74 Oh Dios, ¿por qué nos has rechazado para siempre(A)?
¿Por qué se enciende tu ira(B) contra las ovejas de tu prado[b](C)?
2 Acuérdate de tu congregación, la que adquiriste desde los tiempos antiguos(D),
la que redimiste(E) para que sea la tribu de tu heredad(F),
y de este monte Sión donde has habitado(G).
3 Dirige[c] tus pasos hacia las ruinas eternas(H);
todo lo que hay en el santuario lo ha dañado el enemigo(I).
4 Tus adversarios han rugido en medio de tu lugar de reunión(J);
han puesto sus estandartes[d](K) por señales(L).
5 Parece como si alguien hubiera levantado
el hacha[e](M) en espeso bosque.
6 Y ahora, toda[f] su obra de talla(N)
hacen pedazos con hachas y martillos.
7 Han quemado[g] tu santuario(O) hasta los cimientos[h];
han profanado(P) la morada de tu nombre.
8 Dijeron en su corazón: Arrasémoslos[i] por completo[j](Q).
Han quemado todos los santuarios[k] de Dios en la tierra.
9 No vemos nuestras señales(R);
ya no queda profeta(S),
ni hay entre nosotros quien sepa hasta cuándo(T).
10 ¿Hasta cuándo, oh Dios, blasfemará el adversario(U)?
¿Despreciará el enemigo tu nombre para siempre(V)?
11 ¿Por qué retiras tu mano, tu diestra(W)?
¡Sácala de dentro de tu seno, destrúyelos(X)!
12 Con todo, Dios es mi rey desde la antigüedad(Y),
el que hace obras de salvación en medio de la tierra.
13 Tú dividiste el mar(Z) con tu poder;
quebraste las cabezas(AA) de los monstruos(AB) en las aguas.
14 Tú aplastaste las cabezas de Leviatán[l](AC);
lo diste por comida a los moradores[m] del desierto(AD).
15 Tú abriste fuentes y torrentes(AE);
tú secaste ríos inagotables(AF).
16 Tuyo es el día, tuya es también la noche;
tú has preparado la lumbrera[n] y el sol(AG).
17 Tú has establecido todos los términos de la tierra(AH);
tú has hecho[o] el verano y el invierno(AI).
18 Acuérdate de esto, Señor: que el enemigo ha blasfemado[p](AJ),
y que un pueblo insensato(AK) ha despreciado tu nombre.
19 El alma de tu tórtola(AL) no entregues a la fiera;
no olvides para siempre la vida de tus afligidos(AM).
20 Mira el pacto(AN), Señor,
porque los lugares tenebrosos de la tierra(AO) están llenos de moradas de violencia.
21 No vuelva avergonzado(AP) el oprimido;
alaben tu nombre el afligido y el necesitado(AQ).
22 Levántate, oh Dios, defiende tu causa(AR);
acuérdate de cómo el necio te injuria[q](AS) todo el día.
23 No te olvides del vocerío[r] de tus adversarios(AT),
del tumulto de los que se levantan contra ti(AU), que sube continuamente.

Apelación a Dios en contra del enemigo

74 ¿Por qué, oh Dios, nos has desechado para siempre?
¿Por qué se ha encendido tu furor contra las ovejas de tu prado?
2 Acuérdate de tu congregación, la que adquiriste desde tiempos antiguos,
La que redimiste para hacerla la tribu de tu herencia;
Este monte de Sion, donde has habitado.
3 Dirige tus pasos a los asolamientos eternos,
A todo el mal que el enemigo ha hecho en el santuario.
4 Tus enemigos vociferan en medio de tus asambleas;
Han puesto sus divisas por señales.
5 Se parecen a los que levantan
El hacha en medio de tupido bosque.
6 Y ahora con hachas y martillos
Han quebrado todas sus entalladuras.
7 Han puesto a fuego tu santuario,
Han profanado el tabernáculo de tu nombre, echándolo a tierra.
8 Dijeron en su corazón: Destruyámoslos de una vez;
Han quemado todas las sinagogas de Dios en la tierra.
9 No vemos ya nuestras señales;
No hay más profeta,
Ni entre nosotros hay quien sepa hasta cuándo.
10 ¿Hasta cuándo, oh Dios, nos afrentará el angustiador?
¿Ha de blasfemar el enemigo perpetuamente tu nombre?
11 ¿Por qué retraes tu mano?
¿Por qué escondes tu diestra en tu seno?
12 Pero Dios es mi rey desde tiempo antiguo;
El que obra salvación en medio de la tierra.
13 Dividiste el mar con tu poder;(A)
Quebrantaste cabezas de monstruos en las aguas.
14 Magullaste las cabezas del leviatán,(B)
Y lo diste por comida a los moradores del desierto.
15 Abriste la fuente y el río;
Secaste ríos impetuosos.
16 Tuyo es el día, tuya también es la noche;
Tú estableciste la luna y el sol.
17 Tú fijaste todos los términos de la tierra;
El verano y el invierno tú los formaste.
18 Acuérdate de esto: que el enemigo ha afrentado a Jehová,
Y pueblo insensato ha blasfemado tu nombre.
19 No entregues a las fieras el alma de tu tórtola,
Y no olvides para siempre la congregación de tus afligidos.
20 Mira al pacto,
Porque los lugares tenebrosos de la tierra están llenos de habitaciones de violencia.
21 No vuelva avergonzado el abatido;
El afligido y el menesteroso alabarán tu nombre.
22 Levántate, oh Dios, aboga tu causa;
Acuérdate de cómo el insensato te injuria cada día.
23 No olvides las voces de tus enemigos;
El alboroto de los que se levantan contra ti sube continuamente.

1 O God, why have you rejected(A) us forever?(B)
Why does your anger smolder against the sheep of your pasture?(C)
2 Remember the nation you purchased(D) long ago,(E)
the people of your inheritance,(F) whom you redeemed(G)—
Mount Zion,(H) where you dwelt.(I)
3 Turn your steps toward these everlasting ruins,(J)
all this destruction the enemy has brought on the sanctuary.
4 Your foes roared(K) in the place where you met with us;
they set up their standards(L) as signs.
5 They behaved like men wielding axes
to cut through a thicket of trees.(M)
6 They smashed all the carved(N) paneling
with their axes and hatchets.
7 They burned your sanctuary to the ground;
they defiled(O) the dwelling place(P) of your Name.(Q)
8 They said in their hearts, “We will crush(R) them completely!”
They burned(S) every place where God was worshiped in the land.
9 We are given no signs from God;(T)
no prophets(U) are left,
and none of us knows how long this will be.
10 How long(V) will the enemy mock(W) you, God?
Will the foe revile(X) your name forever?
11 Why do you hold back your hand, your right hand?(Y)
Take it from the folds of your garment(Z) and destroy them!
13 It was you who split open the sea(AC) by your power;
you broke the heads of the monster(AD) in the waters.
14 It was you who crushed the heads of Leviathan(AE)
and gave it as food to the creatures of the desert.(AF)
15 It was you who opened up springs(AG) and streams;
you dried up(AH) the ever-flowing rivers.
16 The day is yours, and yours also the night;
you established the sun and moon.(AI)
17 It was you who set all the boundaries(AJ) of the earth;
you made both summer and winter.(AK)
18 Remember how the enemy has mocked you, Lord,
how foolish people(AL) have reviled your name.
19 Do not hand over the life of your dove(AM) to wild beasts;
do not forget the lives of your afflicted(AN) people forever.
20 Have regard for your covenant,(AO)
because haunts of violence fill the dark places(AP) of the land.
21 Do not let the oppressed(AQ) retreat in disgrace;
may the poor and needy(AR) praise your name.
22 Rise up,(AS) O God, and defend your cause;
remember how fools(AT) mock you all day long.
23 Do not ignore the clamor(AU) of your adversaries,(AV)
the uproar(AW) of your enemies,(AX) which rises continually.

74 (A Maskil of Asaph) O Elohim, why hast Thou cast us off lanetzach? Why doth Thine anger smoke against the tzon (sheep) of Thy mireh (pasture)?
2 Remember Thy Edah (congregation), which Thou hast purchased of old; the shevet (tribe) of Thine nachalah, which Thou hast redeemed: this Har Tziyon, wherein Thou hast dwelt.
3 Lift up Thy footsteps unto the mashu’ot netzach (perpetual ruins); even all that the oyev hath done wickedly in the Kodesh [the Beis HaMikdash].
4 Thine enemies roar in the midst of Thy Mo’ed (place of meeting); they set up their banners for otot (signs, i.e., their heathen insignia).
5 It had been as though one lifted up kardumim (axes) upon the thicket of etz.
6 But now they break down the carved panels [of the Beis HaMikdash] at once with hammers and chisels.
7 They have set ablaze Thy Mikdash, burning it to the ground; they have brought chillul to the Mishkan Shemecha (the dwelling place of Thy Name).
8 They said in their hearts, Let us crush them altogether; they have burned up all the Mo’adei El in HaAretz.
9 We see not our otot (signs); there is no longer any navi; neither is there among us any that knoweth ad mah (until when).
10 O Elohim ad mosai, (how long) shall the adversary revile? Shall the oyev (enemy) blaspheme Thy Shem lanetzach (forever)?
11 Why withdrawest Thou Thy Yad, even Thy Yamin (Right Hand)? Take it out of Thy Kheyk (bosom) and destroy [them].
12 For Elohim is my Melech mikedem (from of old), working Yeshuah (salvation) in the midst of Ha’Aretz.
13 Thou didst divide the yam by Thy oz (power); Thou didst break the heads of the sea serpents in the waters.
14 Thou didst break the head of Leviathan in pieces, and gavest him to be ma’akhal (food) to the people inhabiting the wilderness.
15 Thou didst break open the fountain and the flood; Thou driedst up mighty naharot (rivers).
16 The yom is Thine, the lailah also is Thine; Thou hast prepared the ma’ohr (luminary, moon) and the shemesh.
17 Thou hast set all the boundaries of Eretz; Thou hast made kayitz (summer) and choref (winter).
18 Remember this, that the oyev (enemy) hath reproached Hashem, and that the am naval (foolish people) have blasphemed Shimcha.
19 O deliver not the nefesh of Thy turtledove unto the wild beast; forget not the life of Thy aniyim (poor) lanetzach (forever).
20 Have regard unto the Brit (covenant); for the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of chamas.
21 O let not the oppressed return in shame; let the oni and evyon praise Thy Shem.
22 Arise, O Elohim, fight for Thine Own cause; remember how the naval (foolish man) revileth Thee kol hayom.
23 Forget not the kol (voice) of Thine enemies, the tumult of those against Thee that rises up tamid (continually). [T.N. Cf Lk 2:23-24 and Ps 74:19 remembering that the turtledove was the sacrifice of the poor, which Moshiach would be, not a rich man but ani, according to Zech 9:9.]
