4 За първия певец, на струнни инструменти. Давидов псалом.

Когато викам, послушай ме, Боже на правдата ми;
когато бях в утеснение, Ти ми даде простор;
смили се над мен и послушай молитвата ми.
²Човешки синове, докога ще обръщате славата ми в безчестие?
Докога ще обичате суета и ще търсите лъжа? (Села.)
³^(A)Знайте, че Господ е отделил за Себе Си Своя угодник;
Господ ще слуша, когато викам към Него.
⁴^(B)Треперете и не съгрешавайте;
размисляйте в сърцата си на леглата си и мълчете. (Села.)
⁵^(C)Принасяйте жертви на правда
и се надявайте на Господа.
⁶^(D)Мнозина казват: Кой ще ни покаже доброто?
Господи, издигни над нас светлината на лицето Си.
⁷^(E)Сложил си в сърцето ми радост,
по-голяма от тяхната, когато им се умножава житото и виното.
⁸^(F)Спокойно ще легна и ще спя,
защото само Ти, Господи, ме правиш да живея в безопасност.

4 Unto the end, in verses. A psalm for David.

²When I called upon him, the God of my justice heard me: when I was in distress, thou hast enlarged me. Have mercy on me: and hear my prayer.

³O ye sons of men, how long will you be dull of heart? why do you love vanity, and seek after lying?

⁴Know ye also that the Lord hath made his holy one wonderful: the Lord will hear me when I shall cry unto him.

⁵Be angry, and sin not: the things you say in your hearts, be sorry for them upon your beds.

⁶Offer up the sacrifice of justice, and trust in the Lord: many say, Who sheweth us good things?

⁷The light of thy countenance O Lord, is signed upon us: thou hast given gladness in my heart.

⁸By the fruit of their corn, their wine and oil, they are multiplied.

⁹In peace in the selfsame I will sleep, and I will rest:

¹⁰For thou, O Lord, singularly hast settled me in hope.

4 Answer me when I cry out, my righteous God!
    Set me free from my troubles!
        Have mercy on me!
        Listen to my prayer!

²How long, you people,
    will my reputation be insulted?
How long will you continue
    to love what is worthless
    and go after lies? Selah
³Know this: the Lord takes
    personal care of the faithful.
The Lord will hear me
    when I cry out to him.
⁴So be afraid, and don’t sin!
    Think hard about it in your bed
    and weep over it! Selah
⁵Bring righteous offerings,
    and trust the Lord!

⁶Many people say,
    “We can’t find goodness anywhere.
    The light of your face has left us, Lord!”^[a]
⁷But you have filled my heart with more joy
    than when their wheat and wine are everywhere!
⁸I will lie down and fall asleep in peace
    because you alone, Lord, let me live in safety.
