143 Psaume de David. Éternel, écoute ma prière, prête l'oreille à mes supplications! Exauce-moi dans ta fidélité, dans ta justice!
2 N'entre pas en jugement avec ton serviteur! Car aucun vivant n'est juste devant toi.
3 L'ennemi poursuit mon âme, Il foule à terre ma vie; Il me fait habiter dans les ténèbres, Comme ceux qui sont morts depuis longtemps.
4 Mon esprit est abattu au dedans de moi, Mon coeur est troublé dans mon sein.
5 Je me souviens des jours d'autrefois, Je médite sur toutes tes oeuvres, Je réfléchis sur l'ouvrage de tes mains.
6 J'étends mes mains vers toi; Mon âme soupire après toi, comme une terre desséchée. Pause.
7 Hâte-toi de m'exaucer, ô Éternel! Mon esprit se consume. Ne me cache pas ta face! Je serais semblable à ceux qui descendent dans la fosse.
8 Fais-moi dès le matin entendre ta bonté! Car je me confie en toi. Fais-moi connaître le chemin où je dois marcher! Car j'élève à toi mon âme.
9 Délivre-moi de mes ennemis, ô Éternel! Auprès de toi je cherche un refuge.
10 Enseigne-moi à faire ta volonté! Car tu es mon Dieu. Que ton bon esprit me conduise sur la voie droite!
11 A cause de ton nom, Éternel, rends-moi la vie! Dans ta justice, retire mon âme de la détresse!
12 Dans ta bonté, anéantis mes ennemis, Et fais périr tous les oppresseurs de mon âme! Car je suis ton serviteur.

143 A Psalm of David. O Jehovah, hear my prayer, Give ear unto my supplications, In Thy faithfulness answer me -- in Thy righteousness.
2 And enter not into judgment with Thy servant, For no one living is justified before Thee.
3 For an enemy hath pursued my soul, He hath bruised to the earth my life, He hath caused me to dwell in dark places, As the dead of old.
4 And my spirit in me is become feeble, Within me is my heart become desolate.
5 I have remembered days of old, I have meditated on all Thine acts, On the work of Thy hand I muse.
6 I have spread forth my hands unto Thee, My soul [is] as a weary land for Thee. Selah.
7 Haste, answer me, O Jehovah, My spirit hath been consumed, Hide not Thou Thy face from me, Or I have been compared with those going down [to] the pit.
8 Cause me to hear in the morning Thy kindness, For in Thee I have trusted, Cause me to know the way that I go, For unto Thee I have lifted up my soul.
9 Deliver me from mine enemies, O Jehovah, Near Thee I am covered.
10 Teach me to do Thy good pleasure, For Thou [art] my God -- Thy Spirit [is] good, Lead me into a land of uprightness.
11 For Thy name's sake O Jehovah, Thou dost quicken me, In Thy righteousness, Thou bringest out from distress my soul,
12 And in Thy kindness cuttest off mine enemies, And hast destroyed all the adversaries of my soul, For I [am] Thy servant!

1 Lord, hear my prayer,(A)
listen to my cry for mercy;(B)
in your faithfulness(C) and righteousness(D)
come to my relief.
2 Do not bring your servant into judgment,
for no one living is righteous(E) before you.
3 The enemy pursues me,
he crushes me to the ground;
he makes me dwell in the darkness(F)
like those long dead.(G)
4 So my spirit grows faint within me;
my heart within me is dismayed.(H)
5 I remember(I) the days of long ago;
I meditate(J) on all your works
and consider what your hands have done.
6 I spread out my hands(K) to you;
I thirst for you like a parched land.[a]
7 Answer me quickly,(L) Lord;
my spirit fails.(M)
Do not hide your face(N) from me
or I will be like those who go down to the pit.
8 Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,(O)
for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way(P) I should go,
for to you I entrust my life.(Q)
9 Rescue me(R) from my enemies,(S) Lord,
for I hide myself in you.
10 Teach me(T) to do your will,
for you are my God;(U)
may your good Spirit
