5 这些事以后，到了犹太人的一个节期，耶稣就上耶路撒冷去。 2 在耶路撒冷靠近羊门有一个水池，希伯来话叫作毕士大，池边有五条走廊。 3 在那里躺着许多病人，有瞎眼的、瘸腿的和瘫痪的。（有些抄本有以下一段：“他们等候水动，4因为有主的使者按时下去搅动池水，水动之后，谁先下去，无论甚么病，必得痊愈。”） 5 那里有一个人，病了三十八年。 6 耶稣看见他躺着，知道他病了很久，就问他：“你要痊愈吗？” 7 病人回答：“先生，水动的时候，没有人把我放在池里；自己想去的时候，总是给别人抢先。” 8 耶稣对他说：“起来，拿着你的褥子走吧。” 9 那人立刻痊愈，就拿起褥子走了。
那天正是安息日。 10 因此犹太人对那医好了的人说：“今天是安息日，你拿着褥子是不可以的。” 11 他却回答：“那使我痊愈的对我说：‘拿起你的褥子走吧’。” 12 他们就问：“那对你说‘拿起来走吧’的是谁？” 13 那医好了的人不知道他是谁，因为那里人很多，耶稣已经避开了。 14 后来，耶稣在殿里遇见那人，对他说：“你已经痊愈了，不可再犯罪，免得招来更大的祸患。” 15 那人就去告诉犹太人，使他痊愈的就是耶稣。 16 从此犹太人就迫害耶稣，因为他常常在安息日作这些事。 17 耶稣却对他们说：“我父作工直到现在，我也作工。” 18 因此犹太人就更想杀耶稣，因为他不但破坏安息日，而且称 神为自己的父，把自己与 神当作平等。
人子的权柄
19 耶稣又对他们说：“我实实在在告诉你们，子靠着自己不能作甚么，只能作他看见父所作的；因为父所作的事，子也照样作。 20 父爱子，把自己所作的一切指示给他看，还要把比这些更大的事指示给他看，使你们惊奇。 21 父怎样叫死人复活，使他们得生命，子也照样随自己的意思使人得生命。 22 父不审判人，却已经把审判的权柄完全交给子， 23 使所有的人尊敬子好象尊敬父一样。不尊敬子的，就是不尊敬那差他来的父。 24 我实实在在告诉你们，那听见我的话又信那差我来的，就有永生，不被定罪，而是已经出死入生了。 25 我实实在在告诉你们，时候将到，现在就是了，死人要听见 神儿子的声音，听见的人就要活了。 26 就如父是生命的源头，照样他也使子成为生命的源头， 27 并且把执行审判的权柄赐给他，因为他是人子。 28 你们不要把这事看作希奇，因为时候将到，那时所有在坟墓里的都要听见他的声音， 29 并且都要出来；行善的复活得生命，作恶的复活被定罪。
给耶稣作见证的
30 “我靠着自己不能作甚么，我怎样听见，就怎样审判。我的审判是公义的，因为我不寻求自己的意思，只求那差我来者的旨意。 31 我若为自己作证，我的见证就不真。 32 然而另有一位为我作证的，我知道他为我作的见证是真的。 33 你们曾经派人到约翰那里，他为真理作过见证。 34 我不接受从人而来的见证，但我说这些事，是要你们得救。 35 约翰是一盏点亮的灯，你们情愿暂时在他的光中欢乐。 36 但我有比约翰更大的见证，因为父赐给我要我完成的工作，就是我所要作的，证明我是父所差来的。 37 差我来的父亲自为我作了见证。他的声音，你们从没有听过；他的容貌，你们从没有见过； 38 他的道，你们也不放在心里，因为你们不信他所差来的那一位。 39 你们研究圣经，因为你们认为圣经中有永生，其实为我作证的就是这圣经， 40 然而你们却不肯到我这里来得生命。
41 “我不接受从人而来的称赞； 42 我知道你们心里没有 神的爱。 43 我奉我父的名而来，你们不接待我；如果有别人以自己的名义而来，你们倒接待他。 44 你们彼此接受称赞，却不寻求从独一的 神而来的称赞，怎么能信呢？ 45 不要以为我要向父控告你们，有一位控告你们的，就是你们所仰赖的摩西。 46 你们若信摩西，也必信我，因为他所写的书曾论及我。 47 你们若不信他所写的，怎能信我的话呢？”

5 इसके बाद यीशु यहूदियों के एक उत्सव में यरूशलेम गया। 2 यरूशलेम में भेड़-द्वार के पास एक तालाब है, इब्रानी भाषा में इसे “बेतहसदा” कहा जाता है। इसके किनारे पाँच बरामदे बने हैं 3 जिनमें नेत्रहीन, अपंग और लकवे के बीमारों की भीड़ पड़ी रहती है।[a] 4 [b] 5 इन रोगियों में एक ऐसा मरीज़ भी था जो अड़तीस वर्ष से बीमार था। 6 जब यीशु ने उसे वहाँ लेटे देखा और यह जाना कि वह इतने लम्बे समय से बीमार है तो यीशु ने उससे कहा, “क्या तुम नीरोग होना चाहते हो?”
7 रोगी ने जवाब दिया, “हे प्रभु, मेरे पास कोई नहीं है जो जल के हिलने पर मुझे तालाब में उतार दे। जब मैं तालाब में जाने को होता हूँ, सदा कोई दूसरा आदमी मुझसे पहले उसमें उतर जाता है।”
8 यीशु ने उससे कहा, “खड़ा हो, अपना बिस्तर उठा और चल पड़।” 9 वह आदमी तत्काल अच्छा हो गया। उसने अपना बिस्तर उठाया और चल दिया।
उस दिन सब्त का दिन था। 10 इस पर यहूदियों ने उससे, जो नीरोग हुआ था, कहना शुरू किया, “आज सब्त का दिन है और हमारे नियमों के यह विरुद्ध है कि तू अपना बिस्तर उठाए।”
11 इस पर उसने जवाब दिया, “जिसने मुझे अच्छा किया है उसने कहा है कि अपना बिस्तर उठा और चल।”
12 उन लोगों ने उससे पूछा, “वह कौन व्यक्ति है जिसने तुझसे कहा था, अपना बिस्तर उठा और चल?”

16 क्योंकि यीशु ने ऐसे काम सब्त के दिन किये थे इसलिए यहूदियों ने उसे सताना शुरू कर दिया। 17 यीशु ने उन्हें उत्तर देते हुए कहा, “मेरा पिता कभी काम बंद नहीं करता, इसीलिए मैं भी निरन्तर काम करता हूँ।” इसलिये यहूदी उसे मार डालने का और अधिक प्रयत्न करने लगे।
18 न केवल इसलिये कि वह सब्त को तोड़ रहा था बल्कि वह परमेश्वर को अपना पिता भी कहता था। और इस तरह अपने आपको परमेश्वर के समान ठहराता था।
यीशु की साक्षी

22 “पिता किसी का भी न्याय नहीं करता किन्तु उसने न्याय करने का अधिकार बेटे को दे दिया है। 23 जिससे सभी लोग पुत्र का आदर वैसे ही करें जैसे वे पिता का करते हैं। जो व्यक्ति पुत्र का आदर नहीं करता वह उस पिता का भी आदर नहीं करता जिसने उसे भेजा है।
24 “मैं तुम्हें सत्य बताता हूँ जो मेरे वचन को सुनता है और उस पर विश्वास करता है जिसने मुझे भेजा है, वह अनन्त जीवन पाता है। न्याय का दण्ड उस पर नहीं पड़ेगा। इसके विपरीत वह मृत्यु से जीवन में प्रवेश पा जाता है। 25 मैं तुम्हें सत्य बताता हूँ कि वह समय आने वाला है बल्कि आ ही चुका है-जब वे, जो मर चुके हैं, परमेश्वर के पुत्र का वचन सुनेंगे और जो उसे सुनेंगे वे जीवित हो जायेंगे क्योंकि जैसे पिता जीवन का स्रोत है। 26 वैसे ही उसने अपने पुत्र को भी जीवन का स्रोत बनाया है। 27 और उसने उसे न्याय करने का अधिकार दिया है। क्योंकि वह मनुष्य का पुत्र है।

30 “मैं स्वयं अपने आपसे कुछ नहीं कर सकता। मैं परमेश्वर से जो सुनता हूँ उसी के आधार पर न्याय करता हूँ और मेरा न्याय उचित है क्योंकि मैं अपनी इच्छा से कुछ नहीं करता बल्कि उसकी इच्छा से करता हूँ जिसने मुझे भेजा है।
यीशु का यहूदियों से कथन
31 “यदि मैं अपनी तरफ से साक्षी दूँ तो मेरी साक्षी सत्य नहीं है। 32 मेरी ओर से साक्षी देने वाला एक और है। और मैं जानता हूँ कि मेरी ओर से जो साक्षी वह देता है, सत्य है।
33 “तुमने लोगों को यूहन्ना के पास भेजा और उसने सत्य की साक्षी दी। 34 मैं मनुष्य की साक्षी पर निर्भर नहीं करता बल्कि यह मैं इसलिए कहता हूँ जिससे तुम्हारा उद्धार हो सके। 35 यूहन्ना उस दीपक की तरह था जो जलता है और प्रकाश देता है। और तुम कुछ समय के लिए उसके प्रकाश का आनन्द लेना चाहते थे।
36 “पर मेरी साक्षी यूहन्ना की साक्षी से बड़ी है क्योंकि परम पिता ने जो काम पूरे करने के लिए मुझे सौंपे हैं, मैं उन्हीं कामों को कर रहा हूँ और वे काम ही मेरे साक्षी हैं कि परम पिता ने मुझे भेजा है। 37 परम पिता ने जिसने मुझे भेजा है, मेरी साक्षी दी है। तुम लोगों ने उसका वचन कभी नहीं सुना और न तुमने उसका रूप देखा है। 38 और न ही तुम अपने भीतर उसका संदेश धारण करते हो। क्योंकि तुम उसमें विश्वास नहीं रखते हो जिसे परम पिता ने भेजा है। 39 तुम शास्त्रों का अध्ययन करते हो क्योंकि तुम्हारा विचार है कि तुम्हें उनके द्वारा अनन्त जीवन प्राप्त होगा। किन्तु ये सभी शास्त्र मेरी ही साक्षी देते हैं। 40 फिर भी तुम जीवन प्राप्त करने के लिये मेरे पास नहीं आना चाहते।
41 “मैं मनुष्य द्वारा की गयी प्रशंसा पर निर्भर नहीं करता। 42 किन्तु मैं जानता हूँ कि तुम्हारे भीतर परमेश्वर का प्रेम नहीं है। 43 मैं अपने पिता के नाम से आया हूँ फिर भी तुम मुझे स्वीकार नहीं करते किन्तु यदि कोई और अपने ही नाम से आए तो तुम उसे स्वीकार कर लोगे। 44 तुम मुझमें विश्वास कैसे कर सकते हो, क्योंकि तुम तो आपस में एक दूसरे से प्रशंसा स्वीकार करते हो। उस प्रशंसा की तरफ देखते तक नहीं जो एकमात्र परमेश्वर से आती है। 45 ऐसा मत सोचो कि मैं परम पिता के आगे तुम्हें दोषी ठहराऊँगा। जो तुम्हें दोषी सिद्ध करेगा वह तो मूसा होगा जिस पर तुमने अपनी आशाएँ टिकाई हुई हैं। यदि तुम वास्तव में मूसा में विश्वास करते 46 तो तुम मुझमें भी विश्वास करते क्योंकि उसने मेरे बारे में लिखा है। 47 जब तुम, जो उसने लिखा है उसी में विश्वास नहीं करते, तो मेरे वचन में विश्वास कैसे करोगे?”

5 After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.
10 The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.
11 He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.
12 Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?
13 And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place.
14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.
15 The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole.
16 And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.
17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.
18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.
22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;
27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
32 There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.
33 Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth.
34 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved.
35 He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.
36 But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.
37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.
38 And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.
39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
41 I receive not honour from men.
42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.
43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?
45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.
46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me.
47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

Jesus Heals a Man at a Pool
5 Later, Jesus went to Jerusalem for a special Jewish festival. 2 In Jerusalem there is a pool with five covered porches. In Aramaic it is called Bethzatha.[a] This pool is near the Sheep Gate. 3 Many sick people were lying on the porches beside the pool. Some of them were blind, some were crippled, and some were paralyzed.[b] 4 [c] 5 One of the men lying there had been sick for 38 years. 6 Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had been sick for a very long time. So he asked him, “Do you want to be well?”
7 The sick man answered, “Sir, there is no one to help me get into the water when it starts moving. I try to be the first one into the water. But when I try, someone else always goes in before I can.”
8 Then Jesus said, “Stand up! Pick up your mat and walk.” 9 Immediately the man was well. He picked up his mat and started walking.
The day all this happened was a Sabbath day. 10 So some Jews said to the man who had been healed, “Today is the Sabbath. It is against our law for you to carry your mat on the Sabbath day.”
11 But he answered, “The man who made me well told me, ‘Pick up your mat and walk.’”
12 They asked him, “Who is the man who told you to pick up your mat and walk?”
13 But the man who had been healed did not know who it was. There were many people there, and Jesus had left.
14 Later, Jesus found the man at the Temple and said to him, “See, you are well now. But stop sinning or something worse may happen to you!”
15 Then the man left and went back to the Jews who questioned him. He told them that Jesus was the one who made him well.
16 Jesus was doing all this on the Sabbath day. So these Jews began trying to make him stop. 17 But he said to them, “My Father never stops working, and so I work too.”
18 This made them even more determined to kill him. They thought it was bad enough that he was breaking the law about the Sabbath day. And now he was saying that God is his Father, making himself equal with God!
Jesus Has God’s Authority
19 But Jesus answered, “I assure you that the Son can do nothing alone. He does only what he sees his Father doing. The Son does the same things that the Father does. 20 The Father loves the Son and shows him everything he does. This man was healed. But the Father will show the Son greater things than this to do. Then you will all be amazed. 21 The Father raises the dead and gives them life. In the same way, the Son gives life to those he wants to.
22 “Also, the Father judges no one. He has given the Son power to do all the judging. 23 God did this so that all people will respect the Son the same as they respect the Father. Anyone who does not respect the Son does not respect the Father. He is the one who sent the Son.
24 “I assure you, anyone who hears what I say and believes in the one who sent me has eternal life. They will not be judged guilty. They have already left death and have entered into life. 25 Believe me, an important time is coming. That time is already here. People who are dead will hear the voice of the Son of God. And those who listen will live. 26 Life comes from the Father himself. So the Father has also allowed the Son to give life. 27 And the Father has given him the power to judge all people because he is the Son of Man.
28 “Don’t be surprised at this. A time is coming when all people who are dead and in their graves will hear his voice. 29 Then they will come out of their graves. Those who did good in this life will rise and have eternal life. But those who did evil will rise to be judged guilty.
30 “I can do nothing alone. I judge only the way I am told. And my judgment is right, because I am not trying to please myself. I want only to please the one who sent me.
Jesus Says More to the Jewish Leaders
31 “If I tell people about myself, they cannot be sure that what I say is true. 32 But there is someone else who tells people about me, and I know that what he says about me is true.
33 “You sent men to John, and he told you what is true. 34 I don’t need anyone to tell people about me, but I remind you of what John said so that you can be saved. 35 John was like a lamp that burned and gave light, and you were happy to enjoy his light for a while.
36 “But I have a proof about myself that is greater than anything John said. The things I do are my proof. These are what my Father gave me to do. They show that the Father sent me. 37 And the Father who sent me has given proof about me himself. But you have never heard his voice. You have never seen what he looks like. 38 The Father’s teaching does not live in you, because you don’t believe in the one the Father sent. 39 You carefully study the Scriptures. You think that they give you eternal life. These same Scriptures tell about me! 40 But you refuse to come to me to have that life.
41 “I don’t want praise from you or any other human. 42 But I know you—I know that you have no love for God. 43 I have come from my Father and speak for him, but you don’t accept me. But when other people come speaking only for themselves, you accept them. 44 You like to have praise from each other. But you never try to get the praise that comes from the only God. So how can you believe? 45 Don’t think that I will be the one to stand before the Father and accuse you. Moses is the one to accuse you. And he is the one you hoped would save you. 46 If you really believed Moses, you would believe me, because he wrote about me. 47 But you don’t believe what he wrote, so you can’t believe what I say.”
