信的人得享安息
4 因此，上帝既然仍旧应许让人进入祂的安息，我们就该战战兢兢，免得有人失去这福分。 2 因为我们和他们一样听到了福音，只是他们听了道后没有凭信心领受，结果没有得到益处。 3 正如上帝曾说：
“我在愤怒中起誓说，
‘他们绝不可进入我的安息。’”
但我们这些已经信的人能够进入祂的安息。其实造物之工自创世以来就已经完成了， 4 因为圣经论到第七日时说：“第七日，上帝歇了一切的工。” 5 又说：“他们绝不可进入我的安息。” 6 既然最终会有人进入安息，而那些从前听过福音的人因为不信没能进去， 7 上帝就另定了一个日子，称之为“今日”。正如多年后，祂借着大卫说：
“你们今日若听见祂的声音，
不可心里顽固。”
8 如果当初约书亚已经让他们得到了安息，上帝就不必另定一个日子了。 9 这样说来，必定另有一个安息日为上帝的子民存留，使他们可以真正安歇。 10 因为人进入上帝的安息，就是歇了自己的工作，好像上帝歇了祂的工作一样。 11 因此，我们要竭力进入那安息，免得重蹈他们的覆辙，因不顺服而倒毙。
12 上帝的话有生命、有功效，锋利无比，胜过一切两刃的利剑，甚至能够剌入并分开魂与灵、关节与骨髓，辨明人一切的思想和动机。 13 受造物在上帝面前都无法隐藏，因为万物都是赤裸裸地暴露在上帝眼前，我们必须向祂交账。

14 我们既然有一位已经升上高天的尊贵大祭司——上帝的儿子耶稣，就应当持守我们所认定的信仰。 15 因为我们这位大祭司并非不能体恤我们的软弱，祂与我们一样曾经面对各样的试探，却从来没有犯罪。 16 所以，让我们坦然无惧地到祂赐恩的宝座前，好领受怜悯和恩典，作随时的帮助。

The Sabbath Rest. 1 Therefore, let us be on our guard while the promise of entering into his rest remains, that none of you seem to have failed. 2 For in fact we have received the good news just as they did. But the word that they heard did not profit them, for they were not united in faith with those who listened. 3 For we who believed enter into [that] rest, just as he has said:(A)
“As I swore in my wrath,
‘They shall not enter into my rest,’”
and yet his works were accomplished at the foundation of the world. 4 For he has spoken somewhere about the seventh day in this manner, “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works”;(B) 5 and again, in the previously mentioned place, “They shall not enter into my rest.”(C) 6 Therefore, since it remains that some will enter into it, and those who formerly received the good news did not enter because of disobedience, 7 he once more set a day, “today,” when long afterwards he spoke through David, as already quoted:(D)
“Oh, that today you would hear his voice:
‘Harden not your hearts.’”
8 Now if Joshua had given them rest, he would not have spoken afterwards of another day.(E) 9 Therefore, a sabbath rest still remains for the people of God. 10 And whoever enters into God’s rest, rests from his own works as God did from his. 11 Therefore, let us strive to enter into that rest, so that no one may fall after the same example of disobedience.
12 Indeed, the word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating even between soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart.(F) 13 No creature is concealed from him, but everything is naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must render an account.(G)
Jesus, Compassionate High Priest. 14 [a]Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast to our confession.(H) 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has similarly been tested in every way, yet without sin.(I) 16 So let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and to find grace for timely help.(J)

- 4:14–16 These verses, which return to the theme first sounded in Hb 2:16–3:1, serve as an introduction to the section that follows. The author here alone calls Jesus a great high priest (Hb 4:14), a designation used by Philo for the Logos; perhaps he does so in order to emphasize Jesus’ superiority over the Jewish high priest. He has been tested in every way, yet without sin (Hb 4:15); this indicates an acquaintance with the tradition of Jesus’ temptations, not only at the beginning (as in Mk 1:13) but throughout his public life (cf. Lk 22:28). Although the reign of the exalted Jesus is a theme that occurs elsewhere in Hebrews, and Jesus’ throne is mentioned in Hb 1:8, the throne of grace (Hb 4:16) refers to the throne of God. The similarity of Hb 4:16 to Hb 10:19–22 indicates that the author is thinking of our confident access to God, made possible by the priestly work of Jesus.

8 Vì nếu Giô-suê đã đưa họ vào nơi nghỉ ngơi rồi thì Ngài đã không nói về một ngày khác nữa. 9 Cho nên một ngày Sa-bát để nghỉ vẫn còn đó cho con dân của Ðức Chúa Trời. 10 Vì người nào đã vào nơi nghỉ ngơi của Ngài thì nghỉ làm công việc của mình, cũng như Ðức Chúa Trời đã nghỉ làm công việc của Ngài vậy. 11 Thế thì chúng ta hãy cố gắng vào nơi nghỉ ngơi đó, kẻo có ai bị ngã xuống vì theo gương những người không vâng lời chăng.
12 Vì lời Ðức Chúa Trời là sống và linh nghiệm, sắc bén hơn mọi gươm hai lưỡi, xuyên thấu vào đến nỗi có thể chia hồn và linh, khớp và tủy, phân biệt những tư tưởng và ý định trong lòng. 13 Không vật thọ tạo nào có thể che giấu được trước thánh nhan Ngài, nhưng tất cả đều trần trụi và bị phơi bày ra trước mắt Ngài là Ðấng chúng ta phải khai trình.
Ðức Chúa Jesus Là Vị Thượng Tế
14 Thế thì chúng ta có một Vị Thượng Tế vĩ đại, Ðấng đã vượt qua các từng trời, là Ðức Chúa Jesus Con Ðức Chúa Trời, nên chúng ta hãy giữ vững những điều chúng ta đã tuyên xưng. 15 Vì chúng ta không có một Vị Thượng Tế không thể cảm thương những yếu đuối của chúng ta, nhưng có một Vị Thượng Tế đã bị cám dỗ mọi phương diện, giống như chúng ta, nhưng chẳng phạm tội. 16 Vậy chúng ta hãy dạn dĩ đến gần ngai ân sủng, để có thể nhận được ơn thương xót và tìm được ân sủng, hầu giúp chúng ta trong lúc cần.

A Sabbath-Rest for the People of God
4 Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it.(A) 2 For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed.[a](B) 3 Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said,
And yet his works have been finished since the creation of the world. 4 For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in these words: “On the seventh day God rested from all his works.”[c](D) 5 And again in the passage above he says, “They shall never enter my rest.”(E)
6 Therefore since it still remains for some to enter that rest, and since those who formerly had the good news proclaimed to them did not go in because of their disobedience,(F) 7 God again set a certain day, calling it “Today.” This he did when a long time later he spoke through David, as in the passage already quoted:
8 For if Joshua had given them rest,(H) God would not have spoken(I) later about another day. 9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works,[e](J) just as God did from his.(K) 11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.(L)
12 For the word of God(M) is alive(N) and active.(O) Sharper than any double-edged sword,(P) it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.(Q) 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight.(R) Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
Jesus the Great High Priest
14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest(S) who has ascended into heaven,[f](T) Jesus the Son of God,(U) let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.(V) 15 For we do not have a high priest(W) who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are(X)—yet he did not sin.(Y) 16 Let us then approach(Z) God’s throne of grace with confidence,(AA) so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
