Господь – Утешитель Сиона
51 – Послушайте Меня, стремящиеся к правде
и ищущие Господа!
Взгляните на скалу, из которой вы вытесаны,
и на каменоломню, из которой вы извлечены;
2 взгляните на Авраама, вашего отца,
и на Сарру, родившую вас.
Когда Я призвал его, он был один,
но Я благословил его и умножил[a].
3 Так же Господь непременно утешит Сион,
утешит Он все его развалины;
Он сделает пустыни его, как Эдем,
пустоши его, как Господень сад.
Веселье и радость найдутся там,
благодарение и звуки песен.
4 Послушай Меня, народ Мой,
внимай Мне, Мое племя!
От Меня выйдет Закон;
Мое правосудие станет светом для народов.
5 Мое избавление близится быстро,
спасение Мое уже в пути,
Своей рукой Я установлю правосудие среди народов.
Будут ждать Меня острова
и на мышцу Мою надеяться.
6 Поднимите взгляд к небесам
и взгляните на землю внизу:
небеса рассеются, как дым,
а земля износится, как одежда,
и ее обитатели помрут, как комары[b].
Но Мое спасение будет вечным,
избавление Мое никогда не кончится.
7 Слушайте Меня, знающие правду,
народ, у которого в сердце Мой Закон:
не бойтесь упреков людей,
не страшитесь их оскорблений.
8 Потому что моль поест их, как одежду,
черви пожрут их, словно шерсть.
Но Мое избавление будет вечным,
спасение Мое – во все поколения.
9 Поднимись, поднимись,
облекись силой, мышца Господня!
Поднимись, как в минувшие дни,
как в поколения древности.
Разве не ты рассекла на куски Раава[c]
и пронзила это чудовище?
10 Разве не ты иссушила море,
воды великой бездны,
проложила дорогу в морских глубинах,
чтоб могли перейти искупленные?[d]
11 Избавленные Господом вернутся
и с пением придут на Сион;
их головы увенчает вечная радость.
Они обретут веселье и радость,
а скорбь и вздохи исчезнут.
12 – Я, Я Утешитель ваш.
Кто ты, что боишься смертных,
сыновей человека, которые вянут, как трава?
13 Ты забываешь Господа, своего Создателя,
распростершего небеса
и заложившего основания земли,
и живешь каждый день в постоянном страхе
из-за ярости притеснителя,
который стремится к разрушению.
Но где же ярость притеснителя?
14 Скоро узники будут освобождены,
они не умрут в темнице
и больше не будут нуждаться в хлебе.
15 Я – Господь, твой Бог,
возмущающий море так, что волны его ревут;
Господь Сил – имя Мое[e].
16 Я вложил Мои слова в уста твои
и прикрыл тебя тенью Моей руки.
Я простер небеса, положил основания земли
и сказал Сиону: «Ты – Мой народ».

17 Воспрянь, воспрянь,
встань, Иерусалим,
испивший из Господней руки
чашу Его гнева,
осушивший до самого дна
хмельную чашу.
18 Из всех рожденных им сыновей
некому было его вести;
из всех взращенных им сыновей
некому было взять его за руку.
19 Постигла тебя двойная беда –
кто о тебе поплачет? –
гибель и разорение, голод и меч –
кто может[f] тебя утешить?
20 Твои сыновья обессилели;
лежат они на углах всех улиц,
как антилопа в силках.
Они исполнены гнева Господня
и ярости нашего Бога.
21 Поэтому выслушай это, страдалец,
не от вина опьяневший.
22 Так говорит Владыка, Господь твой,
твой Бог, защищающий Свой народ:
– Вот, Я забрал из твоей руки чашу,
от которой ты опьянел;
из чаши той, кубка Моего гнева,
ты больше пить не будешь.
23 Я отдам ее в руки твоих мучителей,
говоривших тебе:
«Склонись, чтобы нам по тебе пройти».
И ты сделал спину свою как бы землею,
улицей, чтобы ходить по ней.

51 Многие из вас стремятся жить достойно,
вы обращаетесь за помощью к Богу.
2 Послушайте Меня,
вы должны вспомнить Авраама, отца вашего,
«скалу», от которой отколоты вы.
Авраам—ваш отец,
и вы должны смотреть на него и на Сарру,
которая вас родила.
Авраам был одинок, когда Я его призвал.
Получив Моё благословение,
он положил начало великой семье,
и многие потомки пошли от него.
3 Точно так Господь благословит и Сион,
Господь пожалеет его людей
и превратит его пустыню в сад,
подобный саду Эдема,
пустая земля превратится в Господний сад.
Люди будут счастливы и в радости своей
будут петь песни ликования и победы,
благодаря Бога за свершения Его.
4 Народ Мой, послушай Меня!
Мои решения будут светом,
который укажет людям,
как жить правильно.
5 Скоро явлю Я Мою справедливость
и скоро тебя спасу.
Силой Моей Я буду судить все народы.
Все страны далёкие на силу Мою надеются,
которая им поможет.
6 Взгляните на небеса и землю!
Небеса исчезнут словно дым,
а земля станет как дряхлая и ненужная одежда,
но вечным пребудет спасение Моё,
и не иссякнет Моя доброта.
7 Вы, следующие поучениям Моим
и знающие Мою доброту,
должны слушать, что Я говорю.
Злых людей не страшитесь,
их оскорбления пусть не тревожат вас.
8 Они станут дряхлой одеждой,
поедаемой молью,
деревом, источенным червём.
Но Моя доброта пребудет вечно,
Моё спасение продлится навеки.
Могущество Бога спасёт Его народ
9 Проснись, проснись!
Облекись в свою силу, рука Господняя!
Восстань, как в давние времена,
как при жизни древних поколений.
Разве не ты разрубила на части Рахаба,
разве не ты пронзила дракона?[a]
10 Разве не ты осушила море,
проложив спасённым путь по дну морскому,
чтобы они пересекли его?
11 Господь спасёт всех Своих людей.
Они на Сион возвратятся с великой радостью,
счастье им будет вечной короной на головах.
Они будут петь радостно,
и вся их печаль уйдёт.
12 Господь говорит:
«Я—Единственный, Кто утешает вас.
Зачем вы людей боитесь?
Они всего лишь люди,
они умирают подобно траве».
13 Я, Господь, создал вас.
Своей силой Я землю сотворил,
а также небеса над нею распростёр.
Но вы забываете силу Господнюю
и страшитесь тех, кто вас притесняет.
Они уничтожить хотели вас.
Но ныне где они? Их нет!
14 Скоро освобождён будет узник,
он не сгниёт в темнице,
он будет свободен и больше
не будет нуждаться в хлебе.
15 Я, Господь, ваш Бог,
поднимаю волны в море.
Имя Его—Господь Всемогущий!
16 «Слуга Мой,
Я вложу тебе в уста слова и защищу тебя.
Я воспользуюсь тобой,
чтобы устроить новые небеса,
насадить новую землю и сказать Сиону:
„Ты—Мой народ”».
Господь наказал Израиль
17 Проснись, Иерусалим, проснись!
Господь был на тебя в гневе и наказал тебя.
Ты испил чашу Господней ярости,
выпив её до дна.
Ты выпил ту полную чашу яда!
18 Много людей было в Иерусалиме,
но никто из них не смог его вести,
ни один из детей его не возглавил.
19 Беды пришли к Иерусалиму рука об руку:
воровство и опустошение,
великий голод и войны.
Никто тебе не помог в дни страданий,
никто не был к тебе добр.
20 Люди твои ослабели,
они падали наземь
и лежали на углах всех улиц
словно животные, пойманные в сеть.
И гнев Господний пролился на них с полной силой.
21 Слушай Меня, несчастный Иерусалим:
ты слаб как пьяный.
И пьян ты не от вина, а от чаши Господнего гнева.
22 Твой Бог Всемогущий
будет бороться за Своих людей.
Он говорит тебе:
«Я забираю чашу гнева Моего,
ты наказания больше не изведаешь.
23 Я гнев Свой направлю на тех,
кто нанёс тебе вред,
кто пытался тебя убить и говорил:
„Поклонись нам, чтобы мы прошли по тебе!”
Они заставили тебя пасть
и прошли по спине твоей как по дороге,
и ты был грязью у них под ногами».

The Lord Will Save His People
51 Listen to me, you people who pursue what is right and seek the Lord.
Look to the rock from which you were cut
and to the quarry from which you were dug.
2 Look to Abraham, your ancestor,
and to Sarah, from whom you are descended.
When I called Abraham, he was childless.
I blessed him and gave him many descendants.
3 So the Lord will comfort Zion.
He will comfort all those who live among its ruins.
He will make its desert like Eden.
He will make its wilderness like the garden of the Lord.
Joy and gladness will be found in it,
thanksgiving and the sound of singing.
4 Pay attention to me, my people.
Open your ears to hear me, my nation.
My teachings will go out from me.
My justice will become a light for the people.
5 My righteousness is near.
My salvation is on the way.
I will bring justice to people.
The coastlands put their hope in me,
and they wait eagerly for me.
6 Look at the sky.
Look at the earth below.
The sky will vanish like smoke.
The earth will wear out like clothing,
and those who live there will die like flies.
But my salvation will last forever,
and my righteousness will never fail.
7 Listen to me, you people who know righteousness,
you people who have my teachings in your hearts.
Don’t be afraid of being insulted by people.
Don’t be discouraged by their ridicule.
8 Moths will eat them like clothing.
Worms will devour them like wool.
But my righteousness will last forever,
and my salvation will last throughout every generation.
9 Wake up! Wake up! Clothe yourself with strength, O Lord!
Wake up as you did in days long past, as in generations long ago.
Didn’t you cut Rahab [a] into pieces and stab the serpent?
10 Didn’t you dry up the sea, the water of the great ocean?
You made a road in the depths of the sea
so that the people reclaimed ⌞by the Lord⌟
might pass through it.
11 The people ransomed by the Lord will return.
They will come to Zion singing with joy.
Everlasting happiness will be on their heads ⌞as a crown⌟.
They will be glad and joyful.
They will have no sorrow or grief.
12 I alone am the one who comforts you.
Why, then, are you afraid of mortals, who must die,
of humans, who are like grass?
13 Why have you forgotten the Lord, your Creator?
He stretched out the heavens
and laid the foundations of the earth.
Why should you live in constant fear of the fury
of those who oppress you,
of those who are ready to destroy you?
Where is the fury of those who oppress you?
14 Chained prisoners will be set free.
They will not die in prison.
They will not go without food.
15 I am the Lord your God who stirs up the sea
and makes its waves roar.
My name is the Lord of Armies.
16 I put my words in your mouth
and sheltered you in the palm of my hand.
I stretched out the heavens,
laid the foundations of the earth,
and said to Zion, “You are my people.”
Wake Up, Jerusalem
17 Wake up! Wake up!
Stand up, Jerusalem!
You drank from the cup in the Lord’s hand.
That cup was filled with his anger.
You drank from the bowl, the cup that makes people stagger,
and you drained it!
18 From all the children she gave birth to,
there was no one to guide her.
From all the children she raised,
there was no one to take her by the hand.
19 Twice as many disasters have happened to you.
Who will feel sorry for you?
Violence, destruction, famine, and war have happened to you.
Who will comfort you?
20 Your children have fainted.
They lie sleeping at every street corner.
They are like an antelope caught in a net.
They experience the anger of the Lord,
the fury of your God.
21 Listen to this, you humble people
who are drunk but not from wine.
22 The Lord your God defends his people.
This is what your master says:
I’m taking from your hand the cup that makes people stagger,
the bowl, the cup of my fury.
You will never drink from it again.
23 I will put it in the hands of those who made you suffer.
They said to you, “Lie down so that we can walk over you.”
So you made your back like the ground
and like a street for them to cross.

51 “Listen(A) to me, you who pursue righteousness(B)
and who seek(C) the Lord:
Look to the rock(D) from which you were cut
and to the quarry from which you were hewn;
2 look to Abraham,(E) your father,
and to Sarah, who gave you birth.
When I called him he was only one man,
and I blessed him and made him many.(F)
3 The Lord will surely comfort(G) Zion(H)
and will look with compassion on all her ruins;(I)
he will make her deserts like Eden,(J)
her wastelands(K) like the garden of the Lord.
Joy and gladness(L) will be found in her,
thanksgiving(M) and the sound of singing.
4 “Listen to me, my people;(N)
hear me,(O) my nation:
Instruction(P) will go out from me;
my justice(Q) will become a light to the nations.(R)
5 My righteousness draws near speedily,
my salvation(S) is on the way,(T)
and my arm(U) will bring justice to the nations.
The islands(V) will look to me
and wait in hope(W) for my arm.
6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens,
look at the earth beneath;
the heavens will vanish like smoke,(X)
the earth will wear out like a garment(Y)
and its inhabitants die like flies.
But my salvation(Z) will last forever,(AA)
my righteousness will never fail.(AB)
7 “Hear me, you who know what is right,(AC)
you people who have taken my instruction to heart:(AD)
Do not fear the reproach of mere mortals
or be terrified by their insults.(AE)
8 For the moth will eat them up like a garment;(AF)
the worm(AG) will devour them like wool.
But my righteousness will last forever,(AH)
my salvation through all generations.”
9 Awake, awake,(AI) arm(AJ) of the Lord,
clothe yourself with strength!(AK)
Awake, as in days gone by,
as in generations of old.(AL)
Was it not you who cut Rahab(AM) to pieces,
who pierced that monster(AN) through?
10 Was it not you who dried up the sea,(AO)
the waters of the great deep,(AP)
who made a road in the depths of the sea(AQ)
so that the redeemed(AR) might cross over?
11 Those the Lord has rescued(AS) will return.
They will enter Zion with singing;(AT)
everlasting joy will crown their heads.
Gladness and joy(AU) will overtake them,
and sorrow and sighing will flee away.(AV)
12 “I, even I, am he who comforts(AW) you.
Who are you that you fear(AX) mere mortals,(AY)
human beings who are but grass,(AZ)
13 that you forget(BA) the Lord your Maker,(BB)
who stretches out the heavens(BC)
and who lays the foundations of the earth,
that you live in constant terror(BD) every day
because of the wrath of the oppressor,
who is bent on destruction?
For where is the wrath of the oppressor?(BE)
14 The cowering prisoners will soon be set free;(BF)
they will not die in their dungeon,
nor will they lack bread.(BG)
15 For I am the Lord your God,
who stirs up the sea(BH) so that its waves roar(BI)—
the Lord Almighty(BJ) is his name.
16 I have put my words in your mouth(BK)
and covered you with the shadow of my hand(BL)—
I who set the heavens in place,
who laid the foundations of the earth,(BM)
and who say to Zion, ‘You are my people.(BN)’”
The Cup of the Lord’s Wrath
17 Awake, awake!(BO)
Rise up, Jerusalem,
you who have drunk from the hand of the Lord
the cup(BP) of his wrath,(BQ)
you who have drained to its dregs(BR)
the goblet that makes people stagger.(BS)
18 Among all the children(BT) she bore
there was none to guide her;(BU)
among all the children she reared
there was none to take her by the hand.(BV)
19 These double calamities(BW) have come upon you—
who can comfort you?(BX)—
ruin and destruction,(BY) famine(BZ) and sword(CA)—
who can[a] console you?
20 Your children have fainted;
they lie at every street corner,(CB)
like antelope caught in a net.(CC)
They are filled with the wrath(CD) of the Lord,
with the rebuke(CE) of your God.
21 Therefore hear this, you afflicted(CF) one,
made drunk,(CG) but not with wine.
22 This is what your Sovereign Lord says,
your God, who defends(CH) his people:
“See, I have taken out of your hand
the cup(CI) that made you stagger;
from that cup, the goblet of my wrath,
you will never drink again.
23 I will put it into the hands of your tormentors,(CJ)
who said to you,
‘Fall prostrate(CK) that we may walk(CL) on you.’
And you made your back like the ground,
like a street to be walked on.”(CM)
