你的公正如同深渊;

 神啊!你的慈爱多么宝贵;

因为生命的泉源在你那里;

12 作恶的人必跌倒;

Syndarens ondska och Guds godhet

36 För körledaren. Av Herrens tjänare David.

(A) I mitt hjärta hör jag
    vad synden viskar

    dina domar
        som det stora havsdjupet.
    Både människor och djur
        räddar du, Herre.
(F) Hur dyrbar är inte din nåd, o Gud!
    Människors barn har sin tillflykt
        i dina vingars skugga.
(G) De mättas av rika gåvor i ditt hus,
    av din ljuvlighets ström
        ger du dem att dricka.
10 (H) Hos dig är livets källa,
i ditt ljus ser vi ljus.

11 Låt din nåd bli kvar
        över dem som känner dig,
    din rättfärdighet över dem
        som har ärliga hjärtan.
12 Låt inte de stoltas fot
        trampa på mig
    eller de gudlösas hand
        driva bort mig.

13 (I) Där ligger förbrytarna fallna,

36 Sin lurks deep in the hearts of the wicked, forever urging them on to evil deeds. They have no fear of God to hold them back. Instead, in their conceit, they think they can hide their evil deeds and not get caught. Everything they say is crooked and deceitful; they are no longer wise and good. They lie awake at night to hatch their evil plots instead of planning how to keep away from wrong.

Your steadfast love, O Lord, is as great as all the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Your justice is as solid as God’s mountains. Your decisions are as full of wisdom as the oceans are with water. You are concerned[a] for men and animals alike. How precious is your constant love, O God! All humanity takes refuge in the shadow of your wings. You feed them with blessings from your own table and let them drink from your rivers of delight.

For you are the Fountain of life; our light is from your light. 10 Pour out your unfailing love on those who know you! Never stop giving your blessings[b] to those who long to do your will.

11 Don’t let these proud men trample me. Don’t let their wicked hands push me around. 12 Look! They have fallen. They are thrown down and will not rise again.

Footnotes

  1. Psalm 36:6 You are concerned, literally, “You preserve.”
  2. Psalm 36:10 your blessings, literally, “your righteousness.”

Psalm 36[a]

For the director of music. Of David the servant of the Lord.

I have a message from God in my heart
concerning the sinfulness of the wicked:[b](A)
There is no fear(B) of God
    before their eyes.(C)

In their own eyes they flatter themselves
too much to detect or hate their sin.(D)
The words of their mouths(E) are wicked and deceitful;(F)
they fail to act wisely(G) or do good.(H)
Even on their beds they plot evil;(I)
they commit themselves to a sinful course(J)
and do not reject what is wrong.(K)

Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens,
    your faithfulness(L) to the skies.(M)
Your righteousness(N) is like the highest mountains,(O)
your justice like the great deep.(P)
You, Lord, preserve both people and animals.(Q)
How priceless is your unfailing love, O God!(R)
People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.(S)
They feast on the abundance of your house;(T)
you give them drink from your river(U) of delights.(V)
For with you is the fountain of life;(W)
in your light(X) we see light.

10 Continue your love(Y) to those who know you,(Z)
your righteousness to the upright in heart.(AA)
11 May the foot of the proud not come against me,
nor the hand of the wicked(AB) drive me away.
12 See how the evildoers lie fallen—
thrown down, not able to rise!(AC)
