他们的荣美,都像草上的花;

Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ to the chosen pilgrims[a] of the dispersion of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bythinia, according-to[b] the foreknowledge of God the Father, in[c] the sanctification[d] of the Spirit, for[e] obedience and the sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: May grace and peace be multiplied to you.

Blessed Be God For Our Present And Future Salvation, Which Was Prophesied Long Ago

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the One having caused us to be born-again[f] according to His great mercy to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an undecayable[g] and undefiled and unfading inheritance having been reserved[h] in the heavens for you— the ones being guarded by the power of God through faith for[i] a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time,

... in which you are rejoicing-greatly, [although] right-now for a little while, if it is necessary, having been grieved by various trials in order that the genuineness of your faith— being more-valuable than gold (which is perishing), though being tested by fire— may be found resulting-in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ,

... Whom not having seen, you are loving; in Whom— right-now not seeing Him, but believing— you are rejoicing-greatly with inexpressible[j] and glorified joy while receiving[k] the outcome[l] of your faith, the salvation of your souls,

10 ... concerning which salvation prophets sought-out and searched-out— the ones having prophesied about the grace for[m] you— 11 searching for what person[n] or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating while predicting the sufferings for Christ and the glories after these, 12 to whom it was revealed that they were ministering them not for themselves, but for you,

... which things now were declared to you through the ones having announced-the-good-news-to you by the Holy Spirit having been sent-forth from heaven, into which things angels desire to look.

In Light of What God Has Done:

13 Therefore:

Put Your Hope Completely Upon Your Coming Salvation

Having girded-up the waist of your minds[o], being sober[p]— put-your-hope completely[q] upon the grace being brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Be Holy In All Your Conduct

14 As children of [r] obedience not being conformed[s] to the former desires in-connection-with your ignorance, 15 but in accordance with the holy One having called you— be holy yourselves also in all your conduct[t]. 16 Because it has been written that “You shall be holy, because I am holy” [Lev 19:2].

Live Out Your Days In The Fear of God

17 And if you are calling-upon as Father the One judging without-respect-of-persons according to the work of each person— conduct the time of your stay[u] with fear[v], 18 knowing that you were redeemed from your futile[w] way-of-life handed-down-from-your-fathers not with perishable things, silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without-blemish and without-spot; 20 He having been foreknown before the foundation of the world but having appeared[x] at the last of times for your sake, 21 the believers through Him in God— the One having raised Him from the dead and having given Him glory— so that your faith and hope are in God.

Love One Another From a Pure Heart

22 Having purified your souls in[y] obedience of the truth for a sincere[z] brotherly-love— love one another fervently from a pure heart, 23 having been born-again not from perishable seed but imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God. 24 Because “All flesh is like grass and all its glory like a flower of grass. The grass was dried-up and the flower fell-off. 25 But the word of the Lord abides forever” [Isa 40:6-8]— and this is the word having been announced-as-good-news to you.

Shimon Kefa a Shliach of Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach Yehoshua to HaBechirim (the Chosen ones [2:4,6 9]), to the Exiled ones of the Golus, Sojourners living as aliens in the Diaspora, scattered in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

To HaBechirim (the Chosen ones) according to the yedi’ah mukdemet (foreknowledge [1:20]) of Elohim Avinu, the ones set apart as Kadoshim by the Ruach Hakodesh, resulting in mishma’at (obedience [1:14,22; 3:6; 4:17]) to the Moshiach and resulting in hazzayat HaDam HaMoshiach (sprinkling of the Blood of Moshiach Isa 52:15, Ex 24:7), of Moshiach Yehoshua. May Chen v’Chesed Hashem and Shalom Hashem abound to all of you!

Baruch Hashem, HaElohim Avi of Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach Adoneinu Yehoshua! By his great rachamim (mercy) we have been born anew to a tikvah chayyah (living hope) through the Techiyas Yehoshua from HaMesim (the dead ones).

We have also been born anew to a nachalah (inheritance [3:9]) that is without shachat (corruption, decay Ps 16:10), undefiled and unfading, having been preserved in Shomayim for you,

The ones by the koach of Hashem being guarded through Emunah (Faith) for Yeshu’at Eloheinu (the Salvation of our G-d), which is ready to be revealed at the Ketz Hayamim (End of Days).

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have to suffer in various masot (trials, temptations [4:12]),

That the genuineness of your Emunah, much more valuable than gold which though perishable is tested by Eish (Fire), may be found to the tehillah (praise) and the kavod (glory) and the tiferet (splendor) at the Hisgalus (Revelation, Apocalypse) of Moshiach Yehoshua.

He is the one for whom you have ahavah, even though you have not seen him. Though you do not now see him, you have emunah in him [as Moshiach] and rejoice with simcha inexpressible and full of kavod,

Obtaining the maskana (outcome) of your Emunah, the Yeshu’at Eloheynu of your nefashot (souls).

10 The Nevi’im, who prophesied of the Chen v’Chesed Hashem that was to come to you, searched and inquired about this Yeshu’at Eloheynu.

11 The Nevi’im were searching for what zman (time) or what context of occasion the Ruach of Moshiach in them was pointing to, when predicting the Chevlei Moshiach and HaKavod to follow.

12 The hisgalus (revelation) came to the Nevi’im that the avodas hakodesh ministry they were rendering was not to themselves, but to you, when they spoke of the things announced to you through the Mevaserim (Messianic Darshanim, Maggidim) of the Besuras HaGeulah by the Ruach Hakodesh sent from Shomayim, the very things even malachim desire to look into.

13 Therefore, tighten the "readiness" gartel of your mind, a mind that is one of kibush hayetzer (self-control). Set your tikvah completely on the Chen v’Chesed Hashem that is being brought to you at the Hisgalus (Revelation, Apocalypse) of Moshiach Yehoshua.

14 As Bnei Mishma’at (Children of Obedience 1:2), not conforming yourselves to your former ta’avot (lusts), when you lacked da’as (personal, saving knowledge),

15 But, als (since) the One who bestows on you the kri’ah (calling) is KADOSH HU (TEHILLIM 99:5), so also yourselves become Kadoshim in hitnahagut (conduct),

16 Because it says in the Torah, KEDOSHIM TIH’YU KI KADOSH ANI ("You must be holy ones for I am holy" VAYIKRA 19:2).

17 And if you call upon as "Avinu" [Mt.6:9] the One who is the impartial Shofet (Shofet kol ha’aretz) of each man L’ISH K’MA’ASEIHU ("To each according to his deeds" TEHILLIM 62:13), then conduct yourself with yirat Shomayim during your time in the Golus of the Olam Hazeh,

18 Having da’as that the padut nafsheynu (redemption ransom of our souls) was not with perishable things such as silver or gold when your Geulah (Redemption) was purchased from the Derech HaHevel (empty way of life) handed down to you from your Avot.

19 No, it was the precious DAHM (VAYIKRA 17:11) as of a SEH TAMIM U’MUM ("lamb unblemished and unspotted” SHEMOT 12:5; VAYIKRA 22:20; YESHAYAH 53:7,9), the DAHM of Moshiach (Mt.26:28)

20 Who, on the one hand, having been foreknown lifnei hivvased tevel (before the foundation of the world), but, on the other hand, having been manifested [5:4] at the Ketz Hayamim (End of Days) because of you.

21 Through him [Moshiach] you have emunah in Hashem, the One who brought forth the Techiyas HaMoshiach from HaMesim (the dead ones) and gave him Kavod. And so your emunah and your tikvah [1:13] are in Hashem.

22 Having purified your nefashot (souls) by mishma’at (obedience 1:2) to HaEmes, resulting in ahavah shel achvah (brotherly love) without tzevi’ut (hypocrisy), have fervent ahavah (agape) for one another, from a lev tahor.

23 You have been given a new birth [Yn 3:3], not from perishable zerah (seed), but zerah that is without shachat (corruption TEHILLIM 16:10), through the Dvar Hashem who is Chai v’Nitzav l’Olam (living and remaining firm forever).

24 For, "All flesh is grass and all of [mankind’s] glory is like the flower: the grass withers, the flower falls,

25 But the Word of our G-d stands forever" YESHAYAH 40:6-8). And this is the Dvar proclaimed to you as the Besuras HaGeulah [in Moshiach]. [T.N. On the word mevaserim 1K 1:12 see Isaiah 40:9.]

Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ,(A)

To God’s elect,(B) exiles(C) scattered(D) throughout the provinces of Pontus,(E) Galatia,(F) Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia,(G) who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge(H) of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit,(I) to be obedient(J) to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with his blood:(K)

Grace and peace be yours in abundance.(L)

Praise to God for a Living Hope

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!(M) In his great mercy(N) he has given us new birth(O) into a living hope(P) through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,(Q) and into an inheritance(R) that can never perish, spoil or fade.(S) This inheritance is kept in heaven for you,(T) who through faith are shielded by God’s power(U) until the coming of the salvation(V) that is ready to be revealed(W) in the last time. In all this you greatly rejoice,(X) though now for a little while(Y) you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.(Z) These have come so that the proven genuineness(AA) of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire(AB)—may result in praise, glory and honor(AC) when Jesus Christ is revealed.(AD) Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him(AE) and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.(AF)

10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke(AG) of the grace that was to come to you,(AH) searched intently and with the greatest care,(AI) 11 trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ(AJ) in them was pointing when he predicted(AK) the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow. 12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you,(AL) when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you(AM) by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven.(AN) Even angels long to look into these things.

Be Holy

13 Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober,(AO) set your hope(AP) on the grace to be brought to you(AQ) when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming.(AR) 14 As obedient(AS) children, do not conform(AT) to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.(AU) 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;(AV) 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”[a](AW)

17 Since you call on a Father(AX) who judges each person’s work(AY) impartially,(AZ) live out your time as foreigners(BA) here in reverent fear.(BB) 18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed(BC) from the empty way of life(BD) handed down to you from your ancestors, 19 but with the precious blood(BE) of Christ, a lamb(BF) without blemish or defect.(BG) 20 He was chosen before the creation of the world,(BH) but was revealed in these last times(BI) for your sake. 21 Through him you believe in God,(BJ) who raised him from the dead(BK) and glorified him,(BL) and so your faith and hope(BM) are in God.

22 Now that you have purified(BN) yourselves by obeying(BO) the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply,(BP) from the heart.[b] 23 For you have been born again,(BQ) not of perishable seed, but of imperishable,(BR) through the living and enduring word of God.(BS) 24 For,

“All people are like grass,
    and all their glory is like the flowers of the field;
the grass withers and the flowers fall,
25     but the word of the Lord endures forever.”[c](BT)

And this is the word that was preached to you.

Salutation

  2. 1.1 Cinq provinces d’Asie Mineure (l’actuelle Turquie).
  9. 1.20 Autre traduction : Il l’avait connu d’avance.
  10. 1.22 Certains manuscrits précisent : par l’Esprit.
  11. 1.22 Certains manuscrits ont : d’un cœur pur.
  12. 1.25 Es 40.6-8.
