10 在该撒利亚有一个人，名叫哥尼流，是意大利营的百夫长。 2 他是一个虔诚的人，他和全家都敬畏 神，对人民行过许多善事，常常向 神祷告。 3 有一天，大约下午三点钟，他在异象中，清清楚楚看见 神的一位天使来到他那里，对他说：“哥尼流！” 4 他定睛一看，害怕起来，说：“主啊，甚么事？”天使说：“你的祷告和善行，已经达到 神面前，蒙他记念了。 5 现在你要派人到约帕去，请那个名叫彼得的西门来。 6 他在一个制皮工人西门的家里作客，房子就在海边。” 7 和他说话的天使走了之后，他就叫了两个家仆和侍候他的一个虔诚的士兵来， 8 把一切事向他们讲明，然后派他们到约帕去。
彼得见异象(A)
9 第二天，大约正午，他们走近那座城的时候，彼得上了房顶去祷告。 10 那家人正在预备饭的时候，彼得觉得饿了，很想吃饭。这时候他魂游象外， 11 看见天开了，有一件东西，好象一块大布，绑着四角，降在地上。 12 里面有地上的各样四足牲畜，还有昆虫和天空的飞鸟。 13 有声音对他说：“彼得，起来，宰了吃！” 14 彼得说：“主啊，千万不可！我从来不吃俗物和不洁的东西。” 15 第二次又有声音对他说：“ 神所洁净的，你不可当作俗物。” 16 这样一连三次，那件东西就立刻收回天上去了。 17 彼得犹豫不定，不明白所看见的异象是甚么意思，恰好哥尼流派来的人，找到西门的家，站在门口， 18 大声问：“有没有一个名叫彼得的西门在这里作客？” 19 彼得还在思量那异象，圣灵对他说：“你看，有三个人来找你！ 20 起来，下去吧，跟他们一起去，不要疑惑，因为是我差他们来的。” 21 于是彼得下楼到他们那里，说：“看，我就是你们所要找的人。你们是为甚么来的？” 22 他们说：“百夫长哥尼流是个义人，敬畏 神，全犹太族都称赞他。他得到一位圣天使的指示，请你到他家里，要听你的话。” 23 彼得就请他们进去，留他们住下。
第二天，彼得动身跟他们一同去，另有约帕的几位弟兄同行。 24 第三天，他们到了该撒利亚。哥尼流已经招聚了自己的亲戚好友在恭候他们。 25 彼得一进去，哥尼流就迎接他，俯伏在他脚前叩拜。 26 彼得扶起他，说：“起来，我也是人。” 27 彼得和他说了话，就进去，看见许多人聚集在那里， 28 就对他们说：“你们知道，犹太人本来是不准和外国人接近来往的，但 神已经指示了我，不可把任何人当作凡俗或不洁的。 29 所以我一被邀请，就毫不推辞地来了。现在请问：你们请我来是为甚么事？” 30 哥尼流说：“四天以前下午三点钟，我在家里祷告的时候，忽然有一位身穿光明衣服的人，站在我面前， 31 说：‘哥尼流，你的祷告已蒙垂听，你的善行在 神面前已蒙记念。 32 你要派人到约帕去，请那个名叫彼得的西门来。他在海边一个制皮工人西门的家作客。’ 33 所以我立刻派人去请你，现在你来了，好极了！我们都在 神面前，要听主吩咐你的一切话。”
彼得对哥尼流全家讲道
34 彼得就开口说：“我实在看出 神是不偏待人的。 35 原来在各民族中，凡敬畏他而行义的，都蒙他悦纳。 36 神借着耶稣基督（他是万有的主）传和平的福音，把这道传给以色列人。 37 你们知道：在约翰传讲洗礼之后，这道从加利利传遍了犹太， 38 并且知道 神怎样用圣灵和能力膏立拿撒勒人耶稣。他到各处行善事，医好所有被魔鬼压制的人，因为 神与他同在。 39 我们就是他在犹太人之地和耶路撒冷所行一切事的见证人；他们竟然把他挂在木头上，杀了他。 40 神叫他第三天复活，并且使他显现， 41 不是显现给所有的人看，而是给 神预先拣选的见证人看，就是我们这些在他从死人中复活之后，与他一同吃喝的人。 42 他吩咐我们向人民传讲，郑重证明他是 神所立，审判活人死人的主。 43 所有先知都为他作见证：所有信他的，都必借着他的名，罪得赦免。”
外族人领受圣灵
44 彼得还在说话的时候，圣灵降在所有听道的人身上， 45 那些受了割礼、跟彼得一同来的信徒，因为圣灵的恩赐（“恩赐”或译：“恩赏”）也浇灌在外族人的身上，都很惊讶； 46 原来听见他们讲方言，尊 神为大。于是彼得说： 47 “这些人既然领受了圣灵，跟我们一样，谁能禁止他们受水的洗礼呢？” 48 就吩咐他们奉耶稣基督的名受洗。后来，他们请彼得住了几天。

10 在凯撒利亚有一位隶属意大利营的百夫长名叫哥尼流。 2 他和全家都是虔诚敬畏上帝的人，他慷慨周济穷人，常常祷告。 3 一天，大约下午三点，他在异象中清楚地看见一位上帝的天使进来呼唤他：“哥尼流！”
4 哥尼流惊恐地注视着他，问：“主啊，什么事？”
天使回答说：“你的祷告和周济穷人的善行已经在上帝面前蒙悦纳。 5 如今你要派人去约帕，请一个叫西门·彼得的人来。 6 他住在一个叫西门的皮革匠家里，房子在海边。”
7 向他说话的天使离开后，哥尼流叫来两个家仆和自己的一个敬虔侍卫， 8 把刚才的事告诉他们，然后差他们去约帕。
彼得见异象
9 第二天中午，他们快要到达约帕时，彼得上屋顶去祷告。 10 他觉得肚子饿了，想吃东西。那家人正在预备午饭的时候，彼得进入异象， 11 看见天开了，有一样东西好像一大块布，四角吊着降到地上， 12 里面有各种天上的飞禽、地上的爬虫和四足的走兽。 13 然后有声音对他说：“彼得，起来，宰了吃！”
14 彼得却说：“主啊！这可不行！我从未吃过任何污秽不洁之物。”
15 那声音又一次对他说：“上帝已经洁净的，你不可再称之为不洁净。” 16 这样一连三次之后，那块布就被收回天上去了。
17 彼得不知所措，正在猜测这异象到底是什么意思，哥尼流的仆人们刚好找来了， 18 正站在门口大声问西门·彼得是否住在这里。
19 彼得还在苦苦思索的时候，圣灵又对他说：“彼得，外面有三个人来找你， 20 快下楼跟他们去，不必多虑，他们是我差来的。” 21 彼得就下去见他们，说：“我就是你们要找的人，有什么事？”
22 他们说：“哥尼流百夫长是个又正直又敬畏上帝的人，连犹太人都称赞他。上帝的天使指示他请你到他家里去，好听你的指教。”
23 彼得就留他们住了一夜。第二天，彼得和他们以及几个约帕的弟兄一同出发了。 24 又过了一天，他们到达凯撒利亚。哥尼流已经请来亲朋好友，在等候他们。 25 他一看见彼得，就迎上去俯伏在他脚前拜他。 26 彼得连忙把他扶起来，说：“快起来，我只不过是人。”
27 彼得和他边走边谈，进屋后，见聚集了许多人， 28 就对他们说：“你们都知道，按照犹太人的传统，我们不可以和外族人来往。但上帝已经指示我不可把任何人视为污秽不洁。 29 所以，我受到邀请后，毫不犹豫地来了。请问你们为什么请我来？”
30 哥尼流说：“四天前，大约也是下午三点这个时候，我在家里祷告，忽然有一个身穿明亮衣服的人站在我面前， 31 说，‘哥尼流，上帝已经垂听了你的祷告，也悦纳你周济穷人的善行。 32 你派人去约帕把那位叫西门·彼得的人请来，他住在海边一个叫西门的皮革匠家。’ 33 于是我立刻派人去请你。你能来，真是荣幸，现在我们都在上帝面前，想聆听主吩咐你传给我们的话。”
福音临到外族人
34 彼得说：“现在我深深地明白，上帝不偏待人。 35 无论哪一个民族，只要敬畏祂，秉公行义，都会蒙祂接纳。 36 上帝借着万物的主宰——耶稣基督把平安的福音传给以色列人。 37 你们都知道，自从约翰宣讲洗礼以来，从加利利开始，整个犹太地区发生了什么事。 38 你们也知道，拿撒勒人耶稣是上帝用圣灵和大能膏立的。祂周游四方，广行善事，医好被魔鬼压制的人，因为上帝与祂同在。 39 我们亲眼目睹了耶稣在犹太全境和耶路撒冷所做的一切。可是，世人却把祂钉死在十字架上。 40 但第三天，上帝使祂从死里复活，并且向人显现， 41 不是向所有的人显现，而是向被上帝预先拣选为祂做见证的人显现，就是我们这些在祂复活以后与祂一同吃喝过的人。 42 祂命令我们向世人传道，见证祂就是上帝指派来审判活人和死人的那位。 43 所有先知也都为祂做见证说，‘谁信祂，谁的罪就能借着祂的名得到赦免。’”
44 彼得还在说话的时候，圣灵就降临在每一个听道的人身上。 45 跟彼得一起来的那些严守割礼的信徒，看见圣灵的恩赐也浇灌到外族人身上，都很惊奇。 46 因为他们听见这些人又说方言又赞美上帝。于是彼得说： 47 “既然这些人已经和我们一样领受了圣灵，谁能阻止他们接受洗礼呢？” 48 彼得吩咐他们奉耶稣基督的名受洗。之后，他们又请彼得住了几天。

Worldwide English (New Testament)
10 In Caesarea lived a man named Cornelius. He was a big captain in the army. His soldiers were called the Italian Group.
2 He was a good man. He and all the people of his house obeyed God. He gave many gifts to the poor. He always talked with God.
3 About three o'clock one afternoon, he clearly saw an angel from God coming to him in a vision. `Cornelius,' said the angel.
4 Cornelius looked at him. He was afraid and asked, `What is it, Sir?' The angel answered him, `God has heard what you said to him. He has remembered your gifts to the poor.
5 Send men to Joppa to call Simon, whose other name is Peter.
6 He is staying with Simon, the man who makes skins into leather. His house is by the sea. Peter will tell you what you should do.'
7 When the angel which spoke to him had gone, Cornelius called two of his house servants. He also called one of the soldiers who believed in God and who always helped him.
8 He told them carefully all about his vision. Then he sent them to Joppa.
9 They went the next day. They were coming near to the city. About midday, Peter went up on the flat roof of the house to talk with God.
10 He became very hungry and wanted to eat. While food was being made ready, something like a dream came over him.
11 He saw the sky open. A bundle like a big blanket was tied by the corners. It was let down to earth.
12 In the bundle were all kinds of animals and snakes and birds.
13 Then Peter heard a voice saying to him, `Get up, Peter. Kill some and eat.'
14 But Peter said, `No, Lord, for I have never eaten anything that is not holy or not clean.'
15 Then the voice spoke to him again, saying, `What God has made clean you must not call unholy.'
16 This happened three times. Then the thing was taken up right away into the sky.
17 `I have seen a strange thing,' Peter said to himself. `I wonder what it all means.' He was thinking about all this. And the men whom Cornelius sent had asked the way to Simon's house. Now they stood at the gate.
18 `Is this where Simon Peter is staying?' they called.
19 Peter was still thinking about what he had seen. Then the Spirit of God said to him, `Three men are looking for you.
20 Get up. Go down and go with them. Do not fear to go, because I have sent them.'
21 Then Peter went down to the men whom Cornelius had sent to him. He said, `Here I am. You are looking for me. Why have you come?'
22 They answered, `God sent a holy angel to Cornelius. He told him to call you to his house and hear what you have to say. Cornelius is a captain in the army. He is a good man. He does what is right and obeys God. All the Jews speak well of him.'
23 Peter said, `Come in.' He had them stay as his guests. The next day he and some of the Christian brothers from Joppa went with the men.
24 The day after that, they reached Caesarea. Cornelius was waiting for them. He had called his family and close friends together.
25 Peter was about to enter the house. Cornelius met him. He kneeled down at his feet and worshipped him.
26 But Peter raised him up and said, `Please stand up. I too am only a man.
27 Peter talked to him and went in with him. He saw many people who had come together.
28 He began to talk with them. He said, `You yourselves know it is against our law for a Jew to visit and be friends with someone who is not a Jew. But God has shown me that I should not call any man unholy or unclean.
29 So when you sent for me, I did not say "No". Now I ask, why did you send for me?'
30 Cornelius answered, `Four days ago, it was just at this time, three o'clock. I was in my house talking with God. I had not eaten any food. A man stood in front of me wearing shining clothes.
31 He said to me, "Cornelius, God has heard what you said to him. He has remembered your gifts to the poor.
32 Send men to Joppa to call for Simon Peter. He is staying with Simon, the man who makes skins into leather. His house is by the sea."
33 So I sent for you right away. You have done well to come. Now we are all here before God to hear all that the Lord has told you to tell me.'
34 Then Peter began to speak, `I really understand now. God does not love some people more than others.
35 But he takes anyone who obeys him. He takes anyone who does what is right. It does not matter to what nation they belong.
36 To the people of Israel God has sent the good news. He gives peace through Jesus Christ. He is Lord of all!
37 You yourselves know the story of what happened all through Judea. It started in Galilee after the baptism which John talked about.
38 God gave Jesus of Nazareth the Holy Spirit and power. Jesus went about doing good deeds. He healed all those who were held by the devil. God was with him.
39 We saw all the things which he did in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem. And they hung him on a piece of wood and killed him.
40 On the third day, God raised him up to let people see him.
41 Not all the people saw him. But God had chosen us to see and to talk about him. We saw him. We ate and drank with him after he rose from death.
42 He told us to tell the people that God chose him to judge both the living people and the dead people.
43 All the prophets tell about him. They say, "Everyone who believes in him will have his wrong ways forgiven through his name." '
44 While Peter was saying this, the Holy Spirit came on all those who heard the message.
45 The believers who came with Peter were Jews. They were very much surprised that the Holy Spirit was also sent to those who were not Jews. 46,
46-47 hey heard them speak in tongues of other languages and praise God. Then Peter said, `These people have received the Holy Spirit just as we have. Can anyone say they may not be baptised in water?'
48 So he said they were to be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ. They begged him to stay with them for a while.
