耶穌為門徒洗腳
13 逾越節之前，耶穌知道自己快要離開世界回到父那裡了。祂一直愛世上屬自己的人，並且愛他們到底。 2 吃晚飯的時候，魔鬼已經把出賣耶穌的念頭放在加略人西門的兒子猶大的心裡。 3 耶穌知道父將一切交給了祂，也知道自己從上帝那裡來、要回到上帝那裡， 4 就離席站起來，脫了外衣，把毛巾束在腰間， 5 然後倒了一盆水為門徒洗腳，用束在腰間的毛巾擦乾。 6 輪到西門·彼得的時候，他說：「主啊！你要洗我的腳嗎？」
7 耶穌回答說：「我這樣做，你現在雖然不明白，將來一定會明白。」
8 彼得說：「你絕對不可以洗我的腳。」
耶穌說：「如果我不洗你的腳，你就和我沒有關係了。」
9 西門·彼得說：「主啊，不只我的腳，連我的手和頭也幫我洗吧。」
10 耶穌說：「洗過澡的人全身是乾淨的，只要洗洗腳就好了。你們是乾淨的，但不是每一個都乾淨。」
11 因為耶穌知道誰要出賣祂，所以說：「你們不是每一個都乾淨。」
12 耶穌給門徒洗完了腳，便穿上外衣再次坐下來，然後問道：「我為你們做的，你們明白嗎？ 13 你們稱呼我『老師』，也稱呼我『主』，你們稱呼得對，因為我是。 14 我是你們的老師又是你們的主，尚且給你們洗腳，你們更應當彼此洗腳。 15 我給你們立了一個榜樣，好讓你們效法我。
16 「我實實在在地告訴你們，奴僕不能大過主人，受差遣的也不能大過差遣他的人。 17 既然你們明白這個道理，如果去實踐，就有福了。 18 我這話不是對你們每一個人說的，我知道我揀選了誰，但這是為了要應驗聖經上的話，『吃我飯的人用腳踢我』[a]。 19 我在事情還沒有發生之前，預先告訴你們，等事情發生以後，你們就會相信我是基督。 20 我實實在在地告訴你們，人若接待我所差遣的，就是接待我；接待我，就是接待差我來的那位。」
預言猶大賣主
21 說完這番話，耶穌心裡憂傷，便宣佈說：「我實實在在地告訴你們，你們中間有一個人要出賣我。」 22 門徒面面相覷，不知道耶穌指的是誰。 23-24 西門·彼得向耶穌所愛的那個門徒點頭示意，讓他問耶穌到底是誰要出賣祂。那門徒坐在耶穌旁邊， 25 便順勢靠過去問耶穌：「主啊，是誰呢？」
26 耶穌回答說：「我蘸一點餅給誰，就是誰。」耶穌就蘸了一點餅，遞給加略人西門的兒子猶大。 27 猶大吃了以後，撒旦就進了他的心。耶穌對他說：「你要做的事，趕快去做吧！」 28 同桌吃飯的人沒有人明白耶穌這話的意思。 29 因為猶大是管錢的，有人以為耶穌是叫他去買過節的用品，或者去賙濟窮人。 30 猶大吃過那塊餅後，立刻出去了。那時候是晚上。
新命令
31 猶大出去以後，耶穌就說：「現在人子得到榮耀了，上帝在人子身上也得了榮耀。 32 上帝既然在人子身上得了榮耀，也要讓人子在祂身上得榮耀，並且馬上要使人子得榮耀。 33 孩子們，我與你們同在的時間不多了，以後你們要找我，但我去的地方，你們不能去。這句話我以前對猶太人說過，現在也照樣告訴你們。 34 我賜給你們一條新命令——你們要彼此相愛。我怎樣愛你們，你們也要怎樣彼此相愛。 35 你們如果彼此相愛，世人就會認出你們是我的門徒。」
預言彼得不認主
36 西門·彼得問耶穌：「主啊，你要到哪裡去？」
耶穌回答說：「我要去的地方，你現在不能跟我去，但將來必定跟我去。」
37 彼得說：「主啊！為什麼我現在不能跟你去呢？就是為你死，我也願意！」
38 耶穌說：「你真的願意為我死嗎？我實實在在地告訴你，雞叫以前，你會三次不認我。」
耶穌是道路、真理、生命
14 耶穌繼續說：「你們心裡不要憂愁，你們要信上帝，也要信我。 2 我父的家裡有許多住處，不然我就不會說去為你們安排地方了。 3 我安排好了以後，必定回來接你們到我那裡。我在哪裡，讓你們也在哪裡。 4 你們知道通往我要去的地方的路。」
5 多馬說：「主啊，你要去哪裡，我們還不知道，又怎麼會知道路呢？」
6 耶穌說：「我就是道路、真理、生命，若不藉著我，沒有人能到父那裡。 7 你們若認識我，也會認識我的父。從現在起，你們不但認識祂，而且也看見祂了。」
8 腓力說：「主啊！求你讓我們看看父，我們就心滿意足了。」
9 耶穌說：「腓力，我和你們相處了這麼久，你還不認識我嗎？人看見了我，就看見了父，你怎麼說『讓我們看看父』呢？ 10 難道你不相信我在父裡面，父也在我裡面嗎？我這些話不是憑自己講的，而是住在我裡面的父在做祂自己的工作。 11 你們應當相信我在父裡面，父也在我裡面。即使你們不信，也應該因我所做的而信我。 12 我實實在在地告訴你們，我所做的事，信我的人也要做，而且要做更大的事，因為我要回到父那裡。 13 你們奉我的名無論求什麼，我必應允，好讓父在子身上得到榮耀。 14 你們若奉我的名向我求什麼，我必應允。
應許賜下聖靈
15 「你們若愛我，就必遵守我的命令。 16 我要求父另外賜一位護慰者給你們，祂要永遠和你們同在。 17 祂是真理的靈，世人不接受祂，因為他們看不見祂，也不認識祂；但你們卻認識祂，因祂常與你們同在，並且要住在你們裡面。 18 我不會撇下你們為孤兒，我必到你們這裡來。 19 不久，世人就看不見我了，而你們卻能看見我，因為我活著，你們也要活著。 20 到了那一天，你們就知道我在父裡面，你們在我裡面，我也在你們裡面。 21 接受我的命令又遵行的，就是愛我的人。愛我的，父必定愛他，我也要愛他，並且要親自向他顯現。」
22 猶大，不是後來出賣耶穌的猶大，問耶穌：「主啊，你為什麼只向我們顯現而不向世人顯現呢？」
23 耶穌回答說：「愛我的人必遵行我的道，我父也必愛他，並且我們要到他那裡與他同住。 24 不愛我的人不會遵行我的道。你們所聽見的道不是出於我自己，而是出於差我來的父。 25 我還與你們在一起的時候，將這些事情都告訴了你們。 26 但護慰者，就是父為我的名而差來的聖靈，將教導你們一切的事，並使你們想起我對你們說的一切話。 27 我把平安留給你們，把我的平安賜給你們，我賜給你們的平安不像世人給的平安。你們心裡不要憂愁，也不要害怕。
28 「我對你們說過，我去了還要再回到你們這裡。如果你們真的愛我，就應當為我去父那裡而歡喜快樂，因為父比我大。 29 現在事情還沒有發生，我便先告訴你們，到了事情發生的時候，你們就會相信。 30 我不再跟你們多談，因為世界的王快要來了。他根本沒有力量勝過我， 31 但這是為了讓世人知道我愛父，父怎麼吩咐我，我就怎麼做。起來，我們走吧！」
真葡萄樹
15 耶穌說：「我是真葡萄樹，我父是栽培的人。 2 屬於我的枝子如果不結果子，祂就把它剪掉；如果結果子，祂便修剪它，讓它結更多的果子。 3 我對你們所講的道已經使你們潔淨了。 4 你們要常在我裡面，我就常在你們裡面。枝子若離開葡萄樹，就不能結果子。同樣，你們若不常在我裡面，也不能結果子。
5 「我是葡萄樹，你們是枝子。常在我裡面的，我也常在他裡面，他就會多結果子，因為你們離開了我什麼都不能做。 6 不常在我裡面的人就像丟在外面枯乾的枝子，最後只有被人拾起來丟在火裡燒掉。 7 如果你們常在我裡面，我的話也常在你們裡面，無論你們求什麼，都會得到應允。 8 你們多結果子，證明自己是我的門徒，就會給我父帶來榮耀。 9 父怎樣愛我，我也怎樣愛你們。你們要常在我的愛中。 10 你們若遵守我的命令，就必常在我的愛中，正如我遵守了父的命令，常在父的愛中一樣。
11 「我把這些事告訴你們，是要叫你們心裡有我的喜樂，讓你們的喜樂滿溢。 12 你們要彼此相愛，像我愛你們一樣，這就是我的命令。 13 為朋友捨命可以說是人間最偉大的愛了。 14 你們如果照我的吩咐去做，就是我的朋友。 15 我不再稱你們為奴僕，因為奴僕不知道主人的事。我稱你們為朋友，因為我把從父那裡聽見的一切都告訴了你們。 16 不是你們揀選了我，而是我揀選了你們，並且派你們出去結永存的果子。這樣，你們奉我的名無論向父求什麼，祂都會賜給你們。 17 我把這些事吩咐你們，是要叫你們彼此相愛。
被世人憎惡
18 「如果世人恨你們，要知道，他們恨你們以前已經恨我了。 19 如果你們屬於這個世界，世人一定會愛你們。可是你們不屬於這世界，我已經把你們揀選出來，因此世人恨你們。 20 你們要記住我說的話，『奴僕不能大過主人。』他們若迫害我，也必迫害你們；他們若遵行我的話，也必遵行你們的話。 21 世人將因為我的名而這樣對待你們，因為他們不認識差我來的那位。 22 我如果沒有來教導他們，他們就沒有罪了，但現在他們的罪無可推諉。 23 恨我的，也恨我的父。 24 我如果沒有在他們當中行過空前的神蹟，他們就沒有罪了。然而，他們親眼看見了，竟然還恨我和我的父。 25 這是要應驗他們律法書上的話，『他們無故地恨我。』
26 「我要從父那裡為你們差護慰者來，祂就是從父而來的真理之靈。祂來了要為我做見證。 27 你們也要為我做見證，因為你們從開始就與我在一起。

13 逾越节前，耶稣知道自己要离开这个世界，到父亲那里去了。他既然一向爱世上属于他的人，现在他向他们表示了这爱所能达到的程度。
2 吃晚饭时，魔鬼钻进了西门之子加略人犹大的心里，叫他伺机出卖耶稣。 3 耶稣知道，父给了他统治一切的权力，他来自上帝，现在就要回到他那里去了， 4 于是他从饭桌边站起身，脱下外衣，在腰间扎了一条毛巾， 5 又倒了一盆水，开始为门徒们洗脚，又用扎在腰上的毛巾为他们揩净。
6 他来到西门彼得身边时，彼得说∶“主，您为我洗脚吗？”
7 耶稣回答他说∶“你现在不明白我在干什么，以后就会知道了。”
8 彼得对他说∶“不，我绝不能让您来给我洗脚！”
耶稣说∶“如果我不给你洗，你将不能与我分享一席之地。”
9 西门彼得又说∶“主，那就别光洗我的脚，请把我的头和手也洗洗吧！”
耶稣对他说∶ 10 “洗过澡的人，全身都是干净的，只需洗脚就行了，你们很干净，但不是所有的人。” 11 （耶稣知道将要背叛他的人，所以才说∶“但不是所有的人。”）
12 给他们洗完脚后，耶稣又穿上外套，回到原来的位子上，对他们说∶“你们明白我为你们所做的事情吗？ 13 你们称我为‘先生’或‘主’，你们说的对，因为我的确是。 14 如果我，一位‘先生’或者‘主’洗了你们的脚，那么你们就应该互相给对方洗脚，我已经给你们做了榜样， 15 你们应该像我对你们所做的那样去做。 16 我实话告诉你们，仆人不会比主人伟大，信使也不会比派遣他们的人伟大。 17 既然你们知道这些，那么，如果你们去做这些事情，就该高兴。
18 “我不是说你们所有的人，我知道我挑选的那些人，但《经》上的话必须实现∶‘分享我的饼的人，竟背离了我。’ 19 事情发生之前，让我先告诉你们，以便等事情发生之后，你们会相信我是 [a]。 20 我实话告诉你们，接受我派遣的人，就是在接受我；接受我的人，也就是在接受派遣我的人。”
耶稣说出将要背叛他的人
21 说完这话后，耶稣非常忧愁，他坦率地说∶“我实话告诉你们，你们当中有一个人要出卖我。”
22 门徒们面面相觑，不知他在说谁。 23 那个耶稣所钟爱的门徒，这时正侧身靠在耶稣身边。 24 西门彼得向他打手势，问耶稣说的可能是谁， 25 那个门徒凑近耶稣，问道∶“主，他是谁？”
26 耶稣回答∶“我蘸下饼，给谁就是谁。”接着，他蘸了一片饼，递给西门之子加略人犹大， 27 犹大一接过饼，撒旦便进入了他的身体，耶稣对他说∶“要干什么就赶快去干吧！” 28 但是，坐在桌边的人，没有一个明白耶稣为什么对他说这话， 29 有些人以为，也许由于犹大管钱箱，耶稣在告诉他去买些过节所需要的东西，或是让他分给穷人些东西。
30 犹大接过饼，立即离开了，当时已是深夜。
耶稣谈自己的死
31 犹大离开后，耶稣说∶“现在，人子得到了他的荣耀。上帝也通过人子得到了荣耀。 32 如果上帝通过人子得到了荣耀，那么，上帝将通过自己把荣耀赐给人子。上帝很快就会给他这荣耀的。”
33 “我的孩子们，我和你们在一起呆不了多久了，你们会寻找我的，就像我告诉犹太人那样，我现在告诉你们，‘我去的地方，你们不能去。’
34 我给你们一条新的命令：你们要彼此相爱。就像我爱你们一样，你们也要彼此互爱。 35 由此，人们将会知道你们是我的门徒。”
耶稣预言彼得不认他
36 西门彼得说∶“主，您要到哪里去呢？”
耶稣告诉他∶“我去的地方，你现在不能跟随我，但是，你以后会的。”
37 彼得说∶“主，为什么我现在不能跟随你呢？我愿为您献出生命。”
38 耶稣回答说∶“你真会为我献出生命吗？我实话告诉你，鸡叫之前，你三次不认我。”
耶稣安慰门徒
14 “不要让内心感到忧愁，坚信上帝，坚信我吧。 2 我父家里有很多房间，（如果不是这样，我会告诉你们的，）我就要去为你们准备好地方。 3 我去为你们准备好地方后，还会再来，把你们接去和我同住，好让你们能到我所在的地方去。 4 你们知道我去哪个地方，要走哪条路。”
5 多马说∶“主，我们连您去哪儿都不知道，怎么能知道那条路呢？”
6 耶稣说∶“我就是道路、是真理、是生命，除非通过我，没人能到父那里去。 7 你们如果认识我，也会认识我父。从现在起，你们的确认识他，也看见过他。”
8 腓力对他说∶“主，让我们看看父吧，我们就满足了。”
9 耶稣说∶“我和你们在一起这么长时间，你们还不认识我吗，腓力？见过我的人就看见父了，你怎么能说∶‘让我们看看父，’呢？ 10 难道你们不相信父中有我，我中有父吗？我对你们说的话，不是出自我自己，而是活在我身体之中的父在进行他的工作。 11 相信我说的话，父中有我，我中有父，至少，因为我行的奇迹而相信我。 12 我实话告诉你们，信仰我的人，也会做我一直在做的事。实际上，他会做比这更了不起的事，因为我要去父那里了。 13 不论你们以我的名义请求什么，我都会为你们做，以便子给父带来荣耀。 14 如果你们以我的名义，向我要求任何事，我都会成全你们。
圣灵的诺言
15 “如果你们爱我，你们就会遵守我的命令， 16 我将请求父赐给你们另外一位帮手 [b]与你们永远在一起： 17 他是真理之灵 [c]，世人不能接受他，因为，世人既看不见他，也不认识他，但是，你们认识他，因为他与你们在一起，在你们心中。
18 我不会让你们成为孤儿，我会回到你们身边， 19 不久，世人将不会再看到我，但你们会看到我。因为我活着，你们也会活着。 20 在那天，你们会知道父中有我，我中有你们，你们之中也有我。 21 接受并遵守我的命令的人，是爱我的人；爱我的人将得到父亲的爱，我也爱他，并把自己向他展现。”
22 犹大（不是加略人犹大）对他说∶“主，您为什么只向我们展现你自己，而不向世人展现呢？”
23 耶稣告诉他∶“如果一个人爱我，他就会遵守我的教导，而且，我父也会爱他，我们会来到他那里，和他生活在一起。 24 不爱我的人，就不会遵守我的教导，你们听到这些话不是我的，而是派我来的父亲的。 25 所有这些都是我和你们在一起的时候说过的。不过你们的帮手－即父亲以我的名义派来的圣灵会教给你们一切， 26 他会提醒你们我告诉过你们的一切。”
27 “我把平安留给你们，我把自己的平安赐给你们，但是，我给你们的方式与这个世界给你们的方式不同。你们不要让内心受到困惑，也不要胆怯。 28 你们听见我对你们说∶‘我要走了，但是，我会回到你们这里的。’你们如果真正爱我，你们就应该高兴，因为，我要到父那里去，父比我伟大。 29 在事情发生之前，我先告诉了你们，所以，当它发生的时候，你们就会相信了。 30 我不能和你们多说了，因为，这个世界的统治者（魔鬼）就要来了。他对我无可奈何。 31 但是，世人必须知道我爱父，并且，完全按照父的命令做事。”

耶稣犹如葡萄藤
15 耶稣说∶“我是真正的葡萄藤，我父是园丁， 2 他砍掉我身上所有不结果的枝条，精心修剪所有结果的枝条，以便让它结得更多。 3 因为我给了你们的教导，你们已经干净了。 4 要继续在我之中，我就会继续在你们之中。就像当枝条离开葡萄藤，就结不出果实一样，除非你们在我之中，否则，就不能结果。”
5 “我是葡萄藤，你们是枝条 [d]，人若在我之中，我也在他之中，这样，这个人才会多结果实；离开我，你们将一事无成。 6 不在我之中的人，就像被扔掉的枝条一样枯死，然后，被人捡起投进火里烧掉。”

耶稣警告他的门徒
18 “如果世人恨你们，你们要记住，他们首先憎恨我。 19 如果你们属于这个世界，这个世界就会像爱自己一样爱你们。但是，你们不属于这个世界，因为，我从这个世界里挑选了你们，所以，这个世界憎恨你们。 20 记住我告诉你们的话，‘仆人不会比主人伟大，’如果他们迫害我，那么，他们也会迫害你们。如果他们遵从我的教导，那么，他们也会遵从你们的教导。 21 他们这样对待你们，是因为我的缘故，因为，他们不知道派我来的那位。 22 如果我没来教导过他们，他们就没有罪，但是现在，他们没有为罪过开脱的借口。 23 恨我的人，就是在恨我父。 24 如果我没有在他们面前做那些前人从未做过的事，他们就没有罪。然而他们目睹了这一切，却仍然憎恨我和我父。 25 这一切正应验了他们律法中的话∶‘他们毫无理由地恨我。’”
26 “从父那里的助手到来之后，他（来自父亲那里的真理之灵）会为我作证。 27 你们也要为我作证，因为，你们一开始就同我在一起。”

Jesus Washes His Disciples’ Feet
13 It was just before the Passover Festival.(A) Jesus knew that the hour had come(B) for him to leave this world and go to the Father.(C) Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.
2 The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus.(D) 3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power,(E) and that he had come from God(F) and was returning to God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist.(G) 5 After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet,(H) drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.
6 He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?”
7 Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”(I)
8 “No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.”
Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.”
9 “Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!”
10 Jesus answered, “Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean,(J) though not every one of you.”(K) 11 For he knew who was going to betray him,(L) and that was why he said not every one was clean.
12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’(M) and ‘Lord,’(N) and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.(O) 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.(P) 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master,(Q) nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.(R)
Jesus Predicts His Betrayal
18 “I am not referring to all of you;(S) I know those I have chosen.(T) But this is to fulfill this passage of Scripture:(U) ‘He who shared my bread(V) has turned[a](W) against me.’[b](X)
19 “I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe(Y) that I am who I am.(Z) 20 Very truly I tell you, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me.”(AA)
21 After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit(AB) and testified, “Very truly I tell you, one of you is going to betray me.”(AC)
22 His disciples stared at one another, at a loss to know which of them he meant. 23 One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved,(AD) was reclining next to him. 24 Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said, “Ask him which one he means.”
25 Leaning back against Jesus, he asked him, “Lord, who is it?”(AE)
26 Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish.” Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas,(AF) the son of Simon Iscariot. 27 As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him.(AG)
So Jesus told him, “What you are about to do, do quickly.” 28 But no one at the meal understood why Jesus said this to him. 29 Since Judas had charge of the money,(AH) some thought Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the festival,(AI) or to give something to the poor.(AJ) 30 As soon as Judas had taken the bread, he went out. And it was night.(AK)
Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial(AL)
31 When he was gone, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man(AM) is glorified(AN) and God is glorified in him.(AO) 32 If God is glorified in him,[c] God will glorify the Son in himself,(AP) and will glorify him at once.
33 “My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come.(AQ)
34 “A new command(AR) I give you: Love one another.(AS) As I have loved you, so you must love one another.(AT) 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”(AU)
36 Simon Peter asked him, “Lord, where are you going?”(AV)
Jesus replied, “Where I am going, you cannot follow now,(AW) but you will follow later.”(AX)
37 Peter asked, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.”
38 Then Jesus answered, “Will you really lay down your life for me? Very truly I tell you, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times!(AY)
Jesus Comforts His Disciples
14 “Do not let your hearts be troubled.(AZ) You believe(BA) in God[d];(BB) believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there(BC) to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back(BD) and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.(BE) 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”
Jesus the Way to the Father
5 Thomas(BF) said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus answered, “I am(BG) the way(BH) and the truth(BI) and the life.(BJ) No one comes to the Father except through me.(BK) 7 If you really know me, you will know[e] my Father as well.(BL) From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
8 Philip(BM) said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.(BN) How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me?(BO) The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority.(BP) Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves.(BQ) 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes(BR) in me will do the works I have been doing,(BS) and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask(BT) in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit
15 “If you love me, keep my commands.(BU) 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate(BV) to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth.(BW) The world cannot accept him,(BX) because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[f] in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans;(BY) I will come to you.(BZ) 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me.(CA) Because I live, you also will live.(CB) 20 On that day(CC) you will realize that I am in my Father,(CD) and you are in me, and I am in you.(CE) 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me.(CF) The one who loves me will be loved by my Father,(CG) and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching.(CJ) My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.(CK) 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.(CL)
25 “All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate,(CM) the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name,(CN) will teach you all things(CO) and will remind you of everything I have said to you.(CP) 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.(CQ) I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled(CR) and do not be afraid.
28 “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’(CS) If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father,(CT) for the Father is greater than I.(CU) 29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe.(CV) 30 I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world(CW) is coming. He has no hold over me, 31 but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.(CX)

The Vine and the Branches
15 “I am(CY) the true vine,(CZ) and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit,(DA) while every branch that does bear fruit(DB) he prunes[g] so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.(DC) 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you.(DD) No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit;(DE) apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.(DF) 7 If you remain in me(DG) and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.(DH) 8 This is to my Father’s glory,(DI) that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.(DJ)

The World Hates the Disciples
18 “If the world hates you,(DW) keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you(DX) out of the world. 13 逾越節之前，耶穌知道自己快要離開世界回到父那裡了。祂一直愛世上屬自己的人，並且愛他們到底。 2 吃晚飯的時候，魔鬼已經把出賣耶穌的念頭放在加略人西門的兒子猶大的心裡。 3 耶穌知道父將一切交給了祂，也知道自己從上帝那裡來、要回到上帝那裡， 4 就離席站起來，脫了外衣，把毛巾束在腰間， 5 然後倒了一盆水為門徒洗腳，用束在腰間的毛巾擦乾。 6 輪到西門·彼得的時候，他說：「主啊！你要洗我的腳嗎？」

預言猶大賣主
21 說完這番話，耶穌心裡憂傷，便宣佈說：「我實實在在地告訴你們，你們中間有一個人要出賣我。」 22 門徒面面相覷，不知道耶穌指的是誰。 23-24 西門·彼得向耶穌所愛的那個門徒點頭示意，讓他問耶穌到底是誰要出賣祂。那門徒坐在耶穌旁邊， 25 便順勢靠過去問耶穌：「主啊，是誰呢？」

新命令

預言彼得不認主
36 西門·彼得問耶穌：「主啊，你要到哪裡去？」
耶穌回答說：「我要去的地方，你現在不能跟我去，但將來必定跟我去。」
37 彼得說：「主啊！為什麼我現在不能跟你去呢？就是為你死，我也願意！」
38 耶穌說：「你真的願意為我死嗎？我實實在在地告訴你，雞叫以前，你會三次不認我。」
耶穌是道路、真理、生命
14 耶穌繼續說：「你們心裡不要憂愁，你們要信上帝，也要信我。 2 我父的家裡有許多住處，不然我就不會說去為你們安排地方了。 3 我安排好了以後，必定回來接你們到我那裡。我在哪裡，讓你們也在哪裡。 4 你們知道通往我要去的地方的路。」
5 多馬說：「主啊，你要去哪裡，我們還不知道，又怎麼會知道路呢？」
6 耶穌說：「我就是道路、真理、生命，若不藉著我，沒有人能到父那裡。 7 你們若認識我，也會認識我的父。從現在起，你們不但認識祂，而且也看見祂了。」

2 吃晚饭时，魔鬼钻进了西门之子加略人犹大的心里，叫他伺机出卖耶稣。 3 耶稣知道，父给了他统治一切的权力，他来自上帝，现在就要回到他那里去了， 4 于是他从饭桌边站起身，脱下外衣，在腰间扎了一条毛巾， 5 又倒了一盆水，开始为门徒们洗脚，又用扎在腰上的毛巾为他们揩净。
6 他来到西门彼得身边时，彼得说∶“主，您为我洗脚吗？”
7 耶稣回答他说∶“你现在不明白我在干什么，以后就会知道了。”
8 彼得对他说∶“不，我绝不能让您来给我洗脚！”
耶稣说∶“如果我不给你洗，你将不能与我分享一席之地。”

耶稣说出将要背叛他的人

22 门徒们面面相觑，不知他在说谁。 23 那个耶稣所钟爱的门徒，这时正侧身靠在耶稣身边。 24 西门彼得向他打手势，问耶稣说的可能是谁， 25 那个门徒凑近耶稣，问道∶“主，他是谁？”
26 耶稣回答∶“我蘸下饼，给谁就是谁。”接着，他蘸了一片饼，递给西门之子加略人犹大， 27 犹大一接过饼，撒旦便进入了他的身体，耶稣对他说∶“要干什么就赶快去干吧！” 28 但是，坐在桌边的人，没有一个明白耶稣为什么对他说这话， 29 有些人以为，也许由于犹大管钱箱，耶稣在告诉他去买些过节所需要的东西，或是让他分给穷人些东西。
30 犹大接过饼，立即离开了，当时已是深夜。
耶稣谈自己的死
31 犹大离开后，耶稣说∶“现在，人子得到了他的荣耀。上帝也通过人子得到了荣耀。 32 如果上帝通过人子得到了荣耀，那么，上帝将通过自己把荣耀赐给人子。上帝很快就会给他这荣耀的。”
33 “我的孩子们，我和你们在一起呆不了多久了，你们会寻找我的，就像我告诉犹太人那样，我现在告诉你们，‘我去的地方，你们不能去。’
34 我给你们一条新的命令：你们要彼此相爱。就像我爱你们一样，你们也要彼此互爱。 35 由此，人们将会知道你们是我的门徒。”
耶稣预言彼得不认他
36 西门彼得说∶“主，您要到哪里去呢？”
耶稣告诉他∶“我去的地方，你现在不能跟随我，但是，你以后会的。”
37 彼得说∶“主，为什么我现在不能跟随你呢？我愿为您献出生命。”
38 耶稣回答说∶“你真会为我献出生命吗？我实话告诉你，鸡叫之前，你三次不认我。”
耶稣安慰门徒
14 “不要让内心感到忧愁，坚信上帝，坚信我吧。 2 我父家里有很多房间，（如果不是这样，我会告诉你们的，）我就要去为你们准备好地方。 3 我去为你们准备好地方后，还会再来，把你们接去和我同住，好让你们能到我所在的地方去。 4 你们知道我去哪个地方，要走哪条路。”
5 多马说∶“主，我们连您去哪儿都不知道，怎么能知道那条路呢？”
6 耶稣说∶“我就是道路、是真理、是生命，除非通过我，没人能到父那里去。 7 你们如果认识我，也会认识我父。从现在起，你们的确认识他，也看见过他。”
8 腓力对他说∶“主，让我们看看父吧，我们就满足了。”
9 耶稣说∶“我和你们在一起这么长时间，你们还不认识我吗，腓力？见过我的人就看见父了，你怎么能说∶‘让我们看看父，’呢？ 10 难道你们不相信父中有我，我中有父吗？我对你们说的话，不是出自我自己，而是活在我身体之中的父在进行他的工作。 11 相信我说的话，父中有我，我中有父，至少，因为我行的奇迹而相信我。 12 我实话告诉你们，信仰我的人，也会做我一直在做的事。实际上，他会做比这更了不起的事，因为我要去父那里了。 13 不论你们以我的名义请求什么，我都会为你们做，以便子给父带来荣耀。 14 如果你们以我的名义，向我要求任何事，我都会成全你们。

Jesus Washes His Disciples’ Feet
13 It was just before the Passover Festival.(A) Jesus knew that the hour had come(B) for him to leave this world and go to the Father.(C) Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.
2 The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus.(D) 3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power,(E) and that he had come from God(F) and was returning to God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist.(G) 5 After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet,(H) drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.
6 He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?”
7 Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”(I)
8 “No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.”
Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.”
9 “Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!”

Jesus Predicts His Betrayal
18 “I am not referring to all of you;(S) I know those I have chosen.(T) But this is to fulfill this passage of Scripture:(U) ‘He who shared my bread(V) has turned[a](W) against me.’[b](X)
19 “I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe(Y) that I am who I am.(Z) 20 Very truly I tell you, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me.”(AA)
21 After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit(AB) and testified, “Very truly I tell you, one of you is going to betray me.”(AC)
22 His disciples stared at one another, at a loss to know which of them he meant. 23 One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved,(AD) was reclining next to him. 24 Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said, “Ask him which one he means.”
25 Leaning back against Jesus, he asked him, “Lord, who is it?”(AE)
26 Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish.” Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas,(AF) the son of Simon Iscariot. 27 As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him.(AG)
So Jesus told him, “What you are about to do, do quickly.” 28 But no one at the meal understood why Jesus said this to him. 29 Since Judas had charge of the money,(AH) some thought Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the festival,(AI) or to give something to the poor.(AJ) 30 As soon as Judas had taken the bread, he went out. And it was night.(AK)
Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial(AL)
31 When he was gone, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man(AM) is glorified(AN) and God is glorified in him.(AO) 32 If God is glorified in him,[c] God will glorify the Son in himself,(AP) and will glorify him at once.
33 “My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come.(AQ)
34 “A new command(AR) I give you: Love one another.(AS) As I have loved you, so you must love one another.(AT) 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”(AU)
36 Simon Peter asked him, “Lord, where are you going?”(AV)
Jesus replied, “Where I am going, you cannot follow now,(AW) but you will follow later.”(AX)
37 Peter asked, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.”
38 Then Jesus answered, “Will you really lay down your life for me? Very truly I tell you, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times!(AY)
Jesus Comforts His Disciples
14 “Do not let your hearts be troubled.(AZ) You believe(BA) in God[d];(BB) believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there(BC) to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back(BD) and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.(BE) 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”
Jesus the Way to the Father
5 Thomas(BF) said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus answered, “I am(BG) the way(BH) and the truth(BI) and the life.(BJ) No one comes to the Father except through me.(BK) 7 If you really know me, you will know[e] my Father as well.(BL) From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
8 Philip(BM) said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.(BN) How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me?(BO) The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority.(BP) Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves.(BQ) 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes(BR) in me will do the works I have been doing,(BS) and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask(BT) in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit
15 “If you love me, keep my commands.(BU) 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate(BV) to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth.(BW) The world cannot accept him,(BX) because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[f] in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans;(BY) I will come to you.(BZ) 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me.(CA) Because I live, you also will live.(CB) 20 On that day(CC) you will realize that I am in my Father,(CD) and you are in me, and I am in you.(CE) 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me.(CF) The one who loves me will be loved by my Father,(CG) and I too will love them and show myself to them.”
22 Then Judas(CH) (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”(CI)
23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching.(CJ) My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.(CK) 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.(CL)
25 “All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate,(CM) the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name,(CN) will teach you all things(CO) and will remind you of everything I have said to you.(CP) 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.(CQ) I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled(CR) and do not be afraid.
28 “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’(CS) If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father,(CT) for the Father is greater than I.(CU) 29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe.(CV) 30 I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world(CW) is coming. He has no hold over me, 31 but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.(CX)
