警告離棄正道

所以,讓我們從基督話語的基本原則出發[a],被神[b]帶到那成熟的境界;而不用重新打基礎,就如悔改那些致死的行為、對神的信仰、 各樣的洗淨禮、按手禮、死人復活、永遠的懲罰等教導上。 神如果准許,我們就這麼做。

原來,如果有人蒙過一次光照、嘗過屬天恩賜的滋味、曾經與聖靈有份、 嘗過神美善的話語和將要來臨之世代的權能, 卻背棄了真理,就不可能再次更新以至於悔改了。因為他們親自把神的兒子再次釘上十字架,公然羞辱他。 要知道,當一塊田地吸收了常常降在它上面的雨水,並且為種地的人長出有用菜蔬時,它就享受從神而來的祝福; 但如果它長出荊棘和蒺藜,就沒有用處了,很快就要被詛咒,它的結局就是被焚燒。

各位蒙愛的人哪,我們即使這樣說,還是深信那關於你們的更好之事,並且是有關救恩的, 10 因為神不是不公正的,以致忘記你們的工作和你們為他的名所顯出的愛,就是你們先前和如今服事聖徒時所顯出的愛[c] 11 我們渴望你們每個人都顯出同樣的殷勤,使你們對所盼望的有完全的確信,一直到底; 12 這樣,你們就不會變得懈怠,反而會效法那些藉著信仰和耐心去繼承各樣應許的人。

承受應許

13 神向亞伯拉罕應許的時候,因為沒有比自己[d]更大的可以指著起誓,就指著自己起誓, 14 說:

「我必定大大賜福給你,
多多地增加你的子孫[e]。」[f]

15 這樣,亞伯拉罕恆久忍耐,就獲得了神所應許的。 16 人本來指著比自己[g]更大的起誓;對他們,所起的誓就是了結一切爭執的確據; 17 為此,神想要對那些繼承應許的人格外表明他的計劃是不能更改的,就用所起的誓來保證。 18 藉著這兩件不能更改的事——在這些事上,神不可能說謊——使我們這些逃往避難所、抓住那擺在前面盼望的人,可以得到極大的鼓勵。 19 我們所擁有的這盼望,像靈魂[h]的錨,又可靠又堅固,並且進到幔子最裡層的那至聖所[i] 20 耶穌已經為我們做先鋒進入了那裡,照著麥基洗德的等級[j]做大祭司,直到永遠。

Therefore let us move beyond(A) the elementary teachings(B) about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death,[a](C) and of faith in God, instruction about cleansing rites,[b](D) the laying on of hands,(E) the resurrection of the dead,(F) and eternal judgment. And God permitting,(G) we will do so.

It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened,(H) who have tasted the heavenly gift,(I) who have shared in the Holy Spirit,(J) who have tasted the goodness(K) of the word of God(L) and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen[c] away, to be brought back to repentance.(M) To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God(N) all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed.(O) In the end it will be burned.

Even though we speak like this, dear friends,(P) we are convinced of better things in your case—the things that have to do with salvation. 10 God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.(Q) 11 We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope(R) for may be fully realized. 12 We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate(S) those who through faith and patience(T) inherit what has been promised.(U)

The Certainty of God’s Promise

13 When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself,(V) 14 saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.”[d](W) 15 And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.(X)

16 People swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument.(Y) 17 Because God wanted to make the unchanging(Z) nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised,(AA) he confirmed it with an oath. 18 God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie,(AB) we who have fled to take hold of the hope(AC) set before us may be greatly encouraged. 19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain,(AD) 20 where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf.(AE) He has become a high priest(AF) forever, in the order of Melchizedek.(AG)

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

And this will we do, if God permit.

For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:

But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.

But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.

10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:

12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,

14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.

15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

16 For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife.

17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:

18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;

20 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

Por tanto, dejando(A) las enseñanzas elementales[a](B) acerca de Cristo[b], avancemos hacia la madurez(C), no echando otra vez el fundamento del arrepentimiento de obras muertas(D) y de la fe en Dios, de la enseñanza sobre lavamientos[c](E), de la imposición de manos(F), de la resurrección de los muertos(G) y del juicio eterno(H). Y esto haremos, si Dios lo permite(I).

Porque en el caso de los que fueron una vez iluminados(J), que probaron del don celestial(K) y fueron hechos partícipes del Espíritu Santo(L), que gustaron(M) la buena palabra de Dios(N) y los poderes del siglo venidero(O), pero después cayeron, es imposible renovarlos otra vez(P) para arrepentimiento, puesto que de nuevo crucifican para sí mismos al Hijo de Dios(Q) y lo exponen a la ignominia pública.

Porque la tierra que bebe la lluvia que con frecuencia cae[d] sobre ella y produce vegetación útil a aquellos por los cuales es cultivada(R), recibe bendición de Dios. Pero si produce espinos y cardos no vale nada, está próxima a ser maldecida[e](S), y termina por ser quemada[f].

Esperanza de cosas mejores

Pero en cuanto a ustedes, amados(T), aunque hablemos de esta manera, estamos persuadidos de las cosas que son mejores y que pertenecen a la salvación. 10 Porque Dios no es injusto(U) como para olvidarse de la obra de ustedes y del amor(V) que han mostrado hacia Su nombre, habiendo servido, y sirviendo aún, a los santos(W). 11 Pero deseamos que cada uno de ustedes muestre la misma solicitud hasta el fin(X), para alcanzar la plena seguridad(Y) de la esperanza, 12 a fin de que no sean perezosos, sino imitadores(Z) de los que mediante la fe y la paciencia(AA) heredan las promesas(AB).

La promesa de Dios es segura

13 Pues cuando Dios hizo la promesa a Abraham(AC), no pudiendo jurar por uno mayor, juró por Él mismo(AD), 14 diciendo: «Ciertamente te bendeciré y ciertamente te multiplicaré(AE)». 15 Y así, habiendo esperado con paciencia(AF), Abraham obtuvo la promesa. 16 Porque los hombres juran por uno mayor que ellos mismos(AG), y para ellos un juramento dado como confirmación es el fin de toda discusión(AH).

17 Por lo cual[g] Dios, deseando mostrar más plenamente a los herederos de la promesa(AI) la inmutabilidad de Su propósito(AJ), interpuso[h] un juramento, 18 a fin de que por dos cosas inmutables, en las cuales es imposible que Dios mienta(AK), los que hemos buscado refugio seamos grandemente animados[i] para asirnos de la esperanza puesta delante de nosotros(AL).

19 Tenemos como ancla del alma, una esperanza(AM) segura y firme, y que penetra hasta detrás[j] del velo(AN), 20 adonde Jesús entró por nosotros(AO) como precursor, hecho, según el orden de Melquisedec(AP), Sumo Sacerdote para siempre.
