1 (A)El Señor habló a Moisés en el desierto de Sinaí, en la tienda de reunión, el primer día del segundo mes, en el segundo año(B) de su salida de la tierra de Egipto, diciendo: 2 Haz un censo[a] de toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel por sus familias, por sus casas paternas(C), según el número de nombres, todo varón, uno por uno[b]; 3 de veinte años arriba(D), todos los que pueden salir a la guerra en Israel, tú y Aarón los contaréis[c] por sus ejércitos. 4 Con vosotros estará además, un hombre de cada tribu, cada uno jefe(E) de su casa paterna. 5 Estos son los nombres de los hombres que estarán con vosotros: de Rubén(F), Elisur, hijo de Sedeur; 6 de Simeón, Selumiel, hijo de Zurisadai; 7 de Judá, Naasón(G), hijo de Aminadab; 8 de Isacar, Natanael, hijo de Zuar; 9 de Zabulón, Eliab, hijo de Helón; 10 de los hijos de José: de Efraín, Elisama, hijo de Amiud, y de Manasés, Gamaliel, hijo de Pedasur; 11 de Benjamín, Abidán, hijo de Gedeoni; 12 de Dan, Ahiezer, hijo de Amisadai; 13 de Aser, Pagiel, hijo de Ocrán; 14 de Gad, Eliasaf, hijo de Deuel(H); 15 de Neftalí, Ahira, hijo de Enán. 16 Estos son los que fueron llamados de la congregación(I), los principales de las tribus de sus padres; ellos fueron los jefes de las divisiones[d](J) de Israel. 17 Entonces Moisés y Aarón tomaron a estos hombres que habían sido designados por sus nombres, 18 y reunieron a toda la congregación el primer día del mes segundo(K). Y se registraron según sus antepasados por familias, por sus casas paternas(L), según el número de nombres, de veinte años arriba, uno por uno. 19 Tal como el Señor(M) lo había mandado a Moisés, los contó en el desierto de Sinaí.
20 De los hijos de Rubén, primogénito de Israel, fueron contados por su registro genealógico, por sus familias, por sus casas paternas, según el número de nombres, uno por uno, todo varón de veinte años arriba, todo el que podía salir a la guerra; 21 los enumerados[e] de la tribu de Rubén fueron cuarenta y seis mil quinientos(N).
22 (O)De los hijos de Simeón, fueron contados por su registro genealógico, por sus familias, por sus casas paternas, sus enumerados, según el número de nombres, uno por uno, todo varón de veinte años arriba, todo el que podía salir a la guerra(P); 23 los enumerados de la tribu de Simeón fueron cincuenta y nueve mil trescientos.
24 (Q)De los hijos de Gad, fueron contados por su registro genealógico, por sus familias, por sus casas paternas, según el número de nombres, de veinte años arriba, todo el que podía salir a la guerra; 25 los enumerados de la tribu de Gad fueron cuarenta y cinco mil seiscientos cincuenta.
26 (R)De los hijos de Judá, fueron contados por su registro genealógico, por sus familias, por sus casas paternas, según el número de nombres, de veinte años arriba, todo el que podía salir a la guerra; 27 los enumerados de la tribu de Judá fueron setenta y cuatro mil seiscientos.
28 (S)De los hijos de Isacar, fueron contados por su registro genealógico, por sus familias, por sus casas paternas, según el número de nombres, de veinte años arriba, todo el que podía salir a la guerra; 29 los enumerados de la tribu de Isacar fueron cincuenta y cuatro mil cuatrocientos.
30 (T)De los hijos de Zabulón, fueron contados por su registro genealógico, por sus familias, por sus casas paternas, según el número de nombres, de veinte años arriba, todo el que podía salir a la guerra; 31 los enumerados de la tribu de Zabulón fueron cincuenta y siete mil cuatrocientos.
32 (U)De los hijos de José: de los hijos de Efraín, fueron contados por su registro genealógico, por sus familias, por sus casas paternas, según el número de nombres, de veinte años arriba, todo el que podía salir a la guerra; 33 los enumerados de la tribu de Efraín fueron cuarenta mil quinientos.
34 (V)De los hijos de Manasés, fueron contados por su registro genealógico, por sus familias, por sus casas paternas, según el número de nombres, de veinte años arriba, todo el que podía salir a la guerra; 35 los enumerados de la tribu de Manasés fueron treinta y dos mil doscientos.
36 (W)De los hijos de Benjamín, fueron contados por su registro genealógico, por sus familias, por sus casas paternas, según el número de nombres, de veinte años arriba, todo el que podía salir a la guerra; 37 los enumerados de la tribu de Benjamín fueron treinta y cinco mil cuatrocientos.
38 (X)De los hijos de Dan, fueron contados por su registro genealógico, por sus familias, por sus casas paternas, según el número de nombres, de veinte años arriba, todo el que podía salir a la guerra; 39 los enumerados de la tribu de Dan fueron sesenta y dos mil setecientos.
40 (Y)De los hijos de Aser, fueron contados por su registro genealógico, por sus familias, por sus casas paternas, según el número de nombres, de veinte años arriba, todo el que podía salir a la guerra; 41 los enumerados de la tribu de Aser fueron cuarenta y un mil quinientos.
42 (Z)De los hijos de Neftalí, fueron contados por su registro genealógico, por sus familias, por sus casas paternas, según el número de nombres, de veinte años arriba, todo el que podía salir a la guerra; 43 los enumerados de la tribu de Neftalí fueron cincuenta y tres mil cuatrocientos.
44 Estos son los que fueron enumerados, los que Moisés y Aarón contaron con los jefes de Israel, doce hombres, cada uno de los cuales era jefe de su casa paterna. 45 Y todos los enumerados de los hijos de Israel por sus casas paternas, de veinte años arriba, todo el que podía salir a la guerra en Israel, 46 fueron[f] seiscientos tres mil quinientos cincuenta(AA).
47 Pero los levitas no fueron enumerados con[g] ellos(AB) según la tribu de sus padres. 48 Porque el Señor había hablado a Moisés, diciendo: 49 Solamente la tribu de Leví no enumerarás, ni los contarás con[h] los hijos de Israel(AC); 50 sino que pondrás a los levitas a cargo del[i] tabernáculo[j] del testimonio, de[k] todos sus utensilios y de[l] todo lo que le pertenece. Ellos llevarán el tabernáculo y todos sus utensilios, y lo cuidarán; además, acamparán alrededor del tabernáculo(AD). 51 Y cuando el tabernáculo haya de ser trasladado, los levitas lo desarmarán; y cuando el tabernáculo acampe, los levitas lo armarán(AE). Pero el extraño[m] que se acerque, morirá(AF). 52 Y acamparán los hijos de Israel, cada uno en su campamento, y cada uno junto a su bandera, según sus ejércitos(AG). 53 Pero los levitas acamparán alrededor del tabernáculo del testimonio(AH), para que no venga la ira sobre la congregación de los hijos de Israel(AI). Los levitas, pues, tendrán a su cargo el tabernáculo del testimonio(AJ). 54 Así hicieron los hijos de Israel; conforme a todo lo que el Señor había mandado a Moisés, así hicieron.

The Census
1 The Lord spoke to Moses in the tent of meeting(A) in the Desert of Sinai(B) on the first day of the second month(C) of the second year after the Israelites came out of Egypt.(D) He said: 2 “Take a census(E) of the whole Israelite community by their clans and families,(F) listing every man by name,(G) one by one. 3 You and Aaron(H) are to count according to their divisions all the men in Israel who are twenty years old or more(I) and able to serve in the army.(J) 4 One man from each tribe,(K) each of them the head of his family,(L) is to help you.(M) 5 These are the names(N) of the men who are to assist you:
from Reuben,(O) Elizur son of Shedeur;(P)
6 from Simeon,(Q) Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai;(R)
7 from Judah,(S) Nahshon son of Amminadab;(T)
8 from Issachar,(U) Nethanel son of Zuar;(V)
9 from Zebulun,(W) Eliab son of Helon;(X)
10 from the sons of Joseph:
from Ephraim,(Y) Elishama son of Ammihud;(Z)
from Manasseh,(AA) Gamaliel son of Pedahzur;(AB)
11 from Benjamin,(AC) Abidan son of Gideoni;(AD)
12 from Dan,(AE) Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai;(AF)
13 from Asher,(AG) Pagiel son of Okran;(AH)
16 These were the men appointed from the community, the leaders(AM) of their ancestral tribes.(AN) They were the heads of the clans of Israel.(AO)
17 Moses and Aaron took these men whose names had been specified, 18 and they called the whole community together on the first day of the second month.(AP) The people registered their ancestry(AQ) by their clans and families,(AR) and the men twenty years old or more(AS) were listed by name, one by one, 19 as the Lord commanded Moses. And so he counted(AT) them in the Desert of Sinai:
20 From the descendants of Reuben(AU) the firstborn son(AV) of Israel:
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, one by one, according to the records of their clans and families. 21 The number from the tribe of Reuben(AW) was 46,500.
22 From the descendants of Simeon:(AX)
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were counted and listed by name, one by one, according to the records of their clans and families. 23 The number from the tribe of Simeon was 59,300.(AY)
24 From the descendants of Gad:(AZ)
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families. 25 The number from the tribe of Gad(BA) was 45,650.
26 From the descendants of Judah:(BB)
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families. 27 The number from the tribe of Judah(BC) was 74,600.
28 From the descendants of Issachar:(BD)
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families. 29 The number from the tribe of Issachar(BE) was 54,400.(BF)
30 From the descendants of Zebulun:(BG)
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families. 31 The number from the tribe of Zebulun was 57,400.(BH)
32 From the sons of Joseph:(BI)
From the descendants of Ephraim:(BJ)
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families. 33 The number from the tribe of Ephraim(BK) was 40,500.
34 From the descendants of Manasseh:(BL)
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families. 35 The number from the tribe of Manasseh was 32,200.
36 From the descendants of Benjamin:(BM)
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families. 37 The number from the tribe of Benjamin(BN) was 35,400.
38 From the descendants of Dan:(BO)
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families. 39 The number from the tribe of Dan was 62,700.(BP)
40 From the descendants of Asher:(BQ)
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families. 41 The number from the tribe of Asher(BR) was 41,500.
42 From the descendants of Naphtali:(BS)
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families. 43 The number from the tribe of Naphtali(BT) was 53,400.(BU)
44 These were the men counted by Moses and Aaron(BV) and the twelve leaders of Israel, each one representing his family. 45 All the Israelites twenty years old or more(BW) who were able to serve in Israel’s army were counted according to their families.(BX) 46 The total number was 603,550.(BY)
47 The ancestral tribe of the Levites,(BZ) however, was not counted(CA) along with the others. 48 The Lord had said to Moses: 49 “You must not count the tribe of Levi or include them in the census of the other Israelites. 50 Instead, appoint the Levites to be in charge of the tabernacle(CB) of the covenant law(CC)—over all its furnishings(CD) and everything belonging to it. They are to carry the tabernacle and all its furnishings; they are to take care of it and encamp around it. 51 Whenever the tabernacle(CE) is to move,(CF) the Levites are to take it down, and whenever the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites shall do it.(CG) Anyone else who approaches it is to be put to death.(CH) 52 The Israelites are to set up their tents by divisions, each of them in their own camp under their standard.(CI) 53 The Levites, however, are to set up their tents around the tabernacle(CJ) of the covenant law so that my wrath will not fall(CK) on the Israelite community. The Levites are to be responsible for the care of the tabernacle of the covenant law.(CL)”
54 The Israelites did all this just as the Lord commanded Moses.

18 And they assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month, and they declared their pedigrees after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, by their polls.
19 As the Lord commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the wilderness of Sinai.
20 And the children of Reuben, Israel's eldest son, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
21 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Reuben, were forty and six thousand and five hundred.
22 Of the children of Simeon, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, those that were numbered of them, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
23 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred.
24 Of the children of Gad, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
25 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Gad, were forty and five thousand six hundred and fifty.

44 These are those that were numbered, which Moses and Aaron numbered, and the princes of Israel, being twelve men: each one was for the house of his fathers.
45 So were all those that were numbered of the children of Israel, by the house of their fathers, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war in Israel;
46 Even all they that were numbered were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.
47 But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not numbered among them.
48 For the Lord had spoken unto Moses, saying,
49 Only thou shalt not number the tribe of Levi, neither take the sum of them among the children of Israel:
50 But thou shalt appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of testimony, and over all the vessels thereof, and over all things that belong to it: they shall bear the tabernacle, and all the vessels thereof; and they shall minister unto it, and shall encamp round about the tabernacle.
51 And when the tabernacle setteth forward, the Levites shall take it down: and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
52 And the children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, throughout their hosts.
53 But the Levites shall pitch round about the tabernacle of testimony, that there be no wrath upon the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall keep the charge of the tabernacle of testimony.
54 And the children of Israel did according to all that the Lord commanded Moses, so did they.
