⁸食物不能使我们更接近上帝。不吃，我们不会更坏，吃了，也不会使我们更好。

⁹但是，你们要小心，不要让你们的自由使信仰弱的人犯罪。 ¹⁰你们有知识，所以在偶像的大殿里可以坦然地吃东西。但是，信仰不坚定的人看到你们在那里吃东西，岂不等于鼓励他去吃祭偶像的食物吗？但实际上他却认为这是错误的。

⁸其實食物並不能改變上帝對我們的看法，我們不吃也沒有損失，吃了也不會更好。

⁹但你們要小心，不要讓你們的自由絆倒那些信心軟弱的人。 ¹⁰如果有人看見你這明白以上道理的人竟然坐在偶像的廟中吃喝，他雖然良心不安，豈不還是會放膽吃獻給偶像的祭物嗎？

⁸But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.

⁹But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.

¹⁰For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;

⁸But food does not bring us near to God;^(A) we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do.

⁹Be careful, however, that the exercise of your rights does not become a stumbling block^(B) to the weak.^(C) ¹⁰For if someone with a weak conscience sees you, with all your knowledge, eating in an idol’s temple, won’t that person be emboldened to eat what is sacrificed to idols?^(D)
