24 После того как Навуходоносор, царь Вавилона, увёл в плен из Иерусалима в Вавилон иудейского царя Иехонию, сына Иоакима, с сановниками Иудеи, и с мастеровыми, и с кузнецами Иерусалима,[a] Вечный показал мне две корзины инжира, поставленные перед входом в храм Вечного. 2 В одной корзине был отличный инжир раннего урожая; в другой корзине инжир был самый скверный, настолько плохой, что его нельзя было есть.
3 И сказал мне Вечный:
– Что ты видишь, Иеремия?
Я ответил:
– Инжир. Хорошие плоды очень хороши, а плохие настолько испорчены, что их нельзя есть.
4 И сказал мне Вечный:
5 – Так говорит Вечный, Бог Исраила: Этим хорошим инжиром Я считаю изгнанников из Иудеи, высланных Мной из этой земли в землю вавилонян. 6 Мои глаза будут обращены на них ради их же блага, и Я верну их на эту землю. Я утвержу их, а не разрушу; насажу, а не искореню. 7 Я дам им сердце, способное познать Меня, познать, что Я – Вечный. Они будут Моим народом, а Я буду их Богом, потому что они вернутся ко Мне от чистого сердца.
8 А этому скверному инжиру, который так плох, что его нельзя есть, – говорит Вечный, – Я уподоблю Цедекию, царя Иудеи, его приближённых и уцелевших горожан Иерусалима, независимо от того, останутся ли они в этой стране или поселятся в Египте. 9 Я сделаю их ужасом и отвращением для всех царств на земле, позором и притчей, предметом издевательств и проклятий, повсюду, куда бы ни изгнал их. 10 Я буду поражать их мечом, посылать на них голод и мор, пока они не исчезнут с земли, которую Я дал им и их предкам.

24 Pagkatapos(A) gapiin at dalhing-bihag sa Babilonia ng Haring Nebucadnezar si Haring Jeconias na anak ni Jehoiakim, kasama ang mga pinuno, mahuhusay na manggagawa at mga panday ng Juda mula Jerusalem patungong Babilonia, ipinakita sa akin ni Yahweh ang dalawang basket ng igos sa harap ng Templo ni Yahweh sa isang pangitain. 2 Napakaganda ng mga igos sa unang basket, mga unang nahinog na bunga; ngunit napakasasama naman ng igos na nasa pangalawang basket, at hindi na maaaring kainin. 3 At tinanong ako ni Yahweh, “Jeremias, ano ang nakikita mo?”
Sumagot ako, “Mga igos po; napakagaganda ng nasa unang basket, ngunit napakasasama ng nasa isang basket at hindi na maaaring kainin.”
4 Pagkatapos ay sinabi sa akin ni Yahweh, 5 “Akong si Yahweh, ang Diyos ng Israel, ang nagsasabi: Katulad ng mabubuting igos na iyan, ang mga taga-Juda na dinalang-bihag sa Babilonia ay itinuturing kong mabubuting tao. 6 Pangangalagaan ko sila at ibabalik balang araw sa kanilang lupain. Patatatagin ko sila at hindi lilipulin; itatanim at hindi bubunutin. 7 Makikilala nila na ako si Yahweh; sila'y magiging aking bayan at ako ang magiging kanilang Diyos, sapagkat buong puso silang magbabalik-loob sa akin.
8 “Ngunit kung paanong hindi makain ang napakasasamang igos,” sabi ni Yahweh, “gayon din ang gagawin ko kay Haring Zedekias ng Juda, sa kanyang mga pinuno, at sa mga natira sa Jerusalem na nananatili sa lupaing ito, pati ang mga nanirahan sa Egipto. 9 Sila'y katatakutan sa lahat ng kaharian sa sanlibutan. Hahamakin sila, at ang pangalan nila'y magiging bukambibig sa pag-alipusta at pagsumpa kahit saan sila mapunta. 10 Daranas sila ng digmaan, taggutom, at salot hanggang sa lubusan silang mawala sa balat ng lupa, sa lupaing ibinigay ko sa kanila at sa mga ninuno nila.”

Two Baskets of Figs
24 After Jehoiachin[a](A) son of Jehoiakim king of Judah and the officials, the skilled workers and the artisans of Judah were carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, the Lord showed me two baskets of figs(B) placed in front of the temple of the Lord. 2 One basket had very good figs, like those that ripen early;(C) the other basket had very bad(D) figs, so bad they could not be eaten.
3 Then the Lord asked me, “What do you see,(E) Jeremiah?”
“Figs,” I answered. “The good ones are very good, but the bad ones are so bad they cannot be eaten.”
4 Then the word of the Lord came to me: 5 “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Like these good figs, I regard as good the exiles from Judah, whom I sent(F) away from this place to the land of the Babylonians.[b] 6 My eyes will watch over them for their good, and I will bring them back(G) to this land. I will build(H) them up and not tear them down; I will plant(I) them and not uproot them. 7 I will give them a heart to know(J) me, that I am the Lord. They will be my people,(K) and I will be their God, for they will return(L) to me with all their heart.(M)
8 “‘But like the bad(N) figs, which are so bad they cannot be eaten,’ says the Lord, ‘so will I deal with Zedekiah(O) king of Judah, his officials(P) and the survivors(Q) from Jerusalem, whether they remain in this land or live in Egypt.(R) 9 I will make them abhorrent(S) and an offense to all the kingdoms of the earth, a reproach and a byword,(T) a curse[c](U) and an object of ridicule, wherever I banish(V) them. 10 I will send the sword,(W) famine(X) and plague(Y) against them until they are destroyed from the land I gave to them and their ancestors.(Z)’”

24 The Lord shewed me, and, behold, two baskets of figs were set before the temple of the Lord, after that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the carpenters and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon.
2 One basket had very good figs, even like the figs that are first ripe: and the other basket had very naughty figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad.
3 Then said the Lord unto me, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the evil, very evil, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.
4 Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
5 Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for their good.
6 For I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up.
7 And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the Lord: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.
8 And as the evil figs, which cannot be eaten, they are so evil; surely thus saith the Lord, So will I give Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem, that remain in this land, and them that dwell in the land of Egypt:
9 And I will deliver them to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth for their hurt, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places whither I shall drive them.
10 And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, till they be consumed from off the land that I gave unto them and to their fathers.
