3 Аз съм човек, който е изпитал бедствие от жезъла на Божия гняв.
2 Той ме поведе надалеч в плен и ме въведе в дълбока тъмнина, а не на светло.
3 Той се обърна против мене отново и всеки ден обръща ръката Си.
4 Той смаза плътта ми и кожата ми, строши костите ми.
5 Обсади ме и ме обкръжи с горчила и теглила.
6 Постави ме на тъмно място, а не на светло, подобно на онези, които починаха отдавна.
7 (A)Той ме заобиколи със стена, тъй че да не мога да изляза. Направи веригите ми тежки
8 и когато зовях и ридаех, затвори ухо за молитвата ми.
9 С камъни прегради пътищата ми, препречи пътеките ми.
10 (B)Той стана за мене като мечка в засада, като лъв на скрито място;
11 изкриви пътищата ми и ме разкъса, и ме опустоши;
12 (C)изопна лъка Си и ме постави като прицел на стрели;
13 простреля сърцето ми със стрели от колчана Си.
14 (D)Станах за присмех на целия си народ,
всекидневна тяхна подигравателна песен.
15 (E)Той ме пресити с горчивини, напои ме с пелин;
16 разби с камъни зъбите ми, покри ме с пепел.
17 И мирът избяга от душата ми. Аз забравих благоденствието и казах:
18 (F)„Загинаха славата ми и моята надежда в Господа.“
19 Помисли за моето страдание и за моето бездомничество, за пелина и горчилката.
20 Душата ми, като мисли това постоянно, отпада у мене.
21 Ето какво отговарям в сърцето си и поради това имам надежда:
22 (G)по милост на Господа ние не изчезнахме,
защото милосърдието Му не е пресекнало –
23 то се обновява всяка сутрин. Велика е Твоята вярност!
24 (H)Господ е моят дял, казва душата ми,
и така, на Него ще се надявам.
25 Господ е добър към ония, които се надяват на Него, и към душата, която Го търси.
26 (I)Добре е на онзи, който търпеливо очаква спасение от Господа.
27 Добре е за човека, когато носи иго на младини.
28 Нека седи самотно и мълчи, защото Той го е възложил върху него.
29 Нека поставя устата си в праха, мислейки: „Може би още има надежда.“
30 (J)Нека подлага страната си на онзи, който го удря,
до пресита да приема хули,
31 понеже Господ не отхвърля за вечни времена.
32 (K)Въпреки че е пратил печал, Той и ще помилва според изобилната Си благост.
33 (L)Защото Той не оскърбява по желание на сърцето Си и не огорчава синовете човешки.
34 Но когато биват тъпкани всички затворници на страната,
35 когато неправедно съдят човека пред лицето на Всевишния,
36 когато онеправдават човека в съда, нима Господ не вижда?
37 (M)Кой би могъл да каже, че нещо става, ако не е заповядал Господ?
38 Нали от устата на Всевишния произлизат бедствие и благополучие?
39 За какво би скърбял човек, докато е жив? Нека всеки скърби, когато е наказван за греховете си.
40 (N)Нека изпитаме и изследваме своите пътища и да се обърнем към Господа.
41 Нека възвисим нашите сърца и ръце към Господа в небесата.
42 Ние се отметнахме и разбунтувахме. Ти не ни пощади.
43 Ти се облече с гняв и ни преследваше; умъртвяваше ни, не ни съжали.
44 (O)Ти закри Себе Си с облак, за да не достига молитвата ни до Тебе.
45 (P)Направил си ни като смет и отвращение сред народите.
46 Разтворили са против нас широки уста всички наши врагове.
47 Паника и яма, опустошение и разорение налетяха върху нас.
48 Потоци вода лее окото ми за гибелта на дъщерята на моя народ.
49 Окото ми пролива сълзи и не престава, понеже няма преставане,
50 докато не погледне Господ милостиво и не види от небесата.
51 Окото ми прави да страда моята душа заради всички дъщери на моя град.
52 (Q)Защото без причина моите врагове дебнеха да ме хванат като птичка.
53 Захвърлиха живота ми в яма и ме затрупаха с камъни.
54 Водите се издигнаха до главата ми. Аз си казах: „Загинах.“
55 (R)От дълбоката яма призовах името Ти, Господи.
56 Ти чу гласа ми; не закривай ухото Си за моята въздишка и за моя плач!
57 Ти се приближаваше, когато Те призовавах, и казваше: „Не бой се!“
58 Ти защитаваше, Господи, делото на моята душа, изкупваше моя живот.
59 Ти виждаш, Господи, онеправданието ми: „Отсъди делото ми!
60 Ти виждаш всичката им отмъстителност, всичките им кроежи срещу мене;
61 Ти чуваш, Господи, ругатните им, всичките им кроежи срещу мене,
62 думите на ония, които се надигат срещу мене, и всеки ден заговорничат против мене.
63 (S)Погледни: седнат ли, станат ли, аз съм присмехулна песен за тях.
64 (T)Въздай им, Господи, според делата на ръцете им.
65 Прати им помрачение на сърцето и Твоето проклятие върху тях.

3 Yo he sufrido la aflicción
en la vara de su cólera.
2 Me ha guiado y hecho andar
por tinieblas y sin luz.
3 Vuelve sin cesar su mano
todo el día contra mí.
4 Me ha comido carne y piel
y me ha quebrado los huesos.
5 Me ha levantado un asedio
de veneno y sufrimiento.
6 Me ha hecho vivir en tinieblas
como a los muertos antiguos.
7 Me ha tapiado sin salida,
cargándome de cadenas.
8 Aunque grité y pedí auxilio,
no hizo caso de mi súplica.
9 Me ha amurallado el camino
y me ha cambiado las sendas.
10 Me ha acechado como un oso,
como un león escondido.
11 Me ha extraviado y hecho trizas,
me ha dejado destrozado.
12 Me ha apuntado con su arco,
me ha hecho blanco de sus flechas.
13 Me ha clavado en las entrañas
las flechas de su aljaba.
14 Soy la burla de mi pueblo
y su copla todo el día.
15 Me ha saciado de amargura,
me ha dado a beber ajenjo.
16 Me ha machacado los dientes,
me ha revolcado en el polvo.
17 Me han secuestrado la paz
y hasta he olvidado la dicha.
18 Pienso que estoy sin fuerza,
que se ha agotado del todo
mi esperanza en el Señor.
19 Recuerda mi pena amarga
que es ajenjo envenenado.
20 Me acuerdo constantemente
y se me derrumba el ánimo.
21 Pero algo viene a mi mente
que me llena de esperanza:
22 que tu amor, Señor, no cesa,
ni tu compasión se agota;
23 ¡se renuevan cada día
por tu gran fidelidad!
24 Tú eres mi herencia, Señor,
por eso confío en ti.
25 Es bueno el Señor con quien
confía en él y lo busca.
26 Es bueno esperar callado
la salvación del Señor.
27 Es bueno que el ser humano
cargue el yugo desde niño,
28 que aguante solo y callado
pues el Señor se lo ha impuesto;
29 que su boca bese el polvo
por si aún queda esperanza;
30 y que ofrezca su mejilla
al que lo hiere y lo afrenta.
31 Porque no ha de rechazarnos
eternamente mi Dios:
32 pues, aunque aflige, se apiada
porque es inmenso su amor;
33 que no disfruta afligiendo
o humillando al ser humano.
34 Si alguien pisotea a todos
los cautivos de un país,
35 si se agravia a un ser humano
en presencia del Altísimo,
36 o si se altera un proceso,
¿es que mi Dios no lo ve?
37 ¿Quién dice algo y sucede
si mi Dios no lo ha ordenado?
38 ¿No salen males y bienes
de la boca del Altísimo?
39 ¿Por qué alguno se lamenta,
si vive aunque haya pecado?
40 Revisemos nuestras sendas
y volvamos al Señor.
41 Alcemos al Dios del cielo
nuestras plegarias sinceras.
42 Fuimos rebeldes e infieles,
¡por eso no perdonaste!
43 Airado nos perseguiste,
nos mataste sin piedad.
44 Te ocultaste en una nube
para no escuchar las súplicas.
45 Nos convertiste en basura
y desecho entre los pueblos.
46 Nos provocan con insultos
todos nuestros enemigos.
47 Miedo y pánico es lo nuestro,
desolación y fracaso.
48 Mis ojos son ríos de lágrimas
por la capital en ruinas.
49 Mis ojos lloran sin tregua
y no sentirán alivio
50 hasta que el Señor se asome
y mire desde los cielos.
51 Siento dolor en mis ojos
por mi ciudad y sus hijas.
52 Los que me odian sin motivo
me cazaron como a un pájaro.
53 Me arrojaron vivo a un pozo,
echándome encima piedras.
54 Me sumergieron las aguas
y me dije: “¡Estoy perdido!”.
55 Invoqué, Señor, tu nombre
desde lo hondo del pozo.
56 ¡Escucha mi voz, no cierres
tu oído al grito de auxilio!
57 Cuando llamé te acercaste
y me dijiste: “¡No temas!”.
58 Me has defendido, Dios mío,
y me has salvado la vida.
59 Ya ves que sufro injusticia:
¡hazme justicia, Señor!
60 Ya ves todas sus intrigas
de venganza contra mí.
61 Tú oyes, Señor, sus insultos
y sus planes contra mí;
62 mi adversario cuchichea
todo el día contra mí.
63 Míralos: de pie o sentados,
me hacen tema de sus coplas.
64 Págales, Señor, a todos
como merecen sus obras.
65 Enduréceles la mente,
échales tu maldición.
66 Persíguelos con tu cólera
y bórralos bajo el cielo.

3 I Am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.
2 He hath led me, and brought me into darkness, but not into light.
3 Surely against me is he turned; he turneth his hand against me all the day.
4 My flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones.
5 He hath builded against me, and compassed me with gall and travail.
6 He hath set me in dark places, as they that be dead of old.
7 He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.
8 Also when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.
9 He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.
10 He was unto me as a bear lying in wait, and as a lion in secret places.
11 He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces: he hath made me desolate.
12 He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
13 He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.
14 I was a derision to all my people; and their song all the day.
15 He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath made me drunken with wormwood.
16 He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath covered me with ashes.
17 And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I forgat prosperity.
18 And I said, My strength and my hope is perished from the Lord:
19 Remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.
20 My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.
21 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
22 It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
24 The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
25 The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.
27 It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.
28 He sitteth alone and keepeth silence, because he hath borne it upon him.
29 He putteth his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope.
30 He giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.
31 For the Lord will not cast off for ever:
32 But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.
33 For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.
34 To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth.
35 To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High,
36 To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not.
37 Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?
38 Out of the mouth of the most High proceedeth not evil and good?
39 Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?
40 Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord.
41 Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.
42 We have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned.
43 Thou hast covered with anger, and persecuted us: thou hast slain, thou hast not pitied.
44 Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that our prayer should not pass through.
45 Thou hast made us as the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people.
46 All our enemies have opened their mouths against us.
47 Fear and a snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction.
48 Mine eye runneth down with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
49 Mine eye trickleth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission.
50 Till the Lord look down, and behold from heaven.
51 Mine eye affecteth mine heart because of all the daughters of my city.
52 Mine enemies chased me sore, like a bird, without cause.
53 They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone upon me.
54 Waters flowed over mine head; then I said, I am cut off.
55 I called upon thy name, O Lord, out of the low dungeon.
56 Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my breathing, at my cry.
57 Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee: thou saidst, Fear not.
58 O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.
59 O Lord, thou hast seen my wrong: judge thou my cause.
60 Thou hast seen all their vengeance and all their imaginations against me.
61 Thou hast heard their reproach, O Lord, and all their imaginations against me;
62 The lips of those that rose up against me, and their device against me all the day.
63 Behold their sitting down, and their rising up; I am their musick.
64 Render unto them a recompence, O Lord, according to the work of their hands.
65 Give them sorrow of heart, thy curse unto them.

2 He has driven me away and made me walk
in darkness(C) rather than light;
3 indeed, he has turned his hand against me(D)
again and again, all day long.
4 He has made my skin and my flesh grow old(E)
and has broken my bones.(F)
5 He has besieged me and surrounded me
with bitterness(G) and hardship.(H)
6 He has made me dwell in darkness
like those long dead.(I)
7 He has walled me in so I cannot escape;(J)
he has weighed me down with chains.(K)
8 Even when I call out or cry for help,(L)
he shuts out my prayer.(M)
9 He has barred(N) my way with blocks of stone;
he has made my paths crooked.(O)
10 Like a bear lying in wait,

and left me without help.

therefore I will wait for him.”
25 The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him,

while he is young.

43 “You have covered yourself with anger and pursued(BI) us;
you have slain without pity.(BJ)
44 You have covered yourself with a cloud(BK)
so that no prayer(BL) can get through.(BM)
45 You have made us scum(BN) and refuse
among the nations.
46 “All our enemies have opened their mouths
wide(BO) against us.(BP)
47 We have suffered terror and pitfalls,(BQ)
ruin and destruction.(BR)”
48 Streams of tears(BS) flow from my eyes(BT)
because my people are destroyed.(BU)
49 My eyes will flow unceasingly,
without relief,(BV)
50 until the Lord looks down
from heaven and sees.(BW)
51 What I see brings grief to my soul
because of all the women of my city.
52 Those who were my enemies without cause
hunted me like a bird.(BX)
53 They tried to end my life in a pit(BY)
and threw stones at me;
54 the waters closed over my head,(BZ)
and I thought I was about to perish.(CA)
55 I called on your name, Lord,
from the depths(CB) of the pit.(CC)
56 You heard my plea:(CD) “Do not close your ears
to my cry for relief.”
57 You came near(CE) when I called you,
and you said, “Do not fear.”(CF)
58 You, Lord, took up my case;(CG)
you redeemed my life.(CH)
59 Lord, you have seen the wrong done to me.(CI)
Uphold my cause!(CJ)
60 You have seen the depth of their vengeance,
all their plots against me.(CK)
