Всевышний заключает священное соглашение с Ибрамом
15 После этого Вечный обратился к Ибраму в видении:
– Не бойся, Ибрам. Я – твой щит; награда твоя будет весьма велика.
2 Но Ибрам сказал:
– О Владыка Вечный, что Ты можешь мне дать, если я остаюсь бездетным, и моё имущество унаследует Элиезер из Дамаска?
3 Ибрам добавил:
– Ты не дал мне детей, и слуга моего дома станет моим наследником.
4 В ответ было ему слово Вечного:
– Он не станет твоим наследником; от семени твоего будет тебе наследник.
5 Вечный вывел его наружу и сказал:
– Взгляни на небеса и сосчитай звёзды, если можешь их сосчитать.
И сказал ему:
– Так многочисленно будет твоё потомство.
6 Ибрам поверил Вечному, и Он вменил ему это в праведность.
7 Ещё Он сказал ему:
– Я Вечный, Который вывел тебя из Ура Халдейского, чтобы дать тебе во владение эту землю.
8 Но Ибрам спросил:
– О Владыка Вечный, как мне убедиться, что я буду владеть ею?
9 Вечный сказал ему:
– Приведи Мне трёхлетнюю телицу, трёхлетнюю козу и трёхлетнего барашка, а также принеси горлицу и молодого голубя.
10 Ибрам так и сделал. Он рассёк их пополам и разложил половины одну напротив другой; но птиц он не рассёк пополам. 11 Хищные птицы слетались на трупы, но Ибрам отгонял их. 12 Когда солнце начало садиться, Ибрама охватил глубокий сон; и тут кромешная тьма опустилась, и ужас объял его.
13 Вечный сказал ему:
– Знай же, что твои потомки будут странниками в чужой земле; они будут обращены в рабство и будут терпеть зло четыреста лет. 14 Но Я накажу народ, поработивший их, и тогда они выйдут оттуда с большим имуществом. 15 Ты отойдёшь к отцам своим в мире и будешь погребён в глубокой старости. 16 В четвёртом поколении[a] твои потомки вернутся сюда, потому что грех аморреев ещё не достиг полной меры.
17 Когда солнце село и стало темно, вдруг появились дымящаяся жаровня с пылающим факелом и прошли между рассечёнными кусками. 18 В тот день Вечный заключил священное соглашение с Ибрамом и сказал:
– Я отдаю твоим потомкам эту землю, от египетской реки[b] до великой реки Евфрата: 19 землю кенеев, кенезеев, кедмонеев, 20 хеттов, перизеев, рефаитов, 21 аморреев, хананеев, иевусеев и гиргашеев.

15 After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram (B)in a vision, saying, (C)“Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your (D)shield, [a]your exceedingly (E)great reward.”
2 (F)But Abram said, “Lord God, what will You give me, (G)seeing I [b]go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” 3 Then Abram said, “Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed (H)one[c] born in my house is my heir!”
4 And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “This one shall not be your heir, but one who (I)will come from your own body shall be your heir.” 5 Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and (J)count the (K)stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, (L)“So shall your (M)descendants be.”
6 And he (N)believed in the Lord, and He (O)accounted it to him for righteousness.
7 Then He said to him, “I am the Lord, who (P)brought you out of (Q)Ur of the Chaldeans, (R)to give you this land to inherit it.”
8 And he said, “Lord God, (S)how shall I know that I will inherit it?”
9 So He said to him, “Bring Me a three-year-old heifer, a three-year-old female goat, a three-year-old ram, a turtledove, and a young pigeon.” 10 Then he brought all these to Him and (T)cut them in two, down the middle, and placed each piece opposite the other; but he did not cut (U)the birds in two. 11 And when the vultures came down on the carcasses, Abram drove them away.
12 Now when the sun was going down, (V)a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, horror and great darkness fell upon him. 13 Then He said to Abram: “Know certainly (W)that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and (X)they will afflict them four hundred years. 14 And also the nation whom they serve (Y)I will judge; afterward (Z)they shall come out with great possessions. 15 Now as for you, (AA)you shall [d]go (AB)to your fathers in peace; (AC)you shall be buried at a good old age. 16 But (AD)in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the iniquity (AE)of the Amorites (AF)is not yet complete.”
17 And it came to pass, when the sun went down and it was dark, that behold, there appeared a smoking oven and a burning torch that (AG)passed between those pieces. 18 On the same day the Lord (AH)made a covenant with Abram, saying:
(AI)“To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates— 19 the Kenites, the Kenezzites, the Kadmonites, 20 the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, 21 the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.”

15 Después de esto, el Señor le habló a Abram en una visión y le dijo:
—No tengas miedo, Abram, porque yo soy tu protector. Tu recompensa va a ser muy grande.
2-3 Pero Abram le contestó:
—Señor y Dios, ¿de qué me sirve que me des recompensa, si tú bien sabes que no tengo hijos? Como no me has dado ningún hijo, el heredero de todo lo que tengo va a ser Eliézer de Damasco, uno de mis criados.
4 El Señor le contestó:
—Tu heredero va a ser tu propio hijo, y no un extraño.
5 Entonces el Señor llevó a Abram afuera, y le dijo:
—Mira bien el cielo, y cuenta las estrellas, si es que puedes contarlas. Pues bien, así será el número de tus descendientes.
6 Abram creyó al Señor, y por eso el Señor lo aceptó como justo 7 y le dijo:
—Yo soy el Señor; yo te saqué de Ur de los caldeos para darte esta tierra como herencia.
8 —Pero, Señor y Dios, ¿cómo podré estar seguro de que voy a heredar esta tierra? —contestó Abram.
9 Y Dios le dijo:
—Tráeme una ternera, una cabra y un carnero, de tres años cada uno, y también una tórtola y un pichón de paloma.
10 Abram trajo todos estos animales a Dios, los partió por la mitad y puso una mitad frente a otra; pero no partió las aves. 11 Y los buitres bajaban sobre los cuerpos de los animales muertos, pero Abram los espantaba. 12 Cuando empezaba a anochecer, Abram se quedó profundamente dormido. De pronto lo rodeó una gran oscuridad y sintió mucho miedo. 13 Entonces el Señor le dijo:
—Debes saber que tus descendientes vivirán en un país extranjero, y que allí serán esclavos, y que serán maltratados durante cuatrocientos años. 14 Pero yo también castigaré a la nación que va a hacerlos esclavos, y después tus descendientes saldrán libres y dueños de grandes riquezas. 15 Por lo que a ti toca, morirás en paz cuando ya seas muy anciano, y así te reunirás con tus antepasados. 16 Después de cuatro generaciones, tus descendientes regresarán a este lugar, porque todavía no ha llegado al colmo la maldad de los amorreos.
17 Cuando ya era de noche y todo estaba oscuro, apareció un horno que echaba humo y una antorcha encendida que pasaba por en medio de los animales partidos. 18 Aquel mismo día el Señor hizo una alianza con Abram y le dijo:
—Esta tierra se la daré a tus descendientes, desde el río de Egipto hasta el río grande, el Éufrates. 19 Es decir, la tierra de los quenitas, los quenizitas, los cadmoneos, 20 los hititas, los ferezeos, los refaítas, 21 los amorreos, los cananeos, los gergeseos y los jebuseos.

The Lord’s Covenant With Abram
15 After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram(A) in a vision:(B)
2 But Abram said, “Sovereign Lord,(F) what can you give me since I remain childless(G) and the one who will inherit[c] my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?(H)” 3 And Abram said, “You have given me no children; so a servant(I) in my household(J) will be my heir.”
4 Then the word of the Lord came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.(K)” 5 He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars(L)—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring[d] be.”(M)
6 Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.(N)
7 He also said to him, “I am the Lord, who brought you out(O) of Ur of the Chaldeans(P) to give you this land to take possession of it.”(Q)
8 But Abram said, “Sovereign Lord,(R) how can I know(S) that I will gain possession of it?”(T)
9 So the Lord said to him, “Bring me a heifer,(U) a goat and a ram, each three years old,(V) along with a dove and a young pigeon.(W)”
10 Abram brought all these to him, cut them in two and arranged the halves opposite each other;(X) the birds, however, he did not cut in half.(Y) 11 Then birds of prey came down on the carcasses,(Z) but Abram drove them away.
12 As the sun was setting, Abram fell into a deep sleep,(AA) and a thick and dreadful darkness came over him. 13 Then the Lord said to him, “Know for certain that for four hundred years(AB) your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own and that they will be enslaved(AC) and mistreated there. 14 But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves, and afterward they will come out(AD) with great possessions.(AE) 15 You, however, will go to your ancestors(AF) in peace and be buried at a good old age.(AG) 16 In the fourth generation(AH) your descendants will come back here,(AI) for the sin of the Amorites(AJ) has not yet reached its full measure.”
17 When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, a smoking firepot with a blazing torch(AK) appeared and passed between the pieces.(AL) 18 On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram(AM) and said, “To your descendants I give this land,(AN) from the Wadi[e] of Egypt(AO) to the great river, the Euphrates(AP)— 19 the land of the Kenites,(AQ) Kenizzites, Kadmonites, 20 Hittites,(AR) Perizzites,(AS) Rephaites,(AT) 21 Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites and Jebusites.”(AU)
