耶穌是道路、真理、生命
14 「你們心裏不要憂愁；你們信 神，也當信我。 2 在我父的家裏有許多住處；若是沒有，我就早已告訴你們了。我去原是為你們預備地方去。[a] 3 我若去為你們預備了地方，就必再來接你們到我那裏去，我在哪裏，叫你們也在哪裏。 4 我往哪裏去，你們知道那條路。」 5 多馬對他說：「主啊，我們不知道你去哪裏，怎麼能知道那條路呢？」 6 耶穌對他說：「我就是道路、真理、生命；若不藉着我，沒有人能到父那裏去。 7 既然你們認識了我，也會認識我的父。從今以後，你們就認識他，並且已經看見他了。」
8 腓力對他說：「主啊，將父顯給我們看，我們就知足了。」 9 耶穌對他說：「腓力，我與你們在一起這麼久了，你還不認識我嗎？看見我的就是看見了父，你怎麼還說『將父顯給我們看』呢？ 10 我在父裏面，父在我裏面，你不信嗎？我對你們所說的話不是憑着自己說的，而是住在我裏面的父在做他的工作。 11 你們要信我，我在父裏面，父在我裏面；即使不信，也要因我所做的工作信我。 12 我實實在在地告訴你們，我所做的工作，信我的人也要做，並且要做得比這些更大，因為我到父那裏去。 13 你們奉我的名無論求甚麼，我必成全，為了使父因兒子得榮耀。 14 你們若奉我的名向我求甚麼，我必成全。」

15 「你們若愛我，就會遵守我的命令。 16 我要求父，父就賜給你們另外一位保惠師[b]，使他永遠與你們同在。 17 他就是真理的靈，是世人不能接受的。因為他們既看不見他，也不認識他；你們卻認識他，因他常與你們同在，也要在你們裏面。 18 我不會撇下你們為孤兒，我必到你們這裏來。 19 再過不久，世人不再看見我，你們卻會看見我，因為我活着，你們也要活着。 20 到那日，你們就會知道我在父裏面，你們在我裏面，我也在你們裏面。 21 有了我的命令而又遵守的人，就是愛我的；愛我的人，我父要愛他，我也要愛他，並且要親自向他顯現。」 22 猶大（不是加略人猶大）問耶穌：「主啊，為甚麼親自向我們顯現，而不向世人顯現呢？」 23 耶穌回答他說：「凡愛我的人就會遵守我的道，我父也會愛他，並且我們要到他那裏去，與他同住。 24 不愛我的人就不遵守我的道。你們所聽見的道不是我的，而是差我來之父的。
25 「我還與你們在一起的時候，已對你們說了這些事。 26 但保惠師，就是父因我的名所要差來的聖靈，他要把一切的事教導你們，並且要使你們想起我對你們所說的一切話。 27 我留下平安給你們，我把我的平安賜給你們。我所賜給你們的，不像世人所賜的。你們心裏不要憂愁，也不要膽怯。 28 你們聽見我對你們說過，我去了還要回到你們這裏來。你們若愛我，就會因我到父那裏去而喜樂，因為父比我大。 29 現在事情還沒有發生，我預先告訴你們，使你們在事情發生的時候會信。 30 我不再和你們多說了，因為這世界的統治者將到，他在我身上一無所能。 31 我這麼做是照着父命令我的，為了讓世人知道我愛父。起來，我們走吧！」

14 耶稣继续说：“你们心里不要忧愁，你们要信上帝，也要信我。 2 我父的家里有许多住处，不然我就不会说去为你们安排地方了。 3 我安排好了以后，必定回来接你们到我那里。我在哪里，让你们也在哪里。 4 你们知道通往我要去的地方的路。”
5 多马说：“主啊，你要去哪里，我们还不知道，又怎么会知道路呢？”
6 耶稣说：“我就是道路、真理、生命，若不借着我，没有人能到父那里。 7 你们若认识我，也会认识我的父。从现在起，你们不但认识祂，而且也看见祂了。”
8 腓力说：“主啊！求你让我们看看父，我们就心满意足了。”
9 耶稣说：“腓力，我和你们相处了这么久，你还不认识我吗？人看见了我，就看见了父，你怎么说‘让我们看看父’呢？ 10 难道你不相信我在父里面，父也在我里面吗？我这些话不是凭自己讲的，而是住在我里面的父在做祂自己的工作。 11 你们应当相信我在父里面，父也在我里面。即使你们不信，也应该因我所做的而信我。 12 我实实在在地告诉你们，我所做的事，信我的人也要做，而且要做更大的事，因为我要回到父那里。 13 你们奉我的名无论求什么，我必应允，好让父在子身上得到荣耀。 14 你们若奉我的名向我求什么，我必应允。
应许赐下圣灵
15 “你们若爱我，就必遵守我的命令。 16 我要求父另外赐一位护慰者给你们，祂要永远和你们同在。 17 祂是真理的灵，世人不接受祂，因为他们看不见祂，也不认识祂；但你们却认识祂，因祂常与你们同在，并且要住在你们里面。 18 我不会撇下你们为孤儿，我必到你们这里来。 19 不久，世人就看不见我了，而你们却能看见我，因为我活着，你们也要活着。 20 到了那一天，你们就知道我在父里面，你们在我里面，我也在你们里面。 21 接受我的命令又遵行的，就是爱我的人。爱我的，父必定爱他，我也要爱他，并且要亲自向他显现。”
22 犹大，不是后来出卖耶稣的犹大，问耶稣：“主啊，你为什么只向我们显现而不向世人显现呢？”
23 耶稣回答说：“爱我的人必遵行我的道，我父也必爱他，并且我们要到他那里与他同住。 24 不爱我的人不会遵行我的道。你们所听见的道不是出于我自己，而是出于差我来的父。 25 我还与你们在一起的时候，将这些事情都告诉了你们。 26 但护慰者，就是父为我的名而差来的圣灵，将教导你们一切的事，并使你们想起我对你们说的一切话。 27 我把平安留给你们，把我的平安赐给你们，我赐给你们的平安不像世人给的平安。你们心里不要忧愁，也不要害怕。
28 “我对你们说过，我去了还要再回到你们这里。如果你们真的爱我，就应当为我去父那里而欢喜快乐，因为父比我大。 29 现在事情还没有发生，我便先告诉你们，到了事情发生的时候，你们就会相信。 30 我不再跟你们多谈，因为世界的王快要来了。他根本没有力量胜过我， 31 但这是为了让世人知道我爱父，父怎么吩咐我，我就怎么做。起来，我们走吧！”

14 (A)«Il vostro cuore non sia turbato; abbiate fede in Dio, e abbiate fede anche in me[a]!
2 Nella casa del Padre mio ci sono molte dimore; se no, vi avrei detto forse che io vado a prepararvi un luogo? 3 Quando sarò andato e vi avrò preparato un luogo, tornerò e vi accoglierò presso di me, affinché dove sono io, siate anche voi; 4 e del luogo dove io vado, sapete anche la via».
5 *Tommaso gli disse: «Signore, non sappiamo dove vai; come possiamo sapere la via?» 6 Gesú gli disse: «Io sono la via, la verità e la vita; nessuno viene al Padre se non per mezzo di me. 7 Se mi aveste conosciuto avreste conosciuto anche mio Padre; e fin da ora lo conoscete, e l'avete visto».
8 *Filippo gli disse: «Signore, mostraci il Padre e ci basta». 9 Gesú gli disse: «Da tanto tempo sono con voi e tu non mi hai conosciuto, Filippo? Chi ha visto me, ha visto il Padre; come mai tu dici: “Mostraci il Padre”? 10 Non credi tu che io sono nel Padre e che il Padre è in me? Le parole che io vi dico, non le dico di mio; ma il Padre che dimora in me, fa le opere sue. 11 Credetemi: io sono nel Padre e il Padre è in me; se no, credete a causa di quelle opere stesse.
12 In verità, in verità vi dico che chi crede in me farà anch'egli le opere che faccio io; e ne farà di maggiori, perché io me ne vado al Padre; 13 e quello che chiederete nel mio nome, lo farò; affinché il Padre sia glorificato nel Figlio. 14 Se mi chiederete qualche cosa nel mio nome, io la farò.

15 (B)«Se voi mi amate, osserverete i miei comandamenti; 16 e io pregherò il Padre, ed Egli vi darà un altro *Consolatore, perché stia con voi per sempre, 17 lo Spirito della verità, che il mondo non può ricevere perché non lo vede e non lo conosce. Voi lo conoscete, perché dimora con voi, e sarà in voi. 18 Non vi lascerò orfani; tornerò da voi. 19 Ancora un po', e il mondo non mi vedrà piú; ma voi mi vedrete, perché io vivo e voi vivrete. 20 In quel giorno conoscerete che io sono nel Padre mio, e voi in me e io in voi. 21 Chi ha i miei comandamenti e li osserva, quello mi ama; e chi mi ama sarà amato dal Padre mio, e io lo amerò e mi manifesterò a lui».
22 *Giuda (non l'Iscariota) gli domandò: «Signore, come mai ti manifesterai a noi e non al mondo?» 23 Gesú gli rispose: «Se uno mi ama, osserverà la mia parola; e il Padre mio l'amerà, e noi verremo da lui e dimoreremo presso di lui. 24 Chi non mi ama non osserva le mie parole; e la parola che voi udite non è mia, ma è del Padre che mi ha mandato.
25 Vi ho detto queste cose, stando ancora con voi; 26 ma il *Consolatore, lo Spirito Santo, che il Padre manderà nel mio nome, vi insegnerà ogni cosa e vi ricorderà tutto quello che vi ho detto.
27 Vi lascio pace; vi do la mia pace. Io non vi do come il mondo dà[b]. Il vostro cuore non sia turbato e non si sgomenti.
28 Avete udito che vi ho detto: “Io me ne vado, e torno da voi”; se voi mi amaste, vi rallegrereste che io vada al Padre, perché il Padre è maggiore di me. 29 Ora ve l'ho detto prima che avvenga, affinché, quando sarà avvenuto, crediate. 30 Io non parlerò piú con voi per molto, perché viene il principe di questo mondo. Egli non può nulla contro di me;[c] 31 ma cosí avviene affinché il mondo conosca che amo il Padre e opero come il Padre mi ha ordinato. Alzatevi, andiamo via di qui.

Jesus Comforts His Disciples
14 “Do not let your hearts be troubled.(A) You believe(B) in God[a];(C) believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there(D) to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back(E) and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.(F) 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”
Jesus the Way to the Father
5 Thomas(G) said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus answered, “I am(H) the way(I) and the truth(J) and the life.(K) No one comes to the Father except through me.(L) 7 If you really know me, you will know[b] my Father as well.(M) From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
8 Philip(N) said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.(O) How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me?(P) The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority.(Q) Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves.(R) 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes(S) in me will do the works I have been doing,(T) and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask(U) in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit
15 “If you love me, keep my commands.(V) 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate(W) to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth.(X) The world cannot accept him,(Y) because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[c] in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans;(Z) I will come to you.(AA) 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me.(AB) Because I live, you also will live.(AC) 20 On that day(AD) you will realize that I am in my Father,(AE) and you are in me, and I am in you.(AF) 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me.(AG) The one who loves me will be loved by my Father,(AH) and I too will love them and show myself to them.”
22 Then Judas(AI) (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”(AJ)
23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching.(AK) My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.(AL) 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.(AM)
25 “All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate,(AN) the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name,(AO) will teach you all things(AP) and will remind you of everything I have said to you.(AQ) 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.(AR) I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled(AS) and do not be afraid.
28 “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’(AT) If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father,(AU) for the Father is greater than I.(AV) 29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe.(AW) 30 I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world(AX) is coming. He has no hold over me, 31 but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.(AY)
“Come now; let us leave.
