Предсказание за суша, война и глад
14 Господнето слово, което дойде към Йеремия за бездъждието:
2 (A)Юда ридае и хората в портите му са изнемощели;
седят на земята облечени в черно;
и викът на Йерусалим се издигна.
3 (B)Големците му пращат подчинените си за вода;
те отиват при кладенците, но не намират вода;
връщат се с празните си съдове;
посрамват се и се смущават, и покриват главите си.
4 Понеже земята се напука,
защото няма дъжд на земята,
затова орачите се посрамват,
покриват главите си.
5 Още и кошутата ражда на полето
и оставя рожбата си, понеже няма трева.
6 (C)И дивите осли, като застават по голите височини,
задушават се за въздух като чакали;
очите им чезнат, понеже няма трева.
7 (D)Господи, при все че беззаконията ни свидетелстват против нас,
Ти действай заради името Си;
защото отстъпничествата ни са много;
пред Тебе съгрешихме.
8 (E)Надеждо на Израил,
Спасителю негов в скръбно време,
защо да си като пришълец в тази страна
и като пътник, отбил се да пренощува?
9 (F)Защо да си като смаян човек,
като силен мъж, който не може да избави?
Обаче Ти, Господи, си сред нас;
ние се наричаме с Твоето име; не ни изоставяй.
10 (G)Така казва Господ на този народ:
Както обикнаха да се скитат
и не въздържаха краката си,
така Господ не благоволи към тях;
сега ще си спомни беззаконието им
и ще накаже греховете им.
11 (H)И Господ ми каза:
Недей се моли за доброто на този народ.
12 (I)Даже ако постят, няма да послушам вика им,
и ако принесат всеизгаряния и приноси,
няма да благоволя към тях;
а ще ги довърша с меч, глад и мор.
13 (J)Тогава казах: Уви, Господи Йехова!
Ето, пророците им казват:
Няма да видите меч, нито ще има глад у вас,
а ще ви дам сигурен мир на това място.
14 (K)Тогава Господ ми каза:
Лъжливо пророкуват пророците в името Ми;
Аз не съм ги пратил, нито съм им заповядал,
нито съм им говорил;
те ви пророкуват лъжливо видение, гадание,
суетата и измамата на своето сърце.
15 (L)Затова така казва Господ:
За пророците, които пророкуват в Моето име,
без да съм ги изпратил,
а които казват: Меч и глад няма да има в тази страна, –
с меч и глад ще бъдат изтребени тези пророци.
16 (M)А народът, на който те пророкуват,
ще бъдат изхвърлени от йерусалимските улици,
загинали от глад и меч;
и няма да има кой да ги заравя –
тях и жените им, синовете и дъщерите им;
защото ще излея върху тях собственото им зло.
17 (N)И ще им кажеш това слово:
Нека ронят очите ми сълзи нощем и денем,
без да престанат;
защото девицата, дъщерята на народа ми,
е поразена с голямо поразяване, с много люта рана.
18 (O)Ако изляза на полето –
ето убитите с меч!
А ако вляза в града –
ето изнемощелите от глад.
Дори пророкът и свещеникът
обходиха земята, но не знаят какво да се направи.
19 (P)Отхвърлил ли си съвсем Юда?
Погнусила ли се е душата Ти от Сион?
Защо си ни поразил и няма изцеление за нас?
Очаквахме мир, но никакво добро не дойде,
и време за изцеление, но, ето, смущение!
20 (Q)Признаваме, Господи, нечестието си
и беззаконието на бащите си,
защото сме съгрешили пред Тебе.
21 (R)Заради името Си недей се погнусява от нас,
не опозорявай славния Си престол;
спомни си, не нарушавай завета Си с нас.
22 (S)Между идолите на народите има ли някой да дава дъжд?
Или небето от себе си ли дава дъждове?
Не си ли Ти, Който даваш, Господи, Боже наш?
Затова Тебе чакаме,
защото Ти си сторил всичко това.

Sequía, hambre y espada
14 Esta es la palabra del Señor, que vino a Jeremías con motivo de la sequía:
2 «Judá está de luto
y sus ciudades desfallecen;
hay lamentos en el país,
y sube el clamor de Jerusalén.
3 Los nobles mandan por agua a sus siervos
y estos van a las cisternas,
pero no la encuentran.
Decepcionados y confundidos,
vuelven con sus cántaros vacíos
y con la cabeza cubierta.
4 El suelo está agrietado,
porque no llueve en la tierra.
Decepcionados están los agricultores,
con la cabeza cubierta.
5 Aun las ciervas en el campo
abandonan a sus crías
por falta de pastos.
6 Parados sobre las lomas desoladas
y con los ojos desfallecientes,
los asnos salvajes olfatean el viento como chacales
porque ya no tienen hierba».
7 Aunque nuestras iniquidades nos acusan,
actúa en razón de tu nombre, oh Señor.
Muchas son nuestras infidelidades;
contra ti hemos pecado.
8 Tú, esperanza y salvación de Israel
en momentos de angustia,
¿por qué actúas en nuestra tierra como un extraño,
como un viajero que solo pasa la noche?
9 ¿Por qué te comportas como un hombre tomado por sorpresa,
como un guerrero impotente para salvar?
Señor, tú estás en medio de nosotros
y se nos llama por tu nombre;
¡no nos abandones!
10 Así dice el Señor acerca de este pueblo:
«Les encanta vagabundear;
no refrenan sus pies.
Por eso yo no los acepto,
sino que voy a recordar sus iniquidades
y a castigar sus pecados».
11 Entonces el Señor me dijo: «No ruegues por el bienestar de este pueblo. 12 Aunque ayunen, no escucharé sus clamores; aunque me ofrezcan holocaustos y ofrendas de cereal, no los aceptaré. En verdad, voy a exterminarlos con la espada, el hambre y la plaga».
13 Pero yo respondí: «¡Ah, mi Señor y Dios! Los profetas les dicen que no se enfrentarán con la espada ni pasarán hambre, sino que tú concederás una paz duradera en este lugar».
14 El Señor me contestó: «Esos profetas están profetizando mentiras en mi nombre. Yo no los he enviado, ni he dado ninguna orden, ni siquiera les he hablado. Lo que están profetizando son visiones engañosas, adivinaciones vanas y delirios de su propia imaginación. 15 Por eso, así dice el Señor: “En cuanto a los profetas que profetizan en mi nombre sin que yo los haya enviado, y que además dicen que no habrá espada ni hambre en este país, ellos mismos morirán de hambre y a filo de espada. 16 Y el pueblo al que profetizan será arrojado a las calles de Jerusalén a causa del hambre y de la espada. No habrá quien los entierre, ni a ellos ni a sus esposas, ni a sus hijos ni a sus hijas. Y derramaré sobre ellos la calamidad que se merecen”.
17 »Tú les dirás lo siguiente:
»“Que mis ojos derramen lágrimas
día y noche, sin cesar,
porque la virginal hija de mi pueblo
ha sufrido una herida terrible,
un golpe muy duro.
18 Si salgo al campo,
veo los cuerpos de los muertos a filo de espada;
si entro en la ciudad,
veo los estragos que el hambre ha producido.
Tanto el profeta como el sacerdote
andan errantes en la tierra sin comprender nada”».
19 ¿Has rechazado por completo a Judá?
¿Detestas a Sión?
¿Por qué nos has herido de tal modo
que ya no tenemos remedio?
Esperábamos tiempos de paz,
pero nada bueno recibimos.
Esperábamos tiempos de salud,
pero solo nos llegó el terror.
20 Reconocemos, Señor, nuestra maldad
y la iniquidad de nuestros antepasados.
¡Hemos pecado contra ti!
21 En honor a tu nombre, no nos desprecies;
no deshonres tu trono glorioso.
¡Acuérdate de tu pacto con nosotros!
¡No lo quebrantes!
22 ¿Acaso hay entre los ídolos falsos
alguno que pueda hacer llover?
¿Pueden los cielos solos dar lluvia?
Solo tú, Señor y Dios nuestro,
puedes hacer todas estas cosas;
por eso nuestra esperanza está en ti.

Drought, Famine, Sword
14 This is the word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought:(A)
2 “Judah mourns,(B)
her cities languish;
they wail for the land,
and a cry goes up from Jerusalem.
3 The nobles send their servants for water;
they go to the cisterns
but find no water.(C)
They return with their jars unfilled;
dismayed and despairing,
they cover their heads.(D)
4 The ground is cracked
because there is no rain in the land;(E)
the farmers are dismayed
and cover their heads.
5 Even the doe in the field
deserts her newborn fawn
because there is no grass.(F)
6 Wild donkeys stand on the barren heights(G)
and pant like jackals;
their eyes fail
for lack of food.”(H)
7 Although our sins testify(I) against us,
do something, Lord, for the sake of your name.(J)
For we have often rebelled;(K)
we have sinned(L) against you.
8 You who are the hope(M) of Israel,
its Savior(N) in times of distress,(O)
why are you like a stranger in the land,
like a traveler who stays only a night?
9 Why are you like a man taken by surprise,
like a warrior powerless to save?(P)
You are among(Q) us, Lord,
and we bear your name;(R)
do not forsake(S) us!
10 This is what the Lord says about this people:
“They greatly love to wander;
they do not restrain their feet.(T)
So the Lord does not accept(U) them;
he will now remember(V) their wickedness
and punish them for their sins.”(W)
11 Then the Lord said to me, “Do not pray(X) for the well-being of this people. 12 Although they fast, I will not listen to their cry;(Y) though they offer burnt offerings(Z) and grain offerings,(AA) I will not accept(AB) them. Instead, I will destroy them with the sword,(AC) famine(AD) and plague.”(AE)
13 But I said, “Alas, Sovereign Lord! The prophets(AF) keep telling them, ‘You will not see the sword or suffer famine.(AG) Indeed, I will give you lasting peace(AH) in this place.’”
14 Then the Lord said to me, “The prophets are prophesying lies(AI) in my name. I have not sent(AJ) them or appointed them or spoken to them. They are prophesying to you false visions,(AK) divinations,(AL) idolatries[a] and the delusions of their own minds. 15 Therefore this is what the Lord says about the prophets who are prophesying in my name: I did not send them, yet they are saying, ‘No sword or famine will touch this land.’ Those same prophets will perish(AM) by sword and famine.(AN) 16 And the people they are prophesying to will be thrown out into the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and sword. There will be no one to bury(AO) them, their wives, their sons and their daughters.(AP) I will pour out on them the calamity they deserve.(AQ)
17 “Speak this word to them:
“‘Let my eyes overflow with tears(AR)
night and day without ceasing;
for the Virgin(AS) Daughter, my people,
has suffered a grievous wound,
a crushing blow.(AT)
18 If I go into the country,
I see those slain by the sword;
if I go into the city,
I see the ravages of famine.(AU)
Both prophet and priest
have gone to a land they know not.(AV)’”
19 Have you rejected Judah completely?(AW)
Do you despise Zion?
Why have you afflicted us
so that we cannot be healed?(AX)
We hoped for peace
but no good has come,
for a time of healing
but there is only terror.(AY)
20 We acknowledge(AZ) our wickedness, Lord,
and the guilt of our ancestors;(BA)
we have indeed sinned(BB) against you.
21 For the sake of your name(BC) do not despise us;
do not dishonor your glorious throne.(BD)
Remember your covenant(BE) with us
and do not break it.
22 Do any of the worthless idols(BF) of the nations bring rain?(BG)
Do the skies themselves send down showers?
No, it is you, Lord our God.
Therefore our hope is in you,
for you are the one who does all this.(BH)
