4 我所想念親愛的弟兄們，你們就是我的喜樂、我的冠冕。所以，親愛的，你們應當靠著主站立得穩。
勸勉
2 我勸友阿嫡，也勸循都基，要在主裡有同樣的思想。 3 我真誠的同道啊，我也求你幫助她們。這兩個女人，還有革利免和其餘的同工，都跟我在福音的事工上一同勞苦，他們的名字都在生命冊上。
4 你們要靠著主常常喜樂，我再說，你們要喜樂。 5 要使大家看出你們謙和的心。主已經近了。 6 應當毫無憂慮，只要凡事藉著禱告祈求，帶著感恩的心，把你們所要的告訴 神。 7 這樣， 神所賜超過人能了解的平安，必在基督耶穌裡，保守你們的心思意念。
8 最後，弟兄們，凡是真實的、莊重的、公正的、純潔的、可愛的、聲譽好的，無論是甚麼美德，甚麼稱讚，這些事你們都應當思念。 9 你們在我身上所學習、所領受、所聽見、所看見的，這些事你們都應當實行；那麼，賜平安的 神就必與你們同在。
凡事知足的祕訣
10 我在主裡大大地喜樂，因為你們現在又再想起我來；其實你們一向都在想念我，只是沒有機會表示。 11 我並不是因為缺乏才這樣說：我已經學會了，無論在甚麼情況之下都可以知足。 12 我知道怎樣處卑賤，也知道怎樣處富裕；我已經得了祕訣，無論在任何情況之下，或是飽足，或是飢餓，或是富裕，或是缺乏，都可以知足。 13 我靠著那加給我能力的，凡事都能作。 14 然而，你們一同分擔了我的患難，實在是好的。

Regocijo y paz en el Señor
4 Así que, hermanos míos, amados y añorados(A), gozo y corona mía, estad así firmes en el Señor(B), amados.
2 Ruego a Evodia y a Síntique, que vivan en armonía[a](C) en el Señor. 3 En verdad, fiel compañero, también te ruego que ayudes a estas mujeres que han compartido mis luchas en la causa del evangelio, junto con Clemente y los demás colaboradores míos(D), cuyos nombres están en el libro de la vida(E).
4 Regocijaos en el Señor(F) siempre. Otra vez lo diré: ¡Regocijaos! 5 Vuestra bondad sea conocida de todos los hombres. El Señor está cerca(G). 6 Por nada estéis afanosos(H); antes bien, en todo, mediante oración y súplica con acción de gracias, sean dadas a conocer vuestras peticiones delante de Dios(I). 7 Y la paz de Dios(J), que sobrepasa todo entendimiento[b], guardará(K) vuestros corazones y vuestras mentes(L) en Cristo Jesús(M).
El secreto de la paz
8 Por lo demás, hermanos, todo lo que es verdadero, todo lo digno, todo lo justo, todo lo puro, todo lo amable, todo lo honorable[c], si hay alguna virtud o algo que merece elogio, en esto meditad(N). 9 Lo que también habéis aprendido y recibido y oído y visto en mí(O), esto practicad, y el Dios de paz estará con vosotros(P).

10 Me alegré grandemente en el Señor de que ya al fin habéis reavivado vuestro cuidado para conmigo; en verdad, antes os preocupabais, pero os faltaba la oportunidad(Q). 11 No que hable porque tenga escasez[d], pues he aprendido a contentarme(R) cualquiera que sea mi situación. 12 Sé vivir en pobreza[e], y sé vivir en prosperidad; en todo y por todo he aprendido el secreto tanto de estar saciado como de tener hambre(S), de tener abundancia como de sufrir necesidad(T). 13 Todo lo puedo en Cristo[f] que me fortalece(U). 14 Sin embargo, habéis hecho bien en compartir conmigo en mi aflicción(V). 15 Y vosotros mismos también sabéis, filipenses, que al comienzo de la predicación del evangelio(W), después que partí de Macedonia(X), ninguna iglesia compartió conmigo en cuestión de dar y recibir, sino vosotros solos(Y); 16 porque aun a Tesalónica(Z) enviasteis dádivas más de una vez para mis necesidades. 17 No es que busque la dádiva en sí, sino que busco fruto que aumente en vuestra cuenta(AA). 18 Pero lo he recibido todo y tengo abundancia; estoy bien abastecido[g], habiendo recibido de Epafrodito(AB) lo que habéis enviado[h]: fragante aroma[i](AC), sacrificio aceptable, agradable a Dios. 19 Y mi Dios proveerá a todas vuestras necesidades(AD), conforme a sus riquezas(AE) en gloria en Cristo Jesús. 20 A nuestro Dios y Padre(AF) sea la gloria por los siglos de los siglos(AG). Closing Appeal for Steadfastness and Unity
4 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, you whom I love and long for,(A) my joy and crown, stand firm(B) in the Lord in this way, dear friends!
2 I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to be of the same mind(C) in the Lord. 3 Yes, and I ask you, my true companion, help these women since they have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers,(D) whose names are in the book of life.(E)
Final Exhortations
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!(F) 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.(G) 6 Do not be anxious about anything,(H) but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.(I) 7 And the peace of God,(J) which transcends all understanding,(K) will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice.(L) And the God of peace(M) will be with you.
Thanks for Their Gifts
10 I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me.(N) Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. 11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content(O) whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry,(P) whether living in plenty or in want.(Q) 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.(R)
14 Yet it was good of you to share(S) in my troubles. 15 Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days(T) of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from Macedonia,(U) not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only;(V) 16 for even when I was in Thessalonica,(W) you sent me aid more than once when I was in need.(X) 17 Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account.(Y) 18 I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus(Z) the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant(AA) offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. 19 And my God will meet all your needs(AB) according to the riches of his glory(AC) in Christ Jesus.

1 Therefore, my brethren, whom I love and for whom I long, my joy and crown: stand firm in the Lord, beloved.
Counsels and Thanksgiving
Christian Concord.[a] 2 I exhort both Euodia and Syntyche to come to a mutual understanding in the Lord. 3 I also ask you, my loyal companion Syzygus, to help these women, for they have struggled alongside me in the work of the gospel, together with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.
Rejoice without Ceasing.[b] 4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say: Rejoice! 5 Let your kindness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. 6 Do not worry about anything, but present your needs to God in prayer and petition, with thanksgiving. 7 Then the peace of God, which is beyond all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
All That Is Truly Human Is Christian.[c] 8 Finally, brethren, let your minds be filled with whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, whatever is excellent, whatever is worthy of praise. 9 Do the things that you have learned, received, and heard from me and that you saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.
Acknowledgment of the Community’s Gift[d]
10 Contentment in Any Circumstances. I rejoice greatly in the Lord that now at last you have renewed your concern for me. You were, of course, concerned about me, but you had no opportunity to show it. 11 I do not say this because I have been in need, for I have learned to be content with whatever I have.
12 I know how to live with little, and I know how to live with plenty. In any and all circumstances, I have learned the secret of being well fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need. 13 I can do all things in him who strengthens me.
14 Philippian Generosity. Even so, it was kind of you to share my difficulties. 15 You Philippians are aware that in the early days of the gospel[e] when I set out from Macedonia, not a single Church other than yours shared with me in giving and receiving. 16 Even when I was in Thessalonica, you sent me something for my needs on more than one occasion.
17 Do not think that it is the gift that I value most. What I desire is for the interest to mount up in your account. 18 I have been paid in full and have more than enough. I am satisfied now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice pleasing to God.[f] 19 And my God will fully supply all your needs out of the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
20 Doxology. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.
Conclusion
21 Final Greetings.[g] Give my greetings to every one of the saints in Christ Jesus. The brethren who are with me send their greetings to you, 22 as do all the saints here, especially those in the emperor’s service.
23 Benediction.[h] The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.

- Philippians 4:2 Lines of communication are established in all the new communities, and women play an important role in their life and apostolate. Doubtless, members at times experience the difficulty of living and working together, as is the case between Euodia and Syntyche. Paul is confident that these two good women will be reconciled to one another. Clement: it is possible, but not certain, that this is Clement, the first Roman Pope. Book of life: an image current at the time to evoke the collectivity of the saved (see Ex 32:32; Ps 69:29; Isa 4:3; Dan 12:1; Rev 3:5).
- Philippians 4:4 Joy is the great secret of Christians, the sign that faith has triumphed over all fears, the normal fruit of a spiritual life that progresses. The peace of God is more profound than any kind of peace that the human spirit can attain solely by its own effort.
- Philippians 4:8 Radically detached from earthly goods, a purified heart is able to recognize the gifts of Christ through all human values. In these verses, Etienne Gilson saw “the eternal charter of Christian humanism.”
- Philippians 4:10 Even when in need, Paul did not want to depend on the communities for material help (see 1 Cor 9:14, 18; 2 Cor 11:7-10; 12:13-18; 1 Thes 2:5-9; 2 Thes 3:7-9), and he made no exception except for the Christians of Philippi with whom he had especially cordial ties. Like a true poor person, he remains free in any situation, enriched or deprived, ready to accept whatever will come—for the important thing is to serve the Gospel.
- Philippians 4:15 Early days of the gospel: during Paul’s second missionary journey, when he first preached the Gospel in Europe at Philippi (Acts 16:9ff).
- Philippians 4:18 A fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice pleasing to God: Paul sees the Philippians’ gift to him in terms of the Old Testament sacrifice of thanksgiving and praise (see Lev 7:12-15; Rom 12:1; Eph 5:2; Heb 13:15f).
- Philippians 4:21 Paul mentions especially those who in some way ensure the service of the emperor: dignitaries and soldiers, freedmen or slaves. Hence, Christians are also part of these circles.
- Philippians 4:23 Paul adds a typical closing benediction. Your spirit: i.e., the whole person viewed from his inner side (see Gal 6:18; 2 Tim 4:22; Philem 25).
