this is! For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.” 37 And the report about Him went out into every place in the surrounding region.

38 (AS)Now He arose from the synagogue and entered Simon’s house. But Simon’s wife’s mother was [o]sick with a high fever, and they (AT)made request of Him concerning her. 39 So He stood over her and (AU)rebuked the fever, and it left her. And immediately she arose and served them.

40 (AW)When the sun was setting, all those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them. 41 (AX)And demons also came out of many, crying out and saying, (AY)“You are [p]the Christ, the Son of God!”
And He, (AZ)rebuking them, did not allow them to [q]speak, for they knew that He was the Christ.

42 (BB)Now when it was day, He departed and went into a deserted place.
