Слово на Йеремия към юдейския цар Седекия
34 (A)Словото, което дойде към Йеремия от Господа, когато вавилонският цар Навуходоносор, цялата му войска, всички царства на света, които бяха под властта му, и всички племена воюваха против Йерусалим и против всичките му градове:
2 (B)Така казва Господ, Израилевият Бог: Иди и говори на Юдейския цар Седекия: Така казва Господ: Ето, ще предам този град в ръката на вавилонския цар, който ще го изгори с огън.
3 (C)И ти няма да избегнеш от ръката му, а непременно ще бъдеш хванат и предаден в ръката му; и ти и вавилонският цар ще се погледнете очи в очи и ще говорите уста с уста, и ще отидеш във Вавилон.
4 Обаче, Седекия, царю Юдейски, слушай Господнето слово; така казва Господ за тебе: Няма да умреш от меч;
5 (D)мирно ще умреш; и каквито изгаряния на благовония правеха за бащите ти, предишните царе, които те предшестваха, такива изгаряния ще направят и за теб; и ще те оплачат, като кажат: Уви! Господарю! Защото Аз изговорих това слово, казва Господ.
6 Тогава пророк Йеремия предаде на Юдейския цар Седекия всички тези думи в Йерусалим,
7 (E)когато още войската на вавилонския цар се биеше против Йерусалим и против всичките останали Юдейски градове – против Лахис и Азика; защото от укрепените Юдейски градове само те бяха останали.
Послание за освобождаване на робите
8 (F)Словото, което дойде към Йеремия от Господа, след като цар Седекия беше сключил завет с целия народ, който беше в Йерусалим, за да прогласят помежду си освобождение,
9 (G)така че всеки да пусне на свобода слугата си и всеки слугинята си, евреин или еврейка, за да не държи никой брат си юдеин за слуга.
10 И всички първенци и целият народ, които встъпиха в завета, бяха послушали всеки да пусне на свобода слугата си и всеки слугинята си, така че да не ги държат вече за слуги; бяха послушали и бяха ги пуснали;
11 (H)но после се бяха отметнали, като накараха да се върнат слугите и слугините, които бяха пуснали на свобода, и ги подчиниха да бъдат слуги и слугини.
12 Затова Господнето слово дойде към Йеремия от Господа и каза:
13 Така казва Господ, Израилевият Бог: Аз сключих завет с бащите ви – в деня, когато ги изведох от Египетската земя, от дома на робството, като казах:
14 (I)В края на всеки седем години пускайте всеки брат си евреина, който ти се е продал и ти е слугувал шест години – да го пускаш на свобода от тебе. Но бащите ви не Ме послушаха, нито приклониха ухото си.
15 (J)И вие сега се бяхте обърнали и бяхте извършили това, което е право пред Мене, като прогласихте всеки освобождение на ближния си; и бяхте сключили завет пред Мене в дома, който се нарича с Моето име;
16 (K)но се отметнахте и осквернихте името Ми, като накарахте всеки слугата си и всеки слугинята си, които бяхте пуснали на свобода по волята им, да се върнат и ги подчинихте да ви бъдат слуги и слугини.
17 (L)Затова така казва Господ: Вие не Ме послушахте да прогласите освобождение всеки на брат си и всеки на ближния си; ето, казва Господ, Аз прогласявам против вас свобода на меча, мора и глада; и ще ви предам да бъдете тласкани по всички царства на света.
18 (M)И ще предам хората, които са престъпили завета Ми, които не са изпълнили думите на завета, който сключиха пред Мене, когато разсякоха телето на две и минаха между частите му,
19 юдейските първенци и йерусалимските първенци, евнусите и свещениците, и целия народ на тази земя, които минаха между частите на телето –

Warning to Zedekiah
34 While Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army and all the kingdoms and peoples(A) in the empire he ruled were fighting against Jerusalem(B) and all its surrounding towns, this word came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 2 “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Go to Zedekiah(C) king of Judah and tell him, ‘This is what the Lord says: I am about to give this city into the hands of the king of Babylon, and he will burn it down.(D) 3 You will not escape from his grasp but will surely be captured and given into his hands.(E) You will see the king of Babylon with your own eyes, and he will speak with you face to face. And you will go to Babylon.
4 “‘Yet hear the Lord’s promise to you, Zedekiah king of Judah. This is what the Lord says concerning you: You will not die by the sword;(F) 5 you will die peacefully. As people made a funeral fire(G) in honor of your predecessors, the kings who ruled before you, so they will make a fire in your honor and lament, “Alas,(H) master!” I myself make this promise, declares the Lord.’”
6 Then Jeremiah the prophet told all this to Zedekiah king of Judah, in Jerusalem, 7 while the army of the king of Babylon was fighting against Jerusalem and the other cities of Judah that were still holding out—Lachish(I) and Azekah.(J) These were the only fortified cities left in Judah.
Freedom for Slaves
8 The word came to Jeremiah from the Lord after King Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people(K) in Jerusalem to proclaim freedom(L) for the slaves. 9 Everyone was to free their Hebrew slaves, both male and female; no one was to hold a fellow Hebrew in bondage.(M) 10 So all the officials and people who entered into this covenant agreed that they would free their male and female slaves and no longer hold them in bondage. They agreed, and set them free. 11 But afterward they changed their minds(N) and took back the slaves they had freed and enslaved them again.
12 Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: 13 “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I made a covenant with your ancestors(O) when I brought them out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.(P) I said, 14 ‘Every seventh year each of you must free any fellow Hebrews who have sold themselves to you. After they have served you six years, you must let them go free.’[a](Q) Your ancestors, however, did not listen to me or pay attention(R) to me. 15 Recently you repented and did what is right in my sight: Each of you proclaimed freedom to your own people.(S) You even made a covenant before me in the house that bears my Name.(T) 16 But now you have turned around(U) and profaned(V) my name; each of you has taken back the male and female slaves you had set free to go where they wished. You have forced them to become your slaves again.
17 “Therefore this is what the Lord says: You have not obeyed me; you have not proclaimed freedom to your own people. So I now proclaim ‘freedom’ for you,(W) declares the Lord—‘freedom’ to fall by the sword, plague(X) and famine.(Y) I will make you abhorrent to all the kingdoms of the earth.(Z) 18 Those who have violated my covenant(AA) and have not fulfilled the terms of the covenant they made before me, I will treat like the calf they cut in two and then walked between its pieces.(AB) 19 The leaders of Judah and Jerusalem, the court officials,(AC) the priests and all the people of the land who walked between the pieces of the calf, 20 I will deliver(AD) into the hands of their enemies who want to kill them.(AE) Their dead bodies will become food for the birds and the wild animals.(AF)
21 “I will deliver Zedekiah(AG) king of Judah and his officials(AH) into the hands of their enemies(AI) who want to kill them, to the army of the king of Babylon,(AJ) which has withdrawn(AK) from you. 22 I am going to give the order, declares the Lord, and I will bring them back to this city. They will fight against it, take(AL) it and burn(AM) it down. And I will lay waste(AN) the towns of Judah so no one can live there.”

34 La palabra del Señor vino a Jeremías cuando Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, estaba atacando a Jerusalén y sus ciudades vecinas con todo su ejército y con todos los reinos y pueblos de la tierra regidos por él. 2 «Así dice el Señor, el Dios de Israel: “Ve y adviértele a Sedequías, rey de Judá, que así dice el Señor: ‘Voy a entregar esta ciudad en manos del rey de Babilonia, quien la incendiará. 3 Y tú no escaparás de su poder, porque ciertamente serás capturado y entregado en sus manos. Tus ojos verán los ojos del rey de Babilonia; él te hablará cara a cara y serás llevado a su tierra’.
4 »”No obstante, Sedequías, rey de Judá, escucha la promesa del Señor para ti. Así dice el Señor: ‘Tú no morirás a filo de espada, 5 sino en paz. Yo te prometo que, así como los reyes de antaño que te precedieron quemaron especias por tus antepasados, así también lo harán en tu funeral, lamentándose por ti y clamando: ¡Ay, señor!’ ”», afirma el Señor.
6 El profeta Jeremías dijo todo esto a Sedequías, rey de Judá, en Jerusalén. 7 Mientras tanto, el ejército del rey de Babilonia estaba combatiendo contra Jerusalén y contra las ciudades de Judá que aún quedaban: Laquis y Azeca. Porque solo quedaban esas ciudades de las fortificadas en Judá.
Liberación para los esclavos
8 La palabra del Señor vino a Jeremías después de que el rey Sedequías hizo un pacto con todo el pueblo de Jerusalén para dejar libres a los esclavos. 9 El acuerdo estipulaba que cada israelita debía dejar libre a sus esclavas y esclavos hebreos y que nadie debía esclavizar a un compatriota judío. 10 Todo el pueblo y los oficiales que habían hecho el acuerdo liberaron a sus esclavos, de manera que nadie quedaba obligado a servirlos. 11 Pero después cambiaron de idea y volvieron a someter a esclavitud a los que habían liberado.
12 Una vez más la palabra del Señor vino a Jeremías: 13 «Así dice el Señor, el Dios de Israel: “Yo hice un pacto con sus antepasados cuando los saqué de Egipto, lugar de esclavitud. Ordené 14 que cada siete años liberaran a todo esclavo hebreo que se hubiera vendido a sí mismo a ellos. Después de haber servido como esclavo durante seis años, debía ser liberado.[a] Pero sus antepasados no me obedecieron ni me hicieron caso. 15 Ustedes, en cambio, al proclamar la libertad de su prójimo, se habían convertido y habían hecho lo que yo apruebo. Además, se habían comprometido con un pacto en mi presencia, en la casa que lleva mi Nombre. 16 Pero ahora se han vuelto atrás y han profanado mi nombre. Cada uno ha obligado a sus esclavas y esclavos que había liberado a someterse de nuevo a la esclavitud”».
17 Por tanto, así dice el Señor: «No me han obedecido, pues no han dejado en libertad a sus hermanos. Por eso, yo proclamo contra ustedes una liberación», afirma el Señor. «Dejaré en libertad a la guerra, la pestilencia y el hambre. De esa manera, lo que les pase a ustedes servirá de escarmiento a todos los reinos de la tierra. 18 Puesto que han violado mi pacto y no han cumplido las estipulaciones del pacto que acordaron en mi presencia, los trataré como al becerro que cortaron en dos y entre cuyos pedazos pasaron para sellar el pacto.[b] 19 A los líderes de Judá y de Jerusalén, a los oficiales de la corte, a los sacerdotes y a todos los que pasaron entre los pedazos del becerro, 20 los entregaré en manos de sus enemigos que atentan contra su vida. Sus cadáveres servirán de alimento a las aves de rapiña y a las fieras del campo.
21 »A Sedequías, rey de Judá, y a sus oficiales, los entregaré en manos de sus enemigos que atentan contra sus vidas, es decir, en poder del ejército del rey de Babilonia, el cual se ha retirado por el momento. 22 Voy a dar una orden —afirma el Señor—, y los haré volver a esta ciudad. La atacarán y, luego de tomarla, la incendiarán. Dejaré a las ciudades de Judá en total ruina, sin habitantes».
