1 یہ کتاب ناحوم القوشی کی رویا ہے۔ نینوہ شہر کے بارے میں یہ غم بھرا پیغام ہے۔
خدا وند نینوہ سے ناراض ہے
2 خدا وند بہت غیرت مند اور انتقام لینے والا خدا ہے۔
خدا وند وہ ہے جو طیش میں بدلہ لیتا ہے۔
وہ اپنے مخالفوں سے بدلہ لیتا ہے اور اسکا غیض و غضب اسکے دشمنوں کے خلاف ہے۔
3 خدا وند صابر ہے، لیکن وہ بہت قدرت والا ہے۔
اور خدا وند قصور وار کو سزا دیتا ہے۔
وہ انہیں آزادانہ طور پر چلے جانے نہیں دیگا۔
دیکھو خدا وند مجرموں کو سزا دینے آرہا ہے۔
وہ اپنی قدرت دکھا نے کے لئے گرد و غبار اور آندھی کو کام میں لائے گا۔
انسان تو زمین میں مٹی پر چلتا ہے۔ لیکن خداوند بادلوں پر چلتا ہے۔
4 اگر خدا وند سمندر کو ڈانٹے تو سمندر بھی سو کھ جائے۔
ساری ندی سوکھ جائے۔
بسن اور کر مل کملا جائیں گے
اور لبنان کی کونپلیں مر جھا جائیں گی۔
5 خدا وند کی آمد ہوگی
اور پہاڑ خوف سے کانپیں گے اور یہ پہاڑیاں پگھل کر بہہ جائیں گی۔
خدا وند کی آمد ہوگی اور یہ زمین خوف سے کانپ اٹھے گی۔
یہ دنیا اور جو کچھ زندہ ہے خوف سے کانپے گی۔
6 خدا وند کے عظیم قہر کا سامنا کوئی نہیں کر سکتا۔
کوئی بھی اسکا بھیانک غصہ سہہ نہیں سکتا۔
اسکا قہر آگ کی مانند نازل ہو تا ہے۔
وہ چٹا نوں کو توڑ ڈالتا ہے۔
7 خدا وند اچھا ہے اور مصیبت کے دن پناہ گاہ ہے۔
وہ اسے جانتا ہے جو اس میں پناہ لیتا ہے۔
8 لیکن وہ اپنے دشمنوں کو پوری طرح نیست و نابود کرے گا۔
وہ انہیں سیلاب کی طرح بہا کر لے جائے گا۔
تاریکی کے درمیان وہ اپنے دشمنوں کا پیچھا کرے گا۔
9 کیا تم خدا وند کی مخالفت میں منصوبے بنا رہے ہو؟
وہ تیرا خاتمہ کر دے گا۔
پھر اور کوئی دوبارہ کبھی خدا وند کی مخالفت نہیں کرے گا۔
10 تمہارے دشمن الجھے ہوئے کانٹوں سے نیست و نابود ہوں گے۔
وہ سوکھی گھاس کی مانند جلد جل جائیں گے۔
11 اے نینوہ! ایک شخص تجھ سے ہی آگے آیا
اور خدا وند کے خلاف برا منصوبہ بنایا اور برا مشورہ پیش کیا۔
12 خدا وند نے بولا:
“اگر چہ اسیر یہ کے لوگ کافی طاقتور ہیں
اور انکے پاس کافی سپا ہی ہیں، وہ کاٹ دیئے جائیں گے
اور سب کا خاتمہ کیا جائے گا۔
اے میرے لوگو! میں نے تم کو بہت دکھ دیا
لیکن اب آگے تمہیں مزید دکھ نہیں دونگا۔”
13 میں اب تمہیں اسور کی قوت سے نجات دوں گا۔
تمہارے کندھے سے میں وہ جوا اتار دوں گا۔
تمہاری زنجیر جن میں تم بندھے ہو میں اب توڑ دونگا۔
14 اے اسور کے بادشاہ، تیرے بارے میں خدا وند نے یہ کہتے ہوئے حکم دیا:
“تیرا نام لیوا کوئی بھی نسل نہیں رہے گی۔
میں پتھر یا لکڑیوں کے تراشے ہوئے بت
اور ڈھالی ہوئی دھات کے مورتیوں جو کہ تمہارے جھوٹے خداؤں کی ہیکل میں ہيں اس کو بھی نیست و نابود کروں گا ۔
میں تیرے لئے قبر بنا رہا ہوں
کیوں کہ تیرا خاتمہ بہت نزدیک ہے۔”
15 دیکھ یہوداہ!
دیکھ وہاں پہاڑ کے اوپر سے کوئی آرہا ہے۔ کوئی خبر رساں خوشخبری لے کر آرہا ہے۔
دیکھو وہ کہہ رہا ہے کہ یہاں پر سلامتی ہے۔
اے یہوداہ! اپنی تقریب منا۔
اے یہوداہ اپنا نذرانہ پیش کر۔
اب کبھی خبیث تم پر حملہ نہ کریں گے اور وہ پھر تم کو ہرا نہیں پائیں گے۔
ان سبھی کا خاتمہ کر دیا گیا ہے۔

1 A prophecy(A) concerning Nineveh.(B) The book of the vision(C) of Nahum the Elkoshite.
The Lord’s Anger Against Nineveh
2 The Lord is a jealous(D) and avenging God;
the Lord takes vengeance(E) and is filled with wrath.
The Lord takes vengeance on his foes
and vents his wrath against his enemies.(F)
3 The Lord is slow to anger(G) but great in power;
the Lord will not leave the guilty unpunished.(H)
His way is in the whirlwind(I) and the storm,(J)
and clouds(K) are the dust of his feet.
4 He rebukes(L) the sea and dries it up;(M)
he makes all the rivers run dry.
Bashan and Carmel(N) wither
and the blossoms of Lebanon fade.
5 The mountains quake(O) before him
and the hills melt away.(P)
The earth trembles(Q) at his presence,
the world and all who live in it.(R)
6 Who can withstand(S) his indignation?
Who can endure(T) his fierce anger?(U)
His wrath is poured out like fire;(V)
the rocks are shattered(W) before him.
7 The Lord is good,(X)
a refuge in times of trouble.(Y)
He cares for(Z) those who trust in him,(AA)
8 but with an overwhelming flood(AB)
he will make an end of Nineveh;
he will pursue his foes into the realm of darkness.
9 Whatever they plot(AC) against the Lord
he will bring[a] to an end;
trouble will not come a second time.
10 They will be entangled among thorns(AD)
and drunk(AE) from their wine;
they will be consumed like dry stubble.[b](AF)
11 From you, Nineveh, has one come forth
who plots evil against the Lord
and devises wicked plans.
12 This is what the Lord says:
“Although they have allies and are numerous,
they will be destroyed(AG) and pass away.
Although I have afflicted you, Judah,
I will afflict you no more.(AH)
13 Now I will break their yoke(AI) from your neck
and tear your shackles away.”(AJ)

2 God is jealous, and the Lord revengeth; the Lord revengeth, and is furious; the Lord will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies.
3 The Lord is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the Lord hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
4 He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth.
5 The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein.
6 Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.
7 The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.
8 But with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies.
9 What do ye imagine against the Lord? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.
10 For while they be folden together as thorns, and while they are drunken as drunkards, they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry.
11 There is one come out of thee, that imagineth evil against the Lord, a wicked counsellor.
12 Thus saith the Lord; Though they be quiet, and likewise many, yet thus shall they be cut down, when he shall pass through. Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more.
13 For now will I break his yoke from off thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder.
14 And the Lord hath given a commandment concerning thee, that no more of thy name be sown: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the graven image and the molten image: I will make thy grave; for thou art vile.
15 Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.
