不义管家的比喻
16 耶稣又对门徒们说：“某财主有个管家，这个管家被人控告挥霍主人的财产。 2 财主就把管家叫来，对他说：‘我听到有关你的事，到底是什么？把你所管理的做出交代，因为你不能再当管家了。’
3 “那管家心里说：‘主人要把我管家的任务拿去了，我能做什么呢？挖地没有力气，乞讨又感到羞耻。 4 我知道我该做什么了，好使我被免除管家的任务以后，人们会接我到他们家里去。’
5 “于是他把自己主人的每一个欠债人都叫了来。他问第一个：‘你欠我主人多少？’
6 “他说：‘一百桶[a]油。’
“管家就对他说：‘拿你的欠条，赶快坐下来写成五十。’
7 “他问另一个说：‘你呢，你欠多少？’
“他说：‘一百担[b]麦子。’
“管家说：‘拿你的欠条，写成八十。’
8 “于是主人因这个不义的管家做事精明，就称赞他。这样看来，今世的儿女在自己的世代里[c]，比光明的儿女还要聪明。 9 我告诉你们：要藉着那不义的财富[d]为自己结交朋友，这样当财富[e]无用的时候，你们会被接到永恒的居所[f]里。 10 在最小的事上忠心的人，在很多事上也忠心；在最小的事上不义的人，在很多事上也不义。 11 因此，你们如果在不义的财富[g]上不忠心，谁会把真正的财富[h]委托给你们呢？ 12 你们如果在别人的东西上不忠心，谁会把属于你们的交给你们呢？ 13 一个仆人不能服事两个主人。他不是厌恶这个、喜爱那个，就是忠于这个、轻视那个。你们不能既服事神，又服事财富[i]。”
神的标准
14 爱钱财的法利赛人听到这些一切话，就讥笑耶稣。 15 耶稣对他们说：“你们就是那些在人面前显示自己为义的，但是神知道你们的心。人看为高贵的，在神面前却是可憎恶的。
16 “律法和先知[j]到约翰为止，从此神国的福音被传扬，人人都在努力争取进入它。 17 天地的消逝，也比律法的一笔一画[k]落空更容易呢！
18 “凡是休妻另娶的，就是犯通奸罪；凡是娶了被丈夫休的女人的，也是犯通奸罪。
财主与拉撒路
19 “有一个财主，身穿紫色袍子和细麻衣，天天奢华宴乐。 20 又有一个穷人，名叫拉撒路，满身脓疮，被放在财主的门口， 21 渴望得到财主桌子上掉下来的碎渣[l]充饥，甚至有狗来舔他的疮。 22 后来那穷人死了，被天使们带到亚伯拉罕的怀里。接着，那财主也死了，并且被埋葬了。 23 财主在阴间的痛苦中，举目远远地望见亚伯拉罕，又望见拉撒路在他怀里， 24 就呼唤说：‘我父[m]亚伯拉罕，可怜我吧！请打发拉撒路用指头蘸点水，凉一下我的舌头吧，因为我在这火焰里，极其痛苦！’
25 “可是亚伯拉罕说：‘孩子啊，你当想起，你一生怎样享了你的福，而拉撒路怎样受了苦；但如今他在这里受到安慰，你却在痛苦中。 26 这一切之外，在我们和你们之间，隔着巨大的深渊，所以人想要从这边过到你们那边是不可能的，从那边过到我们这边也是不可能的。’
27 “财主就说：‘我父啊，那么求你打发拉撒路到我父亲家去， 28 因为我有五个兄弟，让他去郑重地劝诫他们[n]，免得他们也来到这痛苦的地方。’
29 “但是亚伯拉罕说：‘你的兄弟们有摩西和先知们，让你的兄弟们听从他们吧。’
30 “财主却说：‘不，我父[o]亚伯拉罕哪！其实如果有人从死人中复活[p]，到他们那里去，他们就会悔改。’
31 “可是亚伯拉罕对他说：‘如果他们不听从摩西和先知们，就算有人从死人中复活，他们也不会被说服的。’

16 Jesus sade också till sina lärjungar: "Det var en rik man som hade en förvaltare, och denne blev beskylld för att förskingra hans egendom. 2 Då kallade han honom till sig och sade: Vad är det jag hör om dig? Lämna redovisning för din förvaltning. Du kan inte längre få vara förvaltare. 3 Då tänkte förvaltaren: Vad skall jag göra när min herre tar ifrån mig förvaltningen? Gräva orkar jag inte och tigga skäms jag för. 4 Jo, nu vet jag vad jag skall göra så att man tar emot mig i sina hem, när jag får avsked från min tjänst. 5 Och han kallade till sig dem som stod i skuld hos hans herre, en efter en, och frågade den förste: Hur mycket är du skyldig min herre? 6 Han svarade: Hundra fat[a] olja. Förvaltaren sade till honom: Ta ditt skuldebrev och sätt dig genast ner och skriv femtio. 7 Sedan frågade han en annan: Och du, hur mycket är du skyldig? Han svarade: Hundra tunnor[b] vete. Då sade han till honom: Ta ditt skuldebrev och skriv åttio. 8 Och hans herre[c] berömde den ohederlige förvaltaren för att han hade handlat klokt. Ty den här världens barn handlar klokare mot sitt släkte[d] än ljusets barn.
9 Jag säger er: Skaffa er vänner med hjälp av den orättfärdige mammon,[e] för att de skall ta emot er i de eviga boningarna, när världslig rikedom har tagit slut. 10 Den som är trogen i smått är också trogen i stort, och den som är ohederlig i smått är också ohederlig i stort. 11 Om ni inte har varit trogna i fråga om den ohederlige mammon, vem vill då anförtro er den sanna rikedomen?[f] 12 Och om ni inte varit trogna i fråga om det som tillhör en annan, vem vill då ge er vad som tillhör er?[g] 13 Ingen kan tjäna två herrar. Antingen kommer han då att hata den ene och älska den andre, eller kommer han att hålla sig till den ene och se ner på den andre. Ni kan inte tjäna både Gud och mammon."
14 Allt detta hörde fariseerna, som älskade pengar, och de hånade honom. 15 Då sade han: "Ni hör till dem som vill framstå som rättfärdiga inför människor, men Gud känner era hjärtan. Ty det som är högt i människors ögon är avskyvärt inför Gud.
16 Lagen och profeterna hade sin tid fram till Johannes. Sedan dess predikas evangeliet om Guds rike, och var och en uppmanas enträget att komma in. 17 Men förr kommer himmel och jord att förgå än att en enda prick[h] av lagen sätts ur kraft. 18 Var och en som skiljer sig från sin hustru och gifter sig med en annan kvinna begår äktenskapsbrott, och den som gifter sig med en frånskild kvinna begår äktenskapsbrott.
Den rike mannen och Lasarus
19 Det var en rik man som klädde sig i purpur och fint linne och levde var dag i glädje och fest. 20 Men vid hans port låg en fattig man som hette Lasarus, full av sår. 21 Han längtade efter att få äta sig mätt på det som föll från den rike mannens bord. Ja, hundarna kom och slickade hans sår. 22 Så dog den fattige och fördes av änglarna till platsen vid Abrahams sida. Även den rike dog och begravdes. 23 När han plågades i helvetet,[i] lyfte han blicken och fick se Abraham långt borta och Lasarus hos honom. 24 Då ropade han: Fader Abraham, förbarma dig över mig och skicka Lasarus att doppa fingerspetsen i vatten för att svalka min tunga, ty jag plågas i denna eld. 25 Men Abraham svarade: Mitt barn, kom ihåg att du fick ut ditt goda medan du levde, under det att Lasarus fick ut det onda. Nu får han tröst och du plåga. 26 Och till allt detta kommer att det är en stor gapande klyfta mellan oss och er, för att de som vill gå över härifrån till er inte skall kunna det och för att inte heller någon därifrån skall kunna komma över till oss. 27 Den rike mannen sade: Då ber jag dig, fader, att du skickar honom till min fars hus 28 för att varna mina fem bröder, så att inte de också kommer till detta pinorum. 29 Men Abraham sade: De har Mose och profeterna. Dem skall de lyssna till. 30 Nej, fader Abraham, svarade han, men om någon kommer till dem från de döda, omvänder de sig. 31 Abraham sade till honom: Lyssnar de inte till Mose och profeterna, kommer de inte heller att bli övertygade ens om någon uppstår från de döda."

16 And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods.
2 And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward.
3 Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed.
4 I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.
5 So he called every one of his lord's debtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord?
6 And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty.
7 Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, An hundred measures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore.
8 And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.
9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.
10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.
11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?
12 And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?
13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
14 And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.
15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.
16 The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.
17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.
18 Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.
19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:
28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

The Parable of the Shrewd Manager
16 Jesus told his disciples: “There was a rich man whose manager was accused of wasting his possessions.(A) 2 So he called him in and asked him, ‘What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your management, because you cannot be manager any longer.’
3 “The manager said to himself, ‘What shall I do now? My master is taking away my job. I’m not strong enough to dig, and I’m ashamed to beg— 4 I know what I’ll do so that, when I lose my job here, people will welcome me into their houses.’
5 “So he called in each one of his master’s debtors. He asked the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’
6 “‘Nine hundred gallons[a] of olive oil,’ he replied.
“The manager told him, ‘Take your bill, sit down quickly, and make it four hundred and fifty.’
7 “Then he asked the second, ‘And how much do you owe?’
“‘A thousand bushels[b] of wheat,’ he replied.
“He told him, ‘Take your bill and make it eight hundred.’
8 “The master commended the dishonest manager because he had acted shrewdly. For the people of this world(B) are more shrewd(C) in dealing with their own kind than are the people of the light.(D) 9 I tell you, use worldly wealth(E) to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.(F)
10 “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much,(G) and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. 11 So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth,(H) who will trust you with true riches? 12 And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own?
13 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”(I)
14 The Pharisees, who loved money,(J) heard all this and were sneering at Jesus.(K) 15 He said to them, “You are the ones who justify yourselves(L) in the eyes of others, but God knows your hearts.(M) What people value highly is detestable in God’s sight.
Additional Teachings
16 “The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John.(N) Since that time, the good news of the kingdom of God is being preached,(O) and everyone is forcing their way into it. 17 It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the least stroke of a pen to drop out of the Law.(P)
18 “Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery, and the man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.(Q)
The Rich Man and Lazarus
19 “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day.(R) 20 At his gate was laid a beggar(S) named Lazarus, covered with sores 21 and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table.(T) Even the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham,(U) have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’(V)
25 “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things,(W) but now he is comforted here and you are in agony.(X) 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’
27 “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them,(Y) so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’
29 “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses(Z) and the Prophets;(AA) let them listen to them.’
30 “‘No, father Abraham,’(AB) he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’
31 “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”

14 Allt detta hörde fariseerna, som älskade pengar, och de hånade honom. 15 Då sade han: "Ni hör till dem som vill framstå som rättfärdiga inför människor, men Gud känner era hjärtan. Ty det som är högt i människors ögon är avskyvärt inför Gud.
16 Lagen och profeterna hade sin tid fram till Johannes. Sedan dess predikas evangeliet om Guds rike, och var och en uppmanas enträget att komma in. 17 Men förr kommer himmel och jord att förgå än att en enda prick[h] av lagen sätts ur kraft. 18 Var och en som skiljer sig från sin hustru och gifter sig med en annan kvinna begår äktenskapsbrott, och den som gifter sig med en frånskild kvinna begår äktenskapsbrott.
Den rike mannen och Lasarus
19 Det var en rik man som klädde sig i purpur och fint linne och levde var dag i glädje och fest. 20 Men vid hans port låg en fattig man som hette Lasarus, full av sår. 21 Han längtade efter att få äta sig mätt på det som föll från den rike mannens bord. Ja, hundarna kom och slickade hans sår. 22 Så dog den fattige och fördes av änglarna till platsen vid Abrahams sida. Även den rike dog och begravdes. 23 När han plågades i helvetet,[i] lyfte han blicken och fick se Abraham långt borta och Lasarus hos honom. 24 Då ropade han: Fader Abraham, förbarma dig över mig och skicka Lasarus att doppa fingerspetsen i vatten för att svalka min tunga, ty jag plågas i denna eld. 25 Men Abraham svarade: Mitt barn, kom ihåg att du fick ut ditt goda medan du levde, under det att Lasarus fick ut det onda. Nu får han tröst och du plåga. 26 Och till allt detta kommer att det är en stor gapande klyfta mellan oss och er, för att de som vill gå över härifrån till er inte skall kunna det och för att inte heller någon därifrån skall kunna komma över till oss. 27 Den rike mannen sade: Då ber jag dig, fader, att du skickar honom till min fars hus 28 för att varna mina fem bröder, så att inte de också kommer till detta pinorum. 29 Men Abraham sade: De har Mose och profeterna. Dem skall de lyssna till. 30 Nej, fader Abraham, svarade han, men om någon kommer till dem från de döda, omvänder de sig. 31 Abraham sade till honom: Lyssnar de inte till Mose och profeterna, kommer de inte heller att bli övertygade ens om någon uppstår från de döda."

2 And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward.
3 Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed.
4 I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.
5 So he called every one of his lord's debtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord?
6 And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty.

26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

The Parable of the Shrewd Manager
16 Jesus told his disciples: “There was a rich man whose manager was accused of wasting his possessions.(A) 2 So he called him in and asked him, ‘What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your management, because you cannot be manager any longer.’
3 “The manager said to himself, ‘What shall I do now? My master is taking away my job. I’m not strong enough to dig, and I’m ashamed to beg— 4 I know what I’ll do so that, when I lose my job here, people will welcome me into their houses.’
5 “So he called in each one of his master’s debtors. He asked the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’
6 “‘Nine hundred gallons[a] of olive oil,’ he replied.
“The manager told him, ‘Take your bill, sit down quickly, and make it four hundred and fifty.’
7 “Then he asked the second, ‘And how much do you owe?’
“‘A thousand bushels[b] of wheat,’ he replied.
“He told him, ‘Take your bill and make it eight hundred.’
8 “The master commended the dishonest manager because he had acted shrewdly. For the people of this world(B) are more shrewd(C) in dealing with their own kind than are the people of the light.(D) 9 I tell you, use worldly wealth(E) to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.(F)
10 “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much,(G) and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. 11 So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth,(H) who will trust you with true riches? 12 And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own?
13 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”(I)
14 The Pharisees, who loved money,(J) heard all this and were sneering at Jesus.(K) 15 He said to them, “You are the ones who justify yourselves(L) in the eyes of others, but God knows your hearts.(M) What people value highly is detestable in God’s sight.

16 “The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John.(N) Since that time, the good news of the kingdom of God is being preached,(O) and everyone is forcing their way into it. 17 It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the least stroke of a pen to drop out of the Law.(P)

The Rich Man and Lazarus
19 “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day.(R) 20 At his gate was laid a beggar(S) named Lazarus, covered with sores 21 and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table.(T) Even the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham,(U) have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’(V)
25 “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things,(W) but now he is comforted here and you are in agony.(X) 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’
27 “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them,(Y) so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’
29 “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses(Z) and the Prophets;(AA) let them listen to them.’
30 “‘No, father Abraham,’(AB) he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’
31 “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”
