A song of David for going up to the Temple.

122 I was happy when the people said,
“Let us go to the Lord’s Temple.”
Here we are, standing at the gates of Jerusalem.
This is New Jerusalem!
The city has been rebuilt as one united city.
This is where the tribes come, the tribes who belong to the Lord.
The people of Israel come here to praise the Lord’s name.
The kings from David’s family put their thrones here.
They set up their thrones to judge the people.

Pray for peace in Jerusalem:
“May those who love you find peace.
May there be peace within your walls.
May there be safety in your great buildings.”

For the good of my family and neighbors,
I pray that there will be peace here.
For the good of the Temple of the Lord our God,
I pray that good things will happen to this city.

122 I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.

Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem.

Jerusalem is builded as a city that is compact together:

Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the Lord.

For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.

For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.

Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek thy good.

Lovprisning af og bøn for Jerusalem

122 En valfartssang af David.

Jeg blev så glad, da jeg hørte,
at vi skulle drage til Herrens hus.
Nu står vi så endelig her,
    i porten ind til Jerusalem.
Jerusalem er en fantastisk by,
tæt pakket med huse og mennesker.[a]
Her mødes Israels stammer, Herrens eget folk,
for at takke Herren ifølge Toraens forskrifter.
Her står Davids trone,
    herfra regerer hans kongeslægt.
Bed om fred i Jerusalem.
Må det gå godt for dem, der elsker byen.
Må der være fred inden for murene
    og tryghed i tårnene.
For slægt og venners skyld
    ønsker jeg fred over Jerusalem.
For Herrens helligdoms skyld
beder jeg om tryghed for byen.
