20 Jeg så nu en engel komme ned fra Himlen. Han havde nøglen til afgrunden i hånden, og han bar på en tung jernlænke. 2 Han greb fat i dragen, den gamle Slange, som er Djævelen og Satan, lænkede ham og smed ham i afgrunden, hvor han skulle være i 1000 år. 3 Hullet over afgrunden blev forsvarligt lukket og forseglet, så han ikke mere kunne vildlede nationerne. Når de 1000 år er forbi, skal han efter Guds plan slippes løs for en kort tid.
4 Derefter så jeg en masse troner, og nogle, der satte sig på tronerne.[a] De fik magt til at afsige domme. Jeg så også sjælene af alle dem, som var blevet henrettet, fordi de havde været tro over for Jesus og havde holdt fast ved Guds ord. De havde ikke bøjet sig i hyldest til uhyret eller dets statue, og de havde ikke taget imod uhyrets mærke på panden eller hånden. De blev nu levende for at regere sammen med Kristus i 1000 år. 5 Det er den første genopstandelse. (De andre døde blev ikke levende, før de 1000 år var gået). 6 Velsignede og hellige er de, der kommer med i den første genopstandelse. Dem har den anden død ingen magt over. De skal være præster for Gud og Kristus, og de skal regere sammen med ham i 1000 år.
Satan løslades efter 1000 år, men besejres
7 Når de 1000 år er forbi, skal Satan lukkes ud af sit fængsel, 8 og han vil tage ud til alle nationer i hele verden, især Gog og Magog, for at overtale dem til at hjælpe ham i den forestående krig. Jeg så ham samle soldater så talrige som havets sand. 9 Hærene drog frem over jorden og omringede den elskede by, hvor Guds folk havde forskanset sig. Men så kom der ild ned fra Himlen og fortærede dem. 10 Djævelen, som havde vildledt dem, blev kastet i søen med brændende svovl, hvor uhyret og den falske profet allerede var. Der skal de pines dag og nat i al evighed.
Verdensdommen og den anden død
11 Derefter så jeg en stor, hvid trone og Gud selv, der sad på den. Jord og himmel flygtede for ham, men der var ingen steder, de kunne være. 12 Dernæst så jeg de døde stå foran tronen, både de rige og de fattige. Mange bøger blev åbnet, og en ganske særlig bog blev åbnet. Det var livets bog. De døde blev bedømt efter deres gerninger, i overensstemmelse med, hvad der stod i bøgerne. 13 Havet gav sine døde tilbage, og døden og dødsriget gav sine døde tilbage. Alle blev bedømt efter deres gerninger. 14 Døden og dødsriget blev kastet i ildsøen. Det er den anden død—ildsøen. 15 Alle, der ikke var skrevet op i livets bog, blev kastet i ildsøen.

The Thousand Years
20 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven,(A) having the key(B) to the Abyss(C) and holding in his hand a great chain. 2 He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan,(D) and bound him for a thousand years.(E) 3 He threw him into the Abyss,(F) and locked and sealed(G) it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations(H) anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.
4 I saw thrones(I) on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge.(J) And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded(K) because of their testimony about Jesus(L) and because of the word of God.(M) They[a] had not worshiped the beast(N) or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands.(O) They came to life and reigned(P) with Christ a thousand years. 5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection.(Q) 6 Blessed(R) and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death(S) has no power over them, but they will be priests(T) of God and of Christ and will reign with him(U) for a thousand years.
The Judgment of Satan
7 When the thousand years are over,(V) Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations(W) in the four corners of the earth(X)—Gog and Magog(Y)—and to gather them for battle.(Z) In number they are like the sand on the seashore.(AA) 9 They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded(AB) the camp of God’s people, the city he loves.(AC) But fire came down from heaven(AD) and devoured them. 10 And the devil, who deceived them,(AE) was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur,(AF) where the beast(AG) and the false prophet(AH) had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.(AI)
The Judgment of the Dead
11 Then I saw a great white throne(AJ) and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence,(AK) and there was no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small,(AL) standing before the throne, and books were opened.(AM) Another book was opened, which is the book of life.(AN) The dead were judged(AO) according to what they had done(AP) as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades(AQ) gave up the dead(AR) that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done.(AS) 14 Then death(AT) and Hades(AU) were thrown into the lake of fire.(AV) The lake of fire is the second death.(AW) 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life(AX) was thrown into the lake of fire.

3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Satan Bound 1,000 Years

The Saints Reign with Christ 1,000 Years
4 And I saw (E)thrones, and they sat on them, and (F)judgment was committed to them. Then I saw (G)the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, (H)who had not worshiped the beast (I)or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. Satanic Rebellion Crushed(O)

The Great White Throne Judgment

The Defeat of Satan

Judgment Before the Great White Throne
11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence (AC)earth and sky fled away, and (AD)no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and (AE)books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is (AF)the book of life. And (AG)the dead were judged by what was written in the books, (AH)according to what they had done. 13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, (AI)Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, (AJ)according to what they had done. 14 Then (AK)Death and Hades (AL)were thrown into the lake of fire.
