Reuben
5 The sons of Reuben(A) the firstborn of Israel (he was the firstborn, but when he defiled his father’s marriage bed,(B) his rights as firstborn were given to the sons of Joseph(C) son of Israel;(D) so he could not be listed in the genealogical record in accordance with his birthright,(E) 2 and though Judah(F) was the strongest of his brothers and a ruler(G) came from him, the rights of the firstborn(H) belonged to Joseph)— 3 the sons of Reuben(I) the firstborn of Israel:
Hanok, Pallu,(J) Hezron(K) and Karmi.
4 The descendants of Joel:
Shemaiah his son, Gog his son,
Shimei his son, 5 Micah his son,
Reaiah his son, Baal his son,
6 and Beerah his son, whom Tiglath-Pileser[a](L) king of Assyria took into exile. Beerah was a leader of the Reubenites.
7 Their relatives by clans,(M) listed according to their genealogical records:
Jeiel the chief, Zechariah, 8 and Bela son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel. They settled in the area from Aroer(N) to Nebo(O) and Baal Meon.(P) 9 To the east they occupied the land up to the edge of the desert that extends to the Euphrates(Q) River, because their livestock had increased in Gilead.(R)
10 During Saul’s reign they waged war against the Hagrites(S), who were defeated at their hands; they occupied the dwellings of the Hagrites throughout the entire region east of Gilead.
Gad
11 The Gadites(T) lived next to them in Bashan, as far as Salekah:(U)
12 Joel was the chief, Shapham the second, then Janai and Shaphat, in Bashan.
13 Their relatives, by families, were:
Michael, Meshullam, Sheba, Jorai, Jakan, Zia and Eber—seven in all.
14 These were the sons of Abihail son of Huri, the son of Jaroah, the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz.
15 Ahi son of Abdiel, the son of Guni, was head of their family.
16 The Gadites lived in Gilead, in Bashan and its outlying villages, and on all the pasturelands of Sharon as far as they extended.
17 All these were entered in the genealogical records during the reigns of Jotham(V) king of Judah and Jeroboam(W) king of Israel.
18 The Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh had 44,760 men ready for military service(X)—able-bodied men who could handle shield and sword, who could use a bow, and who were trained for battle. 19 They waged war against the Hagrites, Jetur,(Y) Naphish and Nodab. 20 They were helped(Z) in fighting them, and God delivered the Hagrites and all their allies into their hands, because they cried(AA) out to him during the battle. He answered their prayers, because they trusted(AB) in him. 21 They seized the livestock of the Hagrites—fifty thousand camels, two hundred fifty thousand sheep and two thousand donkeys. They also took one hundred thousand people captive, 22 and many others fell slain, because the battle(AC) was God’s. And they occupied the land until the exile.(AD)
The Half-Tribe of Manasseh
23 The people of the half-tribe of Manasseh(AE) were numerous; they settled in the land from Bashan to Baal Hermon, that is, to Senir (Mount Hermon).(AF)
24 These were the heads of their families: Epher, Ishi, Eliel, Azriel, Jeremiah, Hodaviah and Jahdiel. They were brave warriors, famous men, and heads of their families. 25 But they were unfaithful(AG) to the God of their ancestors and prostituted(AH) themselves to the gods of the peoples of the land, whom God had destroyed before them. 26 So the God of Israel stirred up the spirit(AI) of Pul(AJ) king of Assyria (that is, Tiglath-Pileser(AK) king of Assyria), who took the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh into exile. He took them to Halah,(AL) Habor, Hara and the river of Gozan, where they are to this day.

5 Ruben était le premier-né d’Israël, mais parce qu’il avait eu des relations sexuelles avec l’une des femmes de son père, son droit d’aînesse fut donné aux fils de Joseph, fils d’Israël ; ainsi Ruben ne fut pas recensé comme l’aîné[a]. 2 Juda fut puissant parmi ses frères, et de lui est issu le prince d’Israël, mais le droit d’aînesse appartenait à Joseph[b].
3 Fils de Ruben, premier-né d’Israël : Hénok, Pallou, Hetsrôn et Karmi. 4 Descendants de Joël, de père en fils : Shemaya, Gog, Shimeï ; 5 Michée, Reaya, Baal, 6 Beéra, un chef des Rubénites que Tiglath-Piléser[c], roi d’Assyrie, emmena en captivité[d]. 7 Les hommes apparentés à Beéra, cités par familles selon leurs listes généalogiques sont : le chef Yeïel, Zacharie, 8 Béla, fils d’Azaz, petit-fils de Shéma, le fils de Joël. Ces hommes habitaient à Aroër et dans le territoire qui va jusqu’au mont Nébo et Baal-Meôn. 9 A l’est, ils s’étaient implantés jusqu’à l’entrée du désert qui s’étend jusqu’à l’Euphrate, car leur cheptel était nombreux dans le pays de Galaad[e]. 10 Du temps de Saül, ils firent la guerre aux Agaréniens[f], qui furent vaincus par eux ; ils s’installèrent dans leurs habitations dans la partie orientale de Galaad.
Les descendants de Gad
11 Les descendants de Gad habitaient sur le plateau du Basan[g] et jusqu’à Salka. 12 Le groupe familial le plus important fut celui de Joël, puis, en deuxième, celui de Shapham, puis celui de Yaenaï et celui de Shaphath. 13 Il y avait à côté d’eux sept groupes familiaux : ceux de Michaël, Meshoullam, Shéba, Yoraï, Yaekan, Zia et Eber. 14 Ils étaient les fils d’Abihaïl, fils de Houri, dont les ascendants en ligne directe étaient Yaroah, Galaad, Michaël, Yeshishaï, Yahdo et Bouz. 15 Ahi, fils d’Abdiel et petit-fils de Gouni, était le chef de leurs groupes familiaux. 16 Ils habitaient en Galaad, en Basan et dans les localités qui en dépendent, ainsi que dans tous les pâturages du Sarôn jusqu’à leur extrême limite. 17 Ils furent tous recensés dans les généalogies, du temps de Yotam, roi de Juda, et du temps de Jéroboam, roi d’Israël[h].
18 Les membres des tribus de Ruben, de Gad et de la demi-tribu de Manassé avaient 44 760 hommes valeureux capables de manier le bouclier et l’épée, ou tirant à l’arc. Ils étaient exercés à la guerre et prêts à combattre. 19 Ils firent la guerre aux Agaréniens et à Yetour, Naphish et Nodab. 20 Dieu les secourut et leur donna la victoire sur les Agaréniens et tous leurs alliés, parce qu’ils l’en avaient imploré pendant la bataille. Il les exauça parce qu’ils lui avaient fait confiance. 21 Ils s’emparèrent de tout leur bétail, à savoir : 50 000 chameaux, 250 000 moutons et chèvres et 2 000 ânes ; de plus, ils firent 100 000 prisonniers. 22 Beaucoup d’ennemis furent aussi tués, car ce combat était entre les mains de Dieu. Ils s’installèrent à leur place et y demeurèrent jusqu’à l’exil.
Les descendants de Manassé
23 Les descendants de la demi-tribu de Manassé habitaient dans le pays qui allait du Basan à Baal-Hermon, Senir et la montagne de l’Hermon ; ils étaient nombreux. 24 Voici les noms des chefs de leurs groupes familiaux : Epher, Yisheï, Eliel, Azriel, Jérémie, Hodavia et Yahdiel ; ces chefs de leurs groupes familiaux étaient tous des hommes de guerre valeureux, des gens renommés.
25 Mais, par la suite, les descendants de ces tribus furent infidèles au Dieu de leurs ancêtres et se prostituèrent aux dieux des peuples du pays, que Dieu avait détruits devant eux.
26 C’est pourquoi le Dieu d’Israël incita le roi d’Assyrie Poul, c’est-à-dire Tiglath-Piléser[i] roi d’Assyrie, à déporter les membres des tribus de Ruben, de Gad et de la demi-tribu de Manassé : il les exila à Halah, Habor et Hara, et sur les rives du fleuve de Gozân, où ils sont demeurés jusqu’à ce jour[j].
Les descendants de Lévi
27 Fils de Lévi : Guershôn, Qehath et Merari. 28 Fils de Qehath : Amram, Yitsehar, Hébron et Ouzziel. 29 Enfants d’Amram : Aaron, Moïse et Miryam. Fils d’Aaron : Nadab, Abihou, Eléazar et Itamar. 30 Eléazar eut pour fils Phinéas dont les descendants en ligne directe de père en fils furent Abishoua, 31 Bouqqi, Ouzzi, 32 Zerahya, Merayoth, 33 Amaria, Ahitoub, 34 Tsadoq, Ahimaats, 35 Azaria, Yohanân, 36 Azaria qui exerça le sacerdoce dans le temple que Salomon avait bâti à Jérusalem. 37 Puis, toujours de père en fils : Amaria, Ahitoub, 38 Tsadoq, Shalloum, 39 Hilqiya, Azaria, 40 Seraya, Yehotsadaq. 41 Ce dernier partit en exil quand l’Eternel fit déporter la population de Juda et de Jérusalem par Nabuchodonosor.

Descendientes de Rubén
5 Los hijos de Rubén, el hijo mayor de Israel, fueron Hanoc, Falú, Hesrón y Carmí. Rubén era realmente el hijo mayor, pero perdió sus derechos de hijo mayor por haber abusado de la mujer de su padre, y esos derechos pasaron a los hijos de José, otro hijo de Israel. Sin embargo, después Judá llegó a ser más poderoso que sus hermanos, y de él salió un jefe; pero los derechos de hijo mayor eran de José.
4-6 Los descendientes de Joel, en línea directa, fueron Semaías, Gog, Simí, Micaías, Reaías, Baal y Beerá, jefe de los rubenitas, que fue llevado cautivo por Tiglat-piléser, rey de Asiria.
7 Los hermanos de Beerá, según el orden en que sus clanes fueron registrados, fueron Jeiel, el principal, Zacarías 8 y Bela, hijo de Azaz, nieto de Sema, el hijo de Joel. 11 Los descendientes de Gad que vivieron frente a los rubenitas, en la región de Basán, hasta la ciudad de Salcá, fueron 12 Joel, el principal, y después de él, Safán, luego Jaanai, y luego Safat. 13 Sus parientes, en orden de familias, fueron Micael, Mesulam, Sebá, Jorai, Jacán, Zía y Éber, siete en total. 14 Éstos fueron hijos de Abihail, quien fue hijo de Hurí, éste de Jaróah, éste de Galaad, éste de Micael, éste de Jesisai, éste de Jahdó, éste de Buz. 15 Ahí, hijo de Abdiel y nieto de Guní, fue el jefe de sus familias. 16 Todos ellos vivieron en Galaad, en Basán y en sus aldeas, y en los campos de pastoreo de Sarón, hasta sus límites. 17 Todos ellos fueron inscritos en el registro familiar en tiempos de Jotam, rey de Judá, y de Jeroboam, rey de Israel.
Historia de las dos tribus y media
18 Los descendientes de Rubén y de Gad, y la media tribu de Manasés, eran soldados valientes, armados de escudo, espada y arco, y bien entrenados para combatir. Eran cuarenta y cuatro mil setecientos sesenta hombres aptos para la guerra. 19 Y pelearon contra los agarenos, y contra Jetur, Nafís y Nodab; 20 pero Dios los ayudó, y los agarenos y sus aliados cayeron en sus manos, porque en medio de la batalla pidieron a Dios que los ayudara. Dios los ayudó porque confiaron en él. 21 Luego se llevaron los ganados de sus enemigos, que eran cincuenta mil camellos, doscientas cincuenta mil ovejas y dos mil asnos. Hicieron además cien mil prisioneros. 22 Muchos enemigos murieron, porque la guerra era de parte de Dios. Y se quedaron a vivir en aquellos lugares hasta la época del destierro.
23 Los descendientes de la media tribu de Manasés vivieron en la región que se extiende desde Basán hasta Baal-hermón, Senir y el monte Hermón, pues eran muchos. 24 Los jefes de sus familias fueron Éfer, Isí, Eliel, Azriel, Jeremías, Hodavías y Jahdiel, todos ellos soldados valientes, hombres famosos y jefes de familia. 25 Pero se rebelaron contra el Dios de sus antepasados y le fueron infieles adorando a los dioses de los pueblos que Dios había destruido y eliminado delante de ellos. 26 Por esta razón, el Dios de Israel incitó a Pul, rey de Asiria, es decir, a Tiglat-piléser, quien desterró a los rubenitas y gaditas y a la media tribu de Manasés; y los llevó a Halah, Habor, Hará y al río Gozán, donde están hasta el presente.

19 And they made war with the Hagarites, with Jetur, and Nephish, and Nodab.
20 And they were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered into their hand, and all that were with them: for they cried to God in the battle, and he was intreated of them; because they put their trust in him.
21 And they took away their cattle; of their camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred and fifty thousand, and of asses two thousand, and of men an hundred thousand.
22 For there fell down many slain, because the war was of God. And they dwelt in their steads until the captivity.
23 And the children of the half tribe of Manasseh dwelt in the land: they increased from Bashan unto Baalhermon and Senir, and unto mount Hermon.
24 And these were the heads of the house of their fathers, even Epher, and Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, mighty men of valour, famous men, and heads of the house of their fathers.
25 And they transgressed against the God of their fathers, and went a whoring after the gods of the people of the land, whom God destroyed before them.
26 And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgathpilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, and brought them unto Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river Gozan, unto this day.
