3 Аз съм човекът, който видях скръб от тоягата на Неговия гняв.
2 Той ме е водил и завел в тъмнина, а не във виделина.
3 Навярно против мене обръща повторно ръката Си всеки ден.
4 Застари месата ми и кожата ми; строши костите ми.
5 Издигна против мене <укрепления>; и окръжи ме с горест и труд.
6 Тури ме да седна в тъмнина като отдавна умрелите.
7 Обгради ме та не мога да изляза; отегчи веригите ми.
8 Още и когато викам и ридая, Той отблъсва молитвата ми.
9 Огради с дялани камъни пътищата ми; изкриви пътеките ми.
10 Стана ми като мечка в засада, като лъв в скришни места.
11 Отби настрана пътищата ми и ме разкъса; направи ме пуст.
12 Запъна лъка Си и ме постави като прицел на стрела,
13 Заби в бъбреците ми стрелите на тула Си.
14 Станах за присмех на всичките си люде, и за песен на тях цял ден.
15 Насити ме с горчивини; опи ме с пелин.
16 При това, счупи зъбите ми с камъчета; покри ме с пепел.
17 Отблъснал си душата ми далеч от мира; забравих благоденствието.
18 И рекох: Погина увереността ми и надеждата ми <като отдалечена> от Господа.
19 Помни скръбта ми и изпъждането ми, пелина и жлъчката.
20 Душата ми, като ги помни непрестанно, се е дълбоко смирила.
21 <Обаче>, това си наумявам, поради което имам и надежда:
22 Че по милост Господна ние не се довършихме, понеже не чезнат щедростите Му.
23 Те се подновяват всяка заран; голяма е Твоята вярност.
24 Господ е дял мой, казва душата ми; затова ще се надявам на Него.
25 Благ е Господ към ония, които Го чакат, към душата, която Го търси.
26 Добро е да се надява някой и тихо да очаква спасението от Господа.
27 Добро е за човека да носи хомот в младостта си.
28 Нека седи насаме и мълчи, когато <Господ> му го наложи.
29 Нека тури устата си в пръстта негли има още надежда.
30 Нека подаде бузата си на онзи, който го бие; нека се насити с укор.
31 Защото Господ не отхвърля до века.
32 Понеже, ако и да наскърби, Той пак ще и да се съжали според многото Си милости.
33 Защото не оскърбява нито огорчава от сърце човешките чада.
34 Да се тъпчат под нозе всичките затворници на света,
35 Да се извраща съдът на човека пред лицето на Всевишния,
36 Да се онеправдава човека в делото му, - Господ не одобрява това.
37 Кой ще е онзи, който казва нещо, и то става, без да го е заповядал Господ?
38 Из устата на Всевишния не излизат ли и злото и доброто?
39 Защо би пороптал жив човек, всеки за наказанието на греховете си?
40 Нека издирим и изпитаме пътищата си, и нека се върнем при Господа.
41 Нека издигнем сърцата си и ръцете си към Бога, <Който е> на небесата, <и нека речем>:
42 Съгрешихме и отстъпихме; Ти не си ни простил.
43 Покрил си се с гняв и гонил си ни, убил си без да пощадиш.
44 Покрил си се с облак, за да не премине молитвата ни.
45 Направил си ни като помия и смет всред племената.
46 Всичките ни неприятели отвориха широко устата си против нас.
47 Страхът и пропастта ни налетяха, запустение и разорение.
48 Водни потоци излива окото ми поради разорението на дъщерята на людете ми.
49 Окото ми пролива <сълзи> и не престава, защото няма отрада.
50 Докато не се наведе Господ и не погледне от небесата.
51 Окото ми прави душата ми да ме боли поради всичките дъщери на града ми.
52 Ония, които ми са неприятели без причина, ме гонят непрестанно като птиче.
53 Отнеха живота ми в тъмницата, и хвърлиха камък върху мене.
54 Води стигнаха над главата ми; рекох: Свърших се.
55 Призовах името Ти, Господи, от най-дълбоката тъмница.
56 Ти чу гласа ми; не затваряй ухото Си за въздишането ми, за вопъла ми;
57 Приближил си се в деня, когато Те призовах, рекъл си: Не бой се.
58 Застъпил си се Господи, за делото на душата ми; изкупил си живота ми.
59 Видял си, Господи, онеправданието ми; отсъди делото ми.
60 Видял си всичките им отмъщения и всичките им замисли против мене.
61 Ти си чул, Господи, укоряването им и всичките им замисли против мене,
62 Думите на ония, които се подигат против мене цял ден.
63 Виж, кога седят и кога стават аз им съм песен.
64 Ще им въздадеш, Господи, въздаяние според делата на ръцете им;
65 Ще им дадеш, <като> клетвата Си върху тях, окаменено сърце;
66 Ще ги прогониш с гняв, и ще ги изтребиш изпод небесата Господни.

Dưới làn roi phẫn nộ của Ngài.
2 Ngài dẫn tôi, Ngài đưa tôi đi
Vào nơi tối tăm, không ánh sáng.
3 Thật Ngài trở tay chống lại tôi,
Liên tục suốt ngày.
4 Ngài khiến da thịt tôi hao mòn,
Ngài bẻ gãy xương cốt tôi.
5 Ngài dùng cay đắng và hoạn nạn
Bao vây tôi, bao phủ tôi.
6 Ngài bỏ tôi nơi tối tăm,
Như người chết lâu đời.
7 Ngài đắp lũy chung quanh tôi, tôi không thoát ra được,
Ngài xiềng tôi bằng dây xích nặng.
8 Mặc tôi kêu la cầu cứu.
Ngài bịt tai, chẳng nghe lời cầu nguyện tôi.
9 Ngài dùng đá chặn đường tôi,
Bẻ cong đường lối tôi.
10 Ngài đối với tôi khác nào gấu rình mồi,
Sư tử núp chực sẵn.
11 Ngài lôi tôi ra khỏi đường cái, xé tôi tan nát.
Ngài bỏ tôi cô quạnh.
12 Ngài giương cung, và đặt tôi xuống,
Làm mục tiêu cho mũi tên Ngài.
13 Ngài bắn vào tim tôi
Các mũi tên trong bao Ngài.
14 Tôi thành trò cười cho mọi người,
Chúng hát chế nhạo tôi suốt ngày.
15 Ngài cho tôi ăn cỏ đắng chán chê,
Uống ngải cứu đến phát ngấy.
16 Ngài mài răng tôi trên sỏi,
Khiến tôi nằm co quắp trong tro.
17 Ngài ném tôi ra khỏi sự an lành,
Tôi quên, không còn biết phước hạnh là gì.
18 Tôi tự nhủ: Sức chịu đựng tôi tiêu tan,
Tôi không còn hy vọng gì nơi CHÚA cả.
19 Xin nhớ đến cảnh lưu đày khốn khổ của tôi,
Ngải cứu và cỏ đắng.
20 Tôi thật nhớ mãi,
Và lòng tôi chùn xuống.
21 Nhưng điều này tôi sực nhớ,
Do đó tôi hy vọng.
22 Vì cớ tình yêu thương thành tín của CHÚA, chúng tôi không bị tiêu diệt,[a]
Lòng thương xót của Ngài chẳng dứt.
23 Nhưng tươi mới luôn mỗi buổi sáng;
Sự thành tín của Ngài lớn thay!
24 Tôi tự nhủ: “CHÚA là phần sản nghiệp của tôi,
Do đó tôi hy vọng nơi Ngài.
25 CHÚA nhân từ đối với người trông đợi Ngài,
Đối với người tìm kiếm Ngài.
26 Tốt thay cho người yên lặng hy vọng nơi
Sự cứu giúp từ CHÚA!
27 Tốt thay cho người mang ách khi còn tráng kiện!
28 Người hãy ngồi riêng ra, yên lặng,
Khi CHÚA đặt ách trên người.
29 Người hãy đặt miệng kề bụi đất,
Biết đâu còn hy vọng!
30 Người hãy đưa má cho người khác vả,
Nín chịu sỉ nhục ê chề.
31 Vì Chúa không từ bỏ mãi mãi,
32 Nhưng dù Ngài gây đau khổ, Ngài sẽ thương xót
Tùy theo tình yêu thành tín dư dật của Ngài.
33 Vì Ngài không vui lòng hành hạ,
Hoặc gây đau khổ cho loài người.
34 Giày đạp dưới chân
Mọi tù nhân trên đất.
35 Tước đoạt quyền lợi của người
Trước sự hiện diện của Đấng Tối Cao.
36 Bóp méo công lý của người,
Chúa há không thấy sao?
37 Ai phán, và điều ấy xảy ra?
Chúa há chẳng ra lịnh sao?
38 Há chẳng phải từ miệng Đấng Tối Cao
Mà ra tai họa, phước lành sao?
39 Cớ sao người đang sống lại than phiền
Khi bị sửa phạt vì tội mình phạm?
40 Chúng ta khá xét và thử đường lối mình,
Và trở về cùng CHÚA!
41 Chúng ta khá giơ cả lòng và tay lên
Hướng về Đức Chúa Trời trên trời cao!
42 Chúng tôi có phạm tội và bội nghịch,
Ngài không tha thứ.
43 Ngài bao phủ mình bằng thịnh nộ và săn đuổi chúng tôi.
Ngài sát hại, chẳng xót thương.
44 Ngài bao phủ mình bằng đám mây,
Hầu cho không lời khấn nguyện nào vượt qua khỏi.
45 Ngài khiến chúng tôi nên cặn bã và rác rưới
Giữa các dân.
46 Mọi kẻ thù địch chúng tôi
Há toác miệng nhạo báng chúng tôi.
47 Hoảng sợ và cạm bẫy,
Điêu tàn và đổ nát giáng trên chúng tôi.
48 Mắt tôi tuôn tràn giọt lệ như dòng nước,
Vì con gái dân tôi bị hủy diệt.
49 Mắt tôi trào lệ không ngừng,
Không nghỉ.
50 Cho đến khi CHÚA từ trời cao nhìn xuống
Và xem thấy.
51 Mắt tôi khiến tôi đau xót
Vì số phận các thiếu nữ trong thành.
52 Kẻ thù vô cớ
Săn đuổi tôi ráo riết như săn chim.
53 Chúng tìm cách diệt mạng sống tôi trong hố,
Chúng ném đá tôi.
54 Nước phủ lút đầu tôi;
Tôi tự nhủ: ‘Tôi chết mất rồi!’
55 Tôi kêu cầu danh Ngài, hỡi CHÚA,
Từ nơi hố sâu.
56 Ngài nghe tiếng tôi.
‘Xin chớ bịt tai Ngài khỏi tiếng kêu xin cứu giúp của tôi!’
57 Ngài đến gần trong ngày tôi kêu cầu.
Ngài phán: ‘Chớ sợ!’
58 Chúa binh vực duyên cớ tôi.
Ngài cứu mạng sống tôi.
59 Hỡi CHÚA, Ngài nhìn thấy tôi bị áp bức,
Xin Ngài xét lẽ công bình cho tôi!
60 Ngài nhìn thấy sự trả thù của chúng,
Mọi âm mưu chúng chống lại tôi.
61 Hỡi CHÚA. Ngài nghe lời chúng mắng nhiếc tôi,
Mọi âm mưu chúng chống lại tôi.
62 Môi miếng và tư tưởng của kẻ thù địch tôi
Chống nghịch tôi suốt ngày.
63 Xin Ngài đoái xem, khi chúng ngồi khi chúng đứng,
Chúng hát chế nhạo tôi.
64 Hỡi CHÚA, xin báo trả chúng
Tùy theo công việc tay chúng làm!
65 Xin ban cho chúng lòng cứng cỏi.
Xin giáng tai họa trên chúng!
66 Xin săn đuổi chúng trong cơn giận của Ngài,

3 [a]I am the man who has seen affliction(A)
by the rod of the Lord’s wrath.(B)
2 He has driven me away and made me walk
in darkness(C) rather than light;
3 indeed, he has turned his hand against me(D)
again and again, all day long.
4 He has made my skin and my flesh grow old(E)
and has broken my bones.(F)
5 He has besieged me and surrounded me
with bitterness(G) and hardship.(H)
6 He has made me dwell in darkness
like those long dead.(I)
7 He has walled me in so I cannot escape;(J)
he has weighed me down with chains.(K)
8 Even when I call out or cry for help,(L)
he shuts out my prayer.(M)
9 He has barred(N) my way with blocks of stone;
he has made my paths crooked.(O)
10 Like a bear lying in wait,
like a lion(P) in hiding,(Q)
11 he dragged me from the path and mangled(R) me
and left me without help.
12 He drew his bow(S)
and made me the target(T) for his arrows.(U)
13 He pierced(V) my heart
with arrows from his quiver.(W)
14 I became the laughingstock(X) of all my people;(Y)
they mock me in song(Z) all day long.
15 He has filled me with bitter herbs
and given me gall to drink.(AA)
16 He has broken my teeth with gravel;(AB)
he has trampled me in the dust.(AC)
17 I have been deprived of peace;
I have forgotten what prosperity is.
18 So I say, “My splendor is gone
and all that I had hoped from the Lord.”(AD)
19 I remember my affliction and my wandering,
the bitterness(AE) and the gall.(AF)
20 I well remember them,
and my soul is downcast(AG) within me.(AH)
21 Yet this I call to mind
and therefore I have hope:
22 Because of the Lord’s great love(AI) we are not consumed,(AJ)
for his compassions never fail.(AK)
23 They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.(AL)
24 I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion;(AM)
therefore I will wait for him.”
25 The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him,
to the one who seeks him;(AN)
26 it is good to wait quietly(AO)
for the salvation of the Lord.(AP)
27 It is good for a man to bear the yoke
while he is young.
28 Let him sit alone in silence,(AQ)
for the Lord has laid it on him.
29 Let him bury his face in the dust(AR)—
there may yet be hope.(AS)
30 Let him offer his cheek to one who would strike him,(AT)
and let him be filled with disgrace.(AU)
31 For no one is cast off
by the Lord forever.(AV)
32 Though he brings grief, he will show compassion,
so great is his unfailing love.(AW)
33 For he does not willingly bring affliction
or grief to anyone.(AX)
34 To crush underfoot
all prisoners in the land,
35 to deny people their rights
before the Most High,(AY)
36 to deprive them of justice—
would not the Lord see such things?(AZ)
37 Who can speak and have it happen
if the Lord has not decreed it?(BA)
38 Is it not from the mouth of the Most High
that both calamities and good things come?(BB)
39 Why should the living complain
when punished for their sins?(BC)
40 Let us examine our ways and test them,(BD)
and let us return to the Lord.(BE)
41 Let us lift up our hearts and our hands
to God in heaven,(BF) and say:
42 “We have sinned and rebelled(BG)
and you have not forgiven.(BH)
43 “You have covered yourself with anger and pursued(BI) us;
you have slain without pity.(BJ)
44 You have covered yourself with a cloud(BK)
so that no prayer(BL) can get through.(BM)
45 You have made us scum(BN) and refuse
among the nations.
46 “All our enemies have opened their mouths
wide(BO) against us.(BP)
47 We have suffered terror and pitfalls,(BQ)
ruin and destruction.(BR)”
48 Streams of tears(BS) flow from my eyes(BT)
because my people are destroyed.(BU)
49 My eyes will flow unceasingly,
without relief,(BV)
50 until the Lord looks down
from heaven and sees.(BW)
51 What I see brings grief to my soul
because of all the women of my city.
52 Those who were my enemies without cause
hunted me like a bird.(BX)
53 They tried to end my life in a pit(BY)
and threw stones at me;
54 the waters closed over my head,(BZ)
and I thought I was about to perish.(CA)
55 I called on your name, Lord,
from the depths(CB) of the pit.(CC)
56 You heard my plea:(CD) “Do not close your ears
to my cry for relief.”
57 You came near(CE) when I called you,
and you said, “Do not fear.”(CF)
58 You, Lord, took up my case;(CG)
you redeemed my life.(CH)
59 Lord, you have seen the wrong done to me.(CI)
Uphold my cause!(CJ)
60 You have seen the depth of their vengeance,
all their plots against me.(CK)

3 I Am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.
2 He hath led me, and brought me into darkness, but not into light.
3 Surely against me is he turned; he turneth his hand against me all the day.
4 My flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones.
5 He hath builded against me, and compassed me with gall and travail.
6 He hath set me in dark places, as they that be dead of old.
7 He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.
8 Also when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.
9 He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.
10 He was unto me as a bear lying in wait, and as a lion in secret places.
11 He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces: he hath made me desolate.
12 He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
13 He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.
14 I was a derision to all my people; and their song all the day.
15 He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath made me drunken with wormwood.
16 He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath covered me with ashes.
17 And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I forgat prosperity.
18 And I said, My strength and my hope is perished from the Lord:
19 Remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.
20 My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.
21 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
22 It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
24 The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
25 The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.
27 It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.
28 He sitteth alone and keepeth silence, because he hath borne it upon him.
29 He putteth his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope.
30 He giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.
31 For the Lord will not cast off for ever:
32 But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.
33 For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.
34 To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth.
35 To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High,
36 To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not.
37 Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?
38 Out of the mouth of the most High proceedeth not evil and good?
39 Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?
40 Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord.
41 Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.
42 We have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned.
43 Thou hast covered with anger, and persecuted us: thou hast slain, thou hast not pitied.
44 Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that our prayer should not pass through.
45 Thou hast made us as the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people.
46 All our enemies have opened their mouths against us.
47 Fear and a snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction.
48 Mine eye runneth down with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
49 Mine eye trickleth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission.
50 Till the Lord look down, and behold from heaven.
51 Mine eye affecteth mine heart because of all the daughters of my city.
52 Mine enemies chased me sore, like a bird, without cause.
53 They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone upon me.
54 Waters flowed over mine head; then I said, I am cut off.
55 I called upon thy name, O Lord, out of the low dungeon.
56 Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my breathing, at my cry.
57 Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee: thou saidst, Fear not.
58 O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.
59 O Lord, thou hast seen my wrong: judge thou my cause.
60 Thou hast seen all their vengeance and all their imaginations against me.
61 Thou hast heard their reproach, O Lord, and all their imaginations against me;
62 The lips of those that rose up against me, and their device against me all the day.
63 Behold their sitting down, and their rising up; I am their musick.
64 Render unto them a recompence, O Lord, according to the work of their hands.
65 Give them sorrow of heart, thy curse unto them.
66 Persecute and destroy them in anger from under the heavens of the Lord.
