祈求上帝眷顾祂的子民
亚萨的训诲诗。
74 上帝啊，
你为何永远丢弃了我们？
你为何对自己草场上的羊大发雷霆？
2 求你眷顾你在古时所救赎的子民，
你拣选为产业的族类，
求你眷顾你所居住的锡安山。
3 求你前去观看那久已荒凉之地，
看看敌人对圣所的破坏。
4 他们在你圣所中高声叫嚷，
竖立起自己的旗帜。
5 他们大肆毁坏，
好像人抡起斧头砍伐树林。
6 他们用斧头、锤子把雕刻的墙板都捣毁了。
7 他们纵火焚烧你的圣所，
把它夷为平地，
亵渎了你的居所。
8 他们心里说：“我们要彻底毁灭一切。”
于是他们烧毁了境内所有敬拜上帝的地方。
9 我们再也看不到你的征兆，
先知也没有了。
无人知道这一切何时才会结束。
10 上帝啊，
仇敌嘲笑你的名要到何时呢？
他们要永无休止地辱骂你吗？
11 你为何不伸出大能的右手？
求你出手给他们致命的一击。
12 上帝啊，
你自古以来就是我的王，
你给世上带来拯救。
13 你曾用大能分开海水，
打碎水中巨兽的头。
14 你曾打碎海怪的头，
把它丢给旷野的禽兽吃。
15 你曾开辟泉源和溪流，
也曾使滔滔河水枯干。
16 白昼和黑夜都属于你，
你设立了日月。
17 你划定大地的疆界，
又创造了盛夏和寒冬。
18 耶和华啊，
求你记住敌人对你的嘲笑和愚妄人对你的亵渎。
19 求你不要把你的子民交给仇敌[a]，
不要永远对你受苦的子民弃置不顾。
20 求你顾念你的应许，
因地上黑暗之处充满了暴力。
21 求你不要让受压迫的人羞愧而去。
愿贫穷困苦的人赞美你的名。
22 上帝啊，求你起来维护自己，
别忘记愚妄人怎样整天嘲笑你。
23 不要对你仇敌的喧嚷置之不理，
与你为敌的人不停地叫嚣。

74 Panginoon, bakit kami'y itinakwil habang buhay?
Bakit ka ba nagagalit sa tupa ng iyong kawan?
2 Iyo sanang gunitain ang tinipon mo no'ng una,
itong lahing tinubos mo't itinakda na magmana;
pati ang Zion na iyong dating tirahan.
3 Lapitan mo ang naiwan sa winasak ng kaaway.
Ang guho ng santuwaryo mo na sinira nang lubusan.
4 Ang loob ng iyong templo'y hindi nila iginalang,
sumisigaw na nagtayo ng kanilang diyus-diyosan.
5 Ang lahat ng nasa loob na yari sa mga kahoy,
magmula sa pintuan mo'y sinibak at pinalakol.
6 Ang lahat ng inukitang mga kahoy sa paligid,
pinalakol at dinurog ng kaaway na malupit.
7 Ang iyong banal na santuwaryo ay kanilang sinigaan,
nilapastangan nila't winasak ang templong banal.
8 Sa kanilang pag-uusap ay nagpasya ng ganito, “Hindi natin sila titigilan hanggang di pa natatalo;”
kaya sa buong lupain, ang tagpuan ng bayan mo, para ikaw ay sambahin, sinunog at naging abo.
9 Wala kaming pangitain, ni propetang naglilingkod,
ang ganitong kalagaya'y hindi namin maunawaan,
hindi namin nalalaman kung kailan matatapos.
10 Hanggang kailan, aming Diyos, magtatawa ang kaaway,
ang paghamak nila sa iyo, ito ba ay walang hanggan?
11 Huwag mo nang pipigilan, gamitin mo ang iyong bisig,
kanang kamay mo'y ikilos, kaaway mo ay iligpit.
12 Simula pa noong una ikaw na ang aming Hari, O Diyos.
Sa daigdig ay maraming iniligtas ka't tinubos.
13 Sa(A) lakas na iyong taglay hinati mo yaong dagat,
at ang mga naroroong dambuhala ay inutas;
14 ikaw(B) na rin ang dumurog sa mga ulo ng Leviatan,[b]
at ginawa mong pagkain ng mga nilikhang nasa ilang.
15 Mga batis, mga bukal, ikaw rin ang nagpadaloy,
ginawa mong tuyong lupa ang maraming ilog doon.
16 Nilikha mo yaong araw, nilikha mo pati gabi,
nilikha mo yaong araw, buwa't talang anong dami.
17 Ang hangganan ng daigdig ay ikaw rin ang naglagay,
at ikaw rin ang lumikha ng taglamig at tag-araw.
18 Ngunit iyong gunitaing nagtatawa ang kaaway,
yaong mga masasama'y dumudusta sa iyong ngalan;
19 huwag mo sanang tutulutan na ang iyong mga lingkod maiwan sa kaaway na ang kamay walang taros,
sa kanilang pagdurusa'y gunitain silang lubos.
20 Yaong tipang ginawa mo ay huwag mong lilimutin,
ang masama'y naglipana sa pook na madidilim, laganap ang karahasan kahit saan sa lupain!
21 Huwag mo sanang itutulot na ang api'y mapahiya,
bayaan mong ang ngalan mo'y purihin ng dukha't abâ.
22 Kami'y iyong ipaglaban, aming Diyos, bumangon ka!
Pagmasdan mo yaong hangal na maghapong nagtatawa.
23 Ang hangarin ng kaaway ay huwag mong lilimutin,
ang sigaw ng kaaway mo'y patuloy at walang tigil.

Easy-to-Read Version
A maskil of Asaph.
74 God, why have you turned away from us for so long?
Why are you still angry with us, your own flock?
2 Remember the people you bought so long ago.
You saved us, and we belong to you.
And remember Mount Zion, the place where you lived.
3 God, come walk through these ancient ruins.
Come back to the Holy Place that the enemy destroyed.
4 The enemy shouted their war cries in the Temple.
They put up their flags there to show they had won the war.
5 Their soldiers attacked the doors,
like workmen chopping down trees.
6 Using axes and hatchets,
they smashed the carved panels inside.
7 They burned down your Holy Place.
It was built to honor your name,
but they pulled it down to the ground.
8 The enemy decided to crush us completely.
They burned every holy place[a] in the country.
9 We do not see any of our signs.[b]
There are no more prophets.
And no one knows how long this will last.
10 God, how much longer will the enemy make fun of us?
Will you let them insult your name forever?
11 Why won’t you help us?
Use your power to defeat our enemies!
12 God, you have been our King for a long time.
You have saved us many times on this earth.
13 With your great power you split open the sea
and broke the heads of the sea monster.
14 Yes, you smashed the heads of Leviathan[c]
and left his body for animals to eat.
15 You make the springs and rivers flow,
and you make the rivers dry up.
16 You control the day and the night.
You made the sun and the moon.
17 You set the limits for everything on earth.
And you created summer and winter.
18 Lord, remember, the enemy insulted you!
Those foolish people hate your name!
19 Don’t give us like a helpless dove to those wild animals.
Never forget your poor, suffering people.
20 Remember the agreement you gave us,
because violence fills every dark place in this land.
21 Your people were treated badly.
Don’t let them be hurt anymore.
Let your poor, helpless people praise you.
22 God, get up and defend yourself!
Remember, those fools challenged you.
23 Don’t forget the shouts of your enemies.
They insulted you again and again.

- Psalm 74:8 holy place Or “El meeting place.” This means every place where people went to meet with God.
- Psalm 74:9 signs These were probably signal fires that people burned as a way of passing messages from one town to the next. In war, this was a way people showed other towns that the enemy had not yet destroyed their own town.
- Psalm 74:14 sea monster … Leviathan These were creatures from ancient stories. People believed that they kept the world from being a safe, orderly place. So this verse means that God controls every part of the world and everything in it.
