雅各到达舅父家
29 雅各继续前行，来到东方人住的地方， 2 看见田间有一口井，有三群羊卧在井边，因为当地人用那口井的水饮羊。井口盖着一块大石头。 3 羊群聚集在井旁的时候，牧人就把石头挪开饮羊，随后再把石头挪回原处。
4 雅各问牧人：“弟兄们，你们是从哪里来的？”他们说：“我们是从哈兰来的。” 5 雅各问道：“你们认识拿鹤的孙子拉班吗？”他们说：“我们认识。” 6 雅各又问：“他好吗？”他们回答说：“很好。你看，他的女儿拉结带着羊群来了。” 7 雅各对他们说：“太阳还高，不到把羊关起来的时候，你们饮了羊，再放它们去吃草吧！” 8 他们说：“不行，要等所有的羊群到齐，有人挪开井口的石头后，才能饮羊。”
9 他们还在说话的时候，拉结就带着她父亲的羊群来到井边，她是个牧羊女。 10 雅各看见表妹拉结和舅父拉班的羊群来了，就上前把井口的石头挪开，饮他舅父的羊。 11 他亲吻拉结，并放声大哭。 12 雅各告诉拉结自己是她父亲的外甥，是利百加的儿子。拉结便跑去告诉她父亲。
13 拉班听见外甥雅各来了，就跑去迎接他，拥抱他，亲吻他，然后把他接到自己家里。雅各把事情的经过告诉他。 14 拉班高兴地说：“你真是我的骨肉之亲啊！”雅各在拉班家里住了一个月。
雅各娶妻
15 一天，拉班对他说：“虽然我们是亲戚，也不能让你白白地替我工作。告诉我，你希望得到什么报酬？” 16 拉班有两个女儿，大的叫利亚，小的叫拉结。 17 利亚两眼无神[a]，而拉结长得美丽出众。 18 雅各爱上了拉结，于是对拉班说：“我愿意为你工作七年，请你把拉结许配给我。” 19 拉班说：“把她嫁给你比嫁给外人好，你就留下来吧！” 20 雅各为了拉结给拉班工作了七年。因为他深爱拉结，所以这七年在他眼中就像短短的几天。
21 一天，雅各对拉班说：“期限已经满了，现在请把我妻子给我，我好和她同房。” 22 于是，拉班就摆设宴席款待当地的人。 23 到了晚上，拉班却把女儿利亚送给雅各，雅各和她同房。 24 拉班又把自己的婢女悉帕送给女儿利亚做婢女。
25 第二天早上，雅各才发现娶的是利亚，就对拉班说：“你对我做的是什么事啊！我服侍你不就是为了拉结吗？你为什么骗我？” 26 拉班说：“依照本地的习俗，妹妹不能比姐姐先出嫁。 27 等这七天的婚期过了，我就把拉结也许配给你，你再替我工作七年。”
28 雅各同意了。过了七天，拉班把女儿拉结嫁给雅各， 29 又把自己的婢女辟拉送给拉结。 30 雅各也和拉结同房，他深爱拉结，胜过爱利亚。他又替拉班工作了七年。
雅各的儿女
31 耶和华看见利亚失宠，就使利亚生育，但拉结却不生育。 32 利亚怀孕生了一个儿子，给孩子取名叫吕便[b]。她说：“耶和华看见了我的痛苦，现在我丈夫一定会爱我。” 33 她又怀孕生了一个儿子，就说：“耶和华听见了我丈夫不爱我，所以又给我这个儿子。”于是，她给孩子取名叫西缅[c]。 34 她又再度怀孕，生了一个儿子，就说：“这次我丈夫一定会依恋我，因为我给他生了三个儿子。”于是，他给孩子取名叫利未[d]。 35 后来，利亚再次怀孕，生了一个儿子，她说：“这次我要赞美耶和华！”于是，她给孩子取名叫犹大[e]。之后，利亚停止了生育。

29 Then Jacob went on his journey, and came into the land of the people of the east.
2 And he looked, and behold a well in the field, and, lo, there were three flocks of sheep lying by it; for out of that well they watered the flocks: and a great stone was upon the well's mouth.
3 And thither were all the flocks gathered: and they rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the sheep, and put the stone again upon the well's mouth in his place.
4 And Jacob said unto them, My brethren, whence be ye? And they said, Of Haran are we.
5 And he said unto them, Know ye Laban the son of Nahor? And they said, We know him.
6 And he said unto them, Is he well? And they said, He is well: and, behold, Rachel his daughter cometh with the sheep.
7 And he said, Lo, it is yet high day, neither is it time that the cattle should be gathered together: water ye the sheep, and go and feed them.
8 And they said, We cannot, until all the flocks be gathered together, and till they roll the stone from the well's mouth; then we water the sheep.
9 And while he yet spake with them, Rachel came with her father's sheep; for she kept them.
10 And it came to pass, when Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother's brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother's brother, that Jacob went near, and rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the flock of Laban his mother's brother.
11 And Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted up his voice, and wept.
12 And Jacob told Rachel that he was her father's brother, and that he was Rebekah's son: and she ran and told her father.
13 And it came to pass, when Laban heard the tidings of Jacob his sister's son, that he ran to meet him, and embraced him, and kissed him, and brought him to his house. And he told Laban all these things.
14 And Laban said to him, Surely thou art my bone and my flesh. And he abode with him the space of a month.
15 And Laban said unto Jacob, Because thou art my brother, shouldest thou therefore serve me for nought? tell me, what shall thy wages be?
16 And Laban had two daughters: the name of the elder was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel.
17 Leah was tender eyed; but Rachel was beautiful and well favoured.
18 And Jacob loved Rachel; and said, I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter.
19 And Laban said, It is better that I give her to thee, than that I should give her to another man: abide with me.
20 And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her.
21 And Jacob said unto Laban, Give me my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I may go in unto her.
22 And Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast.
23 And it came to pass in the evening, that he took Leah his daughter, and brought her to him; and he went in unto her.
24 And Laban gave unto his daughter Leah Zilpah his maid for an handmaid.
25 And it came to pass, that in the morning, behold, it was Leah: and he said to Laban, What is this thou hast done unto me? did not I serve with thee for Rachel? wherefore then hast thou beguiled me?
26 And Laban said, It must not be so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn.
27 Fulfil her week, and we will give thee this also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years.
28 And Jacob did so, and fulfilled her week: and he gave him Rachel his daughter to wife also.
29 And Laban gave to Rachel his daughter Bilhah his handmaid to be her maid.
30 And he went in also unto Rachel, and he loved also Rachel more than Leah, and served with him yet seven other years.
31 And when the Lord saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren.
32 And Leah conceived, and bare a son, and she called his name Reuben: for she said, Surely the Lord hath looked upon my affliction; now therefore my husband will love me.
33 And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Because the Lord hath heard I was hated, he hath therefore given me this son also: and she called his name Simeon.
34 And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have born him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi.
35 And she conceived again, and bare a son: and she said, Now will I praise the Lord: therefore she called his name Judah; and left bearing.

Jákób Lábán házában
29 Jákób azután útnak indult, és elment a keleten élő népek földjére.
2 És látta, hogy egy kút volt a mezőn, és három juhnyáj heverészett mellette. Abból a kútból itatták a nyájakat, és a kút száján egy nagy kő volt.
3 Amikor minden nyájat összetereltek, akkor szokták elgördíteni a követ a kút szájáról, hogy megitassák a juhokat, azután vissza szokták tenni a követ a kút szájára.
4 Jákób ezt mondta nekik: Hova valók vagytok, barátaim? Azok ezt felelték: Hárániak vagyunk.
5 Akkor megkérdezte tőlük: Ismeritek-e Lábánt, Náhór fiát? Azt felelték: Ismerjük.
6 Majd ezt kérdezte: Jól van-é? Azok így feleltek: Jól van. Nézd, a leánya, Ráhel, éppen itt jön a juhokkal.
7 Ekkor ő így szólt: Hosszú még a nap, nincs itt az ideje, hogy betereljék a jószágot. Itassátok meg a juhokat, azután menjetek, legeltessetek!
8 De azok ezt felelték: Nem tehetjük, amíg minden nyájat össze nem terelnek, és el nem gördítik a követ a kút szájáról, hogy megitathassuk a juhokat.
9 Még beszélgetett velük, amikor megérkezett Ráhel az apja juhaival, mert ő legeltette azokat.
10 Amikor Jákób meglátta Ráhelt, anyja bátyjának, Lábánnak a leányát, és anyja bátyjának, Lábánnak a juhait, odalépett Jákób, elgördítette a követ a kút szájáról, és megitatta anyja bátyjának, Lábánnak a juhait.
11 Jákób azután megcsókolta Ráhelt, és hangos sírásra fakadt.
12 Jákób elmondta Ráhelnek, hogy ő rokona az apjának, mert Rebekának a fia. A leány ekkor elszaladt, és elbeszélte ezt az apjának.
13 Amikor Lábán hallotta a hírt Jákóbról, húgának a fiáról, eléje futott, megölelte, megcsókolta, és bevezette a házába. Ő pedig elmondott mindent Lábánnak.
14 Lábán ezt mondta neki: Bizony, az én csontom és húsom vagy te! Jákób aztán ott lakott nála egy hónapig.
15 Akkor Lábán ezt mondta Jákóbnak: Ha rokonom vagy is, nem kell ingyen szolgálnod nekem. Mondd meg nekem, mi legyen a béred?
16 Volt pedig Lábánnak két leánya: a nagyobbiknak a neve Lea, a kisebbiknek a neve Ráhel.
17 Lea gyenge szemű volt, Ráhel pedig szép termetű és szép arcú volt.
18 Ezért Ráhelt szerette meg Jákób, és ezt mondta: Szolgálok neked hét esztendeig a kisebbik leányodért, Ráhelért.
19 Lábán azt felelte: Jobb, ha hozzád adom, mintha más emberhez adnám. Maradj nálam!
20 Így szolgált Jákób Ráhelért hét esztendeig, de ez csak néhány napnak tűnt neki, annyira szerette őt.
Jákób házassága Leával és Ráhellel
21 Utána Jákób ezt mondta Lábánnak: Add hozzám a feleségemet, mert letelt az időm. Hadd menjek be hozzá!
22 Lábán össze is gyűjtötte annak a helynek valamennyi lakóját, és lakodalmat rendezett.
23 De amikor este lett, fogta a leányát, Leát, és őt vitte be hozzá. Jákób be is ment hozzá.
24 Lábán a szolgálóját, Zilpát, leányának, Leának adta szolgálóul.
25 Jákób csak reggel látta, hogy Lea van vele. Akkor ezt mondta Lábánnak: Mit tettél velem? Hát nem Ráhelért szolgáltam nálad? Miért csaptál be engem?
26 Lábán így felelt: Nem szokás nálunk, hogy a kisebbiket az elsőszülött előtt adják férjhez.
27 Töltsd el ezt a lakodalmi hetet, aztán neked adjuk amazt is a szolgálatodért, ha másik hét esztendeig szolgálsz nálam.
28 Jákób úgy is tett, eltöltötte azt a hetet. Azután Lábán hozzáadta Ráhelt, a leányát, feleségül.
29 Lábán a szolgálóját, Bilhát, leányának, Ráhelnek adta szolgálóul.
30 Jákób bement Ráhelhoz is, és Ráhelt jobban szerette, mint Leát. Így szolgált Lábánnál még másik hét esztendeig.
Jákób gyermekei
31 De az Úr látta Lea megvetett voltát, és megnyitotta az ő méhét, Ráhel ellenben meddő maradt.
32 Lea teherbe esett és fiút szült. Rúbennek nevezte el, mert azt mondta: Meglátta az Úr nyomorúságomat, most már szeretni fog a férjem.
33 Azután ismét teherbe esett, fiút szült, és azt mondta: Bizony, meghallotta az Úr, hogy milyen megvetett vagyok, azért adta nekem ezt is. És elnevezte őt Simeonnak.
34 Majd újra teherbe esett, fiút szült és azt mondta: Most már ragaszkodni fog hozzám a férjem, mert három fiút szültem neki. Ezért nevezte el őt Lévinek.
35 Megint teherbe esett, fiút szült és azt mondta: Most már hálát adok az Úrnak. Ezért nevezte el őt Júdának. Azután nem szült egy ideig.
