1 Дирижёру хора. Под гиттит[a]. Песнь потомков Кораха.

2 Как прекрасно Твоё жилище,
    Вечный, Повелитель Сил!
3 Истомилась моя душа,
    стремясь во дворы храма Вечного;
сердце моё и плоть
    поют Богу живому.
4 Даже воробей находит себе дом,
    и ласточка – гнездо,
    чтобы вывести своих птенцов,
у Твоего жертвенника,
    о Вечный, Повелитель Сил,
    Царь мой и Бог мой.
5 Благословенны живущие в доме Твоём;
    они непрестанно будут восхвалять Тебя. Пауза

6 Благословен человек, сила которого в Тебе,
    в чьём сердце есть желание отправиться в Иерусалим.
7 Проходя долиною Плача[b],
    они открывают в ней источники,
    и дождь покрывает её водоёмами[c].
8 Они крепнут всё больше и больше,
    и каждый предстаёт перед Всевышним на Сионе.

9 Вечный, Бог Сил, услышь мою молитву;
    внемли мне, Бог Якуба. Пауза
10 Взгляни, Всевышний, на царя, на щит наш;[d]
    посмотри с благоволением на помазанника Своего.

11 Один день во дворах Твоего храма
    лучше тысячи вне его стен.
Лучше быть у порога дома Всевышнего,
    чем жить в шатрах у нечестивых.
12 Потому что Вечный Бог – наше солнце и щит;
    Вечный даёт благодать и славу.
Тех, кто ходит непорочно,
    Он не лишает благ.

13 О Вечный, Повелитель Сил,
    благословен человек, надеющийся на Тебя.

83 O God, do not keep silence;
do not hold thy peace or be still, O God!
2 For lo, thy enemies are in tumult;
    those who hate thee have raised their heads.
3 They lay crafty plans against thy people;
    they consult together against thy protected ones.
4 They say, “Come, let us wipe them out as a nation;
    let the name of Israel be remembered no more!”
5 Yea, they conspire with one accord;
    against thee they make a covenant—
6 the tents of Edom and the Ish′maelites,
    Moab and the Hagrites,
7 Gebal and Ammon and Am′alek,
    Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;
8 Assyria also has joined them;
    they are the strong arm of the children of Lot.Selah

9 Do to them as thou didst to Mid′ian,
    as to Sis′era and Jabin at the river Kishon,
10 who were destroyed at En-dor,
    who became dung for the ground.
11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb,
    all their princes like Zebah and Zalmun′na,
12 who said, “Let us take possession for ourselves
    of the pastures of God.”

13 O my God, make them like whirling dust,[a]
    like chaff before the wind.
14 As fire consumes the forest,
    as the flame sets the mountains ablaze,
15 so do thou pursue them with thy tempest
    and terrify them with thy hurricane!
16 Fill their faces with shame,
    that they may seek thy name, O Lord.
17 Let them be put to shame and dismayed for ever;
    let them perish in disgrace.
18 Let them know that thou alone,
    whose name is the Lord,
    art the Most High over all the earth.

1 O God, do not remain silent;(A)
    do not turn a deaf ear,
    do not stand aloof, O God.
2 See how your enemies growl,(B)
    how your foes rear their heads.(C)
3 With cunning they conspire(D) against your people;
    they plot against those you cherish.(E)
4 “Come,” they say, “let us destroy(F) them as a nation,(G)
    so that Israel’s name is remembered(H) no more.”

5 With one mind they plot together;(I)
    they form an alliance against you—
6 the tents of Edom(J) and the Ishmaelites,
    of Moab(K) and the Hagrites,(L)
7 Byblos,(M) Ammon(N) and Amalek,(O)
    Philistia,(P) with the people of Tyre.(Q)
8 Even Assyria(R) has joined them
    to reinforce Lot’s descendants.[b](S)

9 Do to them as you did to Midian,(T)
    as you did to Sisera(U) and Jabin(V) at the river Kishon,(W)
10 who perished at Endor(X)
    and became like dung(Y) on the ground.
11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb,(Z)
    all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,(AA)

13 Make them like tumbleweed, my God,

15 so pursue them with your tempest(AE)
    and terrify them with your storm.(AF)
16 Cover their faces with shame,(AG) Lord,
    so that they will seek your name.

17 May they ever be ashamed and dismayed;(AH)
    may they perish in disgrace.(AI)
18 Let them know that you, whose name is the Lord(AJ)—
    that you alone are the Most High(AK) over all the earth.(AL)
