大卫的诗，交给乐长。
21 耶和华啊，
君王因你的能力而欢欣，
因你的拯救而雀跃。
2 你满足了他的心愿，
未曾拒绝他的请求。（细拉）
3 你赐给他丰盛的祝福，
给他戴上纯金的冠冕。
4 他向你祈求长寿，
你就赐给他永生。
5 你的救助带给他无限荣耀，
你赐给他尊荣和威严。
6 你给他的祝福永无穷尽，
你的同在使他充满喜乐。
7 君王信靠耶和华，
靠着至高者的慈爱必不动摇。
8 耶和华啊，
你的手必寻索你的敌人，
你用右手搜出所有恨你的人。
9 你一出现，
他们便像身在火炉中，
你在烈怒中吞灭他们，
你的烈火烧灭他们。
10 你必从世上铲除他们的子孙，
从人间灭绝他们的后裔。
11 他们虽然用阴谋诡计对抗你，
却不能成功。
12 你必弯弓搭箭瞄准他们，
使他们掉头逃跑。

2 Бог мой, Бог мой, почему Ты меня оставил?
Почему остаёшься вдали, когда взываю о помощи?
3 Бог мой, я взываю днём – Ты не внемлешь,
ночью – и нет мне успокоения.
4 Ты – Святой, восседающий на троне
посреди хвалений Исраила.
5 На Тебя уповали наши отцы,
уповали, и Ты избавлял их.
6 Они взывали к Тебе и обретали спасение,
на Тебя уповали и не были разочарованы.
7 Я же червь, а не человек,
в бесславии у людей,
в презрении у народа.
8 Все, кто видит меня, надо мной смеются,
оскорбляют меня, головой качают:
9 «Он полагался на Вечного,
так пусть Вечный избавит его,
пусть спасёт, раз он угоден Ему».
10 Но Ты вывел меня из утробы;
Ты вложил в меня упование
у груди материнской.
11 С рождения я на Тебя оставлен;
от чрева матери Ты – мой Бог.
12 Не будь от меня далёк,
ведь скорбь близка,
а помощника нет.
13 Мои враги обступили меня, как множество быков,
как крепкие быки Башана, они окружили меня;
14 раскрыли пасть свою на меня,
как лев, что ревёт, терзая добычу.
15 Пролился я, как вода;
все кости мои рассыпались.
Сердце моё превратилось в воск
и растопилось в груди.
16 Сила моя иссохла, как черепок,
и к нёбу прилип язык.
Ты положил меня в смертный прах.
17 Мои враги, как псы, обступили меня;
сборище злых меня окружило,
пронзили мне руки и ноги.
18 Я все свои кости могу перечесть,
а они глядят и злорадствуют надо мной.
19 Они делят между собой мои одежды,
бросают жребий о моём одеянии.
20 Но Ты, Вечный, не будь от меня далёк;
Сила моя, поспеши мне на помощь.
21 Душу мою от меча избавь,
защити мою жизнь от псов.
22 Спаси меня от львиной пасти
и от рогов диких быков.
23 Я возвещу Твоё имя братьям моим
и посреди собрания Тебя восхвалю.
24 Хвалите Вечного, боящиеся Его!
Славьте Его, все потомки Якуба!
Чтите Его, все потомки Исраила!
25 Ведь Он не презрел и не пренебрёг
скорбью страдальца,
не скрыл от него лица Своего,
но внял его крику о помощи.
26 Тебя я хвалю в большом собрании;
перед боящимися Тебя[a] я исполню свои обеты.
27 Бедняки будут есть и насытятся,
ищущие Вечного восхвалят Его.
Да живут сердца ваши вовеки!
28 Все края земли вспомнят Вечного и обратятся к Нему,
все племена склонятся пред Ним[b],
29 потому что царство принадлежит Вечному,
Он правит народами.
30 Все богачи на земле будут есть и поклоняться Ему;
склонятся перед Ним все, кто уйдёт в прах,
кто не властен удержать свою жизнь.
31 Потомки будут Ему служить,
и грядущим поколениям будет рассказано о Владыке.
32 Придут и возвестят о праведности Его
тем, кто родится позже,
расскажут о том, что Он сотворил.

Psalm 21[a]
For the director of music. A psalm of David.
2 You have granted him his heart’s desire(C)
and have not withheld the request of his lips.[b]
3 You came to greet him with rich blessings
and placed a crown of pure gold(D) on his head.(E)
4 He asked you for life, and you gave it to him—
length of days, for ever and ever.(F)
5 Through the victories(G) you gave, his glory is great;
you have bestowed on him splendor and majesty.(H)
6 Surely you have granted him unending blessings
and made him glad with the joy(I) of your presence.(J)
7 For the king trusts in the Lord;(K)
through the unfailing love(L) of the Most High(M)
he will not be shaken.(N)
8 Your hand will lay hold(O) on all your enemies;
your right hand will seize your foes.
9 When you appear for battle,
you will burn them up as in a blazing furnace.
The Lord will swallow them up in his wrath,
and his fire will consume them.(P)
10 You will destroy their descendants from the earth,
their posterity from mankind.(Q)
11 Though they plot evil(R) against you
and devise wicked schemes,(S) they cannot succeed.
12 You will make them turn their backs(T)
when you aim at them with drawn bow.

Thanksgiving for Messianic Blessings
1 For the director.[b] A psalm of David.
2 O Lord, the king rejoices in your strength;
your victories fill him with great joy.[c]
3 You have granted him the desire of his heart[d]
and not withheld from him the request of his lips. Selah
4 You welcomed him with choice blessings[e]
and placed a crown of pure gold upon his head.
5 He asked you for life, and you gave it to him,
length of days forever and ever.[f]
6 He has achieved great glory through your victory;
you have bestowed upon him splendor and majesty.[g]
7 You have conferred everlasting blessings[h] on him;
you gladdened him with the joy of your presence.
8 For the king places his trust in the Lord;
through the kindness[i] of the Most High he will not fall.
9 [j]Your hand will lay hold of all your enemies;
your right hand will overcome all your foes.
10 On the day when you appear,[k]
you will cast them into a fiery furnace.
The Lord’s anger will engulf them,
and fire will consume them.
11 You will blot out their descendants from the earth
and rid the human race of their posterity.[l]
12 They have devised wicked schemes against you,
but, plot though they may, they will not succeed.
13 For you will force them to retreat
when you aim your bows at them.
14 Be exalted, O Lord, in your strength;[m]
we will sing and praise your power.

- Psalm 21:1 One would have a poor understanding of feasts if one did not allow chants to intermingle desires and reality. On a feast, the king appears to share the privileges of God: authority, long rule, and majesty, for the Lord has blessed and established him to save his people from their foes. The history of Israel will more than once give the lie to this ideal figure of the monarch. The Church sees therein the traits of Jesus Christ, King and Savior of the People of God; in him resides the blessing for the whole world. The psalm continued to be sung in Israel even when the kingship ended after the sixth century A.D.—but this time concerning a future Messianic King.
By a very simple spiritual transposition, this psalm enables us to sing of the divine blessings granted to Christ, especially his Resurrection, and to hope for his complete and decisive triumph over his enemies (the devil, sin, and death). - Psalm 21:1 For the director: these words are thought to be a musical or liturgical notation.
- Psalm 21:2 King and people offer praise to the Lord for the victory that they have achieved over their foes through God’s strength.
- Psalm 21:3 Heart: see note on Ps 4:8.
- Psalm 21:4 You welcomed him with choice blessings: as you once welcomed Abraham (see Gen 12:2) and Joseph (see Gen 48:20). Placed a crown . . . upon his head: alludes either to his own crown reinforcing his kingship after his victory or to the crown of the king that he had defeated (see 2 Sam 12:30). This verse is eminently applied to the Messiah (see Pss 45:4; 72:17; 2 Sam 7:29; 1 Chr 17:27).
- Psalm 21:5 The king asked the Lord for life and received length of days forever and ever (see 1 Ki 1:25, 31, 34, 39; Dan 2:4; 3:9).
- Psalm 21:6 Glory . . . splendor and majesty: like those of the heavenly King (see Ps 96:3).
- Psalm 21:7 Everlasting blessings: this phrase may refer to blessings of enduring value or an unending number of blessings. Your presence: God’s favor, which is the greatest cause of joy inasmuch as it is the supreme blessing, leading to all others.
- Psalm 21:8 Kindness: see note on Ps 6:5.
- Psalm 21:9 The king’s future victories are described as certain because of the Lord’s action.
- Psalm 21:10 The expression on the day when you appear, (literally, “on the day of your face [judgment]” see Ps 34:17; Lam 4:16), and the mention of the fire are eschatological themes (see Ps 2:12; 2 Sam 23:7; Isa 30:33; Hos 7:7; Mal 3:19).
- Psalm 21:11 The foes of the king will have no descendants to make war on him.
- Psalm 21:14 The word strength in the concluding verse connects the theme with the opening verse: “O Lord, the king rejoices in your strength” (v. 2), and we will offer you our praise.
