更美之約的大祭司
8 我們所講的要點是：我們有這樣一位大祭司，祂現在已經坐在天上至高上帝的寶座右邊， 2 並在聖所裡供職。這聖所就是真正的聖幕，不是人建立的，而是主親手建立的。 3 所有的大祭司都是為了向上帝獻禮物和祭物而設立的，因此我們這位大祭司也必須有所獻上。 4 祂如果是在地上，根本不會做祭司，因為地上已經有照律法向上帝獻禮物的祭司了。 5 這些祭司的事奉都是仿效和反映天上的事，正如摩西建聖幕的時候，上帝指示他說：
「你務要照著在山上指示你的樣式造各樣的器具。」
6 但如今，基督得到了一個更超越的職任，正如祂擔任了更美之約的中保，這約是根據更美的應許所立的。 7 因為如果第一個約沒有缺點，就不必另立新約了。 8 然而，上帝指責祂的百姓，說：
「看啊，時候將到，

因為他們不持守我的約，
所以我不再理會他們。
這是主說的。
10 主又說，那些日子以後，

我要作他們的上帝，
他們要作我的子民。
11 誰都無需再教導自己的鄰居和弟兄，
說，『你要認識主。』
因為他們無論尊卑都必認識我。
12 我要赦免他們的過犯，
忘掉他們的罪惡。」
13 上帝既然說要立新約，就是把以前的約當作舊的了，那漸漸過時、陳舊的東西很快就會消失。

Mediator of a Better Covenant
8 Now the main point in what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, 2 a minister in the sanctuary and the true tent[a] that the Lord, and not any mortal, has set up. 3 For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices; hence it is necessary for this priest also to have something to offer. 4 Now if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, since there are priests who offer gifts according to the law. 5 They offer worship in a sanctuary that is a sketch and shadow of the heavenly one; for Moses, when he was about to erect the tent,[b] was warned, “See that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown you on the mountain.” 6 But Jesus[c] has now obtained a more excellent ministry, and to that degree he is the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted through better promises. 7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no need to look for a second one.
8 God[d] finds fault with them when he says:
“The days are surely coming, says the Lord,
when I will establish a new covenant with the house of Israel
and with the house of Judah;
9 not like the covenant that I made with their ancestors,
on the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt;
for they did not continue in my covenant,
and so I had no concern for them, says the Lord.
10 This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel
after those days, says the Lord:
I will put my laws in their minds,
and write them on their hearts,
and I will be their God,
and they shall be my people.
11 And they shall not teach one another
or say to each other, ‘Know the Lord,’
for they shall all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest.
12 For I will be merciful toward their iniquities,
and I will remember their sins no more.”
13 In speaking of “a new covenant,” he has made the first one obsolete. And what is obsolete and growing old will soon disappear.

Jezus' offer is beter dan de offers van het oude verbond
8 Waar het om gaat is dit: wij hebben een Hogepriester die in de hemel naast God op de troon zit. 2 Daar dient Hij God in het heiligdom, in de echte hemelse tent van het verbond. Die tent is door de Heer gebouwd en niet door mensen.
3 De taak van elke hogepriester is om offers te brengen. Daarom moest ook deze Hogepriester een offer brengen. 4 Op aarde zou Hij trouwens niet eens priester zijn. Want er zijn hier al priesters om volgens de regels van de wet van Mozes offers te brengen. 5 Deze priesters doen dat in een heiligdom dat een afbeelding en een schaduw is van het echte hemelse heiligdom. Dat weten we doordat God tegen Mozes heeft gezegd: "Let op, Mozes, dat je de hele tent van ontmoeting precies maakt zoals Ik je op de berg heb laten zien." 6 Maar Jezus kreeg een veel belangrijker taak dan de priesters, omdat het verbond dat Hij ging sluiten een veel beter verbond is. Dat verbond is beter, omdat er betere beloften bij horen.
7 Als het eerste verbond volmaakt was geweest, had er geen tweede verbond gesloten hoeven worden. 8 Maar Hij heeft tegen de Israëlieten gezegd: "Op een dag, zegt de Heer, zal Ik met het koninkrijk Israël en met het koninkrijk Juda een nieuw verbond sluiten. 9 Het zal een ander verbond zijn dan het verbond dat Ik met hun voorouders heb gesloten. Dat was toen Ik hen bij de hand nam en uit Egypte bevrijdde. Maar zij hebben zich niet aan dat verbond gehouden. Daarom wilde Ik niet meer voor hen zorgen. 10 Maar het nieuwe verbond dat Ik later zal sluiten, zal anders zijn: Ik zal mijn wet niet meer in steen, maar in hun binnenste schrijven, in hun hart en in hun verstand. Ik zal hun God zijn en zij zullen mijn volk zijn. 11 Dan zullen ze elkaar niet meer hoeven te leren wie Ik ben. Want iedereen, van hoog tot laag, zal Mij kennen. 12 Ik zal al hun ongehoorzaamheid vergeven. Ik zal er zelfs niet meer aan denken."[a] 13 Als God spreekt over een nieuw verbond, houdt dat in dat het oude verbond verouderd is. En iets wat verouderd is en niet meer geldig is, wordt afgedankt.

Ichi ndi chifukwa chake Mose anachenjezedwa pamene anali pafupi kumanga Tenti: “Uwonetsetse kuti wapanga zonse monga momwe ndikukuonetsera pa phiri pano.” 6 Koma Yesu analandira utumiki wopambana kuposa wawo monga Iyenso ali Nkhoswe ya pangano lopambana kuposa lakale lija, chifukwa pangano latsopano lakhazikika pa malonjezano opambana kwambiri.
7 Ngati pangano loyamba lija likanakhala langwiro, sipakanafunikanso lina mʼmalo mwake. 8 Koma Mulungu anapeza zolakwika pakati pa anthu ndipo anati,
“Masiku akubwera,” akutero Yehova,
“pamene ndidzachita pangano latsopano
ndi Aisraeli
ndiponso nyumba ya Yuda.
9 Silidzakhala ngati pangano
limene ndinachita ndi makolo awo,
pamene ndinawagwira padzanja
nʼkuwatulutsa ku Igupto
chifukwa iwo sanasunge pangano langa lija
ndipo Ine sindinawasamalire,
akutero Ambuye.
10 Tsono ili ndi pangano ndidzapangane ndi nyumba ya Israeli:
Atapita masiku amenewa, akutero Ambuye,
Ine ndidzayika malamulo anga mʼmaganizo mwawo,
ndi kulemba mʼmitima mwawo.
Ine ndidzakhala Mulungu wawo,
ndipo iwo adzakhala anthu anga.
11 Sipadzafunikanso wina kuti aphunzitse mnzake,
kapena munthu kuphunzitsa mʼbale wake, kunena kuti, udziwe Ambuye
chifukwa onse adzandidziwa,
kuyambira wamngʼono mpaka wamkulu.
12 Pakuti Ine ndidzawakhululukira zoyipa zawo,
ndipo sindidzakumbukiranso machimo awo.”
13 Ponena kuti, pangano “latsopano” Mulungu wapanga pangano loyamba lija kukhala lotha ntchito, ndipo chilichonse chimene chayamba kutha ntchito ndi kukalamba, chili pafupi kuchokeratu.

The High Priest of a New Covenant
8 Now the main point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest,(A) who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven,(B) 2 and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle(C) set up by the Lord, not by a mere human being.
3 Every high priest(D) is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices,(E) and so it was necessary for this one also to have something to offer.(F) 4 If he were on earth, he would not be a priest, for there are already priests who offer the gifts prescribed by the law.(G) 5 They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy(H) and shadow(I) of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned(J) when he was about to build the tabernacle: “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.”[a](K) 6 But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant(L) of which he is mediator(M) is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises.
7 For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another.(N) 8 But God found fault with the people and said[b]:
“The days are coming, declares the Lord,
when I will make a new covenant(O)
with the people of Israel
and with the people of Judah.
9 It will not be like the covenant
I made with their ancestors(P)
when I took them by the hand
to lead them out of Egypt,
because they did not remain faithful to my covenant,
and I turned away from them,
declares the Lord.
10 This is the covenant(Q) I will establish with the people of Israel
after that time, declares the Lord.
I will put my laws in their minds
and write them on their hearts.(R)
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.(S)
11 No longer will they teach their neighbor,
or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’
because they will all know me,(T)
from the least of them to the greatest.
12 For I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more.(U)”[c](V)
13 By calling this covenant “new,”(W) he has made the first one obsolete;(X) and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.
