Paparusahan ng Diyos ang Babilonia
13 Narito(A) ang isang pahayag mula sa Diyos tungkol sa Babilonia, sa isang pangitain na nakita ni Isaias na anak ni Amoz:
2 Itayo mo ang isang bandila sa tuktok ng burol,
isigaw sa mga kawal ang hudyat ng paglusob,
lusubin ang mga pintuan ng palalong lunsod.
3 Inutusan ko na ang aking mga piling kawal,
tinawagan ko na ang magigiting kong mandirigma. Malalakas sila at masisigla,
upang ipalasap ang aking galit.
4 Pakinggan ninyo ang nagkakagulong ingay sa kabundukan
dahil sa dami ng tao.
Pakinggan ninyo ang ugong ng mga kaharian,
ng mga bansang nagkakatipon!
Inihahanda na ni Yahweh na Makapangyarihan sa lahat
ang kanyang mga hukbo para sa isang digmaan.
5 Dumarating sila buhat sa malayong lupain,
buhat sa dulo ng daigdig.
Dumarating na si Yahweh,
upang wasakin ang buong lupain dahil sa kanyang poot.
6 Manangis(B) kayo sapagkat malapit na ang araw ni Yahweh,
darating na ang araw ng pangwawasak ng Diyos na Makapangyarihan.
7 Sa araw na iyon, manghihina ang lahat ng kamay.
Manlulupaypay ang lahat ng tao,
8 ang lahat ng tao'y masisindak,
at manginginig sa takot,
makadarama sila ng paghihirap, tulad ng isang babaing manganganak.
Matatakot sila sa isa't isa;
mamumula ang kanilang mukha dahil sa kahihiyan.
9 Dumarating na ang araw ni Yahweh,
malupit ito at nag-aalab sa matinding poot,
upang wasakin ang lupain
at ang masasama ay lipulin.
10 Hindi(C) na magniningning
ang liwanag ng mga bituin sa kalangitan,
magiging madilim ang araw sa pagsikat,
pati ang buwan ay hindi na magsasabog ng liwanag.
11 “Paparusahan ko ang daigdig dahil sa kasamaan nito,
at ang masasama dahil sa kanilang kasalanan;
wawakasan ko na ang pagmamataas ng mga palalo,
at puputulin ko na ang kayabangan ng mga walang awa.
12 Kaunti lamang ang ititira kong tao
at magiging mahirap pa silang hanapin kaysa gintong lantay na galing sa Ofir.
13 Kaya nga yayanigin ko ang kalangitan,
at ang lupa ay malilihis sa kinalalagyan nito,
sa araw na isinabog ni Yahweh na Makapangyarihan sa lahat
ang kanyang matinding poot.
14 Parang usang hinahabol,
parang tupang walang pastol,
ang mga tao'y babalik sa kani-kanilang bayan,
sila ay tatakas pabalik sa sariling lupain.
15 Ang bawat mahuli'y papatayin sa pamamagitan ng tabak.
16 Sa harapan nila'y
luluray-lurayin ang kanilang mga sanggol,
lilimasin ang mga ari-arian sa kanilang mga tahanan,
at ang kanilang mga asawa'y pagsasamantalahan.”
17 Sinabi pa ni Yahweh,
“Ipasasalakay ko sila sa mga taga-Media,
mga taong walang pagpapahalaga sa pilak
at di natutukso sa ginto.
18 Papatayin nila sa pamamagitan ng pana ang mga kabataang lalaki,
hindi nila kahahabagan ang mga sanggol at mga bata.
19 Ang(D) Babilonia, na pinakamaganda sa mga kaharian,
ang kayamanang ipinagmamalaki ng mga taga-Babilonia,
ay pababagsakin ng Diyos
tulad sa Sodoma at Gomorra.
20 Wala nang taong maninirahan doon kahit kailan,
wala nang Arabong magtatayo ng tolda roon,
wala nang pastol na mag-aalaga ng tupa doon.
21 Mga(E) hayop na maiilap ang mananahan doon,
titirhan ng mga ostrits ang kanyang mga bahay,
pagtataguan ang mga iyon ng mga ostrits
at maglulundagan doon ang mga maiilap na kambing.
22 Aatungal ang mga hiyena sa kanyang mga tore,
aalulong ang mga asong-gubat sa kanyang mga palasyo.
Nalalapit na ang wakas ng Babilonia,
hindi na siya magtatagal.”

13 以下是亚摩斯的儿子以赛亚得到有关巴比伦的预言：
2 要在光秃的山顶上竖立旗帜，
向战士高呼，
挥手示意他们进攻贵族居住的城。
3 我已向我拣选的士兵发出命令，
我已号召我的勇士去倾倒我的烈怒，
他们因我的胜利而欢喜。
4 听啊，山上人声鼎沸，
像是大军的声音。
那是列邦列国聚集呐喊的声音。
万军之耶和华正在召集军队，
准备作战。
5 他们从地极，从天边而来。
那是耶和华及倾倒祂烈怒的兵器，
要来毁灭大地。
6 哀号吧！
耶和华的日子近了，
全能者施行毁灭的时候到了。
7 人们都必双手发软，胆战心惊，
8 惊恐万状，
痛苦不堪如同分娩的妇人。
他们必面面相觑，
羞愧得面如火烧。
9 看啊，耶和华的日子来临了，
是充满愤恨和烈怒的残酷之日，
要使大地荒凉，
毁灭地上的罪人。
10 天上的星辰不再发光，
太阳刚出来就变黑，
月亮也暗淡无光。
11 我必惩罚这罪恶的世界，
惩治邪恶的世人，
制止骄横之人的狂妄，
压下残暴之徒的骄傲。
12 我必使人比精炼的金子还稀少，
比俄斐的纯金更罕见。
13 我万军之耶和华发烈怒的日子，
必震动诸天，
摇撼大地。
14 人们都投奔亲族，
逃回故乡，
好像被追赶的鹿，
又如走散的羊。
15 被捉住的人都会被刺死，
被逮住的人都会丧身刀下。
16 他们的婴孩将被摔死在他们眼前，
家园遭劫掠，
妻子被蹂躏。
17 看啊，我要驱使玛代人来攻击他们。
玛代人不在乎金子，
也不看重银子，
18 他们必用弓箭射死青年，
不怜悯婴儿，
也不顾惜孩童。
19 巴比伦在列国中辉煌无比，
是迦勒底人的荣耀，
但上帝必毁灭她，
好像毁灭所多玛和蛾摩拉一样。
20 那里必人烟绝迹，
世世代代无人居住，
没有阿拉伯人在那里支搭帐篷，
也无人牧放羊群。
21 那里躺卧着旷野的走兽，
咆哮的猛兽占满房屋；

要來毀滅大地。
6 哀號吧！
耶和華的日子近了，
全能者施行毀滅的時候到了。
7 人們都必雙手發軟，膽戰心驚，
8 驚恐萬狀，
痛苦不堪如同分娩的婦人。
他們必面面相覷，
羞愧得面如火燒。
9 看啊，耶和華的日子來臨了，
是充滿憤恨和烈怒的殘酷之日，
要使大地荒涼，
毀滅地上的罪人。
10 天上的星辰不再發光，
太陽剛出來就變黑，
月亮也暗淡無光。
11 我必懲罰這罪惡的世界，
懲治邪惡的世人，
制止驕橫之人的狂妄，
壓下殘暴之徒的驕傲。
12 我必使人比精煉的金子還稀少，
比俄斐的純金更罕見。
13 我萬軍之耶和華發烈怒的日子，
必震動諸天，
搖撼大地。
14 人們都投奔親族，
逃回故鄉，
好像被追趕的鹿，
又如走散的羊。
15 被捉住的人都會被刺死，
被逮住的人都會喪身刀下。
16 他們的嬰孩將被摔死在他們眼前，
家園遭劫掠，
妻子被蹂躪。
17 看啊，我要驅使瑪代人來攻擊他們。
瑪代人不在乎金子，
也不看重銀子，
18 他們必用弓箭射死青年，

Chapter 13
Babylon.[b] 1 An oracle concerning Babylon that Isaiah, the son of Amoz, received in a vision:
2 Upon a barren hill raise a banner;
cry aloud to them.
Wave your hand to them
to enter the gates of the nobles.
3 I have commanded my consecrated soldiers
and summoned my dedicated warriors
to carry out my vengeance.
4 Listen to the great tumult on the mountains
like that of an immense gathering.
Listen to the uproar of the kingdoms,
of nations assembling;
the Lord of hosts is mustering
an army for battle.
5 From a distant land,
from the end of the heavens,
the Lord and the instruments of his wrath
are coming to destroy the entire earth.
6 Cry out in anguish,
for the day of the Lord is near;
it will come like devastation from the Almighty.
7 Therefore, every hand will hang limp
and every man’s courage will fade;
8 they will all be panic-stricken,
overcome with pangs and agony
and writhing like a woman in labor.
They will look aghast at each other,
with their faces aflame with fear.
9 Behold, the day of the Lord is coming,
a cruel day of wrath and burning anger,
to reduce the land to a desert waste
and to destroy all the sinners within it.
10 The stars of the heavens and their constellations
will no longer give forth their light.
The sun will be dark when it rises,
and the moon will not provide its light.
11 By taking this course
I will punish the world for its wickedness
and those who are evil for their iniquity.
I will put an end to the pride of the arrogant
and humble the insolence of tyrants.
12 I will make human beings more scarce than pure gold,
far more rare than the gold of Ophir.
13 Therefore, I am determined to make the heavens tremble
and the earth will be shaken to its very foundations,
at the wrath of the Lord of hosts,
on the day of his blazing anger.
14 Like a gazelle fleeing from a hunter,
or like a flock of sheep that no one gathers,
everyone will return to his own people
and flee to his native land.
15 Any who are found will be slaughtered;
without exception they will be slain by the sword.
16 Their infants will be smashed to pieces before their eyes;
their houses will be plundered
and their wives will be ravished.
17 Behold, I am stirring up against them the Medes
who have no interest in silver
and are not tempted by gold.[c]
18 With their bows they will slaughter the young men,
and they will show no pity for young children.
19 And Babylon, the most glorious of kingdoms,
the splendor and jewel of the Chaldeans,
will be like Sodom and Gomorrah
when they were overthrown by God.
20 It will never be inhabited;
no future generations will ever reside there.
No Arab will ever again pitch his tent there,
nor will shepherds rest their flocks in that land.
21 However, wild animals of the desert will dwell there,
and its houses will be filled with jackals.
There ostriches will reside,
and there wild goats[d] will dance.
22 Hyenas will howl in her castles
and jackals in her luxurious palaces.
Her time draws near,
and her days will not be prolonged.

- Isaiah 13:1 The oracles grouped together in chapters 13–23 arose in historical situations that were very diverse and often remote from one another in time. Some of the oracles were composed by Isaiah, others by some of his later disciples. These inspired men saw in the development of events and the collisions of peoples a fulfillment of the judgment of God, who offers salvation to every people that turns to him. Discreetly but firmly, the national boundaries of Israel are ignored, and the theme of the call of the nations makes its appearance.
- Isaiah 13:1 The editor of the Book attributes this lament to Isaiah himself. This lament describes the fall of Babylon after the manner of the fall of Nineveh. In fact, the city conquered by Cyrus in 539 B.C., was not destroyed, but the disappearance of the Assyrian capital, like that of Sodom and Gomorrah, always remained a paradigm for the prophets.
- Isaiah 13:17 The Medes were originally warlike tribes from the mountains east of Babylonia; once gathered as a kingdom, they were first allied with Babylon against the Assyrians; later, joined with the Persians, they would contribute to the fall of Babylon.
- Isaiah 13:21 Wild goats: or “satyrs,” popular personifications of the demons who dwelt in ruins.
