約束の聖霊が下る
2 さて、イエスの死と復活から、七週間が過ぎました。五旬節（ユダヤ教の祭りの一つ）の日のことです。信者たちが一堂に集まっていると、 2 突然、天からものすごい音がしました。まるで、激しい風が吹きつけるような音です。それが、家全体にごうごうと響き渡ったのです。 3 そして、めらめら燃える炎の舌のようなものが現れ、みなの頭上にとどまりました。 4 するとどうでしょう。その場にいた人たちは、みな聖霊に満たされ、知りもしない外国語で話し始めたではありませんか。聖霊が、それだけの力を与えてくださったのです。
5 その日エルサレムには、たくさんの敬虔なユダヤ人が、祭りのために、世界のあちこちから集まっていました。 6 この大音響に、人々はいったい何事かと駆けつけましたが、弟子たちの話していることばを聞いて、すっかり面食らってしまいました。まぎれもなく自分たちの国のことばだったからです。
7 人々には、さっぱり訳がわかりません。ただ口々に、こう言い合うばかりでした。「こんなことってあるだろうか。みんなガリラヤ出身の人だというのに、 8 私たちの国のことばですらすら話している。 9 ここには、パルテヤ人、メジヤ人、エラム人、またメソポタミヤ、ユダヤ、カパドキヤ、ポント、アジヤ、 10 フルギヤ、パンフリヤ、エジプト、それにリビヤのクレネ語が使われている地方などから来た人たちがいるし、ほかにも、ローマからの旅行者で、もともとのユダヤ人もいれば、ユダヤ教への改宗者もいる。 11 それに、クレテ人やアラビヤ人もいる。それがどうだ。それぞれの出身地のことばで、神のすばらしい奇跡の話を聞くとは……。」
12 人々はただ呆然として、「いったい、どうなっているのだ」と顔を見合わせました。
13 しかし中には、「何、彼らは酔っぱらっているだけさ」と、あざける者たちもいました。
14 するとペテロが、十一人の使徒と共につかつかと進み出て、声を張り上げ、人々に語りかけました。「よそから来られた方も、エルサレムに住んでおられる皆さんも、どうぞお聞きください。 15 皆さんの中には、私たちが酒に酔っているのだとおっしゃる方もいますが、そんなことはありません。酒に酔うには時間が早すぎます。朝の九時から酒を飲む人はいないでしょう。 16 いま見ていることは、何世紀も前に、まさに預言者ヨエルが預言したことなのです。
17 『神は言われる。
終わりの日に、
わたしはすべての人にわたしの霊を注ぐ。
その時、あなたがたの息子、娘は預言し、
青年は幻を見、
老人は夢を見る。
18 聖霊は、男女を問わず、わたしに仕える者たちに
注がれる。
すると、彼らは預言をする。
19 また、わたしは天と地に不思議なしるしを現す。
血と火と煙の雲だ。
20 主の恐るべき日が来る前に、
太陽は暗くなり、月は血のように赤くなる。
21 しかし、主にあわれみを求める者はみな、
あわれみを受けて救われる。』（ヨエル2・28-32）
22 ああ、皆さん。これから申し上げることを聞いてください。よくご存じのように、ナザレのイエスは、あなたがたの前で、力ある奇跡を行われました。神様はそれによって、だれにもはっきりわかるように、イエス様の身元を保証なさったのです。 23 神様はあらかじめ計画したとおり、この方を、あなたがたの手でローマ政府に引き渡し、十字架で処刑することをお許しになりました。 24 そうした上で、この方を死の苦しみから解放し、復活させたのです。この方が、ずっと死んだままでいることなど、ありえないことだからです。
25 ダビデ王は、イエス様のことをこう言っています。
『主はいつも私と共におられる。
主が私を助け、
神の大きな力が私を支える。
26 だから、心は喜びにあふれ、
私の舌は主をほめたたえる。
たとい死んでも、私には望みがある。
27 あなたは、私のたましいを地獄に放置せず、
あなたの聖なる息子の体を、
朽ち果てさせることもない。
28 私を生き返らせ、
あなたの前で、すばらしい喜びにあふれさせる。』（詩篇16・8-11）
29 愛する皆さん。考えてください。ダビデはここで、自分のことを語っているわけではありません。そうでしょう。ダビデは死んで葬られ、その墓は今でも、ちゃんと残っているではありませんか。 30 しかし、彼は預言者でしたから、自分の子孫の一人がメシヤ（ヘブル語で、救い主）となり、ダビデの王座につくと神が誓われたことを知っていたのです。 31 それで、遠い将来を望み見ながら、メシヤの復活を預言しました。メシヤのたましいは地獄に放置されず、その体が朽ち果てることもない、と語ったのです。 32 そのとおり、神様はイエスを復活させました。私たちはみな、そのことの証人です。
33 いまイエス様は、天で最も栄誉ある神の右の座についておられます。そして、約束どおり、父なる神は聖霊を送ってくださいました。その結果、たった今、あなたがたが見聞きしたことが起こったのです。
34-35 ダビデは、決して自分のことを言ったのではありません。ダビデは天にのぼったことはないからです。それに、当のダビデがこうも言っています。
『神は私の主に言われた。
「わたしがあなたの敵を
完全に征服するまで、
わたしの右に座っていなさい。」』（詩篇110・1）
36 ですから、イスラエルのすべての人に、はっきり言っておきます。神様が主とし、キリスト（ギリシャ語で、救い主）とされたイエスを、あなたがたは十字架につけたのです。」
37 ペテロのことばは、人々の心を強く打ちました。「それでは、私たちはどうすればいいのでしょう。」あちらからもこちらからも、使徒たちへの質問の声があがりました。
38 ペテロは答えました。「一人一人、罪の生活から悔い改めて神に立ち返りなさい。そして、罪を赦していただくために、イエス・キリストの名によってバプテスマ（洗礼）を受けなさい。そうすれば、聖霊という賜物をいただけます。 39 それはキリストが約束してくださったことです。あなたがたは言うまでもなく、あなたがたの子孫、また遠くにいても、私たちの神である主がお招きになったすべての人に与えられるのです。」
40 このあとも、ペテロの説教はえんえんと続きました。イエスのことや、悪に満ちたこの時代から救われなければならないことを、ことばを尽くして訴えたのです。 41 この日、ペテロの言うことを信じた人はバプテスマを受けましたが、その数は全部で三千人ほどでした。 42 彼らは、使徒たちの教えをよく守り、聖餐式（パンと杯によりキリストの体と血の祝福にあずかる、キリスト教の礼典の一つ）や祈り会に加わっていました。
43 だれもが心から神を恐れ敬うようになり、また、使徒たちは次々と奇跡を行いました。 44 信者たちはみないっしょにいて、それぞれの持ち物を分け合い、 45 必要がある人には、財産を売り払って与えました。 46 毎日、神殿で礼拝をし、聖餐の時は、少人数に分かれてめいめいの家に集まり、心から喜びと感謝にあふれて食事を共にし、 47 心から神を賛美しました。彼らは町中の人に好感をもたれ、神も、救われる人を毎日、仲間に加えてくださいました。

聖靈降臨
2 五旬節那天，門徒聚集在一起。 2 忽然，天上發出一陣響聲，好像狂風呼嘯而過，充滿了他們所在的房子， 3 又有火焰般的舌頭顯現出來，分別落在各人的頭上。 4 大家都被聖靈充滿，得到聖靈所賜的才能，說起別的語言來。
5 當時耶路撒冷住著從各國回來的虔誠的猶太人。 6 眾人聽見這陣響聲便趕過來，聽見門徒在說他們各自的語言，都十分納悶， 7 驚詫地說：「看啊！這些說話的不都是加利利人嗎？ 8 怎麼會說我們各自的語言呢？ 9 我們這裡有帕提亞人、瑪代人、以攔人，以及住在美索不達米亞、猶太、加帕多迦、本都、亞細亞、 10 弗呂迦、旁非利亞、埃及和靠近古利奈的利比亞的人，還有從羅馬來的猶太人和改信猶太教的人、 11 克里特人和阿拉伯人。我們都聽見他們在用我們各自的語言訴說上帝的偉大！」 12 他們都大感驚奇和困惑，彼此議論說：「這到底是怎麼回事？」
13 有些人就譏笑說：「他們不過是被新酒灌醉了！」

14 彼得和其他十一位使徒都站起來，他大聲對眾人說：「各位猶太同胞和住在耶路撒冷的人啊，請留心聽！我告訴你們這是怎麼回事。 15 你們以為這些人是醉了，其實不是，因為現在才早上九點鐘。 16 你們眼前看見的正是先知約珥所說的，
17 『上帝說，在末後的日子，
我要將我的靈澆灌所有的人，
你們的兒女要說預言，
青年要見異象，
老人要做異夢。
18 那時，我要將我的靈澆灌我的奴僕和婢女，
他們都要說預言。
19 在天上，我要顯異兆；
在地上，我要行神蹟，有血、有火、有濃煙。
20 太陽要變得昏暗，
月亮要變得血紅。
這都要發生在主偉大榮耀的日子來臨以前。
21 那時，凡求告主名的，都必得救。』
22 「各位以色列人啊，請留心聽。上帝藉著拿撒勒人耶穌在你們中間行了異能、奇事和神蹟，以證明拿撒勒人耶穌是祂派來的。這是你們都知道的。 23 上帝照著自己的計劃和預知把耶穌交在你們手裡，你們藉著邪惡之人的手把祂釘死在十字架上了。 24 但上帝為祂解除了死亡的痛苦，使祂從死裡復活，因為祂不可能被死亡拘禁。 25 論到耶穌，大衛曾說，
『我看見主常在我面前，
祂在我右邊，我必不動搖。
26 因此我的心歡喜，我的口頌讚，
我的身體也要活在盼望中。
27 因為你不會把我的靈魂撇在陰間，
也不會讓你的聖者身體朽壞。
28 你已把生命之路指示我，
叫我在你面前充滿喜樂。』
29 「弟兄們，我肯定地對你們說，先祖大衛死了，埋葬了，他的墳墓至今還在這裡。 30 大衛是先知，知道上帝曾起誓要從他的後裔中選立一人繼承他的王位。 31 他預先知道這事，講到基督的復活，說，『祂的靈魂不會被撇在陰間，祂的身體也不會朽壞』。 32 上帝已經使這位耶穌復活了！我們都是這件事的見證人。 33 現在祂升到上帝的右邊，從天父領受了所應許的聖靈，並將聖靈澆灌下來，你們今天也耳聞目睹了。 34 大衛並沒有升到天上，但他曾說，
『主對我主說，
你坐在我的右邊，
35 等我使你的仇敵成為你的腳凳。』
36 「所以，全體以色列人啊！你們應當確實地知道，上帝已經立這位被你們釘在十字架上的耶穌為主，為基督了。」
37 他們聽了彼得的話，覺得扎心，就對彼得和其他使徒說：「弟兄們，我們該怎麼辦呢？」 38 彼得說：「你們每一個人都要悔改，奉耶穌基督的名受洗，使你們的罪得到赦免，你們就必領受上帝所賜的聖靈。 39 因為這應許是給你們和你們的兒女，以及遠方的人，就是所有被主——我們的上帝呼召的人。」
40 然後，彼得還講了許多話警戒、勸勉他們，說：「你們要保守自己脫離這邪惡的世代。」
41 結果，那天約有三千人相信了他傳的道，接受了洗禮。 42 他們都一心遵守使徒的教導，一起團契、掰餅、禱告。
43 大家都滿心敬畏上帝。使徒又行了很多神蹟奇事。 44 信徒聚在一起，共用所有的東西。 45 他們把田產家業變賣了，按照各人的需要把錢分給大家。 46 他們天天同心合意地聚集在聖殿裡敬拜上帝，又在各人家中擘餅聚會，以歡喜、慷慨的心分享食物， 47 讚美上帝，受到眾人的喜愛。主使得救的人數與日俱增。

The coming of the Holy Spirit. The sermon of Peter before the crowds of people at Jerusalem, and the increase of the faithful.
2 When the fiftieth day was come, they were all with one accord together in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven like the coming of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they sat. 3 And there appeared to them cloven tongues, as if of fire, which sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, even as the Spirit gave them utterance.
5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, who were from all nations under heaven. 6 Hearing of this, a large crowd came together. And the people were astonished, because everyone heard them speak his own tongue. 7 They all wondered and marvelled, saying among themselves, Are not all these who speak from Galilee? 8 And how is that we hear each his own tongue in which he was born? 9 Parthians, Medes, and Elamites, and the inhabiters of Mesopotamia, of Judea, and of Cappadocia, of Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia, Pamphylia, and of Egypt, and of the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, and strangers from Rome, Jews and converts, 11 Greeks and Arabians: we have heard them speak with our own tongues about the great works of God. 12 They were all amazed, and wondered, saying to one another, What does this mean? 13 Others mocked them, saying, They are full of new wine.
14 But Peter stepped forth with the eleven, and lifted up his voice and said to them, Men of Judea, and all ye who inhabit Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and with your ears hear my words. 15 These are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is yet but the third hour of the day. 16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17 It shall be in the last days, says God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh. And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. 18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out of my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. 19 And I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath: blood and fire, and the vapour of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord comes. 21 And it shall be that whosoever calls on the name of the Lord, shall be saved.
22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words. Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God among you with miracles, wonders, and signs that God did by him in the midst of you, as you yourselves know. 23 Him you have taken by the hands of unrighteous persons, after he was delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, and have crucified and slain. 24 But God has raised him up, and loosed the sorrows of death, because it was impossible that he should be held by it. 25 For David speaks of him: I foresaw God always before me. For he is on my right hand, that I should not be shaken. 26 Therefore my heart rejoiced and my tongue was glad. Moreover also, my flesh shall rest in hope, 27 because you will not leave my soul in hell, nor suffer your Holy One to see corruption. 28 You have shown me the ways of life, and will make me full of joy with your countenance.
29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak to you of the patriarch David. For he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre remains with us to this day. 30 Therefore, seeing he was a prophet, and knew that God had sworn with an oath to him that the fruit of his loins would sit on his seat, 31 in that Christ would rise again in the flesh, he saw beforehand and spoke of the resurrection of Christ – that his soul would not be left in hell, nor would his flesh see corruption. 32 This Jesus, God has raised up – whereof we are all witnesses.
33 Since now he is exalted by the right hand of God, and has received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has shed forth that which you now see and hear. 34 For David did not ascend into heaven, but he said: The Lord said to my Lord, Sit on my right hand 35 until I make your enemies your footstool. 36 So therefore, let all the house of Israel know most certainly that God has made this same Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.
37 When they heard this, they were pricked in their hearts and said to Peter and to the other apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Peter said to them, Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise was made to you and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God will call.
40 And with many other words he bore witness and exhorted them, saying, Save yourselves from this perverse generation. 41 Then those who gladly received his preaching were baptized, and the same day there were added to them about three thousand souls.
42 And they continued in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayer. 43 And fear came over every soul. And many wonders and signs were shown by the apostles. 44 And all who believed kept themselves together, and had all things in common, 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and distributed them to all, as anyone had need. 46 And they continued daily with one accord in the temple, and broke bread in every house, and ate their food together, with gladness and singleness of heart praising God, 47 and had favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the congregation daily such as were to be saved.
