我的上帝耶和华啊,
你行了许多奇事,
为我们定了许多美好的计划,
谁能与你相比!
你奇妙的作为不可胜数。
祭物和供品非你所悦,

于是我说:

Many, Lord my God,
    are the wonders(A) you have done,
    the things you planned for us.
None can compare(B) with you;
    were I to speak and tell of your deeds,

  3. Psalm 40:7 Or come / with the scroll written for me

Blessed[a] is the man
    who places his trust in the Lord,

Burnt offerings and sin offerings
    you did not demand.

But you have made my ears receptive: a variant reading from the Greek versions has: “but a body you have prepared for me,” which was interpreted in a Messianic sense and applied to Christ (see Heb 10:5ff).

(A)Many, O Lord my God, are Your wonderful works
Which You have done;
(B)And Your thoughts toward us
Cannot be recounted to You in order;
If I would declare and speak of them,
They are more than can be numbered.

(C)Sacrifice and offering You did not desire;
My ears You have opened.
Burnt offering and sin offering You did not require.
Then I said, “Behold, I come;
In the scroll of the book it is written of me.
